Stopped into this Texas roadhouse this evening for dinner during my travels. The hostess advised us. It was going to be a 10 minute wait. I challenged her and said there's no way it's going to be a 10 minute wait because it's super crowded. Wow couldn't believe it right at the 10 minute mark she called out name. I ordered an 8oz Dallas filet, medium well slightly pink inside and it was made to perfection. Amanda was our waitress and she was super efficient, fast, and served our food with a smile. For my sides I ordered a bowl of chili and a salad... highly recommend both. Restaurant was super clean...the bathrooms are clean and no issues with cleanliness. Whitley didn't just serve our table--she saved the night/review (and maybe deserves a cape and a promotion). The food leaned a little salty--steak, ribs, fries, veggies--and the fries came out soggy. The atmosphere wasn't helping either: flies buzzing, upset customers, burnt-out lights, and a general sense of being understaffed. When the manager/lead asked if "everything was great" and I said "it was alright," there was... crickets. Regulars clearly get VIP treatment, when everyone else could use a little extra love. Then Whitley arrived. She immediately noticed something was off and, without being pushy, skillfully got me to share what was really going on. Her intuition, attentiveness, and genuine care completely turned the experience around. She didn't just serve us--she made us feel seen, valued, and cared for. Honestly, Whitley is the real MVP. My son and I here yesterday. Larry provided excellent service. We both ordered the Smokehouse burger which is: Sautéed mushrooms, onions, BBQ sauce, lettuce, tomato and onion with American and jack cheeses served on a Texas-sized bun with steak fries and a pickle spear. The bun consistency was that of an old bun. Very dry and tasteless. Completely out of character for this location in my experience. I ate the patty with a knife and fork. Enjoyed it that was so much the I probably order without the bun going forward. I'm not sure there was BBQ sauce on mine though it still tasted good. The meat needs less salt. (And I say this even while I love salt.) The seasoning they put on the fries is good and it had me thinking if they sold it. I like my fries much more crispy though. Horrible experience with Kassandra. She didn't know the menu or what she was trying to serve us at all then was clearly embarrassed by it and treated us like trash the entire visit. Dropped off our food, never checked back. Never cleaned up the dirty salad bowls, we had to ask for refills, she didn't even bother bringing the check so we had to pay on their little computer thing. I was a server for many years so I know what to watch for and she wasn't busy and was paying attention to the tables around us. Hey Kassandra, I hope you enjoyed the .01 cent tip we left you. The woman sitting across from us always has a scowl and drinking a glass of wine..so she had a problem with MY vaping (no1 ever has a problem with it). She's always giving me a nasty look. Best sit down place in Victoria. Consistently good quality steaks, chicken and seafood. Ice cold beer on tap. Delicious rolls with cinnamon butter. Be prepared to wait for a table. The locals know this is the best place in town and they come out in droves. We usually eat at the bar to avoid the wait. The bar staff are always very friendly. If you want a good tender steak this is about as decent a place as you can find for the price. The hot rolls they give you are homemade and they come with whipped cinnamon butter and are absolutely great. In my opinion they are the best thing offered at this restaurant. When you come in the front door they have steaks under glass right next to where they are making the hot rolls homemade. The rolls smell wonderful and definitely make you want to pick out a steak. You can pick the one you want and have it cooked for you the way you like it. You can also just order one off the menu. We have eaten here twice now, the second time I got a chicken dish with a Portabella mushroom sauce that was pretty good. My daughter got ribs which were extremely dry and not very tasty. The sides don't have much imagination it's just plain mashed potatoes, french fries, corn, green beans and such. We've had a chance to sample multiple sides and again there's just not much to them. For the price the food is decent and the steaks are tender and do taste good. The rolls, like I said are awesome and I ate way too many both times that I went. The atmosphere is nice and when you are there during a sporting event they have TVs all around the walls playing every sporting game imaginable. What is going on w/ our Roadhouse?!? We use to have a good Roadhouse. I thought w/ a lady manager it would be good.WRONG!! She doesn't care what kind of food come out of the kitchen. I have been going to Texas roadhouse for at least 15 years and I have never once had a bad experience. I decided to try the Texas