    Chicken fried chicken diner.
    Tammy M.

We have been going here for years and it never disappoints. They are known for their chicken fried steak and that's usually what I order. We went for lunch so I got the lunch size portion which comes with one steak and it is still huge. Dinner portion comes with two steaks so be warned, you will be getting a lot of food. My lunch came with mashed potatoes and gravy and corn along with a delicious biscuit. The chicken fried steak has a light crispy breading and is never greasy. The gravy has a delicious peppery flavor. Plan on leftovers and if you're nice, they give you a little extra gravy. My husband got the chicken fried chicken dinner which comes with 2 large chicken breasts and 2 sides. He got the mashed potatoes and a salad. They have good salads but be warned, they put chopped green olives on top unless you request to have them left off. We both had half our meal left over to take home. I had been dying to try one of their deserts so I got the peach cobbler and it was really good. More of a cake type top than I'm used to but delicious. They have really good fried catfish and even a decent burger. On the weekend you can even get a brunch chicken fried steak(called Eggs Bubba) that comes with a fried egg on top. So yummy! If you get a chance to go to Texaz Grill please do. You won't regret it! Bring your appetite! The service is always top notch!

Stopped in to have some catfish recently and just loved how large the portions are. Service was relatively quick considering they made my order fresh. Iced tea was delicious. I love not having to wait for a refill.

Big Portions. Bold Flavor. True TEXAZ Style. I finally made my first visit to TEXAZ Grill in Phoenix -- just in time for their 40th anniversary celebration! For this milestone, they've teamed up with local favorite Chef Rich Hinojosa (formerly of CRUjiente Tacos) to craft a special menu highlighting the best of both worlds - Texas classics with a local twist. From the crispy Puffy Tacos to their legendary Chicken Fried Steak, every bite delivers that hearty, no-frills Texas comfort the Valley has loved for four decades. Where friendly faces meet a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. To celebrate the anniversary of this local dining institution, the community is invited to experience new menu creations or savor TEXAZ Grill favorites that have stood the test of time -- all while enjoying great food, cold drink specials, and plenty of TEXAZ-style fun. Whether it's your first visit or one of many memorable meals, make sure to stop in and support local -- because places like TEXAZ Grill are what keep Phoenix's food scene bold, flavorful, and full of heart. 6003 N 16th St Phoenix

I live up the street from this place, and it was already a great experience being able to walk to it. Upon arrival, the inside is so much fun. Quite the exciting atmosphere, very Texan-country vibes. We arrived for dinner, and were seated almost right away. The waitress was very attentive, personable, and nice. She offered the specials, gave us some ideas about the menu, and notified us of their most famous dishes. After looking over the menu, I decided to go with the CFC (Chicken Friend Chicken), with mashed potatoes and French fries, with my gravy on the side. Before the entrees came out, the waitress dropped off some of their buttermilk biscuits, which I gotta say, were probably the best I've ever had. I've never been a huge fan of them previously, because most of the one I've experienced were dense, dry, and quite crumbly. TexAZ's biscuits were perfectly light, buttery, and soft. SO Good! Our entrees came out and they most certainly did not disappoint. The CFC comes with TWO, full-sized chicken breasts, fried to perfection. It's not a super thick batter, which makes for a really nice crisp crunch. The chicken was quite juicy and flavorful, and adding a little of their gravy on it only enhanced the dish even further. The mashed potatoes were also fantastic, and the French fries were very fresh, and lightly salted. Overall, the experience was great, the service was great, the food was great. Highly recommend if you are wanting something that feels like home-cooked, comfort food.

Really nice. First time here and not at all disappointed. The inside is really fun. And has all these decor around. The food however also pretty good. I had the steak and eggs. The steak personally could've used more salt and so could the potatoes. I had the Sunday driver as well. Tastes like oj and vodka. My mom had the burger and it's a big burger. The burger beef is very soft and easy to eat and flavorful. My steak was easy to cut as well. The waitress was very friendly and I'd come back. Maybe next time I'll try the country friend steak they advertise

Sunday brunch- fried eggs over chicken fried steak over biscuits and gravy, with a side of home fries.
    Norm R.

Good thing I came here hungry. The Sunday brunch of fried eggs over chicken fried steak over biscuits and gravy, with a side, was very tasty, very filling, and very well priced. The friendly servers were very efficient and the atmosphere was very relaxed and informal.

Party of 8. They accommodated us when they were full of reservations. And account of a somber occasion being celebrated for my friend that was leaving out of the country the next day. Majority got their famous chicken fried steak. Hot home made biscuits, mashed potatos and buttery corn were some of my favorite. Best of the best servers when it comes to hospitality here. And you really can't mess with an institution like TEXAZ.

