A TRUE HIDDEN GEM, FAMILY AFFAIR, WINE DOWN, CHILL SPOT!!!! I Love everything about this place. From the greeters, to the owners, to the management staff, bartenders, and waitstaff. Everyone is absolutely amazing!!! My favorite Waitress Ashley is always smiling no matter the task before her. She is always wiling to go over and beyond concerning her customers. I know you are thinking she must know someone or she is trying to give them a perfect review. Let me provide why I enjoy being at this establishment and bringing business all of the time. On several occasions I have had issues, other guest have had issues and the food was not always superb. There was not a time that ROD OR RJ did not make things right by addressing everyone. This venue, staff and owners treat everyone like family. This is one of the main reasons I keep coming back because no one is perfect. The ambiance is amazing. The are always working to improve and upgrade the amenities. The value the feedback of the customers and FREQUENT PATRONS. The owners ROD AND RJ literally walk around and great everyone making sure they are satisfied Karaoke is Amazing and the DJ always does his thing with the VERSATILITY OF THE MUSIC. They welcome all patrons I have seen many cultures enjoying themselves Come out and try it for yourself and I promise you will not be disapponted.

I had an easy time making a reservation, and even though we arrived early, the hostess was happy to accommodate us and sat us without the entire party. We were greeted by several members of their staff while waiting for the rest of the party to arrive. Our waitress was freaking awesome. Definitely a slower brunch--we sat down at 11 and left around 12:30. It's not a huge place and maybe did its best to be trendy. The art on the ceiling was a unique touch. Our table ordered almost everything on the brunch menu and, generally, everyone enjoyed their meal. Theres no "rave" review I can offer: everything was...good. Not great. Not to die for. Just good. Largely very forgettable. We also had a 20% off coupon from Yelp that the manager was not eager to apply to our bill--not sure why that caused any problems.

New to the area and wanted something non-chain. Popped in and found the place to quint, as it's not terribly large. I ordered the catfish and grits. It was really yummy. Also had the strawberry French toast...that was a bust! The French toast had too much cinnamon or what tasted like cardomon and just made it odd, so we sent it back! We asked for just plain wheat toast (they didn't have). So, we'll definitely try it again...but mid-grade on this visit as they're batting 1 for 2.

Overall I was impressed. I took my parents here on a Saturday evening for dinner. The two owners were really attentive and made sure that our evening was going well. We also had a great server, I didn't catch her name unfortunately. We ordered the crab cakes, stuffed avocado, lamb chops, and the salmon filet. All of the dishes were good, which influenced us to order dessert. I would highly recommend the butter cake. It was excellent and just enough. A couple of negatives: it's kind of in an obscure spot and I was confused about where the front entrance was. Also, the food took a little too long to come out, but I think they're just opening and working things out. We will definitely be back! Yay for black-owned businesses!

Park Place at the Boardwalk is a great place to get a bite to eat, or hang out with friends anytime of day. The inside of the restaurant provides a cozy atmosphere that will make you feel right at home. The brunch menu is fantastic with tasty options like shrimp and grits, steak and eggs and so much more. They even offer karaoke and live music on Thursday with $3 drink and food specials! RC the owner was also amazing. Not only does he own and run a wonderful restaurant with fantastic food. But we also found out that he's also a pillar in the community. Alexis our server was also great! Offering her favorite menu items and providing friendly and efficient service

So my girlfriend and I decided to go to Park Place at the boardwalk for dinner to try their $3 lamb chop special that was advertised on Houston Black Restaurant week website. We went there with no reservation and thought since the website didn't state that we needed one well we were sadly mistaken. The host said a reservation was needed and that they were "full" for the night. However, when we went on open table it showed different, so we booked a reservation on open table. Fyi book your reservation beforehand and not when you get there, like we did lol because we still had to wait but decided to go upstairs instead of waiting. Ambiance: it was cool! A light soul r&b played in the background which created an intimate atmosphere for a simple date night or a girls/boys night out on town. I really wish I could've experienced the downstairs/outdoor seating area but we didn't have our reservation in before we arrived, so no fault to them. If you want to go for cocktail and you want to seat at the bar, I suggest you go early because seating is very limited and tight. There is 3 sections to Park Place at boardwalk (downstairs seating, upstairs where they do karaoke every Thursday and Friday, and upstairs outside seating). Food: well our soul purpose was to try their $3 lamp chops and let's just say I now know why it's $3. I don't have a picture because it was returned. I ended up getting grilled salmon blacked (owner's recommendation) and medium rare my preferred meat/fish temperature with grilled veggies, and garlic mashed potato. I really enjoyed the mashed potatoes and veggies! The veggies were crunchy, evenly seasoned, and cooked to perfection (if you ask me). For the mashed potatoes, it was well whipped and very creamy (in a good way) I really enjoyed it to the point I wished I would've gotten only those two as a meal. For the salmon, well again, I like it medium rare and not a lot of cooks know how to cook a salmon to its temperature. Nevertheless the less, I really enjoyed the food. over cooked, mushy, or over seasoned! Since we sat upstairs (karaoke area) there's no food served up there hence why our food are in to go plates. Service: the service was excellent! The host, with knowing we didn't have a reservation she did attempt to get us seated quickly. Britheny (not sure if I spelt it correctly) was very accommodating and knows how to make a good cocktail! The owner Rod, also was accommodating, showed great leadership, understood customer service. All in all, if you are looking for a spot in Katy that provides an ambiance that's not to loud, has different sitting areas, good cocktail, karaoke, $3 lamb chops on Thursday and $5 on Friday! I would definitely recommend going to Park Place at Boardwalk it worth the experience and try.

