My wife and I love Texas roadhouse but this experience really turned us off. For starters we were seated at around 8:13pm from when I got the text message that our seat was ready and we ordered our food basically right away. We knew what we wanted before we came to the restaurant. So first thing I ordered my chilli to come before my meal and that never came. Second It came to the point where an hour went by from when we were seated and it was now 9:15 when I finally decided to get up and go to the front desk and ask where my food was right when the host upfront went to check she immediately came out with my food. I'm not sure if the server forgot our meal or the kitchen was slow but there was a table behind us that sat down 5-10 minutes after we got there and they got their food way before us. All I ordered was a steak medium rare with rice and chilli and my wife ordered a salmon with chilli. That's all we ordered nothing crazy. So right when we finally got our food an hour later then the manager came and apologized which I appreciated and then proceeded to tell us that we would get a 30% discount because no one should wait more than 20-25 minutes for their food. Well we are our food and then got the check and no 30% discount applied to our check. We didn't even bother telling the server that the discount wasn't applied we just wanted to get out of there. Went twice in the first month it opened, not like I hadn't ever been to a Texas Roadhouse but it was what the area had been longing for, some good southern food. I gave it four stars because every time I have gone the service is superb and every waiter/waitress is always memorable. Peanuts and drinks keep you busy while you wait for your table. The food, well it is a chain but you probably wouldn't know or care after diving into loaves of the hot and soft buns they give accompanied by the melt in your mouth cinnamon butter which you could probably put on just about anything. We have visited this place many times and had a very nice time. But today's visit was inexcusable. I ordered the Roadkill which consist of a chopped steak patty smothered with cheese and grill onions and mushrooms. I always order it med-well with no cheese, and no mushrooms. just onions. When my dinner came the patty was covered with grilled onions and mushrooms. It was brought to us by staff in the back, not our server who was also the bar tender. I say no please take this back, I asked for just grilled onions as I absolutely hate mushroom. The young man took it back. We waited about 5 minutes and the young man returned. I looked at the plate which was now cold and asked him if he took it back and picked all the mushrooms off. He said yes! I said absolutely unexceptionable!! So he took it back. Mean while our server came over and was completely unaware there was a problem since she was more focused on the people at the bar. Eventually a manager, at least I think he was as he never said, brought me the cold sweet potato to hold me over until I got my meal. It finally came after my husband had finished most of his rack of ribs. No one apologized or tried to make our situation better. I am so disappointed as this was my favorite place to eat. We finally made it here, well ,i got to say its so much fun! We started with the combo appetizers (wings,rattle snake bites,tater skins) for drinks i had sangria margaritas with a shot of patron....omg delish!! This place is beyond amazing. The atmosphere is loud and there's always something going on between birthday announcements and line dancing but it fits this restaurant perfectly. Our waitress Lauren was great and definitely made us feel welcomed. When the check came we were surprised at how cheap the meal was especially since we got such good quality and large portioned meals. We will definitely be coming back soon. Also, if you're planning on going during the prime dinner rush, it would definitely benefit you to call ahead. We did and when we arrived we didn't have to wait at all. Pretty bad start with an unfriendly hostess that showed the customer engagement skills of a bouncer. After that, it got much, much better. My boyfriend and I absolutely love Texas Roadhouse! Personally I've been to multiple locations and was impressed at the consistency between food, cleanliness, customer service, atmosphere, etc. Even those busy nights where the wait might be a bit long it's completely understandable because the food and service is totally worth it and the hostesses make sure to stay on top of the tables so as soon as people are leaving the waiting hungry customers are able to be seated right away. Well. There wasn't really any wait. So that's a plus. Now for the minuses. We're we're seated by the bathroom and immediately we notice a strong smell every time someone visited the ladies room and the door closed a gust of strong bleach came over us. We made it halfway through the appetizers before we just had to ask to move to another table. Holy cow this is long. Then my daughters steak came out red when we ordered it well done. 10-15 mins later they bring it back out but by that time dinner turns into a waiting game. We go to Texas Roadhouse frequently. 