Had to find the manager to get silverware after we asked the waitress twice. 3 of 4 meals showed up the 4th was never "put in", so 20 minutes after the rest were done eating I just took mine to go. And to add insult to injury my order wasn't even right. Never again. read more

I have heard so many different reviews about this place from my close friends... we really took our time to go check it out... the main complaints were: pricey, small portions, ok flavor - and to say the least... not even close, I enjoyed the evening, except one small thing, when the staff gets up and dances down the isles like morons, I know they are trying to loosen up every one but the music is so loud and when your out for a nice quiet night it kind of runes it. Texas road house is delicious, prices are about $20 for a steak (everything is a la carte) but my god... this place has ALL other steakhouses beat!(AROUND TYLER) The service, the ambiance, the food, the desserts.... the drinks.......... just so damn good.... so do yourself a favor and if you have been swayed by bad reviews PLEASE go check it out... it is outstanding! Overall, it's a nice place. Satisfies the steak craving when I'm too lazy to cook myself and I don't feel like spending a fortune at an upscale chophouse. I avoided this place when I lived here and now regret doing so. I couldn't see aside all the cheesy "tourist's version of Texas" atmosphere and the fact that it's a national franchise and that was my loss. While visiting family in Tyler last weekend we came here and I was pleasantly surprised. The chicken fried steak (something that sadly doesn't exisit in my new home of San Francisco) was perfect with a fantastic gravy, and I couldn't have asked for a better baked sweet potato. The tall mugs of cold Shiner Bock of didn't hurt either of course. The staff were incredibly helpful and nice as well. So the next time you think about coming here, look past the faux-"Disney Texas" atmosphere and give the food and service a chance. You'll be glad you did. read more

Man, I am pleased with this place! I come here often when I visit Tyler (which is pretty often, maybe once a month or two). Even on busy nights, the staff works hard to get people in and out without disrupting the atmosphere of a steakhouse. I usually get Andy's steak (which is off the kid's menu...no shame here) and mashed potatoes. I love the peanuts on the table, so fun. My wife and I are both Veterans. I Retired from the Air Force and she was an Officer in the Navy so we decided to eat here today because this restaurant USUALLY takes VERY GOOD CARE of Veterans on Veterans Day! We have eaten here every year for over 6 years since moving to East Texas from San Antonio and not just on Veterans Day. We ordered from the allowed menu after having to ask for our waitress after we had been seated for some time. When we asked who it was, she came over after she finished with another table. The three tables next to us each had their own waitress, but ours had about 4-6?? SAMANTHA showed up with a chip on her shoulder and took our drink order, but we told her we were ready to give her the whole thing since we are "Roadies" and knew the menu. We even ordered an appetizer of Rattlesnake Bites so we could at least pay for something and we didn't have breakfast. Well, after about ten minutes, we got our salads, then came our app minus one cheeseball, and then SAMANTHA showed up with our Tea and each had two limes on top of the ice although we asked for them to be on the side. Her attitude showed back up when she set the drinks down and spilled tea on my side of the table and just walked off! When I got my pulled pork dinner right after that, my rolls were too lightly toasted, so the server who brought them, took them back to be cooked/toasted a bit more as I had originally asked them to be. Unfortunately, SAMANTHA returned with them burnt around the edges, see photo. I asked to speak with a manager and when Austin appeared, he offered to get me new ones, but did NOT replace EVERYTHING so by the time I did get more my food was room temperature! We were very disappointed this year and because it ruined our appetite we brought home most of it in containers! I understand that it was a free meal, but it could have been staffed better so SAMANTHA wasn't so overwhelmed that it affected her demeanor and our meal. One more thing that really bothers me about this Location is that they advertise on their uniforms about how much they "Love our Vets", yet they can't or refuse to put the Flags of each Branch of Service in the CORRECT ORDER! I have spoken to several "Managers" over the past 6 or 7 YEARS and have even been told "It will be corrected", but are still incorrect!! I would be glad to show them the correct order and have told them how they should be, but they ARE STILL IN THE WRONG ORDER. THEY SHOULD BE: ARMY, MARINES, NAVY, AIR FORCE, AND COAST GUARD. Texas Roadhouse - Burnt rolls off of my Pulled pork dinner. - Steakhouses Near Me - Tyler, Texas