My party of 2 made reservations on Open Table for 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Happy Hour, per website. Upon arrival, our GPS said arrived at the address in the strip center. However, you must drive around back to the actual restaurant with 2 small rows of parking spaces. We dressed in business casual. Upon entry, we were greeted by the owner and asked if we had reservations. As you enter the small restaurant, the tables are right there in front of you, fully stocked bar with stools to the right, patio and tables visible through windows to left. Reserved tables were clearly marked and we were told to pick one. Albeit small, the owners invested in the ambiance with multiple tv screens in dining room, multi-colored lights, scenic ceiling light boxes, tea light glasses on tables, covered patios, and one toilet and a Dyson hand dryer in the ladies restroom. Ashley, our server, handed us drink and food menus. Happy Hour items were not listed on menus, so Ashley recited them. There was a wait for food. Customers wore shorts, sweats, and jeans. Bartenders were casually dressed and the owner wore a hoodie and jeans. I presumed because of Open Table reservation and elegant and classy steakhouse it would be business casual. Food arrived- burger, spicy jerk lamb chops, parmesan wings, and garlic mashed potatoes, warm butter cake and a coke. Hands down our favs-garlic mashed potatoes and butter cake 5/5. Burger was smashed and pitiful, other items were ok. Suggestions: change burger buns and patties, include the Happy Hour items on menu, and remove the table next to the door and replace with a hostess stand to greet guests. Please make sure to ask for Page, an amazing waitress who stopped by to ask if we'd been served. I listened to her at 2 different tables then asked her over to ours. She literally is a walking billboard for Park Place--Thursday specials, delicious desserts like your Grandma made, join our restaurant Facebook Group, and your new restaurant opening. She is an asset to your team and customers alike.

    Catfish and grits
    Alayna T.

I wanted to fully love this place, but didn't quite get there. I enjoyed the low key atmosphere on a Sunday, where most places offering brunch are jammed packed in Houston. I had the catfish and grits which was good, but not the best catfish I have ever had. I also had the pancakes, which were good, but not the best pancakes I have ever had. These two dishes were not disappointing, but also didn't stand out. Highlights of my trip to Katy was the service and the complimentary brunch mimosa!

Decided to hang out for resturant week and check out brunch here. The parking is decent. The atmosphere is small and cozy. The customer service was okay. I got the shrimp and grits which were pretty good but the shrimp were really small compared to other places. My boyfriend stayed his food was pretty good as well. The fish was crunchy and seasoned. The bacon was thick and awesome! We may try to go back for dinner and try out steaks since that is their specialty!

    Shrimp and Grits

We reserved a table for seven, and they seated us right away, even though we were still waiting for two people to show up. It wasn't very busy for Sunday afternoon. The place is smaller on the inside than expected, but you don't feel like you're too close to the other guest. They also have a nice patio area. The music was on point for brunch, and it wasn't too loud. I ordered the shrimp and grits with the bottomless mimosas for $30. I felt the meal could use more seasoning/flavor. The mango mimosas were delicious. I just didn't like always having to ask for a refill. They don't give you the carafe for the bottomless mimosas, and you have to stick to the flavor that you ordered. There were a few times I could see the bartender prepared my drink, but i couldn't locate my waitress. So, i had to wait for it to be brought to the table. There is an 18% gratuity for a large party. When the waitress brought the machine to pay, she said the gratuity hadn't been added to the bill. Since the numbers were not adding up, we asked for the itemized receipt. Thank goodness we did because the gratuity was on the bill. I think our waitress was new and just didn't realize it. All in all, it was an enjoyable experience. Plan on going back for their Thursday night happy hour.