1. The staff is amazing. They are friendly, attentive, polite, hard working young men and women. The owner and his wife are literally in the trenches every day. They deliver food, clear plates, cook in the kitchen, seat customers. I'm not surprised the staff works as hard as they do. Some little things that mean alot: Salad bowls are always cold. I've been to "high end" restaurants with room temperature salad plates. Always properly staffed. If my server is busy when my food comes up, someone else delivers it to my table. The bus-people are amazing too. When a table breaks, they attack and clean and have the table ready for waiting customers in no time at all. 2. The food is perfect for me. I like to eat somewhat healthy. I like to eat until I'm comfortable not stuffed. Last night I had a house salad. The dressing comes on the side so I can control it. I had one pork chop (290 calories) and I asked for some gravy on the side. Again, I control how much gravy. Finally, I had mixed vegetables. The lemon butter adds just enough extra taste for me. Yes I had one of their famous rolls and some peanuts. I was perfectly content when I was done. You can order as much as you like. I like being able to order just what I want. If I order too much food, I tend to eat it all, or continue to snack until we leave, i.e., eating more than I really want. Just because I eat small doesn't mean you have to. 3. My wife had a similar meal. We choose to skip desert, though we do love the Granny Apple Classic. We walked out having spent $33.00. That was with a $10.00 tip because the service was excellent. 4. If the food didn't taste great, none of the above would matter. If you don't believe me, look at the parking lot. A large number of people go every night. That does not happen with poor or average food. Every steak I've had has been cooked perfectly. No exaggeration, and trust me I have consumed over 100 pounds of steak from this Texas Roadhouse location. 5. I do have one complaint. They serve sweet potatoes. I personally think they should be illegal. My wife on the other hand loves them and gets them with the honey-cinnamon-butter that comes with the rolls. I guess I can live with that. Everything's Bigger in Texas "Let's go to Texas!" my friend Alyssa exclaimed while we debated on where to go for dinner one night. Now, Alyssa is a trustworthy friend whose opinion I can always rely on, so it's only natural that I would willingly put the fate of my digestive system in her hands. However, I had no idea what she meant by "Texas," and I was not about to travel 1,825 miles south on an empty stomach for a single meal. To my relief, Alyssa was referring to a chain restaurant called Texas Roadhouse, located only 20 minutes away from SUNY New Paltz in Kingston, NY. It is evident that I had never paid this establishment a visit before and I certainly did not know what to expect from it. I can tell you that I now have a new haven to satisfy my tastes when a craving for southern comfort-food arises. As you walk up the steps leading to Texas Roadhouse, you are faced with a neon sign that puts great emphasis on the fact that the restaurant is Texas-themed, as it includes a silhouette of the state. Directly upon entering, you are greeted by the smoky, charcoal-filled scent of barbecue, along with a large showcase of delectable-looking hand-cut steaks. If you were planning on ordering anything but meat here, the mere act of walking into the place would be enough to change your mind (sorry vegetarians and vegans). As I was escorted to the table, the mix of roadhouse decor and American memorabilia caught my eye and interest. Maybe the most intriguing snippet of the night, though, was when my table was given a bucket loaded with peanuts and instructed to throw the shells onto the ground, an apparent custom of the chain. This seems like a great tactic to bring in families with young children, since they seem to throw everything on the floor, especially food. Along with the peanuts, we were served freshly made bread with a cinnamon-butter spread as an appetizer. Let me tell you, this bread and spread combination excited every taste bud in my mouth and left me speechless, aside from the occasional "mmmm." Many reviewers share my opinion on this component of the meal, one even stating that it's "complete crack" ("Katherine C.'s Reviews"). The bread is so addicting that my friends and I finished more than one basket of it