Unfortunately the location in Las Vegas closed down. It comes with fried rice and two pieces of shrimp. I've been meaning to come here but it's out of my way. Because my BFF lives in Hayward. I decided it was on my way and it would be our dinner. It was just how I remember it. It comes with fried rice and two pieces of shrimp. Due to covid no dine in just take out. Mask required. The calamari was all batter and little bit meat. I complained to the waiter with a poney tail who the most rudest jerk I've ever ran into, they would not take it off our bill. Then to top it off the waiter claimed we had been in there (we have not, we are not local to the area) avoid this place like the plague. read more

The drunken noodles are so good here. Was looking for a good Thai spot near my house and this is the spot from now on.

I have been coming to this place for quite some time now but what I got yesterday was shocking. I understand inflation but that doesn't mean you provide such poor service to customers. What I paid and what I got was unbelievable. I'll miss the food but with such small amount of food for $15 per serve is not worth it. I had a huge craving for some quality egg rolls. On top of that, another craving of Phad Thai hit me out of no where! I wondered who could I count on to provide these cravings? I always wanted to try Thai BBQ and shame on me for being a long time Union City resident and not going here sooner! I called in, placed an order for take out and got the following items: - Two orders of Thai Spring Rolls (One order has three rolls) - Chicken Phad Thai - Beef Panang Curry This order was quoted to be ready to be picked up within twenty minutes. I arrive twenty minutes later and was greeted by the host with friend and attentive service. Everything was prepared on time. I paid for my items and went on my way. All the items were hot and packaged very nicely. The Spring Rolls were crispy, crunchy, and packed with delicious ground pork, chicken, glass noodles, carrots and chopped cabbage, served with their special sauce. The Chicken Phad Thai had a generous amount of chicken, combined with stir fried noodles, crushed peanuts, bean sprouts, egg, and scallions. A very well made noodle dish. During the Lockdown 2020, Thai BBQ is one of only a handful of local restaurants I've been patronizing. As a matter of fact, I've been visiting almost every single week! Even before this whole ordeal, I had been a relatively frequent patron, but not nearly as often as now. I have sampled many of the common Thai food dishes, and everything is certainly up to snuff, but there is one thing that absolutely keeps me coming back for more, and it is pretty much the only item I've been ordering during this period of shelter in place... BBQ Spare Ribs! These can be paired with fried rice (three ribs) or ala carte (four ribs). Usually, for my group of three, one of each works perfectly for dinner. The ribs have the ideal level of tenderness and flavor, with that vaunted "fall off the bone" effect that connoisseurs crave. The best thing is that they are always consistent. Out of the countless times I have had the pleasure of devouring them, they have always tasted exactly the same. The fried rice is also highly recommended. If you are ordering just for yourself, I would suggest getting the ribs with rice. The staff is quite friendly, and seems to genuinely appreciate your business. I have yet to have a subpar experience dealing with the workers. The one downside is that the strip mall it is located in has seen much better days. The parking lot is an absolute mess, with potholes everywhere and space markers that have faded into oblivion. Perhaps this can be a good thing for patrons, as the likely lower rent keeps prices reasonable. While you are waiting for your order, Island Pacific Supermarket next door is a great place to find most of your Asian groceries, and it is always dead, much emptier than Seafood City or 99 Ranch. At the time of this writing, we are now closing in on the three month mark of sheltering in place, with no official word on when restaurants can return to operating as "normal." Lockdown or not, Thai BBQ has certainly found itself a devoted fan in me for now and the foreseeable future. read more

I don't understand why there are high reviews on this place. I had a bad feeling about this place when I entered, and I saw a "certificate" that this place has "passed" a hygiene inspection, and the "inspector" wrote "Thai BBQ Restant" on the "certificate." Honestly, it looks like a fake food inspection certificate, is what I got out of this. Then, I saw all the rainwater dripping down from the ceiling. I should have trusted my gut that this place was not going to be a sanitary place. More on this later. I ordered 5 dishes, and it came out to about 80 bucks. The prices listed on this site are not accurate. The prices have risen significantly since. Dishes are upwards of 16 dollars per dish. I got baited into coming here based on that and ordered anyway because I didn't want to waste a trip. When I received my to-go order, I was surprised to see that 4 out of the 5 dishes were using those small black containers, and only 1 of them had a white clamshell take out container. I took them home anyway and I was shocked to discover after I removed the lids, that the amount of food in each container couldn't even fill a small soup bowl. Honestly, I could have taken all 5 dishes and fit them all in one white clamshell container and it STILL wouldn't have filled the single container. The portions were ridiculously stingy and tiny. WHAT A RIPOFF! I should have taken pictures. But I wasn't planning on writing a review. Anyway, the food was not good. But honestly, I was going to let it go and just swallow the loss and move on. I wasn't even going to write a review, because as you can see from my history, I don't usually write reviews, bad or good. Here's why I changed my mind. Soon after my meal, I had to go to the bathroom with stomach pain and explosive diarrhea. It was the worst pain from food poisoning I ever got in my life, worse than that one time I got food from a food truck. I had to take 4 pills of Clindamycin to save me from a trip to the ER. I felt better after taking antibiotics. Waking up today, the next morning, my GI system is still feeling tender and inflamed, and my bottom is absolutely wrecked. TL:DR, I paid them about 80 dollars to get a food poisoning experience of a lifetime that I will never forget. Please, for the love of God, avoid this restaurant like the plague. I hope and pray someone doesn't die from eating here. I'm serious. read more

