Nothing ordered was bland and eh! First started with fried alligator, it was yummy! My picky eater son ordered nuggets, they are made from scratch and he loved them. My daughter fried shrimp and wasn't disappointed. My husband and I ordered the boiling pot. I in Mild and he did spicy. OMGx 20! The juice from the shrimp I just wanted to drink, the crab was not overcooked and wasn't dry. Everything there was delicious. My husband had our leftovers for lunch and he said it was even better as the shrimp and snow crab had more time to marinate. Before I left I had to give leave my compliments to the chef. I was really looking forward to eating here based on all the reviews. I don't know if they were having an "off" night but it was awful. From the time we were seated we felt like an afterthought. It took our waitress 30 minutes to bring out our drinks! We ordered an appetizer of calamari and it wasn't too bad, not the best but definitely flavorful. The bad part was the appetizer came out about 2 minutes before the food which was about 45 minutes! We had to keep flagging down the waitress for silverware and drink refills. The food was inedible, my shrimp was tough and overcooked and the oysters were not fresh...a friend who joined us for dinner ordered the oysters also and they smelled and tasted bad. None of us ate our oysters! The crab cake did not have any visible crab in it and tasted overly seasoned. So I ordered the pho, so what? If it's on the menu, it should be good. The pho broth was good, but the ingredients were of such poor quality. Meatballs that tasted like cartilage and fatty brisket that was more fat than brisket. Get the shrimp. Those are great, but you wouldn't know without asking that the all you can eat shrimp are small popcorn shrimp. Went on a Friday during Lent. Big mistake as I'm not Catholic and observing a red-meat-restriction. Crowded & overwhelmed is an understatement in the status of the poor waitstaff & kitchen. Now, the good news: the food was worth 4 stars. Delicious, fresh, and plentiful. Their fried items weren't too greasy, crawfish had a good flavor but not too hot, grilled items were a bit on the salty side, but still worth the price. Stopped in on road trip from Austin to Aransas WLR. Food was very good and interesting fusion of Vietnamese and Cajun. Fried Alligator appetizer was excellent and the spicey Asian dipping sauce vs cocktail sauce or ketchup was a nice twist. Seafood Gumbo wasn't really a true gumbo but more like a seafood soup thickened with corn starch but still tasty. The blackened redfish was slightly over cooked but well seasoned but not overly so. I LOVE THIS PLACE! FRESH, fresh, fresh seafood, generous portions, and really great service. What more can you ask for? They also have a small Vietnamese menu that is excellent -- try the crispy noodle combo. As for seafood: I ordered off the "Grill" menu -- stuffed flounder, jumbo shrimp, veggies and fried rice. I ATE EVERYTHING ON MY PLATE! My boyfriend prefers fried over grilled so he got one of the "Combination" plates -- 2 fish fillets and 6 shrimp with a fully loaded baked potato. Everything tasted great and wasn't too greasy; AND there was extra food to take home even after he ate his fill! Highly recommended! Taste is great! I never thought about going to this little place but it really is a jewel in Victoria. My favorite plates are the Grilled pork shrimp and noodles, and the Crawfish ettouffee. This place wasnt that great. Smells, food isnt that good and some undercooked, floors a bit dirty, and the staff...not so into their job. My 2nd time there, one of the preps was picking his nose and then touching the plates and then our food came out with, not one, but three different kind of hairs on it. That did me in. My family and I have loved this place and been agreeable to overlooking the owners lack of service being about the customer and inconsistencies with the quality of what is served for years. We usually take our own fresh fish, pay to have it cooked and order sides. We have been charged various amounts and in various ways. Very little consistency. Our last trip was double the usual cost (over $70 for 5 filets provided to be cooked, two family sized sides and one Coke). We asked to speak to the owner who had verified with the waitress he felt the ticket was correct. The waitress advised he would be out when he finished cooking. After waiting 15-20 mins, we watched him go to the bar, spend time speaking with several customers and then back in the kitchen. We signed the ticket, left and won't be back. Also, when we order how our fish is to be cooked the owner basically does what he feels like most days and not what was ordered without asking or explanation. Regular menu items have gone down in regard to taste, quality and consistency as well. We have been loyal customers and have recommended this place to many others. Unfortunate the owner doesn't care to be attentive to customer service and quality. Thanks to the waitstaff for mostly exceptional service over the years and taking one for the team MANY TIMES when the owner does not. read more

There were lots of cars at lunchtime,a good sign, so we got the last parking space and went in this boring, square, windowless building expecting a fish market. The atmosphere was not appealing but the crowd was not wrong. We had delicious shrimp, oysters and fish. The plate came with really great French fries but we were too full to eat them. The seafood was lightly battered with perfect seasoning. We usually get grilled fish and they had that on the menu but we abandoned our health conscious ways when we saw the fried fish being served. How do I give zero stars? Was a terrible experience from start to finish. We were not greeted and just wandered until someone told us we could sit anywhere. When I asked for a recommendation, the waitress said she didn't eat seafood but the vegetables were good. Sigh. I got the grilled mahi and my wife got the grilled shrimp. Both were way over done and lacked any discernible seasoning. Imagine bad seafood, reheated as leftovers. Yep. No one ever asked us how our meal was...apparently it was obvious. Hidden gem, seafood is mediocre to good but they have asian (vietnamese i think) dishes on the menu that are very good and unique. Only place in town that serves Pho soup, yum! Tried out the new location last night which is appointed well and looks great. But had a bad experience. Fried shrimp wete good, fried oysters were average, but the fried scallops had a bad taste. The grilled flounder was greasy and unedible. We sent it back, they tried again with same result. To their credit, they took it off the bill. Skip this place on Monday as the good cook is off.