roadhouse in Victoria Texas. I had the driest medium well steak I have ever tasted in my life it was no butter no juice on the plate, I waited six months to eat a steak because we moved into a small town and had to drive all the way to Victoria to eat it horrible disappointment. In my 76 years I have never seen a more enthusiastic, gracious server as Christsia (sic) in the Victoria Texas Roadhouse. We came in to eat our Christmas Eve dinner...and ended up ordering "to go" our Christmas Day dinner. If there is any form of recognition she can receive...she deserves it!!! Our children know that Texas Roadhouse is our favorite place to eat and sends us gift cards for all our major events (birthdays, anniversaries, holidays etc) and because of your servers we will continue to do so and encourage others to visit your establishment. read more

So I know that Roadhouse doesn't take reservations but can get on the wait list. I knew we were going to have a large party for tonight so called the day before and asked if it was going to be a problem to get seated at 6:30 for Saturday- had people coming in from out of town - was told no just call an hour ahead- so called at 5:30 to be told no could not be seated there are no guarantees be 8:30 or later asked to speak to manager and she was like well more or less too bad. We had to wait to be seated, but it was after 7pm and a Saturday. Then we got our drinks. After we ordered our food it was over 40 minutes till we got our food. We had to send both steaks back because they were both over cooked. Then we waited another 20 minutes to get the redone steaks. Once we were done eating , then we waited another 20 minutes till the waitress come back to check on us. Then we asked for 2 waters to go and she brought 1 water to go. This happens just about evertime we come to eat here. There's always something wrong with our food. I guess we'll wait another 3 months till we come back. By the time we got our check we were very upset. P.S. The food is always over salted!! I also want to know if its this restaurant's policy to have their customers eat half of their food while they fix whats wrong with the other half. We (2) arrived a little early (at 5:15) and were told they would check us in but we could not be seated until party was complete. No mention that a table was not available. All of our party arrived before 5:30. By 6:00 p.m. multiple parties had been seated ahead of us. Upon questioning the hostess (several times) she finally said our table was still occupied. Ok. After roughly 4 visits I am finally writing my review. The good - It's a casual spot ( like most places in Victoria) where you can enjoy some burgers, sandwiches, steak, etc. It's family friendly. There is plenty of parking. The food is palatable and reasonably-priced. The bad- In all my visits I never once had good service. The staff, including the manager on duty each visit, is unprofessional and even immature at times. There was always loitering and flirting among the staff at the hostess' counter. The wait staff was slow and inattentive. I regularly had food items missing from my order. On 2 separate occasions I had to go to the bar to order and retrieve drinks.i was able to do this before the waitress ever returned to my table. The ugly - I was shocked to find out that when I asked for the manager to express my concerns, that he was among those loitering near the restaurants entrance. Pi never really felt that my concerns were heard or addressed. Overall, to preserve my nerves, I've decided never to return. The customer service was some of the worst that I have ever experienced. Went to eat a early dinner at the Texas Roadhouse and very very disappointed. After we ordered and she brings out our food, she ask if we need anything else. We said yes, steak sauce and she disappears. We steak fries was cold, corn was hard ,( like it was cook yesterday) and We waited and waited, but she never came back until we were finished eating. I got uo and went to another table.to get some different steak sauce, not the kind we wanted, but I wanted to eat my steak while it was hot. We come here pretty often usually weekly.. lately the service has been crap. Not sure why but we've noticed the orders are usually cold, lack flavor, the salad mix they use taste like it hasn't been washed and has remains of pesticides that have been used. If you come during the week chances are the bread served will be the bread that's been sitting under the light for the past hour cold, over cooked and chewy. You can tell when they're running out of sides because the portions are cut in half and typically cold. It seems that if you visit on a weekday you actually wait even longer to actually receive your food then you do during a busy weekend day. Many of the servers they are hire are unprofessional but it makes sense when you see the manager. Manager is pretty useless, don't bother having him come to your table because he won't do anything to resolve any issues.