I've lived in the valley for over a decade and have never been to Texas Grill and I sad about it. The food have a really good dinner vibes. It's a little dark and the walls are busy but it's also kinda cool as you can find something new every time you come in. The food was good and plentiful seasoned well hot and I got exactly what I wanted!

Portions are gigantic so come hungry! But everything was hot and delicious! Good home style cooking! Prices are really reasonable for how much food you get and beers are cheap as well! Service was friendly and prompt and the overall vibes are good

Prime rib with some great smokey flavor
    Krissy H.

Very cowboyesk.... Their prime rib was absolutely phenomenal - seriously smoky and delicious. I was *blown away* by that. The chicken fried chicken sandwich, though? Eh, it was okay, nothing to write home about. I needed to doctor it up a bit - added some coleslaw (with a healthy dose of Tabasco ), because it needed a little something extra, The bun came dry. There was again tomato pickle, lettuce and onion on the side. The chicken was a bit greasy, and the mashed potatoes, while super delish and the gravy was amazing with some lumps and peels. The only downside was the wait time. It took about an hour to get our food, and the place wasn't even that busy. Sounds like they might have been training some new staff. Overall, though, the prime rib and mashed potatoes made it worth the visit! Highly recommend trying that.

We LOVED our visit to Diner 50 and this is now my go-to breakfast spot downtown. Everything was perfection. We loved the art inside and outside, music, and vibe. Our server was warm, enthusiastic, and had immaculate timing. We appreciated how playful and passionate she was. I swear she knew the name of every guest who walked through the door, and asked them thoughtful questions about their loved ones or travels. This is obviously a place that people return to and become regulars at. An excellent sign. What we were not expecting (and SO DELIGHTED WITH) was the cat rescue space through the adjoining wall. We are all cat-obsessed, so walking in and seeing a room full of absolute sweeties playing around added 100,000 points to the experience. The coffee? Epic. Served in a nearly soup bowl sized cup (hot) or gigantic mason jar (iced). Diner coffee can sometimes leave much to be desired but this coffee was soooo delicious and strong. The food? So awesome. I went with a classic breakfast plate - eggs, sausage, potatoes, blueberry pancakes. I added a biscuit because the menu said they were homemade and I had to try it. It was exceptional, I would go back just for the sausage and biscuit and coffee. My coworker got the huevos rancheros with red and green sauce and I was massively jealous. Everyone left over-caffeinated with bellies full of delicious food and hearts warm from being so well taken care of by our lovely server and getting to play with kitties. The prices are fair, the food and coffee are delicious and homemade, and the service is exceptional. I am someone who really values being involved with my community, so I feel great about spending my money somewhere that is clearly beloved by my neighbors and pours back into them. It was gone in five minutes and I would have licked the glass if my husband wasn't watching. I also had a cherry phosphate, and if you have never had a phosphate, I am genuinely sorry for your loss. I have been a fan since my first one at Aglamesis Bros in Cincinnati, and this one brought back every bit of that sour, tangy, cherry nostalgia. Order both. Alternate sips. You're welcome. The Reuben was a heavy hitter. Corned beef so tender it practically dissolved, sauerkraut quiet enough to stay in its lane while still adding a nice salty backbone, and I had the good sense to ask for extra thousand island for dipping. That was a power move and I stand by it. My husband had the meatloaf sandwich special, which was so good I spent the rest of the meal in quiet mourning over my own ordering choices. Absolutely outstanding, no notes. The potato salad he got as his side was excellent too, which only added to my suffering. Now. The sides. The fries are mandatory. Hot, fresh, crispy outside, perfectly smooth and creamy inside, and tossed in some seasoning I cannot identify but will be thinking about for the next several weeks. Critical note: put the ketchup down. It clashes with the seasoning in a way that will disappoint you. Get a side of mayo instead and dip accordingly. Genuinely life changing. The Hawaiian coleslaw, on the other hand, is a trap I walked into so you do not have to. Sweet coleslaw is already a divisive concept, and this one doubles down with chunks of pineapple thrown in for reasons I can only describe as chaotic. If tropical fruit in your coleslaw is your thing, go for it. If you have any savory coleslaw loyalty whatsoever, order literally anything else. The ambiance is pure nostalgia, antiques everywhere you look, sandwiched on both sides by an antique shop, which is fitting because this whole place feels like a time capsule in the best possible way. And for my fellow vinyl collectors, this is a hidden gem. I turned around approximately six times and found a new box of records every single time. I did not come here expecting to go digging, but I am absolutely coming back to do exactly that. Apparently I cannot go anywhere without finding another way to spend money on albums. No regrets, this place has great taste in more ways than one.
