The texicano bowl is so yummy!! I got carne asada added. Seems to be the perfect portion.

Tacos locos with carnitas and Pablano crema

Been here several times now. I'm from Texas originally and this place hits the spot. I got the tacos locos with carnitas and pablano crema and it is fabulous!

Inside Hawthorne Asylum is Texicano. Great food. Went with tacos. Can't go wrong. Service was great. The employee was super patient and gave great recommendation. Very clean. Would highly recommend.

Fantastic!! I had 1/2 Carnitas and 1/2 ASADA. The steak was a bit spicy (I am super wimpy), but the carnitas was perfect!! I can't wait to go back and try the tacos.

Tacos Locos from Texacano are to die for. They include a habanero sauce that is totally unique and delicious. Great staff too.

I came here the other day when we were at Hawthorne Asylum for lunch and the place was absolutely amazing. I ordered the chicken tacos with rice and beans. These are absolutely incredible. Just a heads up the food is a huge huge portion so you can definitely split it with someone else. Especially if you want to try any other dishes here. Staff and service are incredible. Will be back soon! IG: @QueenOfAdventureNYC

    Carne Asada (Steak) Sandwich

The hospitality and food is great all around. They are quick and efficient. The food is delicious here. Highly recommend trying any of their dishes involving their carne asada.

Amazing food and service! Prices are reasonable and the owner goes beyond and is so kind. Delicious!!!

I understand why the line for this food cart in Asylum is one of the longest. The texicano bowl is packed with flavor and a good mix of ingredients. They've got plenty of options to choose from. You're not gonna leave there hungry!

    El Filette (Steak Sandwich)

I'll start by saying this probably sits at a 3.5 star review but Yelp does not give that option so going to have to pick here. We got the El Filette Sandwich with a side of fries for $16. Sandwich fell apart a little easily so maybe best to bring a burger holder with you. Taste was good but not necessarily next level either. One thing I will say though is that the Carne Asada comes in strips so it can be a bit challenging to avoid getting big chunks in some bites, no meat in others. Fries were good and we ate them all. Next time I'll try the tacos and update if this is a 4 or 3 but for now I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and lean 4.

    Filette( skirt steak) with fries

Skirt steak. Need I say more? As far as I know, this is the first truly Tex-Mex place in Portland. There are plenty of hole in the wall Mexican spots all around this town and I'm a big fan of several of them, but the newest cart down at the Hawthorne Asylum on 11th and Madison is food you should eat. Back to the beginning. the Filette sandwich is skirt steak marinated with veggies and sauce on a bun, I got it with the seasoned fries that they offer. They do not skimp on the meat or the fries. They have chicken options, wings, bowls and tacos as well. I know I want to try more, and at the Asylum there is a never ending way to satisfy your appetite. If that skirt steak was the gateway to get me to eat at Texicano, I can only imagine how good the rest of the menu is. Support local, I'll be eating there again....soon. Enjoy.

Mad Rooster Sammie was 100%. Will be back next time we're at the Asylum. Perfect pairing of ingredients! The fries were even bomb.

Chicken Fajitas were good but, it's a different taste from other places I've had it (my love enjoyed it he said it had a very authentic flavor). Rice (fluffy) and Beans (well seasoned) both were really delicious. Service~Pearlina was super sweet, knew the menu very well and, had exceptional service. She made sure we had everything we needed and, continue to check on us throughout our meal. Ambiance~It's has a very calming vibe and atmosphere. I love the fact they have a privacy strip on the windows (so no one walking by watches you eat). It's a family owned restaurant and, I would recommend giving them a try. I feel what we ordered was worth it but, everything (except water) has a charge. Only street parking and, lots of indoor/outdoor seating.

We were seated on the patio, the weather was perfect and the view of the water was *chef's kiss* (especially after a LONG day of driving from CA). We were greeted promptly by our server, Jorge, he brought us waters and some water for my sister's dog as well. We decided to share the skirt steak fajitas and wow were they delicious! Every accompaniment was equally as good from the beans, to the guacamole to the rice. My only negative was that our water was never refilled, but that's minor so it's all good! Our server was super friendly and accommodating since we weren't in a hurry to order food. He just checked on once in a while to make sure we were still good. The food itself is quite mediocre. The chips were good. The salsa was good. Could've used a little more heat to it but overall I liked it. The fajitas were nothing special. Weren't served with the usually lettuce, tomato, cheese, etc. the shrimp were done but I like a little char on mine to where it looks like they were actually good. My wife enjoyed her smoky pineapple marg, mine was just ok. Way too sweet. Actually made me feel sick. You win some, you lose some. You just never know until you try a place out.
