Driving back from Montreal on Saturday night and this place open and yelp reviews varied mostly positive and nothing much else open. Glad we did.Great service first off. Peanuts fresh on every table ok to get messy noted in previous reviews shells on floor ok. Menu extensive hand cut steaks up to 32 oz! Plus all the other typical barbecue chicken ribs. Great sides: potatos every way including baked sweet potato with the whipped cinnamon butter. We opted for the ribs fall off the bone and warm BB sauce yum. Atmosphere is cool, good service, but the food... I started with a 'skinny lime' margarita which tasted like fountain drinks, overloaded with citric acid. For appetizer, I had a cactus blossom. It was nicely fried and seasoned but the 'Cajun horseradish' sauce only tasted horseradish. As for the main course, I had pulled pork and ribs. The pulled pork was dry...except for the fatty parts. And I'm pretty sure it's not a Texan recipe, because I couldn't taste black pepper at all. The 'award winning' ribs were a bit burnt, and it wasn't 'fall off the bone' tender. I love texas road house. The customer service is the best i have seen in the industry. They've made a few mistakes, but they have always been quick to fix it and make the situation more than o.k. I always come here twice a year. My birthday always being one of them. It truely is a special treat that i enjoy. I cant say enough about how awesome they are. and the food is top notch. I love this place. The sourdough buns and cinnamon butter, are delish. The Cactus Blossom is addictive. Whatever they spice it with just makes you keep picking at is even if you know you got lots more coming. The fall off the bone ribs really are fall off the bone. The burgers are so juicy and moist. The steak is cooked just right, always remember order both burger & steak medium rare. Sides are made fresh, order the rice, and the beans. The portions are so big my hubby and I always have some goodies to take home. Another plus is the staff, they are so friendly and the manager always comes around to see if we are satisfied. An excellent chain. I can't give 5 stars simply because I prefer small, independent restaurants. But overall I have very, very few negatives. Food is consistent. Atmosphere is fun. Love the random line dancing. Most servers go above and beyond. If you get a mixed specialty drink, get the bonus shooters. Worth the bucks every time (unless you're driving). I've been here twice, and I don't think you will find a better steak in Plattsburgh. The lines can be killer, but generally worth it. I've never been to Texas, so I cannot say anything about the authenticity. But who would you compare this to in Plattsburgh? Do get the rib eye. Delicious. They have lots of menu choices if you are just there to get a drink or if you are eating. They have very good service and they are pretty kind. Food was great, but being interrupted every 5-7 minutes to be asked by several different staff members "if everything was ok?" was highly annoying and rather rude when trying to eat and have dinner with friends. Checking in once or twice is to be expected, but this last trip there were a total of 7 times we were "checked on" within an hour. That's a bit excessive!! Let people eat in peace!!! read more

I stopped at Texas Roadhouse as a pit stop from Montreal back to downstate New York. I got the ribs and fried pickles, both were delicious! The ribs were cooked well and we're not overly-drenched in BBQ sauce. The service was also really good. Our waitress, Andrea, was super friendly and attentive. Other servers and the manager also came to check in on us. I would recommend this place to anyone. read more

Really love this place. The food is always really good, and man, those steaks are amazing. Try and take advantage of their specials (early dine, etc) because they make it even more affordable. The staff is really friendly, but sometimes I honestly wonder how well they're treated (probably not great...high turnover!!). Regardless, they're never rude or rush-y. Loved this place! First time at this chain and was super impressed. Whitney was fantastic server, and all the staff was very friendly. Rolls and cinnamon butter were delicious, and meals were a really good value. Family of four had two ribeye steaks, a fish and chips and a smothered chicken. We all had salads as one of the two sides that came with our meals and they were actually good size salads, house salads especially good and much better than most "house side salads". Chicken was very tasty, steaks very flavorful and overall pretty good. Same with the generous portions in the fish & chips. Overall very happy with this choice over the other restaurant chains along this commercial stretch in town. Will definitely visit another location for Texas Roadhouse in our travels. read more

