Ordered a head of time. Took 20minutes after I arrived (40 minutes all together) it was during lunch so there was only a couple other people there. Got to my car and took a look at the food it wasn't even the right order. I ended up getting sesame chicken (which is fine I ended up eating it) but the chicken was way too breaded. The brown rice wasn't very good AT ALL it was basically white rice that looked like it was colored with brown food coloring. No taste, to peas, no egg. I do not recommend over all!! Steer clear. I ordered from Thai Basil online 30 minutes before picking up. Order confirmation said would be ready in 15-20 minutes. After a long day at work, picking my kiddo up headed there to pick up our food at 35 min. When calling they said they just received the order and would be an additional 20 minutes. I said I don't have time, please cancel the order and refund my card. They said hold on we will get it out right away. 10 minutes later I called, they said 20 more minutes. I said please cancel the order, they said they can't and was hung up on. If I wasn't hung up on, would not be leaving this review. Food was ok nothing to brag about and customer service was aweful. I will not return due to this. I am trying to support local business, but not this one. read more

Decent but not amazing Thai food. The pad Thai was well supplied with protein but a little low on veggie accents and overall flavor.

Excellent in all ways. Wait staff very friendly and professional. Service was quick and they anticipated our needs. Appetizers came out promptly and were delicious. We had the Thai Spring Rolls and Egg Rolls. Excellent sauces to go with them. Entrees came out on beautiful plates and had a wonderful presentation. We had the Thai Ginger Shrimp and the Satay Beef. They also have traditional Chinese food options too. They have been here 6 years and my only regret is that no one dragged me in here before. We will be back. My husband and I had Thai Basil for the first time last night. He ordered the red curry with chicken (Thai hot for an extra 50 cents), and I got the drunken noodles with beef (ordered it spicy). Much to our liking, both dishes had a nice spiciness to them (especially his). The portions were large. Both of us can really pack it down, and we each saved half to eat the next day. We have now ordered 4 different times. Ordering online is easy peasy. They deliver so much faster than pizza (i don't care which pizza chain -- Thai Basil ALWAYS beats pizza deliver timing). Service was quick an attentive, but that's probably because there wasn't anyone else in the restaurant. That's really the only good thing I can say about this place. The coconut chicken soup was pathetic: the broth was cloying and the only other ingredients were some sadly undercooked (raw) onions and a few pieces of chicken. I had green curry, which had an unoffensive sauce, but hardly any of the veggies I'm used to seeing -- no green beans, no eggplant - just some green peppers and onions. The name -- Thai Basil -- is kind of ironic, considering that I could not detect any Thai basil at all in any of the food. Or lemongrass, or kefir lime, or galangal, or any of the other flavors I love in Thai food. Bottom line: save your money. Don't bother eating here. read more

I am a big fan of Thai food, so I had high expectations. The food definitely met my huge expectations. But what impressed me even more was the amazing delivery service. The delivery boy pulled up in a black SUV and brought up my meal. I was surprised because he was early. I can honestly say that in my entire lifetime I have never had a delivery meal on time. So not only was he on time, but he had that old fashioned charm and politeness that doesn't seem to exist today. I could definitely say that he made the perfect first impression. This review is for the new Thai Basil at 3299 S. Broadway. I didn't realize that this is part of a chain of restaurants. But since it is, and since this branch is not listed on Yelp yet, I'll put the review here. The fortune cookie that came with the meal said, "Stay true to the dreams of your youth." My childhood dream was to find the worst pad thai on the planet earth. I have now fulfilled that ambition. If you want to discover just how bad Thai food can get, start here. This is easily the worst pad thai I've ever had from a restaurant. No one else comes close. Think wet noodles with ketchup. I have had a pad thai that was worse--by Amy's frozen foods. I didn't think pad thai could be as horrible as Amy's, but Spicy Basil's taking a good run at it. Even with bad pad thai, you usually get a few peanuts scattered in to help save the dish. Apparently, someone with Thai Basil found that they couldn't find peanuts stale enough to bring this dish down any lower, so they just skip the peanuts altogether. One mark against this place--you know, as a comically bad restaurant--is that the staff were nice. But if anyone's thinking of pitching a show to the travel channel about the worst pad thai in America, Spicy Basil will set low mark for the rest of the series. If you do find anything worse, please let the yelp community know, and I'll give that a try as well. In case, at a dinner party or whatever, someone starts bragging about having eaten the worst pad thai on the planet, I want to make sure I can say with confidence, "That sounds like some bad pad thai. We have eaten here several times. The food was prepared very well and delivered very promptly. The first time, when completing the meal, we asked if they had Sticky Rice for dessert and they apologized and said no. However, the next time we ate there they had Sticky Rice. So it appears they are flexible if a customer likes Thai dishes they don't currently offer. read more

I have eaten here twice. The first time we dined in and it was okay but nothing special. Tonight instead of ordering from our go-to Chinese place (Asian Chefs) we ordered from here and the food was cold when it arrived. When ordering from any restaurant that delivers I have become accustomed to hot food. It's not unreasonable to expect Thai Basil to deliver food hot- or at least warm (temperature wise). I've been ordering food from Thai Basil for many years. Today, I had food delivered and for the first time, I'm very disappointed. The potstickers were chewy, not fresh, and tasted like they had been freezer burned. The scallops were soggy and did not taste well at all. the food that I did eat tasted as if it had been frozen for a while and there was no flavor at all. I did call and speak to someone and I asked that person to let the manager know of my complaint and I have yet to receive a call. I will probably eat here again in the future but, right now, until I speak to the manager, I will not order from there for a while. I will be asking for a refund of what I got today. read more

Yuck! What happened to this place?? We have eaten here many times in past and it was good. Worst Pad Thai we've eaten - gummy noodles in a thick bland paste. The fried rice was bland. Shrimp and Vegetables was poor - soggy vegetables drenched in an heavy sauce. The Green Curry Chicken was the only decent dish we ordered, and the only thing keeping this from a "1" rating. Got order wrong, I called and told them and the lady told me she packed it up and knew it was right. Well, I've never had sesame chicken that tastes like orange chicken sprinkled with sesame seeds. In a watery sauce that made everything really soggy. Sauce was consistency of water, literally. Also gave me fried rice instead of steamed. She said she'd get me new food, but I hate orange chicken, and that's what their sesame chicken tastes like but really really soggy, or I would have just eaten it. I wanted my money back and she said she'd give me credit. What makes you think I want shitty food again? Oh, edamame was barely cooked and not spicy AT ALL.
