The pad Thai had more onions than noodles. And don't get me wrong I love onions but it was excessive.

Meeting friends next door actually at Onefold, but as we all love Asian food we decided to go to Thai Basil instead. The interior was nice, but in retrospect I didn't get the lovely basil and curry laden aroma as we walked in the door that foretells of a delicious meal. I should have paid attention. We all ordered the same thing--Pad Thai. I had the lunch special with soup and egg roll. My friends shared a dinner portion. I'm not a novice about Asian food; I consider my self well versed, experienced, and with a developed and sensitive palate to the elements of Asian food. I didn't finish my flavorless Egg Drop Soup that was like a bowl of corn starch and water. Disappointed, but I hoped the main course would fare better. The Pad Thai was bright orange (I dislike this immensely, but I ordered before looking around to see if this would be the case). I squeezed my lime on the orange noodles but even that failed to bring about any significant flavor. The bean sprouts were fresh and crunchy, so that was good. The Egg Roll was not one bit more redeeming. I didn't' finish this bland, flavorless crunch roll either. By sheer habit, I took the large leftover portion of Pad Thai home. I LOVE leftovers, but there they sit, wilting away, unloved in my fridge as I conjure up unpleasant memories of my lunch at Thai Basil. read more

We came here intending to go to the restaurant next door, but they had a very long wait. The service here is quick and amazing. The spring rolls weren't the best, but that's the only thing to complain about. The food portions are very large, especially for their price and it's SO good. It was chill and calm inside, they have beautiful plants too. Will definitely be back. read more

We decided to order for delivery from this restaurant, and I'm glad we did. I ordered the Ramen, and my husband had the Drunken Noodles. I really enjoyed my Chicken Ramen. The sauce was in a separate container, so I could add as much as I wanted, with plenty of left overs for lunch tomorrow. My husband loved his Drunken Noodles with beef. There was so much, that we both have lunch tomorrow. We also ordered the 6 Wok Toasted Potstickers, and 2 Crispy Egg Rolls. These were also very good, enough for lunch tomorrow as well. So, sorry, I can't write about the restaurant itself (the brick and mortar building), but the food was very good. We will order from there again. read more