Something about a chain headquartered in Kentucky calling itself Texas Anything has been somewhat of a turnoff for me, so I have never frequented Texas Roadhouse. Last night, however, after 3 days of strenuous yard work at the lake I decided to visit the Tyler location for two reasons: (1) The rave reviews on yelp, and (2) It's stellar local reputation. Oh, and (3) I was hungry for some protein. Arriving at just before 7:00 on Wednesday evening the parking lot was jam packed and people were waiting outside for their table. Fortunately, this location caters heavily to families so I was was relieved to find a few seats available at the bar since I was dining alone. The bar service was dead on perfect; the two young ladies working the bar took good care of everyone as they had need and were fun and friendly to boot. I was rather disappointed in the wine selections by the glass. Their house pour cabernet is a Redwood Creek - strictly a fair wine and the upgrade is Barefoot. I would like to have seen, and gladly paid for, a premium option. However, at $5.47 per glass I won't complain too much. As I perused the menu I enjoyed one of four hot rolls placed before me. I hated to waste the other 3 but I was here for protein. I finally settled on the 10 ounce prime rib, medium rare, with seasoned rice and green beans. Served with sides of au jus and horseradish, the prime rib was nicely seasoned, but a tad over cooked - more of a medium really. The seasoned rice was quite garlicky, and last night my palate appreciated that. The green beans were nicely seasoned, and quite flavorful. Rating this experience was tough for me. Service and atmosphere were solid 5 stars. The wine selection cost a star and the overcooked prime rib cost 1/2 star. Since I can't award 3.5 stars I decided to round up to four. After all, this chain headquartered in Kentucky did the Texas thing pretty dang well. And as for value for the money - ($34.06 before tip) - this is tough to beat. read more

Steak was good for the price and cooked just the way I ordered it which don't always happen. I love this place! The ribeyes rock with a loaded sweet potato and the kids love the ribs... and yes, they do fall right off the bone. Surprisingly, they salmon here is amazing too! Be careful and dont get too full on the bread, its easy to do. On weekends it gets really full and so the service is not as good as it usually is, but if you just want to hang out and have a few drinks, its nice and they have a full bar. This location leaves a lot to be desired. Our party of 5 decided to give it another chance last night. We were seated immediately & that's a plus. Our server was friendly & attentive. My problem lies with the food itself. I've stopped ordering steaks because they're rarely cooked to order. They no longer ask you to cut into your steak when it arrives because they know it's probably a crap shoot. Instead, I opted for the bbq chicken & a sweet potato. The sweet potato wasn't hot enough to melt the butter & the chicken breast was barely warm but I ate it anyway. My husband had prime rib, med rare. It was a pretty sad looking piece of meat & it, too, was barely warm. He ate it anyway because the au jus was hot. My dad had a sirloin ordered med rare & it was med well. He sent it back & another was not brought back to our table until we had finished eating. In fact, we had received the check before his steak arrived, mentioned it to the server & she apologized. She said normally a manager will bring the steak, but that didn't happen. My dad asked for a takeout container since he figured he would just feed it to their dog. By the time the steak came, however, he just sent it back & asked that it be removed from his ticket altogether. That restaurant is now out of the rotation. They have had several opportunities to redeem themselves in the past year or so, but I am done with them. I like these places because the chopped steak with a sweet potato and vegetables is not only reasonably-priced but paleo-friendly, and this location was perfectly good. Amber was a brisk, efficient server, and the parking was ample. The wait Saturday night -- 30-40 minutes for a party of two -- was too long, so we just went for a late lunch on Sunday, but they seem to have some sort of call-ahead seating thing going on. read more

It seems like every time we go in TR there is a wait--the food is pretty darn good so that's to be expected. This last visit was no exception. There were several parties waiting and many employees milling about the hostess stand. Imagine my surprise when we were seated in a completely empty section...why the wait? Anyways, our server Brooke was outstanding. That lady is fast and attentive and she gets it right the first time. She was handling several tables at once and did a fantastic job. The food--tried the fried onion appetizer and thought it was just ok. I'll try something else next time. Salads were amazing as usual. I'd come here just to have a salad any day. This visit I ordered country fried chicken instead of my usual prime rib and I wasn't disappointed. Hubs ordered the usual NY strip and fries. Both entrees were great. The only downside to TR is the NOISE and the weird wait for the empty section but no way is that a deal breaker--we will be back! read more