Amazing !!!!!!! Food Amazing!!! Happy hour was Brilliant! My husband definitely loved the prime rib. The Gouda mac & cheese was the best in the whole wide world! And the happy hour shrimp and sesame chicken was so delicious and half price at happy hour lol Ashley is an amazing bartender and she made me espresso martinis and happy hour. Margaritas are wonderful! The patio is awesome. We will definitely be back.

    Terry P.

The food was absolutely delicious and enjoyed the ambiance. The owner walked around to ensure we were having a great time. Also, it has different events throughout the week. Finally, the punch was delicious. Thank you Alexis and RC for being amazing. We will see you all next month at one of the events.

Let me start by saying I've been here multiple, multiple times & I've never had any food items that weren't good. I always get breakfast (even if it's lunch time) so I don't know much about the lunch items. Not only is the food outstanding with a creative twist, it's consistent. Over the years, the place has expanded several times so now there is a decent amount of dine-in seating in addition to the outdoor seating. The place still stays packed but with their wait list in advance/text notification system & efficiency in seating customers, if there is a wait things move along smoothly. Additionally, anyone who is waiting knows it's worth the wait!! The service staff are friendly. The atmosphere is homey & they decorate for the various holidays & seasons. Owner/chef Lori is always walking around asking guests if everything is ok. On at least 2 occasions she happened to chat with me/my guest about some dietary restrictions & she whipped something up for us to try. My go-to dish is the harvest breakfast where you can pick 4 breakfast items from a list. This is a great way to sample more menu items. Here's my take on some of my favorites: - Sourdough pancakes are thin & really delicious. - Belgium Leige waffle is very sweet with the pearl sugar "nuggets" in them so taste them before you add a lot of syrup. - Scrambled eggs are well seasoned, not bland. - Avocado & tomato or the fresh fruit are nice light touches as one of the side item choices. - Fried chicken tenders are really good. Spice level 3 (medium) is not that spicy. It's flavorful. - Grilled chicken tenders are good. As much as I typically eat grilled or baked chicken, I allow myself to choose fried for these. - Grits are creamy. I get them with no cheese. I'm not a big grits person but I do like these! The menu is very extensive. It includes vegan, vegetarian, keto & gluten free. Is the breakfast a little pricey, the answer is "it's all relative." Sometimes it's just worth paying for a great meal. In case you haven't gotten the message, Harvest Kitchen is a must try. Do yourself a favor & have a visit. I'm betting it will stay on your list as a repeat eating spot!! Tips: - Use the text message wait list & signup before you leave your house. - You can always get 1 pancake on the side for $5. - 15% gratuity is included at checkout, as you pay you'll get options for an additional % or custom % like 0%, 3, 5% or more.

They serve brunch on Saturday and Sunday until 330. The brunch menu is huge. It is not a super large menu, which I feel very endearing. We decided to try the bagel and lox with cream cheese, the Buzz burger with fries, and their homemade chips. They start off by bringing you this beautiful craft of bottled water. That to me was an amazing bonus. We also ordered two sodas which came in a can. I sort of wish it was a more of a fountain drink than one can of soda for the price. *Now service was super slow. However, the waitress did come and tell us that they are running a little behind and she apologized for it and she was super sweet, so that made up for the weight. How do I known how long it was going to take, I don't know if I would've stayed, but in the end, the food was amazing. The burger was cooked to perfection. My boyfriend is a hamburger snob and he kept saying how good it was how fresh it was and how perfectly cooked it was. They serve you shoestring fries that feel like they're double fried and they were phenomenal. My bagel was toasted perfectly and had a very good amount of cream cheese and lox. As a Jewish girl living in the area that I do, it's very hard to find good bagels with lox and cream cheese. I will most definitely be back for this sooner than later. The homemade chips took quite a while to come out, and at one point I was ready to say we don't need it, but these potato chips beat Buccees beaver chips, 100%. They were super fresh and very crunchy and tasted amazing. I will definitely recommend those to anybody that orders some. My boyfriend then ordered a tropical sunrise smoothie and it was so tasty and tasted like a strawberry banana smoothie. Now once again that did take a long time to come out and at one point, we were wishing we had not ordered it but once we did get it, it was really good and I highly recommend it. The restaurant is not very large and it's the perfect brunch spot for anybody looking for a smaller Cafe with very good choices.

