I went here to try it out for lunch. I ordered a shrimp burrito and chili. The women at the counter was too busy talking on the phone when I came in to take my order. She took four to five minutes to recognize me and take my order. When she was done she walked in the back and vanished. Another guy came out and started making my meal. The burrito- was small, not filling, barely seasoned, and very bland Chili- was a water consistency and I couldn't even take a second bite. My boyfriend and I just ordered from Texas Tacos because we saw that they had taco Tuesday, we love tacos, and we wanted delivery. My boyfriend called in our delivery order and he said the girl taking the order was rude, slow with taking his order, and not very knowledgeable about questions he had regarding the food. We ordered beef and chicken tacos. All the tacos had a lot of ingredients in them. So much that it was overflowing, messy, and difficult to eat. The ingredients seemed old, definitely not fresh. I don't really eat beef a lot but I love chicken. The chicken used was cold and tasted old. So I liked the beef better (but that isn't saying much). I didn't even want to finish eating and neither did my boyfriend. He said it reminded him of taco day in high school. I'd rather have had taco bell than this. It's so disappointing! Stay away! Food poisoning! This was the second try at Texas Taco. The first time, the food was very greasy and the order was not correct. However, I always give places a second try, but now totally regret it. The food was still greasy, order was correct.... BUT the salsa had to be expired or it was something else that was contaminated. I went to this place the other day, and when i came to check it out on yelp later, i saw that there was a lot of suprising negative reviews. So i got myself the texas tacos the other day(brisket, onion, chipotle aioli sauce etc) and chips with salsa. Proportions were big. As i was waiting for my order to be made, i was seeing the guy laying on this massive pile of toppings for someone's burrito- i could see it being more than enough for two-three meals to be honest. However when it comes to food, i would not go for the chips again as they felt stale to me. The tacos were nice, but not the best i've had. I had a steak burrito which for my taste was a little bland.I am no connoisseur but I expect the rice that tastes like rice to meat to taste like meat and it just kind of all mixed together into mush. They delivered our food and the delivery guy didn't have change which was odd & Seemed a bit like a scam to get a big tip because I didn't have change and most delivery people have change. In a word: adequate? I ordered a ground beef hard taco and a brisket hard taco, ended up receiving soft taco versions of both. The beef taco was undersalted and the house taco seasoning is way heavy on the cumin, to the exclusion of basically every other flavor. The brisket taco was a bit chewy, and mostly flavored with barbecue sauce (what Texas anything puts BBQ sauce on brisket?). Also not bad, but when brisket flat is $7.99 a pound and pork shoulder is $1.29 a pound, I'm not sure why a restaurant would choose to use expensive meat and then cover up the flavor in this way. I make better tacos at home using Kenji's seasoning recipe from Serious Eats. The food wasn't outright bad, and the restaurant was welcoming and immaculately clean. But I don't see myself returning, even with the total lack of fast Tex-Mex options in the Oakdale-Sayville area since The Green Cactus closed. read more

Not a good experience at all, got a taco salad with Grilled shrimp. The shrimp was literally raw not grilled at all, the lettuce was ice berg and all soggy. The taco shell was mushy from the soggy lettuce! Just not good at all, then I call and the girl that works there tells me there is nothing she can do call back during the week for the manager!! First time there last night. We ordered takeout- I had the Sayville Taco Trio. They were good but not great. My two other family members ordered burritos, enchilada style, and enjoyed them. My biggest complaint were the side of chips and guacamole. $2.95 for a handful of chips and $6.95 for a small container of guacamole that was only filled halfway-maybe a half cup worth. Uninspired fare here. Had a ground beef soft taco and a chicken soft taco. The pico was crispy and seemed fresh. But both proteins were completely lifeless. The chicken had no taste and the ground beef was very flat. Service was "meh". The dining area, which consisted of about 5-6 tables, wasn't filthy but just seemed unkept. I have a pet peeve about walking into a seat yourself type of eating place that isn't particularly busy and has dirty tables. I'll come by again for $2.00 taco Tuesday but I wouldn't pay full boat here. Very small drink selection from the self serve fridge, some Fanta and some Jarritos but that's about it. Do yourself a favor and drive a little further east into Bayport and check out Salsa Salsa or Avocadoes for much better food. Unless it's Tuesday and you're broke. read more

They are ok, not fantastic, they are just in a convenient location from where I live. It takes a full 5-10 min to order the food over the phone, extremely inefficient, and then it's never ready in the time they say. Oh and then after all that sometimes they get your order wrong... Burritos are very small, they don't even put sour cream on them, it's $.75 extra .. & they don't even give you a complimentary side of chips like most places do... The bean burrito was $ 5.75... We always go to Bubbas Burrito Bar in Islip & their bean burrito is the same price ( sour cream included ) & it weighs about 2 pounds lol lol... It's huge !!! It puts Texas Taco to shame... Texas taco is very cheap with their food.. They have a lot of competition like Bubbas Burrito Bar in Islip, Salsa Salsa in Bayport & Avocados also in Bayport ... All 3 are excellent!!! Texas Taco better start checking out what their competition is serving up, & step it up a little or I for see this place going out of business..We will stick to our usual place.. I ordered a big catering order for Father's Day 4 days prior. I was never told that my order was transferred from Sayville to the Hicksville location the order never arrived on Father's Day because the Hicksville location was closed. I was never informed of any of this just had no food show up. When I called numerous times I was told that there was nothing they could do because there was no manager in the store. The food sits out in hot trays as if in the style of Chiptole where you choose your ingredients, instead you have to order from a paper menu on the counter. Why isn't a menu posted on the wall in plain sight? My boyfriend and I both got chicken burritos and agreed they were way too salty. This place was just okay. I got a beef and a fish taco with a side of chips and guacamole. The fish taco tasted almost too fishy and there was cheese on it, not slaw like a traditional fish taco, so that was weird. The beef taco was so so, but nothing I couldn't have made at home. Place should be renamed sloppy instead of Texas taco. Service was sloppy with a mixture of bad attitudes and a dap of sadness. Chicken burrito was even more sloppy with the chicken looking like dark shards of unidentifiable meat and the fixings tasting like outdated ingredients. My advice would be to emulate the other local burrito places down the road like salsa salsa and avocado!!! read more
