Came here during the week and joined the waitlist and was seated at a booth within 5 minutes. Love the lighting at night in here it makes it very cozy. Our server was really attentive and helped us know what the good items were. Both dinners came with soup or salad and we each got the salad. One was the Caesar which was really good and the other was the garden salad with white balsamic and that was very tasty too! We then had our mains which was the crispy chicken sandwich / and it was crispy! I didn't love the batter on it as I thought there was too much of it. I came here on an off day after my oil change and I am glad that I did. I was immediately greeted and taken to a nice quiet booth just by myself. The waiter was a very nice and professional man who made sure that my experience was good by checking on me periodically. I ordered the outlaw ribeye cooked well done with loaded mashed potatoes and a salad. Everything was perfect. I can never go wrong with a lil me and baby boo alone time and that's exactly what I got when I came here, we walked in on a packed Saturday just the 2 of us and we were instantly seated in the nice dim lights and beautiful comfortable booths, even though me and bae wanted to be clingy we sat across from eachother but don't worry we were holding hands over our table the entire time, we ordered our food, got our alcoholic beverages, and we chugged those down, and when the food came out we were more than blown away, steak was juicy, seasoned, tender, a beautiful char, oh and how could I forget about the bread it was crunchy and baked to perfection the butter was like the apple of my eye it was fabulous, I just wanna thank all the staff and cooks for making me and baby boos date night away from the kids, PERFECT, and make sure to leave a generous tip. read more

I went to LongHorn Steakhouse in Schererville, IN, and after placing a to-go order, I was informed they were out of bread. Disappointed but understanding, I accepted it. I was told my order would take 20-25 minutes. While waiting, I noticed two young ladies at the bar enjoying drinks (keep this in mind). I decided to head to Lowe's next door to grab a few items. Within the promised timeframe, I received a call that my order was ready. I returned to pick it up, only to notice something baffling--there was bread! However, when I checked my bag, no bread was included. I asked the hostess for bread, and her response was, "We don't have any at this time." Interestingly, the two ladies at the bar had *two loaves of bread each*. Naturally, I questioned how there could be no bread available for me when it was clearly present. Her explanation? "Take-out orders don't have priority for bread." Excuse me? I asked for the manager, and Mandy arrived. Before she came out, though, I saw a waiter bringing bread to a table. I calmly explained the situation to Mandy, only for her to insist they were out of bread. As bread continued to be served around us, she doubled down, saying there was none available. By this point, it wasn't about the bread but the principle--why was I being told something so blatantly untrue? I asked for a refund, explaining my frustration. This was nearly a $60 order! I even questioned if losing the sale was worth avoiding providing what was part of my order. Mandy stood firm, claiming the bread at the servers' stations was reserved for dine-in tables. Decided to remain composed, I requested a refund and corporate's number. Mandy remained respectful and complied without issue. Then Patty, another manager, came out to finalize the refund but offered no acknowledgment or solution to the situation. I drove to the Merrillville location to get my order, bread included. I have very mixed feelings about this place. It smells. Like an old, old, bar. We got the mini crab cakes for our appetizers, which were the size of a quarter. More like meat ball size. They were "just ok". Our meal came with soup or salad. The salad was good; however, the soup was not. The pasta in the soup was so over cooked, it lost its shape. The potato was AWEFUL! It looked like it came from an average bag of potatoes. The only butter for your potatoes was the small little things that are next to impossible to open and a small little plastic container of sour cream. Not enough to even dress my potato. The mixed veggies were way over cooked, and the so-called relish tray was a small portion of cottage cheese and some beats. Not enough for 4 people to share. Now, the steak was AMAZING! They know their stuff when it comes to cooking the steaks. The lake perch was pretty darn good as well. Salmon was cooked perfectly! It's disappointing that you spend over $100 and they "do the bare minimum" on everything else. Like I said, the meats are on point. Everything else needs some love and attention. Sunday afternoon, we were out looking to purchase a small chainsaw. (Do you know how expensive they are???) Left Home Depot with no chainsaw, so decided on a little splurge at Longhorn. We were seated immediately and our server brought water without being asked. The restaurant is well decorated with an upscale western theme and very clean. The ambience was calm and serene. My spouse ordered the ribeye and a baked potato and I requested the NY strip and a loaded baked potato. We mentioned that the previous week we had been to the competing steakhouse in Dyer and found everything very salty. Our server said he was glad we asked because they, too season their steaks "aggressively", but would be happy to ask the kitchen to moderately season our steaks. Our food was delicious! The only reason I held back a 5th star was because we were seated by a large, loud party, but we could have asked for another spot and didn't. We will be back. read more

As usual, upon entry the wait time was minimal, the facility was clean & fresh, the hostess Lauren was prompt, courteous, attentive & exceptional. The food was delicious except the rice pilaf...but the burgers, chicken and steaks was the winner which is what I would recommend. The service we had was just OK...the few staff I saw was very busy running around from table to table and trying to get people seated. As far as the ambiance...could use some work...tables were very small for a seating of six and there was little to no room for appetizers, bread and small plates. There was also a rather long wait for our food...glad we ordered appetizers. We ordered the Raspberry Ice tea for drinks which was fresh but waaay too sweet...tasted more like the Sun tea my grandma used to make. We celebrated my adult son's Birthday and he received a free bowl of ice cream...waitress said it was the best she could do. The wait for a table was almost 2 hrs. Absolutely no if you have a large party. Rules are rules but the delivery of the message should be courteous. Train your host/hostess staff! We were a party of 18 and 10 of us arrived together. The hostess rudely insisted to seat the 10 of us as follows: 1/2 on one side of the restaurant and 1/2 on the other side. The problem with this was that the other side was a dining area full of empty tables. The hostess seemed very authoritative which leads me to believe that she was a member of management. Her inability, or decision, to not accommodate us strategically was distasteful and demonstrated a lack of hospitality management experience. The food was great but the experience will likely keep me from ever patronizing this location again. read more

