I was impressed that there were some Vietnamese dishes on the menu. My brother had the Pho and he liked it. The young staff was not very knowledgable on the menu and not particularly friendly or attentive. They appeared to be more focused on their phones. As my wife and I entered Texas Seafood on March 1, 2015, we were greeted by very friendly Jeremy, who showed us the specials and told us to sit anywhere we wished and menus would be brought to us. Valerie brought our menus and took our orders. My wife ordered fried catfish, baked potato, and salad. I ordered a combination plate of two fried catfish fillets, five fried shrimp, and five fried oysters. She brought our drinks shortly afterward. Within five minutes Valerie brought our tossed salads which were delicious. We had barely finished our salads when Jeremy brought our orders. He told us he would be right back with our sauces. He brought Tabasco, catsup, red sauce, sriracha, and tartar sauce. Jeremy asked me which sauce I preferred and I told him, red sauce. He, then, dipped some red sauce in a small sauce container, added a small amount of sriracha, and stirred it in. It was spicy and delicious! I consider myself an authority in judging seafood, both grilled and fried. This was among the best if not The best fried seafood I've ever eaten. Even the French fries were as good as it gets! My wife whole heartedly agrees with me. And the amount of food? I couldn't hold it all. I don't ever remember leaving any seafood at a restaurant. As we left the restaurant, I suggested to Jeremy that Texas Seafood Restaurant relocate to Tyler which is near Flint, Texas, where my wife and I live. Pretty fair. Doubtful that you are eating anything but tilapia there, but putting that suspicion aside it is a decent joint. However, slow down on the SALT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please! I am of the opinion that 99% of things you get are under-seasoned, but this place truly just uses too much salt. even on grilled vegetables. Tried the Pho as well - pretty tasty- but meatballs were gristly. other than that - good flavor in broth and accompaniments. Best : Grilled seafood - shrimp/scallop/fish is all good. Terrible place! From the moment we walked in it was a bad experience! We were not even greeted and I almost walked out then but made a terrible decision to stay. Finally we were seated and were given a drink right off the bat which was the only good thing that happened. Our order was taken. Came out wrong. Oysters were so nasty. My husband questioned what meat they even contained. No one ever came back to check on us so I just ate my order as was. Never got any drink refills or spoke with our waitress again until she saw us waiting in line for 15 min with our credit card in hand. No tip given for sure! read more

Went for the second time tonight. The food is very reasonably priced. My mom and daughter enjoyed their seafood, my fried rice was a bit dry. However, it was still tasty and enjoyable. We will go back for the quality and price. read more

I like this place/ very laid back feel to the restaurant. love the seafood here. they also have a small vietnamese menu which is cool. they have so many different combination of seafood you can select from and you and have it fried or grilled. I have tried their fried seafood platter which had fish shrimp and oysters(3 of my fav kind of seafood that taste even better fried!)it was good. tasted fresh and had no fishy smell unlike some places... oh, also the boiled crawfish is the BOMB.COM. I don't know whats in the seasoning but its addicting! They also serve alcohol for those that like a beer or two with their meal :) crawfish + beer = happy tummy. read more

I'm usually skeptical about inexpensive seafood restaurants, but this one was good! The fish tasted nice and fresh. Grilled flounder, shrimp, and veggies (zucchini, squash, etc). The Pho looked really enticing, I'll have to try it when I return. It's a clean, casual restaurant with tacky oceanic decorations on the sea-colored walls. Yuck! I tried this restaurant because it had 4 stars, but I was VERY disappointed. Our waitress wouldn't let me husband substitute fried rice for fries (but she offered to sub a baked potato which costs more). The atmosphere is cheap and shabby. Worst of all, tho, was the food. We went to Texas Seafood to celebrate our anniversary due to the positive ratings. What a disappointment! The food lacked any flavor and was poorly cooked. My 6 grilled scallops were actually only pieces that were either halved or quartered. Shrimp was overlooked and tasteless. Server asked my husband if he wanted to keep his fork when she cleared the salad plates rather than just bringing him another like most restaurants would. Not fine dining at all - actually not even good or decent dining. What a wasted celebration. We'll never go there again! read more

If you're looking for a place that provides friendly, attentive, and informative service - this is not the place to go. My husband and I tried this restaurant for the first (and only) time yesterday. We were pleased that the menu included grilled items as well as fried. I ordered the shrimp gumbo, which was so salty that no other flavor came through. I ate the shrimp and left all the "gravy". My husband ordered the grilled redfish - menu stated that all grilled items topped with crawfish etouffee - his plate came to the table with a baked potato, grilled veggies, and one small "redfish" fillet with NO etouffee on top. I had to find our server to inform him that the etouffee was left off the plate. His response was, "Oh, I'm sorry", so I figured that he would soon bring a small bowl to our table. I was wrong! My husband ate the fillet, which, "had the texture of hard rubber". The server NEVER returned to our table for any reason. As we were at the cashier's counter paying $26 for mostly inedible shrimp gumbo and an incomplete dish of grilled redfish, the server then let us know that they were out of etouffee. read more
