A couple of weeks ago we ordered chicken tenders and fries for pickup. When we got it home the food was as hot then as it was when they took it out of the fryer. And it was extremely juicy. The food is always hot and fresh. I really enjoy that greet you as you walk in the door and don't just like take your money and order your food to treat you like family also they have a free video game in the lobby which normally would cost you $.25 to a dollar so that'll keep you occupied for a few minutes but my best thing that I've had, I have a lot of good things, but the best thing I had was the junior double bacon cheeseburger it's like three bucks plus in it fills you up and if you order fries order a regular fries can they always give you a ton of fries? The food was okay, but the ordering experience could've been better. The burger was dry, and there were no dipping sauces for the fries or tartar sauce for the catfish. I was a little nervous about the drive thru because I had noticed it wasn't moving very fast when I was at one of the shops in the same shopping center. I decided to go ahead and get in line and it wasn't too bad. I think it was just one order must have held them up a little, not that they were being extra slow. I ordered a beef gyro and an italian steak for their 2/$7.99 sandwich special and a 4 piece catfish with biscuit to take home to my mom. The beef gyro was really good although their lettuce is the finely shredded type that instantly turns to sludge when something warm touches it, so next time I would do NO LETTUCE. There was a lot of meat on the sandwich and it was really tasty. The Italian Steak I didn't eat until later so the lettuce was pretty icky by then. I did not think the sandwich was that flavorful and it probably wouldn't be something I'd get again. Mom loved the catfish. You get 4 big filets. The breading is nice and light, just barely a coating which is nice and it's seasoned well too. Mom said she liked their catfish better than the place that we usually get catfish from that specializes in fish! In this area, masks are still requested and I noticed several employees were wearing masks around their chins but not over their faces, which doesn't really make a lot of sense. The food we ordered was edible, but had no flavor. The people working there were nice, though. Ordered: Supreme taco Cheese burger Onion rings Vanilla shake Strawberry shake The ground beef on both the taco and burger had no flavor at all, no seasoning, no beefy flavor. The vegetables added (pickles and onions) had barely flavor - I'm not sure how that happened. The vanilla shake was fine, but the strawberry shake tasted like the vanilla, only pink. It was weird, not even a hint of strawberry taste. The onion rings batter was tasty, but the onions so mild it seemed like a vehicle for the batter. I don't like too strong onions, but these didn't taste. Maybe their battered food is better, but we won't use our money there again. read more

The Philly cheesesteak have way less meat & cheese on them & the meat is flavorless & more rougher...same as the taco supremes they only fill up 1/2 way now with barley any sour cream in them ALL THEY ADD IS HELLA CHEESE & UNFLAVORED MEAT! Heading through Kansas City and we needed a quick place to eat. We ordered their 8 pieces Fried Chickens $10, Fried Pork Tenderloin sandwich $7, and the Fried Seafood combo $12. Everything was cook Fresh to order came out piping Hot. Fried Catfish and Shrimp was moist, well seasoned and very delicious with an abundant side order of French fries. Pork tenderloin was big and hanging out the of bun. Fried Chickens was ok. Will definitely be back for some of more Fried catfish when we head back through again. read more

Not sure exactly why I'm not giving a 5 other than maybe the food quality isn't the best fast food but it is very good for $$. I had a $7.99 deal which allowed me to choose a tenderloin sandwich and a double cheeseburger. If I had known how big they'd be, I wouldn't have done it. Double cheeseburger was very good, thin patties with cheese and chopped lettuce which is how you know it's going to be good. Tenderloin was also good but they cut it in half and stacked it. Got the buckaroo to try a variety of items from the menu and was presently surprised with the quality of the food. All three items included in the basket had good flavor and seemed very fresh. The fries were slightly lack luster but there was nothing offensive about them. The chocolate shake was also very good and worth the money. I usually go to the Texas Tom's on Independence Ave, so this was my very first time here. I was very excited to see one open up so close to my house. This location actually has plenty of parking space and an indoor dining area, a plus compared to the Independence location. I was too lazy to actually park and go in so I decided to order through the drive-thru. For those of you who are not familiar with Texas Tom's, about 95% of their menu is fried foods and this location is no exception. Their drive-thru menu seemed a bit condensed compared to the other location (maybe the inside menu is different, who knows), but the wait is much shorter and the food comes out piping hot. That being said, there is still a bit of a wait so I wouldn't order here if you're in a rush and is expecting McD's speed level service. Now onto the food! I was badly craving for a gyro and my friend had told me that theirs was pretty good, so I decided to order the gyro sandwich combo with fries and a drink. Like I said, the food was piping hot when I checked the gyro to make sure that they made it correctly. I sampled a fry and was happy when I found out that it was hot, slightly seasoned, and had a slight crisp to it. No soggy fries to be found in my order. The gyro was mediocre and would lose compare to the ones at Aladdin Cafe, but I could see myself ordering it again if I was too lazy to drive all the way to Aladdin. I was so excited about getting my food that I accidentally drove off without my drink, so make sure you don't forget yours! I know that gyros are not the first choice for those who frequent here, but it is a nice change of pace from all of the fried food on the menu. Overall, my meal cost about $8.80, tax included. I'm excited to return and try the rest of the food here and see how it compares to the Independence Ave location. read more

DO NOT EAT HERE....This is not a Texas Tom's in any way shape or form. It is a multi failed restaurant that slapped the name on there and is trying to make a buck off of it. My tenderloin tasted like a deep-fried yoga mat. And my double cheeseburger was so dry I ended up throwing it away after one bite... same with my buddy. He slaughtered a ton of mayonnaise on top open to make it better...nope. Tater tots were burned, and the chili and cheese they use comes from a little machine like you would see at a gas station. I had high expectations for Texas Tom's! I used to go to the one in Blue Springs whe I was a kid. Apparently, that one got bulldozed years ago. I never knew there were others. I saw the sign as we were leaving World's of Fun, and had to see if they still have the best fried burrito. First, let me say how disappointed I was that it didn't have that ol' timey feel of the original! I used to love the hardwood floors, reading all the old cowboy names, and the fact it looked like a covered wagon! This Texas Tom's looks like any other fast good joint. the worst "fast food" place I've been to. I waited 5-10 minutes in the drive through previous to me ordering and when I ordered the lady at the drive thru window was no where near polite. I had nicely asked for ranch and she gave me one although she knew I had two orders and had asked for extra. She then proceeded to charge me extra for every extra I got. She was rude towards me the whole time and even rolled her eyes at me when I was waiting for my food. I don't recommend the food is shit anyways.
