Everyone was wanting to eat some Thai food so we came here one day to celebrate a successful project for work. The location was clean, and well kept, but was a little small in the inside. It was a nice day out, and the weather was cool, so we sat outside. They have more seating and space outside. Everyone like the food they ordered. I got their Thai Fried Rice. I ask them to make it more spicy, but it wasn't too spicy at all. But over all it was delicious. Didn't get to use the loo, because we didn't have too much time. Just kind of Average Thai Basil offers a great variety of entree selections on their menu and the staff is knowledgeable of allergens in their foods. The staff is very friendly and accomdating and the owner usually goes around and talks to all the guests. On this visit I started my meal with a salad, to be honest I wasnt a fan. I then moved onto went on to Phad-Thai, and chicken fried rice. The meal was okay however the entrees were a little light on the meat, and the chicken was extremely dry, the meal just wasn't very memorable. Not sure if I will go back any time soon. This is just a standard Thai restaurant with a lot of options from noodles to rice to other entrees. We picked up our order to go and they brought the food to us where we were waiting outside in the outdoor dining area. I got the Pad See Ew with medium spice level but some parts of the dish tasted like it had no spice at all, whereas other parts were much spicier than what I'd consider medium. My wife and I love Thai and we're excited to try this place as we just relocated to phx. Ordered the spicy fried rice with salmon and bean noodle soup for her and I must say neither dish had any flavor. I really don't want to be rude or leave negative reviews but perhaps management/ cook will see this and be enticed to add those beautiful traditional Thai flavors into these dishes. Came in today with a group of 11 and the customer service we received was amazing. The staff was quick and professional and so kind to accommodate our larger group. Service was prompt and beyond excellent. I would come here again just for the customer service. But the food was wonderful too! The kitchen crew was excellent and served up some delicious dishes. Probably the worst thai food I've ever had. To be fair, I didn't get crazy this time. Just prefer pad thai. But what a waste. Noodles were all stuck together. Chicken was dry and over cooked. Overall, it tasted like a dish that had all the ingredients cooked separately and then tossed together at the last minute. Honestly, I've had better thai food at the airport or a music festival. Thai Basil/Park Central is my neighborhood Thai restaurant for take out. I usually order the same thing to go: Dinner Menu #26 Eggplant (Pad-Ma-Kua) w/ Tofu add-in, medium hot. Love all the fresh veggies: eggplant of course, broccoli, red pepper, onion, carrots & basil + ample portion of steamed rice. I also recommend #18, Tom-Kha Soup, a coconut-based soup with lemon grass & roasted chili (& I get Chicken add-in), a nourishing favorite when I'm sick. Their food is consistently healthy and delicious! Real quick: I just returned on 1.4.19 and their prices have increased for 2019 by about 10%. My regular dish went from $9.95 + tax to $11.00 + tax. When you order the same thing all the time, you know the exact price, so I WAS surprised when my total was different. I think they might alert customers with a sign of some sort. Regulars especially appreciate knowing about price increases. That's the only reason I'm giving four stars. read more

I ordered their CHICKEN pad thai with NO spice and NO bean sprouts on door dash. Instead of receiving what i ordered, I got pad thai with tofu, at least a level 4 spice, AND there were bean sprouts. I also ordered a side of peanut sauce and did not receive that either. i tried eating the food, and ignoring the fact that it was not what i asked for, but the noodles are overcooked, the tofu was soggy, and my food was cold. i couldn't have been paid to eat what i received from this restaurant. if you are looking to eat thai food thats even just OKAY, do not go here. they clearly can't follow directions. i have never been so unsatisfied with the quality of food and service received from a restaurant and i advise ANYONE thinking about going here, not to. its a waste of money and you will walk away extremely unsatisfied. read more

Both were quite good, my boyfriend said his medium (3) spice was pretty mild and there was something sweet about it he couldn't quite put his finger on. My garlic plate was flavorful, I also got a medium spice and I would agree it was pretty mild. So if you like spicy you might want to go higher in number. I love getting a Thai tea at the end of my meal when I get Thai, they had a nice twist and had a green Thai tea, it was good a bit more mild than the regular Thai tea. read more

Juuuust right. Lunch at Thai basil was a first for me. As soon as you sit down, you get a glass of water and a salad. Even before you order or even ask for it. No choice of soup or salad, just salad. No complaints here but I did find it interesting they just give you a salad without asking. I got the chicken green curry "hot". Someone on Yelp mentioned the spice level isn't as hot as it should be but for me, it was plenty hot :) my whole face was glistening with sweat as I slurped up that yummy curry. With the lunch special you get a salad, egg roll, your main dish and an orange wedge to finish your meal and a nice little mint with the check. Was not sure what to expect I had dropped off many college kids with lyft at Tempe locations and I now know why. The food is reasonable priced and you will leave full. I opted for the medium spice as I didn't want to be a whimp like the girlfriend but I know Thai food can lead to the supper hot spectrum . And it was just right well I could have done the hot but it had a nice flower of heat with out the burning. I would recommend this as a great spot to grab lunch. read more

Stopped in on Wednesday for a quick lunch, only had 30 minutes. Ordered my favorite Panang Curry, ordered it "hot"...meaning spicy. My order was quickly delivered, a bowl of curry and a mound of rice, looked pretty good. Once the rice was added to the bowl and dish cooled down, I dug in....no chopsticks were given, it was a fork to feed yourself place. The curry was tasty and all the right ingredients were there, however, it was far from spicy enough. My guess is that a downtown place will not make food spicy as some will order but not really want it that way and thus not return. So, I understand. Don't order the pad thai!! Went to Thai Basil for lunch -- it's been a while. Their curry is serviceable and generally their service is quick and friendly. I had never tried their pad thai, so I thought, what the heck, give it a try. OMG it was disgustingly sweet. That's right, sweet! I don't know if they use brown sugar or molasses or maple syrup, but whatever they use, they use way too much. I mentioned this to my server, and she said a lot of people have complained about the sweetness, but (she said) that is their restaurant's style. (A nearby table also complained about the overwhelming sweetness of the pad thai, and their server offered to get them something else. Mine didn't.) Maybe some people like a super-sweet pad thai, but I wish the folks at Thai Basil would warn people about it on the menu or by letting them know when they order. Yuck. read more

I love how it came with assorted vegetables: carrots, bell peppers, green beans, bamboo shoots, and basil! The serving was large enough for left overs tomorrow! We attempted lunch next door at the noodle joint but quickly ended that excitement with a lack of gluten free or veggie options. Next door we went and MAN, I'm glad we did. I ordered their signature dish and it was perfectly spiced (4, I like it hot!) and so good. Veggies were fresh and it came with steamed rice, a spring roll and a soup (though menu says I'd get a soup OR salad option and I was only given soup without choice). I'd definitely come back.
