Okay, I got a veggie burrito, and it was fine. I asked for a glass of water and was refused, told I had to buy a drink. The Board of Health requires a restaurant to offer tap water upon request. An employee was sitting in the dining area the entire time I was there, and she was on a loud video call. Some people moved and were visibly annoyed. I found it annoying too. I'm not sure where people get off using the term "great" for this dump; if you are one of those freaks who are deathly afraid of flavor than this place may be just bland enough for you. The brisket taco tastes like they rinsed the flavor off and put it in a shell. I mean none of the basic tacos I've had are amazing... the chicken tastes like it's boiled and even the pico and cheese has little flavor. On a positive note, I stopped in on taco Tuesday where the chicken and beef tacos were just two bux (I hope they aren't much more in a normal day) All three tacos I got were plentiful but as previously stated, light on flavor. I called in to order ahead so I didn't have to wait once I got there. I wanted two burritos with the contents of the texas taco. The clerk on the phone pretended to be unable to hear me when I described this simple request 3 times, and then hung up. When I got to there, I saw the clerk who I spoke with over the phone; I knew it was him once he spoke, because of his voice. I proceeded to attempt to order two burritos with the contents of the texas taco. He tried to tell me it couldn't be done. I explained it was done for me 3-4 months ago by another clerk, so what changed? He then looked down at his iPad and started looking for it. I asked him if he could simply do a custom burrito and I will read him the contents. He got loud with me and told me I have to calm down. There was nothing not calm about my expression or words, I was polite throughout my entire sour experience, so I took offense to this. If there was anyone in that exchange not calm, it was the clerk. When I was paying, I asked if the place charges a fee for credit card transactions, to which the clerk responded "Yes we charge a fee at X%, everyone charges X%." But this was a lie, and the guy already annoyed me, so I calmly and politely corrected him, explaining that because I am a sales director I understand the fees vary depending on the merchant service provider and gateway processing provider. I've seen much lower fees elsewhere. On top of all this, I ended up waiting 20 minutes for my burrito instead of 0 minutes, paid $16 each, and they made it with overcooked, dry, and tasteless steak and shrimp instead of pulled pork. I was absolutely shocked with the way I was treated. I never provoked anyone, never made fun of the clerk for his lazy eye, his lack of intelligence, or his absence of decency. If I could give this review a zero, I would. I am beyond upset with this restaurant, but especially the owner. My family has been coming here for a while, but after this experience I will never go near that establishment again. The owner of the restaurant was racist and rude towards my father which is ironic because he works with other spanish people. He made my father feel like crap. He gave my dad an attitude right away and my dad wanted to use the restroom first. The owner said that my dad had to pay first. okay fair, but then my dad asked the other worker in spanish who the guy was (the owner) and the owner turned around and said "you are talking to me, why are you talking to him?". after my dad said he didn't want to give them business. The owner ran after my dad and filmed him as he drove away. I don't care who you are, but that is not how you treat a customer. That was uncalled for and you sir need to check yourself. I ordered tacos on two occasions when company was coming and I didn't feel like cooking. Both times the food was awesome and the people who work there are so pleasant! Our favorites are the brisket taco and shrimp tacos, but today we tried the steak taco with onions and it did not disappoint. The chicken tacos are good too when we want a change as well as the cheese quesadillas. Their chips and guacamole are awesome. Next up for us to try are the burritos! I ordered the skirt steak fajita. What I received was really a deconstructed burrito. There was not enough meat to make one single fajita, but plenty of rice and beans, earth to Texas Taco, a fajita is not comprised of primarily rice and beans like your burrito. The meat was so over cooked it was like tiny cubes of shoe leather. Maybe the worst meal I have ordered anywhere, at anytime. I called the place and wanted a refund but they would not do it. I always order the tacos, I've tried the chicken and the beef, both with everything that come with it on top. The chicken was a tad dry but the beef is BOMB. Great prices too and their staff is always very polite. Usually I get two beef tacos and I'm nice and full. They have good drinks offered too, they have all fountain sodas but also have the soda brand 'Hal's' there , the ginger ale is my fav. Quality of food has gone down dramatically since I first started going here. The past two times I have gone, the meat has been overly dry, almost leather consistency. At first I thought it was just the brisket (which is my go to order), but I've found out also the steak and chicken seems to be really dry as well. One of the worst Tex Mex places I been to in a long time. Dismal food at this strip mall joint in Sayville serving up tacos and burritos. Come on Tuesdays and it's Taco Tuesday. Well, it's nothing to get excited over. Chicken taco is dry and completely flavorless with no substance from the pico de gallo or cheese. Also, when you bite into it, there's a ton of clear liquid squirting all over making it wet and gross. The beef fared slightly better. Only problem is that it's so spicy that you can't taste anything else. Again, a ton of liquid which looks like dirty water pours out when you pick it up. My whole lunch was quite unpalatable and couldn't finish because I got grossed out from the liquids oozing all over. Service at the counter is cold and indifferent and luckily it's cheap. This place has gone way downhill! I ordered through DoorDash, 2 burritos and nachos. The burritos had no cheese the meat was bland and the rice was hard and either undercooked or old. The nachos were a quarter of the size they used to be and the chips were stale like always. I will definitely not spend my money on that garbage again. However, I always give places a second try, but now totally regret it. The food was still greasy, order was correct.... BUT the salsa had to be expired or it was something else that was contaminated.
