Let Me being by saying yes I realize it's the holidays and a Friday night and we knew the restaurant would be crowded but we enjoy the steaks so we went anyway. Again the food was delicious what had prompted my low score is that we sat at the bar tonight as we like to do and there were three couples who arrived between 10-20 mins after us. After waiting for a bit we got our drink orders and placed our dinner order. As we enjoyed our drinks, I started noticing the the others who arrived after us getting salad order. Still we gave it a bit more time then asked where my salad was. The other waitress went over to register and started looking then quickly added our order in, nothing was said to us, after 10 More minutes I finally got a salad. By now all the people who came in after had their meals and one was done eating. Not in all this time did a waitress come over to tell us she would Check on it. After 35 Min more the meal arrived. By now another customer asked me what we ordered as he ordered after us and was finishing. I have to say we were annoyed. At no time was an apology given, the manager never came over and then we get our bill and they have taken off the price of large steak but were we told anything, no, just asked if we want dessert and left bill. I have had it with this place. We love the food but the service lately is appalling. I never asked for the amount to be taken off just come over and communicate to your customers. Based on these last few times we've been in I'll be looking for another steakhouse. A shame really as we enjoy Coming in but if you can't even come Over and talk to your customers and apologize Instead of trying to appease me by reducing bill then you need work in the customer service department read more

Normally good food trumps almost everything else but we rarely patronize this location any more due to the intolerable takeout experience. We were regulars 2-3x/mo pre-COVID. During COVID they tried to keep going with takeout and people were just glad to be served and perhaps overlooked the service component; they were doing the best they could under difficult circumstances. However, things have been mostly normal for a couple of years now. Because of the loud atmosphere and general ambiance, we choose not to go inside any more. For a while, we tried the takeout maybe 1x/mo. Not once in the past 2 years have I had a takeout experience that was remotely acceptable. Not once have I driven away thinking, wow, that was good service. So instead of 1x/mo, I occasionally (every 6 months?) decide to give it another try to see if anything has changed. Today was the day. Here is a description of my experience. Placed order at 6:10 pm and was given 6:36 pick up time. Arrived at 6:38, waited in my car and gave my name when asked. At 6:50 I inquired about my order (from my car) and was told they were behind. At 6:55 I decided to phone them from my car. When I told them I was in the parking lot, they immediately hung up on me. At that point, I went inside and asked for the manager who was apologetic and agreed to comp the food. Ten minutes later the food was delivered with the sandwich that I ordered having no french fries. Regrettably, this has been my experience for the past two years so tonight was my last gasp at the Hickory Texas Roadhouse. read more

Good service and a friendly energetic atmosphere with excellent steaks. They really do take pride in what they make, so if your looking for a good cut of beef, this is the place to go! That said, if you want something healthy, maybe look someplace else. I tried ordering something healthy with my steak, in this case, green beans. We were there on Saturday night August 7, 2021. Waited approximately 1 hour to be seated. The waitress came by asked about drinks, took drink order. When she delivered our drinks, asked if we would like an appetizer, I informed her we wanted a salad when we ordered our meal. She said wait a minute she would be right back, which turned out to be about 5 minutes. She finally came back,we ordered our meal with a salad. I informed her that my wife's tea had very little ice by this time. We sit there waiting on our salads and our steaks showed up without salads. At this time I asked for the general manager and had to asked the second time for a manager and the kitchen manager showed up along with ice for my wife's tea. I informed him that we had ordered salads, he apologized and said he would make us salads to eat there or take home. By this time the steaks were starting to get cold. We refused the offer and left the restaurant. We will not be back to Texas Road House in Hickory,N.C. because of the poor service that they have been experiencing recently and lack of management. read more

What to expect at this establishment run by Mark Hines who has clearly given up on caring about customer service: 1. Incorrect food. You will not get what you ordered. 2. Cold food. You might think you're waiting forever because your food isn't done cooking yet. Nope. It's just sitting there getting cold because no one will bring it to you. 3. After points 1 and 2 happen nobody will take any responsibility for their errors. They will apologize and say "not to make excuses" and then proceed to make excuses which is always lovely. Their most most consistent "not an excuse" excuse is that it's the dinner rush which I personally love since this is my first trip to earth and wasn't sure when everyone eats. 4. If you do decide to write to the leadership of this restaurant explaining everything you've already explained to multiple people without getting any kind of results, you will not get a reply to your email. You will just get a vague "we are sorry" response with a crappy gift card so you can waste more of your life hoping they will succeed at making the food you order and giving it to you when they say they will. Don't fool yourself. Given that by now you've dealt with 3-5 layers of employees/corporate leaders and they still won't act like you're anything other than an annoyance, they're not going to change. 6. Don't waste your time or money trying to order togo food. 3 times in a row our orders have been wrong and the parts they got right were cold like they had been sitting a long while. One time one of our burgers was missing 1/3 of the patty. Another time cheese fries were missing. They will offer to remake it but that means you have to drive all the way back there and they will not put your food at the beginning of the line. You will have to wait like a customer that just showed up. All this to say this place has gone so far downhill it's unrecognizable. I used to love this place. We would get food there a couple times a month. Everyone seems to have given up. Even the person in the shack directing you where to go just tells you to pull into a spot. Which I was very thankful for that advice. Don't know what I would have done without her taking a break from her phone to share her expertise. Go somewhere else to eat. Anywhere. These folks rock. Despite the COVID challenges, and the complete downpour that happened when we stopped in, the staff kept right on rolling. Waitresses were cheerful, and food was phenomenal. We visited this location this past weekend. The food and service was excellent for a chain steakhouse, but the wait is very long. We did not call ahead and my daughter indicated later that they won't put you on a list, though in years past, I thought they did. If we go back at some point, I'll check on that. We thought we were early, but they were busy when we arrived and I had my wife check on the wait time. They indicated one (1) hour, so they took our name and we waited. After an hour, we were 24th on the list. With a 30 minute drive, and an hour plus wait, that is just too long, particularly when their wait time estimation is so far off. If ribs are what you are craving their ribs are consistently awesome. However, ordering a steak is hit and miss. I LOVE prime rib, out of three trips here ONCE it has been good, once. If prime rib is over cooked there is nothing you can do but chew and chew and chew. Sirloins are often cooked with pink inside no matter how you order it so just expect it. The wait system here is completely screwed up. We decided this ONE time we would do the whole 2 hour wait. We finally received the "your table is ready" text only to get to the door and be told to wait outside, in the rain, for another 15 minutes. We usually love to eat here but I guess they've gotten a new manger who does not know how to do the job efficiently. So, I guess this will be our last time, at least for a long while. read more

My husband and I haven't been here in a while and wanted a bangin' steak and bread rolls. Bread rolls hit the spot immediately. We got there when they first opened and it was a little crowded but we didn't mind the wait for our food. I got a steak medium because the waitress said if you like medium well, to go that route so I did. My steak came back almost rare. So I asked her if she would mind sending it back to be cooked a little more. It came back again and was still almost rare. I told her that it still wasn't cooked enough and she agreed that it still looked raw. They took it back again and when I got this plate back, I couldn't believe it. You could tell that the cook got mad because I sent this steak back to be cooked TWICE since it was rare and they sent it back looking like some burnt ass jerky. It was well done and to a crisp. I'm guessing it was a manager that brought it out. You mean to tell me she couldn't see now BURNT it was? I wasn't mean or hateful to the waitress, I just wanted my food right. At this point, I'm over it. I told her that it still wasn't good but I would just deal with it because I didn't want to cause a scene. No one offered to take it off my bill and I didn't even eat it.