before our actual dinners came out! Saying that the appetizer was good would be a vast understatement and an almost criminal insult to its deliciousness. So far, I was more than pleased with my experience and had nothing bad to say about it. Nevertheless, my main concern surrounded the entree that I received. I ordered a pulled-pork dinner, which I had high expectations for because of the lovely time I was having so far. The only complaint I have was that the food took a little longer than usual to come out, but I will gladly excuse the extra time I waited for the food because of it high-quality. It's safe to say that the plate of tender, slow cooked pork I was given met all of my hopes at the moment, and then some. Never had I consumed pulled-pork before that tasted this good, the secret probably lying in Texas Roadhouse's "signature BBQ sauce." Many restaurants can state that their food is cooked with careful attention to detail, but they end up serving unappetizing "food" that comes out half-frozen instead. On the other hand, you can taste the truth of Texas Roadhouse's claim in their cuisine. My friends raved about their dishes as well, both stating that it definitely "hit-the-spot." In my books, a food establishment can be deemed a hit if it has the capability of fulfilling the desires of all of my friends' appetites, and this one did just that. At the end of the day, a restaurant can hold as much greatness as that of the Golden Age of a Zyengland, but it will not bring in customers if its prices are too high. Luckily, Texas Roadhouse does not present this dilemma. The fare served here has the quality of a steakhouse, but comes at the price of any usual dinner chain. Sometimes the prices here are even better than the prices of its competitors. For instance a New York Strip Steak at Texas Roadhouse costs $16.29, while the same thing is offered at Red Lobster for $21.50 ("Red Lobster: Menu."; "Texas Roadhouse Menu"). As you can see, one can save major bucks while not skimping on excellence by choosing to dine at Texas Roadhouse. If you like superior food offered at a reasonable price with service to match, I highly suggest you venture outside of your usual dining spot options and choose the roadhouse instead. Alyssa's boyfriend takes her here on dates all the time, and she is never displeased because she genuinely enjoys the food. I can't say that her happy relationship can be fully attributed to the roadhouse, but it probably plays a big part in it. So take a chance and try Texas Roadhouse the next time you go out to eat. But Tyler,, I wAs complaining about my drink being all ice. I thought you were resolving the issue by sending out another drink with no ice,,,, but when I got the bill,, I was charged for 2 drinks with kickers which I didn't receive with the second one. Let me start by saying my girlfriend and I have been in the service industry for 8 years plus and this is by far one of the worst restaurant experiences we've ever had. The bartender couldn't even find the steelers game on NBC for starters AND the manager couldn't find the Knicks game on MSG. We sat at a filthy bar. We watched the bartenders grab glasses from inside of the glass. I asked for Hott sauce and was told there wasn't any. It was impossible to get anyone's attention. Watched people sit at the bar for 15 minutes before even being acknowledged. I could list a million things but what happened next theirs no comparison too. The bartender thought it would be a funny joke to tell one of the servers it was my birthday. While in the middle of eating dinner the young girl brought over a saddle on a high chair and told me to get on it because it was my birthday. My response was I'm not getting on the high chair saddle because ITS NOT MY BIRTHDAY and she said yes you are. Newly opened, I went with my daughter and grandchildren on a Thursday @ 4:30. No wait. There are many employees and the service is excellent. Different folks are constantly checking if anything is needed or if they can remove plates. My Granddaughter enjoyed it when nearly the entire staff broke out in a line dance to a country song. The food is typical TexMex fare, served quickly, well prepared and very fresh. My Chili was excellent and my daughter had the smothered chicken. She said it was one of the best chicken breasts she's had. That brings me to my only complaint. I don't like chicken breast, but I love wings, thighs and drumsticks, none of which can be had there, unless you order a roasted or barbequed half chicken which is still mostly breast. Boneless wings. White meat. Fried chicken. White meat only. This place is bustling and very loud, not conducive to a quiet intimate meal, but if you're hungry and don't have your heart set on real Buffalo wings or fried chicken, you can't go wrong. read more
