Very Pleasantly Surprised!…read more Cold rainy night and wanted some pho or Thai soup and I got much more than I Bargained for. I see this spot in a parking lot and looked up the reviews and thought I would give it a try. It wasn't busy and was near closing but the waitstaff was very pleasant, inviting and submitted order and food came out piping hot and it did not disappoint. I started Tom Yum soup and it was very flavorful and nice portion - I recommend the large for the price and take how the leftovers if there is any. I then had massama lm curry, and KaProw And they both had really great flavor - decent portion size not large but not small medium. I had a Thai Ice T, a bit on the sweet side for me, but it was decent. Overall really enjoyed the place and look forward to going back and trying a couple of other dishes.

The waitress point to me where to get the high chair. Krapow chicken shouldn't have all those sauce. It is a dry stir fry. Shrimp pad Thai tasted like it was mixed with a bottle of pad Thai sauce. Paneng curry has peanuts in it. Never see that ever! Mixing with other fillers that shouldn't be in Paneng. Papaya salad is the only decent dish for me. Looking from outside, I would turn around and out real fast. Going inside, it could be worse, I guess.

Ambience is nice: it's tastefully decorated, not over the top. We had made a reservation and were promptly seated. It was moderately busy, but not packed. Service and food were both excellent. Our server was accurate and attentive. My husband and I started with the Steamed Dumplings, which were tasty. We enjoyed our main dishes -- Drunken Noodle (with beef) for him and Spicy House Noodles (with shrimp) for me. He said it's in his "top 2" best drunken noodles he's had. Everything was hot and perfectly seasoned; good portions. My friend had ordered a "sizzling" dish that did not come out sizzling, but he enjoyed it nonetheless; he and his wife had no other complaints. We all got dessert. I ordered the Mango & Sticky Rice, which was amazing -- definitely in my "top 2"! Restrooms were clean and functional. We all agreed we would dine here again. If you find yourself in the Kennett area craving delicious Thai food, I recommend checking this place out. You won't be disappointed!

For appetizers, we got the egg roll and chive pancakes. I would say to skip the egg roll. In my opinion, the wrapper was way too thick and hard rather than thin and crispy. The filling tasted just ok. Instead, I would get just the chive pancake. It's fragrant, herbaceous, light, and pleasantly chewy and bouncy. For my pad Thai entree with tofu, it was decent. The portion size is a little smaller than what I am typically used to from other Thai restaurants but I was still full. I got a 3/5 and it wasn't spicy to be. It was savory, had a strong fish sauce base, and good! I would get this if I was in the area but wouldn't go out of my way.

Bangkok House in Newark is one of those places that reminds you why small, family-run restaurants…read moreare irreplaceable. From the outside, it's humble and easy to miss. But once you're inside, you realize this mother-and-daughter team is serving some of the most authentic Thai food you'll find anywhere in Delaware. We ordered a little bit of everything--starting with the satay and soup, both of which were warm, flavorful, and clearly homemade. The satay came perfectly grilled with a peanut sauce that could have been a meal on its own. The soup was the kind of comfort you don't expect to find unless someone's cooking for you at home. The Pad Thai and Pad Kee Mao were both outstanding, each with its own distinct balance of sweetness, spice, and texture. You could tell nothing came out of a jar--the flavors were bright, clean, and layered. The red curry, rich and aromatic, had that perfect slow-building heat that keeps you reaching for more jasmine rice. And speaking of rice--it was cooked just right, fragrant and fluffy, the quiet star that pulled everything together. What makes Bangkok House truly special isn't just the food, though. It's the feeling you get while you're there. The care that goes into each dish, the relaxed, no-frills setting, and the pride this family takes in their craft all come through in every bite. My daughter, who goes to college nearby, swears it's the most authentic Thai food in Delaware--and after this meal, I believe her. If you're anywhere near Newark, skip the big-name places and come here instead. It's a small spot with a big heart, and it's the kind of meal you'll still be thinking about long after you've left.
