We went to the Roadhouse in Hadley for dinner. My son ordered a double stack burger which he enjoyed. My wife ordered a 16 oz. NY strip cooked med rare. When it was my turn to order I said I'll have the same. we then waited 30 minutes for our food to arrive in a 1/2 filled restaurant. When our order arrived I received a perfectly cooked 16oz. NY strip and my wife received a perfectly cooked 12 oz.ribeye. We immediately brought this to the attention of our waitress who came over with the manager. The manager told us that the ribeye was a better deal than the strip steak by 5$ and it was in fact a 16oz. steak(it wasn't and not sure why they would have cut a 16 oz steak since its not on the menu and no one ever mentioned the word ribeye during the ordering process.). He did ask my wife if she wanted to have them recook her a strip steak but everyone was eating and it would have been awkward for her steak to come out after we were finished eating. In the end the manager took off 2 dollars from my wife's steak. She basically overpaid for a steak she didn't order and only ended eating half of it because she doesn't like the fat in a rib eye. Terrible management at this location. will be a while before we return. read more

Do not eat here if you are Gluten Free. My daughter ordered food to go and it came with bread on her meal. She called and was told the food was GF but and not the bread. She could have gotten very sick had she eaten it. People make mistakes but the fact that there was no offer from the manager to refund her or send a new meal is disgraceful. read more

My husband and I went out for dinner hoping to have a nice night out- instead I ended up storming out of the restaurant due to the way I was treated by the staff. Our waitress made a point to repeatedly announce I ordered a Diet Coke. At first I thought maybe she's trying to remember it- but she didn't announce my husbands Sprite. When we got our meals, and weren't even halfway through eating she asked if we'd like dessert. We were still eating dinner- this was rude and clearly trying to push us along- nothing like being rushed. When she asked us this- my husband looks at me and as I was about to answer that "we need more time" we were clearly still eating and she cut me off and said "so that's a no..." and walked away... When she finally circled back to us, after my husband had finished her food she finally brought us a refill that I asked for a while ago... then left the check (I was still eating) The manager came over to ask how things were going- I told her, "honestly, horrible." She got visibly defensive as I explained what happened. She told me the waitress didn't mean it like that- and when I said well I disagree. She told me she stands by her waitress and ended the discussion. Wow! Talk about making the customer feel welcome and heard... I put our payment for the meal in the check holder and stormed out, our waitress walked past and said "the checks on the table" SERIOUSLY?! It's a chain so you can only expect so much. We had a gift card from Christmas to use so we decided to come on a week night to avoid any wait. First thing to note is they will not seat you if your whole party is not there. We ended up waiting for our friends when we could've been eating, racking up a higher bill, instead of just sitting around doing nothing. We were finally seated and without giving us more than 30 seconds to check out the menu, the waitress appeared asking for our drink orders. We had to tell her to give us a few minutes and she walked off in a huff. I hate to say that the whole evening was this way. Seriously lacking any personality. Drinks were ordered as well as our entrees. She didn't even ask what apps we wanted, just straight to the point. And ordinarily I wouldn't care but we had wanted apps! So the food. My sirloin had one of those terrible fat lines running through it, effectively making me chew and chew and chew until finally I gave up. The caesar salad was absolutely frigid, actually frozen on some pieces but the pieces I did eat were good. TR really should reevaluate how they store their pre made salads. The mashed potatoes were very good. My husband had the fried steak which was interesting. Great fried breading but pounded so thin it was kinda tasteless. Went in for early dinner and was seated immediately. I was happy to find that some specials went to 6pm. The food was as ordered. the side of Fresh Vegys was perfect. My companion was disappointed because they did not serve baked beans or mac and cheese. We had a very experienced waitress (Melinda?) .She was flawless with her service and attitude !!! Yesterday was my daughters 11th birthday so 6 of the family went out to celebrate. I called the restaurant at 4pm, per the instructions on the website for birthdays and special occasions. The person taking the call for a 5pm arrival was very accommodating. Assured me we were all set for the birthday. We showed up with presents- clearly a birthday occasion. Nothing happened. I ordered her a dessert the waitress brought it that was it. I told her and she apologized- she was never informed. I spoke with the manager and she flatly stared at me and said I am sorry, thank you for telling me and walked away. The waitress said the manager comped the dessert. I could careless about the $7 dessert. The experience, the special birthday surprise was ruined and no one really cared..... food was good, service was fine, but the lack of attention to detail and lack of care was enough to not return. We ordered a skewered meat dish, also a steak tips. Both were ok. Complementary sweet bread flowed fine. We asked for a take-home container. The waitress appeared wearing blue cleaning gloves holding our container (a clear plastic container). I immediately protested --I said "You're wearing cleaning gloves--you can't touch food containers or anything else wearing the cleaning gloves." She said "I just put them on--I totally understand though." At this point I'm lost---areas around cleaning gloves are just rife with germs. Who really knows what she's touching and whether she just gloved up. All the other workers wearing blue gloves in plain sight--were mopping, cleaning tables--yuck. She next re-delivered our clear container with water drops on it. Proudly saying--I just washed my hands-----just as gross--water drops from her hands on the container I'm bringing home my kid's food in. Nope. We paid (still left a tip--we still support the working people), left the food--avoided dysentery. If you are someone prone to stomach bugs, pathogens etc...this location would be on the side of likely to give you the Steak House Revenge. A manager should retrain all staff about proper food handling, proper customer care----- I will say this--the waitress, despite her faux pas, was not rude back--though she was defensive about indefensible behavior. read more

