We were celebrating the grand daughter's 7th birthday and she chose Texas Roadhouse. We put ourselves on the wait list at 4:15 and the web site said wait time was an hour. We arrived at exactly 5:15 and texted 'here' and they acknowledged the text. 20 minutes later I went in to make sure we weren't missing their text to come in. The check in girl said that they were just waiting for a booth to open up. As soon as I got back to the car our 'come inside' text came. There was 6 of us, and they sat us at a booth for 4 with a table added on next to a booth for 6. The only reason we stayed was because it was the 7 yr old's choice. The waitress complained to us that she could barely get by, and when we left another server said that she doesn't understand why they even do that. We stayed there, being jostled by people going to the restroom, which we had a great view of, over and over. If this was our first time here it would have been our last. I understand that covid is making it difficult for restaurants, but they had us sitting 18 inches from the people in the 6 person booth, while other than our row they had every other table closed. So very unhappy with this place! We will not be ordering from there again. It is next to impossible to go there for dinner now with our kids because of the waiting process, so we have been ordering out and bringing it home. Staying home and supporting local businesses with curbside pick up. Ordered 2 meals and an appetizer platter. The ordering o line was very easy. They have their A game on for curbside pickup! Both entrees fresh and hot and delicious. The appetizer platter appeared to be made too soon and was underwhelming with dry chicken, cold potato skins and they forgot my blue cheese dip. I know I know, it's a chain, but sometimes you just need fried pickles!!! This place has 100% nailed the car side to go experience! I placed my order online and headed over. They had a hostess, for lack of a better word, as soon as you pulled in the lot that asked you name and directed you to a numbered parking space. Within moments my order was brought right out. Since spending vacations in Tennessee, I get cravings for fried pickles. These are as close to authentic southern as I've found: thin and crispy with a side of ranch. My husband enjoyed a very juicy burger that according to him "really tastes like meat." I was totally surprised by this place. We've been looking at the crowds in the parking lot for over three years now and have never stopped in. My daughter won a free kids meal certificate from school and we decided to stop in. She got the mini burgers and we each got the 8 ounce sirloin and sides. Was not happy after picking up my food at 8:30 pm and returned home at 9 pm. I began to pull my food out of the bag looked ok and smelled good, after cutting the meat found out it was not cooked correctly it was over cooked and the bake potato was dried and hard. I called at 9:05 pm to let the manager know what was going on and no answer at all I called about 6 times and still no answer. The restaurant closes at 9 pm and no one to answer the phone, when I left the restaurant it was more than 50 cars in the parking lot I know it was not all employees . Listen, and hear me out- i know this is a major chain, and it can only be so good, but this location is amazing. I have had 10/10 service EVERY SINGLE TIME, without fail. Even if this place looks packed, they peel through the line so quickly, and it's worth the ten minutes you'll wait. They are so consistently great and the food is up to par every single time. Not once have I had anything but a fantastic experience here, and we always know what we will be getting when it comes to service and food quality. This place was rocking tonight! From the call on the phone, until we walked out the establishment, the employees here showed superior customer service. The hostess at the counter was nice, the runner that sits the patrons down was vibrant and friendly. Our server was patient, she visited the table often, and swapped things out when I asked. Food: I had the herbed chicken with a baked potato and seasoned rice. Chicken was packed with flavor, the potato was cooked perfect, and the rice was moist and flavorful. Nephew has the bacon cheeseburger and he demolished it! The thing I admired the most was the energy in the room from the employees. I looked around and everyone looked like they were having fun. There is typically a wait, so we expected it. The host asked us if we wanted a table, a booth, or a table booth. I'm glad there are options but I didn't care. Finally we get seat after waiting a while. My waitress was not personable. She didn't really make eye contact and all she did was try to upsell, upsell, upsell. "Bacon, cheese, and sour cream with those mashed potatoes?" "Mushrooms or grilled onions on your steak?" "Anything else to drink besides water?" Wow I was overwhelmed. I just wanted a simple steak and vegetables. She would quickly ask how we were doing, but would walk away just as fast as we were answering. The food was okay. We ordered the NY strip and sirloin. I think they might've mixed up the ounces of the meat. The 10 oz NY strip looked smaller than the 8 oz sirloin. When first seated at our table, they offer warm bread rolls with a side of butter that my friend helped himself to devour. My husband and I went to the Texas Roadhouse in Dyer Indiana this evening. The food was great but something seemed fishy. We had an overly friendly waitress. We already had bread in the table but we needed More butter. She came back with bread and butter which she left and just commented for us to just take it home. She paid almost OVERLY eager to please. She checked on us a little bit too frequently. She was friendly and something about her didn't seem right. Our bill came to a little over $67.00. I had received 2 gift cards totalling $75.00 for my 75th birthday. She took the cards to pay out bill. When she brought the cards back she put 1 back on the table and announced she would throw the "empty' one away. (Which I did not want her to do because I always ck my cards when I get home. We ended up with the empty card ...and she supposedly tossed the other in the garbage. I actually think she kept that card and cheated us out of the balance even though we gave her a $20 cash tip. Don't think we will be going back there for awhile...it's not the money it's the thought that she would take that card without asking to supposedly throw it away. The best part of coming here tonight was walking back outside. Harsh? Not as I see it. The noise pollution inside was just that bad. The sports on bar TV's was almost outcompeting the loud ambient music playing in the rest of the place. Plus there must have been at least 4 freakin birthday shout-outs during our meal. It really made for lousy Texas-sized table conditions. That's a shame because the service was very attentive (although faster paced than I care for) and the food was good. There is a fair amount of salt to everything we ate, but damn, my 16 oz ribeye was perfectly cooked and tastier than any other steak I've had in town. If MSG deserves the credit for that, then I'll be sure to send him a thank you card. The only mistake I made besides thinking we could have some dinner conversation with a few friends, was ordering a martini. We had dinner last night at Texas Roadhouse, Dyer. We were seated right away and were met with our waiter, Leo. I ordered the 8 oz. Dallas Filet medium well without having it butterflied. My steak was served burnt on the outside and rare red on the inside. I had Leo look at it and he swiftly suggested that he take it back. The manager served the remade steak to me, and waited for me to check it. I was surprised that it was not butterflied this time as I suggested on the remake but was cut in four places on the steak. I asked the manager about it and he said they do things differently in the kitchen. ??? (I was surprised that a restaurant manager would serve a steak burnt.) Leo came by to check on us and witnessed me cutting off the charred outside. He apologized profusely and had my meal removed from our check with permission. Leo was generously tipped and hopeful that we would come back. Leo is a superb waiter, full of personality, and genuinely cares about his customers. I think the manager should take Leo's lead. read more
