The menu has endless options, so there's something for everyone, but the brisket is the real star, tender, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. The mac and cheese is delicious and definitely a must try. One of the best deals is the sides, just $4.99, and you can pile them high with all your favorites. As if that wasn't enough, they also offer a complimentary dessert bar. Parking can be a little challenging, and there's usually a line, but don't let that scare you away. Grab a Texas Twinkie while you're there. It's absolutely worth the wait. M

Great setting and establishment, I just wish the taste was there. This company knows how to draw you in with their appealing twinkies and brisket display. However, that's all. They could improve by adding more flavor. Maybe salt, pepper, hints of spices, garlic, onion powder, something. Eliminate the banana pudding and desserts. Update the sides by adding something different. With some change, they will run Terry Black some true competition.

Turns out that is mostly not the case. Yes, DFW has some stellar barbecue, but a lot of it lives in shiny purpose-built buildings with executive chefs and serious BBQ or fine-dining pedigrees. Well friends, this is one of those rare places I have only found a few of - A true little hidden gem. I can see why the reviews are mixed. Buffet sides can be polarizing, the building is nothing to look at inside or out, and there is no Diet Dr Pepper, which frankly feels like a sad and bold choice. But let us get to the important part. I ordered the slider plate and it was outstanding. You get two sides, which means you can try 3 different meats, one on each sandwich. I went with brisket, pork, and sausage. I chose coleslaw as one side so I could pile it onto the sandwiches, and onion rings as the other. The onion rings are not from the buffet - and are kinda a hidden choice - but seek them out - made to order, hot and crispy and worth it. This was a lot of food. The rolls deserve their own shoutout. I am fairly certain they are handmade (or gotten from a bakery daily) , and gloriously fluffy. My lunch was spectacular. Hubby went with the ribs and brisket plate with loaded potatoes, which were yum, and BBQ beans, which were just okay. To finish things off, they offer free vanilla soft serve ice cream. Do not "save room" for it, it is not amazing, but it is a nice little palate cleanser and a sweet way to end the meal. If you are looking for fancy vibes, this is not your spot... If you are looking for honest, satisfying barbecue that reminds you why Texas BBQ has a reputation in the first place, this one is absolutely worth a stop.

May be five if all the vehicles were parked inches apart. Many vehicles parked behind the restaurant on gravel and grass. I chose the BBQ Pork Ribs Plate which came with four ribs. Once I got my meat, everything else was self-service. For sides, I chose the smoked beans and potato salad. Before leaving the area, I made sure to grab a dinner roll. The Point of Sale requesting a tip annoyed me due to the amount of self-service. The ribs were okay. There was not as much meat as I would have liked. Of the two sides, the smoked beans were my favorite. Its sauce provided plenty of flavor. The potato salad had a distinct dill aftertaste. The interior of the dinner roll was slightly warm, so it may have sat on the serving tray for a while. As with other barbecue spots, they offered free soft serve (vanilla). Frugal diners should forego the non-complimentary desserts. Unfortunately, the ice cream was softer than my preference. It's consistency similar to a very thick milkshake.

Immediately evident ownership change…read more Came in after a long absence of eating here for their amazing pulled pork and fat japs. Within 5 minutes and before I got to a table, I was telling my wife they must be under new ownership. Receiving the food and taking a bite prompted us to take to Google and confirmed it. I have never thrown away food at Fat Cow, however I threw away two orders of fat japs (minus two half eaten ones that the wife and took a single bite out of) and 2/3 of my brisket taco plate. Condiments bar was just brine in containers with no pickles, jalapenos etc, brisket was dry, bacon on fat japs was cold grease coated and sickly looking, meat inside jalapenos was like shredded jerky. Had never before walked out of there smelling like dirty barbecue before, but we definitely could smell it in our clothes the rest of the night. Definitely not the Fat Cow I grew up loving.

Disapointment After Ownership Change…read more My family and I have been going to Fat Cow for several years. We loved the friendly atmosphere, excellent service and great food. We decided to try it after the new owners took over. While the atmosphere was still welcoming and friendly, we noticed some changes in the food that made me miss the old days. The sausage was a big letdown which looked like a shriveled up hot dog. The mac and cheese had no flavor and did not have enough sauce. The potato salad and coleslaw were not as good as they had been in the past. I hope the new owners can find a way to bring back the flavor and quality that st this place apart drom other BBQ restaurants.

Juicy and well seasoned with a nice crispy top. We got lean pieces without too much fat on it which was perfect! The Dino rib was humongous! I was hoping the meat would've been fall off the bone tender but it wasn't. I think it would've been better if it were more tender. The pork ribs and burnt ends were pretty solid as well. Good seasoning and the burnt ends had a good crisp to it. I think if they cut the burnt ends smaller it would be more crispy lol I really love a good baked potato and this has to be one of the best loaded baked potato's out there! The potato was soft and stuffed with butter, cheese, bacon and chives. It's good to eat with the meats to balance out some of the flavors. I was craving a good corn bread and this one was pretty good. It was moist and fluffy with the perfect amount of sweet and corn ratio. Overall it was pretty good bbq! I'm on a quest to finding the best bbq out there!

In the Texas heat with gas prices being as high as they are it wasn't the most comfortable 30 minutes but it is what it is. People were getting mighty agitated which didn't help the situation. This time I got a text and went to the front and they made my food. Sides were lack luster and I got the potato salad and coleslaw. I ordered the rack of ribs, some brisket (1/2 pound) and one texas twinky. The brisket was decent, not too fatty and still tender. The spicy bbq sauce was pretty good to me but my parents still liked Rudy's better. The ribs were okay... good flavor but kind of dry. Texas twinky was okay... solid spice.