I brought my 6 year old son there last weekend. We were seated promptly by a friendly hostess. There was no butter for the rolls. The waiter interacted with my son, a big deal for me. He encouraged him to order his own meal like a "grownup ". I ordered my hamburger medium but came out well done. Nobody came to check on us or offer refills on our drinks. I always have a good time at Texas Roadhouse! I never experienced eating at one until I moved out to Amherst from school, but I'm so glad that my friends introduced me to this place. The rolls and butter are always on point and absolutely delicious. Even after trying a couple of different dishes on the menu such as the fish and chips and the pork chops (both of which were pretty good), I've always circled back to the country fried chicken! It's absolutely delicious fried goodness that comes with two sides. The amount of food that comes with this dish is usually enough to last me two meals, which makes the price for what you get extremely affordable. I've never had a bad experience with the waitstaff and they are outgoing and friendly. The only thing to be wary of is if you have peanut allergies because there are literally peanuts and peanut dust everywhere, although I do see the staff cleaning the floors and tables of it every night before closing. read more

On a tactile level, Texas Roadhouse is the most "corporate" feeling chain restaurant I've ever eaten at. Everything - particularly the bizarre "don't call it a reservation" system (which involves being given a five-digit alphanumeric code to potentially hop the line) - feels micromanaged from on high. I agree with another user who says it feels like a demeaning place to work, what with the "I [heart] My Job" t-shirts the staff are forced to wear; the dancing like trained animals; and the nagging feeling that the place is chronically understaffed, undoubtedly the work of the same corporate efficiency robot that designed "Call Ahead Seating." We went there because we had a couple of holiday gift cards, and things felt off from the start. There were no prices on the alcoholic drinks menu so our waitress (who was well-meaning, but seemed very stressed) had to go to the bartender to find them. After ordering, our waitress proceeded to disappear. Salads arrived first after about 15 minutes, then drinks, then ice water. In addition, my salad was not prepared correctly (I asked for no croutons) and my boyfriend's salad was served at the wrong time. We ultimately had to leave early due to a work emergency, but had we been able we would have complained to the manager. I will say that our steaks, which we had boxed up, were prepared as ordered. I was very surprised to see styrofoam leftover containers in the year 2017, though. The flavor profile of this place is lowest common denominator. Salt and sugar dominate. The butter has sugar. The rolls have sugar. The green beans have sugar! The caramelized onions with my steak tasted like pure salt, as did the sauteed mushrooms. The salads we ordered were made with bagged iceberg lettuce, cheap shredded orange cheese, and a whole handful of chunky, wet chopped tomato that turned everything soggy. The wine is all super mass market (Barefoot, Ecco Domani), though they seemed to be a little more off the beaten path with their beers. So yeah. It's a chain. A chain with not particularly good service. If you have kids, I can see the appeal. Otherwise, there are many better options in the area. read more