The evening started with…read morewarm cinnamon bread and grilled oysters, both so good they disappeared before anyone could even think about taking a photo. The restaurant is very dimly lit, but intentionally so -- just enough light to see your table and your plate. It creates an intimate, connected atmosphere where you naturally put your phone down. Soft live piano music in the background adds to the charm and makes conversation flow easily. I ordered the calamari, while my friend chose the oxtail tacos. Both came in generous portions, seasoned well, and arrived without a long wait. A strong start to the meal. For my entrée, I selected the whole red snapper, served with salad and plantains. I added a side of jollof rice, which paired perfectly with the fish. Another colleague ordered the pork chop with green beans and mashed potatoes -- absolutely delectable. I didn't finish every bite of my snapper only because I wanted to save room for dessert. Our table tried a variety: pineapple upside‑down cake, cheesecake, and key lime pie. Each one was a great finish to the meal and made the evening of catching up even sweeter. The chef personally greeted each table, which added a thoughtful, welcoming touch. The staff was attentive throughout the night, making the experience feel special from start to finish. A memorable meal, a cozy ambiance, and a perfect place to reconnect with people who've become lifelong friends. Loved it.

We made reservations and were quickly seated when we arrived. The place is a bit dark when the sun goes down. Plenty of wine bottles lined up on the wall and a full bar. We went for their HRW menu. In addition to the regular menu, they gave a chef appetizer of Rockefeller Oyster. Nice touch. One comment though, when it was served, they put mine on top of the bread plate which I thought was odd. Oyster itself was very flavorful. For starters, we had the Jumbo Peri Peri shrimp and Jollof's Fire Bomb. The shrimps were just regular shrimps and was chewy. The Fire Bomb was tasty with brisket meat inside. We order the ribeye and fried red snapper for our mains. Suya Ribeye was very flavorful from the African spices. The jollof rice was delicious. My first time trying it. Kinda crispy and has a kick. Fried Fred snapper was well executed. My wife loved it. It was unfortunate that the restaurant was so dark that you can't really see your food to appreciate the effort that was put into it. It was a nice gesture that Chef Casey came out to talk to his customers. For desserts, we had the crème brûlée and banana fosters. Banana fosters was a big scoop of ice cream with couple slices of banana which was a bit disappointing. In comparison to other HrW restaurants, you can get more bang for the buck at other places. We would go back for the mains but skip the appetizers and desserts.

The casual, open space was inviting and the place was spotlessly clean. However, the customer service was just average. I wanted an egg and cheese biscuit with gravy and asked if I could replace the bacon in the Bacon, Egg, Cheese Biscuit with the shiitake mushroom gravy. However, the gal at the counter said no so I ended up ordering the spinach, egg, and goat cheese biscuit and had to order a side of shiitake mushroom gravy. She wouldn't even let me switch out the goat cheese for cheddar cheese. Needless to say, service was not the most accommodating or helpful. My lunch date ordered the chicken and waffle and gave it a 4/5 rating. The chicken was crispy but the waffle was more on the dense side. The biscuit was also dense, more so than fluffy. It was baked golden brown and had a slightly crispy exterior which was the best part. The inside didn't pull apart into delicate layers. Instead, it crumbled when I forked through it to get a piece. I'd give it a 4/5 rating. I thought the shitake mushroom gravy was very good and give 5/5. I'm just happy they make a vegetarian-friendly gravy. I also like that have fresh squeeze orange juice on the menu.

When we arrived, the restaurant was empty, and I will say our server was very nice and welcoming. One thing we immediately noticed, though, was that the menu prices were crossed out and changed. The waitress explained that prices have been fluctuating, but it did feel a little unpolished and confusing seeing gouged-out pricing on multiple items. I ordered the breakfast quesadilla, and my wife got the South of the Border omelet. We also had the roasted potatoes, which ended up being a very small portion. My main issue was that several items listed (or expected) didn't come as described. The quesadilla was supposed to come with sour cream and pico, but they weren't served on the side. We were told the pico was inside the quesadilla, which wasn't noted on the menu. Additionally, both dishes had raw, unsautéed onions mixed into the scrambled eggs. That wasn't listed in the description, and I personally don't like raw onions, so it definitely affected the meal for me. I think ingredients like that should be clearly stated. The cheese sauce tasted like standard heated nacho cheese and was very runny, not what we expected from a breakfast dish. The sour cream also tasted off. Overall, while the service was friendly, the food and menu presentation didn't meet expectations. Unfortunately, we probably won't be returning.