We had a GREAT experience at this Texas Roadhouse. We were on our way home from Quebec Canada to Raleigh Nc and dropped in Plattsburgh for dinner here. We came in and we greeted by many hostesses who were super friendly all with smiles on their faces. Right then we felt welcomed. Each hostess tried helping us pick out our steaks, asking how many, and showing us to our seats. When we sat down, we were immediately greeted by our waitress Whitney. She was very knowledgeable about the menu and helped us decide what we each wanted to eat. It felt like she knew us! She got our waters (I'm a waitress and usually when 3 people order waters, they are immediately "cheap" and they're not taken care of as well as "drinkers") and she sat with us and talked and got personal. We really enjoyed her. She told us a little about herself and after some hardships she faced she still was able to keep a smile on her face and a complete positive attitude! When our food came, my mother didn't get her broccoli (it happens... no big deal) so we asked for the broccoli. The manager came over to bring it and apologized. The manager was sooo nice about it! Even if we thought it wasn't a big deal! The manager was so friendly! Then Whitney kept coming to check on us as we ate our food and kept our water glasses full. She disappeared for a few minutes to let us finish our dinner (as waitresses do so we can eat in peace) and when she came back, my father asked to speak to her manager (at first he wanted to tease her and make her think something was wrong but after getting to know her, my dad said "something good" Bc he didn't want to freak her out after getting to know her and he felt for her) so she brought the manager over. We told the manager how I am in the industry and we have NEVER had such great service from someone. She needs a raise or hopefully a promotion with that raise!! She really truly does!! Texas Roadhouse is sooo lucky to have Whitney (and the manager who I couldn't get her name bc she wasn't wearing a name tag). Both so friendly and great at their jobs. My family and I travel so much up north due to my son playing travel hockey and we will DEFINITELY be back anytime we can travel through Plattsburgh!! Our bill was $57 and I left her a $25 tip bc she deserved every penny! I wanted to give her 100% tip but I had just spent 2 1/2 weeks in Quebec and didn't have that much cash on me or money on my card. When my parents found out I was graduating, they immediately planned a trip to Canada to see me. I will spare you all the details, but their one request on the way back was to go to Texas Roadhouse before they returned home. As the time approached, they had some flight issues and it was looking more and more like we were going to be unable to go due the opening hours. We had made plans to visit another local establishment that my wife and I had been to once before. The problem was they were trying to leave Plattsburgh early in the day in order to make their way to Montpelier before it got too late. My wife and I were going to stay the night in a local hotel and could not check in until 3pm. On the way back down to Plattsburgh, my parents wanted us to show them a few things in the area. As it turned out, we arrived in Plattsburgh about 10 minutes before Texas Roadhouse opened. I talked to my parents and said, we may as well just wait the 10 minutes because it was one of the only things you wanted to do when you came up. We could not have been happier! The staff was friendly and welcoming from the moment we stepped into the place. Our waitress arrived promptly at the table to take our drink orders and even gave us time to go over the menu since we had never been. Anytime our drinks were empty she was on it right away to refill the drinks. Our food came quickly and was hot and delicious. At no point in time did an empty plate sit on our table for more than a few minutes before someone would whisk it away. It was a team effort on behalf of the waitstaff. We were VERY impressed with the food and service. They even gave us a few rolls with butter for the road. I don't know when, but I am sure we will be back. I just wish I was better at remembering names because those waiters and waitresses deserve recognition. read more

DO NOT COME HERE WITH AN OUT OF STATE ID!! A large group of my friends and I made reservations at the Texas Roadhouse location in Plattsburgh. As college students, we chose to dine here in hopes of celebrating our friend's 21st birthday. To our dismay, management denied our friend's Florida ID and claimed their policy requires another form of identification. Despite it being evidently clear that it was his 21st birthday, management refused to accept his ID. Considering this is a franchise that spans across the country with over 500 locations, I would assume that their alcohol/identification process would be public knowledge. To our surprise, there was no documentation on the internet validating the claims management was encinuatiyng. Unfortunately, our party of 14 decided to leave the restaurant and did not get to celebrate our friends highly anticipated 21st birthday. Terrible management. Terrible location. read more

Seriously, someone needs to read Ruhlman's 20 Techniques. There is so much salt in everything that you wonder if this is salt flavored with food instead of the other way around. The saving grace was the sirloin and the service. Too much food on the plate, so order accordingly or expect to take food home with you. I got the 8oz filet, ordered it medium and it came out raw. It is a steak place so this should not happen, but ok mistakes happen. The waitress who took it back thought it was a 4 oz because it was so small and I asked her to make sure they now don't over cook it. They returned the original steak to me burnt, the whole outside was charged black oh yah and it was still raw in the center. So the cook thought it was acceptable, the kitchen supervisor thought it was acceptable and the waitress that it was acceptable - that is why they are getting one star. read more

Our waitress was carrying around her baby and our waitress did not clear our plates. We barely had room for our food and one reason for that is because one of the steaks we got had so much slimy fat. Probably not going there often. But they had a little scavenger hunt and face painting. read more