I know this sounds like a crazy suggestion, but, after providing dinner rolls prior to even ordering the food (with a basket refill, if requested), I think they can leave out the roll with the dinners. I go to school at UMass and decided to try this place out last year after receiving a gift card in a white elephant Christmas exchange. I eat neither burgers nor steak, so I was unsure of what to expect from a chain restaurant that is mostly known for both of those things. I brought my boyfriend with me because he loves burgers, so I thought at least one of us would enjoy it, if anything. However, I enjoyed the vibe right as I entered, and the hostesses were really friendly. We had to wait a bit to be seated, but not overly long. The place was as clean as it could be, and I loved the rolls and cinnamon butter. I was surprised to see such a large menu, and ordered the barbecue grilled chicken strips with fries and broccoli on the side. I believe my boyfriend had some type of burger. The food came out really quickly and tasted great. I was amazed that a chain restaurant had such quality food. Because it is on a spot on Russell St that is hard to access from campus by bus (I don't have a car and neither does my boyfriend) we decided it was a one time thing. However I discovered that DeliveryExpress has Texas Roadhouse as an option for delivery, so we took to ordering it to our dorm for dinner every so often in the spring last year. It was always delicious and hot, and they even included rolls with delivery orders! Early this school year we decided to visit the restaurant in person again, and were definitely not disappointed. The service was even better this time, our waitress was bubbly and friendly, and the food was even more delicious. I ordered the Caesar salad this time instead of broccoli, and it was amazing!! We continued to order for delivery at least twice a month during fall semester, and no doubt we will keep it up until we graduate! This is definitely one of my favorite restaurants!! read more

We are in the business so perhaps this is unfair but this place is just not yet ready for prime time. They have been open long enough now to have gone through the shake out phase but certainly did not feel like it. First, the food is OK but not great with just an awful presentation. I had a side of applesauce which came with the spoon sticking out of it. We both ordered salad which arrived simultaneously with the meal. Second, the service was not great. Our server just seemed inexperienced and, looking around, it looked like that was the norm. We went here for my birthday a few days back. It was our first time here as the restaurant has only been open for less than a month. Since we phoned ahead we were seated immediately. Our visit started at 4:30 PM. I ordered a combo plate of steak and ribs with home fries and seasoned rice. My partner ordered a 6 ounce steak baked potato and vegetable. We also ordered an Awesome Blossom for an appetizer. They put out free warm rolls with honey butter. Also on the table before ordering were two little buckets; one empty and the other filled with salted peanuts! We were served our Awesome Blossom and it was delicious. After chowing through half of that and our rolls, our main meals were brought to us. I ordered my steak cooked medium and it was and my partner ordered his rare and it also was cooked to perfection. The steaks seemed very good quality with little gristle and were quite tender. There was so much good food we could only eat half of it. Our server was very attentive through the meal and got steak sauce and other things that we ask for right away. The manager even came by to ask how we been treated and how the food was, a nice touch. We got to the returaunt and there were probably twenty folks waiting to get in; so, we figured this was a good sign. We were told that it would be approximately thirty minutes and lo and behols it was only 25. Our waiter was Adam amd he is a definite keeper for this establishment. Professional and personable - - he came back severa times to check on us - - and not with us having a mouthful. The salad was fesh and had everything in it that we wanted. Lo and behold, we show up and the place is not only packed but they tell us that we will have to wait an hour and a half. Who do these people think they are? Like, throw the pepper shaker away and double fist the salt shaker, knock the caps off and POUR, until there's a white crystal brilliance of salt. I have been to several other Texas Roadhouse locations and this is the first time I have been disappointed. We were a party of 6 celebrating a birthday. I had ordered a 6oz fillet cooked medium rare. What I got was a fillet that was maybe 1/4 inch think and well done. I returned the steak and 20 minutes later was presented with a new one that was cooked properly. The quality of all of our steaks was much lower than I have seen at other locations. I also had paid extra for onions and mushrooms which were not on the new meal when it came out. Wow! Not for me. I went thinking it would be fun. It was at first, but got old quickly. Hot rolls - nice. Cinnamon in the butter - weird. After 45 minutes, we asked our waitress to check our order.