I flew home to indiAna to celebrate my moms bday and we ended up here. Me my mom and dad ordered the same sirloin steak and it was delicious. Loaded baked potato and Brussel sprouts. Yum. Our waitress and her trainee (Max) were very attentive and very nice they even sang happy birthday to my mom and brought her out an ice cream dish that she devoured. The first time we went it was so good we couldn't wait to back. We went back on a Friday night, recently. We got there early so there were maybe 5 tables full.... And now we may never return. I ordered a med well chop steak and my spouse a med/rare NY Strip. First, it took OVER 30 min to come out. When it did the chop steak was black, and burned crispy on the outside, half well done, the other half med rare, with little to no gravy. The baked potato had 1 piece of bacon bit and maybe 4 shreds of cheese. My spouse initially was pleased with theirs, but looking at it, it was grey and unappealing on one side, and cooked super unevenly. We didn't complain about that because the manager was so rude when we asked about mine. We spoke to the manager who interrupted me, but said they would refire. Over 30 min later my spouse had eaten what little they could and mine still wasn't out. I asked for the manager again, and the food came the same time she did. She argued with us, told us we were wrong, said she would have fixed my spouses too but we said we didn't want to wait another hour. She claimed it was because they were so busy, again... there were like 5 tables when we ordered the first time. And a refire means on the fly, not 30 min later. After more argument from her, she said she'd fix the bill. We didn't request that, but after her attitude, the wait, and the horrendous food quality, it was welcome. She went and fixed it but never told anyone! Not even the server. So there we sat for another 15min, waiting for the bill, and finally the server brought it and said she noticed the manger hadn't dropped it and didn't tell her either. The only bright side was our server. She was wonderful. If this is the kind of management and food quality that place has, they won't stay open long. Too bad too, cause the first time was stellar! Now we may never go back. And the refire I got was STILL wrong, had almost no gravy, and the potato had even fewer toppings. We took it to cause we just couldn't sit there anymore. This Longhorn is always an excellent experience. This is my second visit to this location, the first time I was with a birthday party and actually left my Nephew's birthday gift at the bar. Taylor, my favorite bartender, had it waiting at the check-in desk for me when I returned about an hour later. This visit we had a party of eight people, and we all arrived at separate times. Although, they couldn't see us until the entire party was there, the staff made sure that everyone was comfortable while we waited, they kept us updated on the waitlist, and maintained a level of priority for our group size, even as other groups came in. I've had several steaks here, but the bone-in ribeye is my absolute favorite. Make sure to ask for sides of garlic butter for the additional "Chefs Kiss" for your steak or add it your baked potato. The ambience and mood is always glowing, calm, and borderline romantic, and we had a newborn with us. They always make us feel special and I would highly recommend this location. read more

In a word, disappointing! Our waiter, Caleb, had too many tables ( bad management ) to give anybody decent service. While the manager was not non-existent, she was not very attentive. In the middle of our dinner, the manager came over and asked if we would close the blinds, I thought that was ridiculous. They couldn't of wait until we left. I ordered the fillet with the lobster tail and upgraded to the 9 ounce fillet and my wife had a ribeye. I upgraded from salad to soup and asked for a bowl of the shrimp and lobster chowder and my wife ordered a cup of the French onion along with the salad. A half hour later I got soup that was in a cup and was told they were out of bowls, both our soups were warm at best. My wife's French onion was way over cooked. The steaks were lukewarm and way over cooked. I ordered mine medium well and it well. I ordered the baked potato loaded and there was hardly anything on it, and my wife ordered the sweet potato and said it was barely warm. I had a water and my wife had a Coke and with the tip our bill came to over $90. That's ridiculous for warm food. The only reason for the two stars is everything tasted good but I know it would've tasted better if it was hot. We will not be returning to this restaurant anytime soon if ever. We were sat quickly as the place was not even half full on a Monday night at 7pm , Emma our waitress was very pleasant, But could not answer simple questions like what ingredients were in the food, we ordered 2 Filets 1 Medium Rare and 1 Medium , and a childes chicken tender meal, and 2 salads , it took 20 minutes to get the salad and another 25 to get the mains, The Tender meal was 4 strips and a 1/2 plate of broccoli Great portion and cooked perfect, only problem is it was drowned in salt had to scrape of the coating to be able to eat , the mains were delivered by some one not our waitress and they just placed and left did not wait to see if it was cooked properly .The Medium steak came out very well done my wife could not eat as it was so over cooked , my steak came out rare , to almost medium rare so I ate mine , it took 15 minutes for Emma to come back to our table at witch time she did not ask as nothing was touched on my wife's plate we told her the steak was very well done and sowed her the inside of it and said at this point we don't want to wait another 20 minutes just take it off the bill, she said she will have the manager come over ( he never did) in about 5 minutes she came back and said the manager is putting this to the front of the line and it will be out quickly , again we stated we are not wanting to sit and wait for 20 more minutes with no food, so my wife had some of my grandsons chicken strip and at 27 minutes a man came out and placed a steak on the table and started to walk away not a word said and not 1 single I'm sorry for the poor cooking of the steak. we asked him to wait to check doneness and immediately asked for a to go box and not a single word from him , Emma came by 8 minutes later and asked how things were we told her we were very disappointed in the poor service from The manager and staff an not a single apology of the poor performance and she came back with the bill ( Never 1 I'm sorry), the manager never came back .