Ordered from Thai Basil for the first time this evening since they moved down the block. We had the sesame shrimp, spring rolls, and Pad Thai. What a huge disappointment. The Pad Thai had NO flavor, the spring rolls fell apart, peanut sauce very runny and no spice like water was added to stretch it through the evening, and the sesame shrimp didn't come with the number expected for the price. I wanted to like this place. It's walking distance from my house. But I won't be going here again. I ordered chicken pad Thai, and it was mostly chicken although there were three pieces of shrimp mixed in. I also asked for it to be spicy and it's as mild as it comes. VERY saucy. Next I ordered spicy coconut soup. Usually you can see how spicy it is before tasting. I was worried when it showed up as completely white. I'm pretty sure it's just coconut milk with a little fish oil mixed in. Probably one of the most disappointing Thai places I've ordered from. The two star is because they deliver. We have gotten delivery a couple times, and have overall really enjoyed the food just a couple hiccups. The first order my wife got really spicy food when ordering mild. I think they accidentally made both Thai spicy which I ordered. The second time, we selected a delivery time for 9pm and it was 30 minutes early. We weren't home yet unfortunately. Not a big deal, but not the best. As far as the food goes, I've had the pad thai, drunken noodles, and singapore noodles. By far the best is drunken noodles followed by singapore noodles. So let me jump to the point: these dudes are consistently fast on GrubHub delivery. Never had I had to wait for more than 40 minutes on ANY delivery. The food is solid too. Can't speak for anything outside of the Thai stalwarts but their Drunken Noodles with Shrimp is just spicy enough at the spicy option with a portion enough for two servings. I judge a good takeout place by how many shrimp they throw into their shrimp dishes. My findings have indicated that Thai Basil has at least 3-5 more shrimp per dish than Spicy Basil, which makes it my go-to in the area. Eh. We went today before we had to leave the area, and it was a little disappointing. The server was rude, we didn't get everything that came with the lunch meals, and even though we were supposed to get fried rice, it came with white rice. My friends rice was drenched in soy sauce like they had tried to salvage old rice. I got a chicken dish and there were 4 little pieces of chicken in it and the rest veggies. Based on that one previous and petty sentence, I should've been able to give this place 5 stars, yet i gave it four. You ask, " Robert, why shy it a star?" A.) Ok, so there's only one bad thing about this place, let's get it out of the way right off the bat; Both times I have been there, there's been numerous piles of vomit outside. I suspect this is due to their 25 and 50 cent beer specials and not the food. Having said that, I will definitely return. I have an odd relationship with thai food. I have been to thailand and loved the food, upon my return to the US, I found that I hated everything labeled thai food that I could find here. It made no sense to me as I loved all of the ingredients that went into it. I kept on trying, determined to find SOMETHING that I would love again. Thai Basil is that place. Is it authentic? No, not really, but the flavors are all there and in really delicious proportions. This place has a great menu full of chinese, thai and even some vietnamese favorites, so there is something for everyone. The servings are MASSIVE and everything has been amazing so far. The soups are all to-die-for good, full of fantastically fresh veggies and just the right amount of spices. If you're not sure what to get, try the hong kong noodles, you get a little bit of everything, shrimp, chicken, beef and a bunch of different veggies all on top of noodles that are crispy on the outside and soft in the middle, SO good. The restaurant itself is well decorated and the servers are not overly friendly but nice enough and get the job done. Came here for a lunch meeting recently and was not impressed. First off, this really is a Chinese restaurant masquerading as Thai. Sauces are thicker, I don't detect fish sauce or birds eye chiles... No pictures of the Thai royal family on the wall. Didn't seem authentic at all. I ordered Spicy Garlic Shrimp ($8.50 for lunch portion). It was EXTREMELY salty, which really overpowered any other favors present. It wasn't very spicy, either, for something with "spicy" in the title. I asked for chile condiments and was told I could have Sriracha but that dried chile flakes or chile paste was not an option. I love Sriracha but not on Thai food. The fried fried rice did have a nice dense consistency. There was a lot of food for the price, but I don't know that I'd call it a value. Service was a bit surly and hurried. They reached over my table mate several times to hand me something rather than walking around the table to reach me in a less obtrusive manner. Decor was haphazard and starting to show its age. I think Thai Basil is really overrated. I went with a group of friends, and my friend and I decided to share green curry. We both are Asians, but we are not super picky. We sometimes eat at Asian "fusion" restaurants, and although they are not authentic, some food taste good. The curry was horrible - two of us did not finish it because it tasted really bad. The vegetables were undercooked, and more than anything, it tasted like sugar, not coconut milk. I've lived in Southeast Asia and have been to Thailand many times. I know this is not how green curry tastes like... So since then I've never gone back. I just cook green curry myself instead and I know it tastes much better. I always order the Green Curry. It's amazing. I highly recommend ordering it. Also, I think their Thai Iced Tea is my favorite in Denver. I don't know what they do differently to it, but it is delish. I have been a patron of this place for at least 6 years. I am a young business professional that lives in the downtown Denver area. I dont cook much so I get take out a lot. An usually once a month at Thai Basil. On my last visit I asked for Soy Sauce and Sriracha for my togo order. The guy at the front desk told me it was going to cost an additional 75 cents. Thats a bunch of bull since I have never been charged this in the past and it would have been free if I would have eaten inside the restaurant. Their plate presentation is appetizing and generous, and the rice is always shaped in the form of hearts, or stars. This is a plus for my crafty ass. But the service stinks. Plain and simple. You will walk into this place and there will be only two tables filled, yet the waitstaff is dashing madly all over the place, lighting candles for tables that I can only assume family ghosts are sitting at, as they are empty, yet still getting served quicker than I, and pointedly ingnoring you until you have to get nasty. The point of my rant? Get it to go, or get delivery. The mindfuck of trying to actually eat here is far from worth it. Oh, and PS? The Pad Thai sucks.