My husband and I ordered the loaded baked potato. He asked for no sour cream on his. When our food came I could see that his potato had sour cream. It was brought to the waitress' attention and she said just swap the potatoes to the right plates and hurried off. So I forked my potato to move it to my husbands plate and see that it has sour cream also, and the potato falls in the salad bowl crumbling all over. About that time our original server checks with us and tell him of the problem. He quickly brought my husband the correct potato. The food was good except my herb grilled chicken was too salty for me. Also the shredded cheddar cheese on the potatoes was very salty too. My husband enjoyed the 12oz rib eye. read more

The fresh-baked, homemade rolls brought to the table really did it for me; the cinnamon butter is to die for. It was almost like having a dessert before the meal. The peanuts to snack on at the table didn't hurt either. My mom and I shared the 6oz sirloin and grilled shrimp with a baked potato and a house salad. I am not one for red meat usually, especially steak, but if all steaks were made like this one, I could eat it every day. Between the steak and the rolls, I was in absolute heaven. The grilled shrimp had a nice flavor, accompanied with garlic butter (fresh lemon squeezed in is key). The house salad with honey mustard was good enough, nothing out of this world. Our waitress was incredibly attentive and nice. The only thing I'd fault TR for is that they charge $1.00 for baked potato sides (cheese/bacon); it usually just comes with butter and sour cream. No where else that I've been does that; (Saltgrass, Outback Steakhouse). The amount of cheese and bacon that they gave us didn't really warrant the upcharge, though I'd definitely come back here if given the chance; I will dream about the steak we had for months to come. read more

We visited this steakhouse while in Tyler, the steak was cook perfectly, rolls were to die for. Now some not so great news, chicken fried steak/ sirloin steak was pretty good. I'm a HUGE gravy fan, the white gravy on the chicken fried steak had cinnamon and sugar in it, not sure if they accidentally used the cinnamon butter in the gravy or what, but I do not like cinnamon in my gravy. YUCK.The waitress seemed overwhelmed it took over an hour to get our food. I will go back I'll just try something else though. read more

Ive always had a good experience everytime Ive been here. Of course there are bound to be issues, at least once. Whether it be an overcooked dish, messed up order, etc. We are all human. To start me and my wife normal love going to this place to eat especially we love steak. But on this occasion I order the 20oz ribeye and added mushrooms to it thats 24 dollars I ordered it medium which is supposed to be a hot pink center. Well it came out alittle over cook on the inside but that's not the big issue after moving the mushrooms off of it I noticed a big burnt spot on the steak.i called the waitress over to let her know that I wasn't wanting a new steak because me and my wife had thing to do and wasn't wanting it for free I was just wanting to make her aware of it. She said she would tell the manager and he would come over and talk with us she came back and apologized and said the manager would comp some of our meal . We get the check which was 53 dollars and see that he took off 7 dollars for my inconvenience and never came and talk to us. I thought really 7 dollars he could of keep the 7 dollars and just came to our table and offered his apology that would of ment more than the 7 dollar savings. Steak wasnt even edible. All gristle and fat. I asked for it to be taken off the bill and waitress rolled her eyes and got the manager. She didnt believe me i guess? The manager came and asked why i didnt like it. I said its not that i didnt like its that it was inedible. A german shepard wouldnt be able to eat that steak. They offered me a replacement steak instead but my family was already done with their food and i didnt want to wait 20 minutes and sit there eating awkwardly by myself. My familys steaks were fine. Im 8 months pregnant and had a glucose screening the next morning which i failed miserably because i had filled up on free bread rolls the night before. I had been working all night and ate sparingly for lunch as i was excited for the meal and so hungry lol. Went back for a 3 hour glucose test a week later which was really awful (thanks guys) but i passed with flying colors. Anyways will not be coming back. read more

I get it, it's Saturday night and this place is chaos. My wife and I go nearly every Saturday and the crowd/wait time is usually about the same. But for whatever reason tonight they just slacked. We get there around 7:45 after checking in online, hostess at the front hands us our little buzz thing and says it's going to be about another 30 minutes for us no big deal, we wait...and wait...and wait. We notice that couples who checked in after us were being seated before us when I heard the hostess tell them it was gonna be an hour or so wait. 8:45 rolls around so after seeing four couples and quite a few large parties go in before us we decide to call it. Then the hostess didn't even apologize after it was brought to her attention, just said "thank you" as if we had actually done her a favor. This place has always had really good food. The only problem I have with this place is that there isn't another one. It seems like they really need to expand or just build another Texas Road House. I don't think having to wait 45min is a fun experience. The entrance gets so packed that there are people standing in the entrance because there is no where else to go.