3.5 Stars Been craving Thai for a couple days so decided to check on Yelp and support a local business during the shelter in place. Phone the order in and person taking the order was super nice and friendly. Due to social distancing only 1 customer at a time for pick up or order. Lots of parking and easy to find. I ordered the Chicken Pad Thai and Beef Phad See-ew. Portions are decent and pricing is good. Pad Thai needed a kick though. Noodles were clumped together so it was difficult to serve. In my opinion the two different types of noodles make it unappealing. I am not sure if this is how its usually prepared or am I just noticing it now. Wish there was more bean sprouts and tofu in it and chicken was a little overcooked. Beef Phad see-ew I would pass on. The meat was tough and overcooked. When I opened the togo box there was a huge spot of sprinkled pepper and it overpowered the dish. Overall I enjoyed the huge scrambled eggs in each dish. Thai BBQ is the epitome of "hidden gem." Inconspicuously located in a small strip mall right next to Island Pacific, it could be easily missed. But don't let its less than glamorous exterior deter you from delicious, affordable and authentic Thai food. Ohhh and did I mention the service is exceptional? Orders are always taken with a smile, waiters always topped off drinks, they always check in with you without being overbearing and honestly each of the servers here are just genuinely kind. Appetizing food is what brings me here and exception service is what keeps me coming back. So a little for a little background... Thai BBQ is one of two locations, the original and larger location is in South San Francisco, people have said that it is better than the Union City location but I respectfully because parking at the south city one if difficult, food portions and smaller, quality is inconsistent and staff isn't attentive so come to this Union City location! I used to live in the area and this was my family's go to spot for Thai, I have tried to find a place closer to my new home but none compare to this place. My usual order is: S1- Kai Yang BBQ chicken dinner: always flavorful and tender S2- BBQ pork spare rib dinner: literally falls of the bone, always very tender. This is my personal favorite. Shrimp pad thai- rich and vibrant flavor, a healthy dose of sour and sweet thanks to the tamarind paste and palm sugar Fried catfish- deep fried catfish with spicy chili paste sauce Honorable mentions: Wings of an angel: boneless chicken wings stuffed with shrimp, chicken, pork and glass noodles the battered and deep fried. Nice cozy thai restaurant in a strip mall in Fremont/Union City/Newark that delivers more than BBQ. This was my second visit since last year. Tried their papaya salad in addition to a couple of traditional Thai curries and was impressed by the flavors and taste. I did not need extra condiments or modifications to spicy levels..somehow they knew already what I liked!! On top of it, they were able to make a veggie/ tofu option out of a traditional chicken curry on the menu in under 10 min of wait time. What better service could I ask for? Since moving to the East Bay, I've been on the search for a go to Thai restaurant. I found this restaurant on Yelp. It is located in an older shopping center with a Filipino grocery store/bakery/shopping center next door. Normally, I love Thai food but I wasn't really into this Thai food. It might be because it's a different type of Thai food and from the name I guess they aspecialize more in BBQ? I'm not sure, but we did order the BBQ Chicken which was good but nothing to rave about. You get half of a grilled chicken which was cooked perfectly but tasted under seasoned. We ordered the Panang Beef which my brother would've loved cause it was all tender chunks of Beef with sauce, I was missing veggies. From Yelp reviews we also ordered the Garlic Short Ribs that were fun but also not great. It was actually small pieces of pork ribs that tasted like they were dredged in corn starch and then fried so crisp that there wasn't any moisture left in the ribs. They were then coated in a thick sweet garlic glaze. It was like eating sweet chicharones or pork rinds. I'm thinking the dishes are catered to the Filipino palate. What I missed was curry, veggies and chili. Most of the dishes were sweet and all had a LOT of meat. Where's the beef, it's right here! If my brother comes to visit he will LOVE this place. DO NOT EAT AT THIS RESTAURANT. I used to love this restaurant but man! Kitchen staff is SO CARELESS!!! Please see photos of the plastic wrap that I almost ate! It was in their PAD THAI. I almost ate it but it was so long and chewy that I had to spit it out to see what it was. When I spit it out, that's when I realized it was a rolled-up plastic wrapper!!! Decided to swing by for a late take out dinner around 10:15pm on a Saturday night because they claim to be open until 11pm on Yelp. Even their website (though it only references their Los Angeles location) says they are open until 11pm on Saturdays. Ended up wasting 30 minutes of our Saturday evening when we drove up and realized they are only open until 10pm every day. Please update your hours on Yelp. This restaurant has been around since I was a kid and I can tell why, this is a great Thai spot! I'm a sucker for their thai bbq chicken and chicken satay! It's cooked just right and the chili sauce that comes with it makes it even better! While I'm not a fan of papaya, their papaya salad is really something else (I recommend you try it. It has a hint of spice!). You also can't go wrong with the drunken noodles and pad thai. Sometimes, I see people dining in, but my guess is most of their sales come from phone orders. You can easily spend $20 from two entrees alone (if that offers any perspective on their pricing). This use to be my go-to Thai restaurant and haven't been here for years until recently. Not sure if the owners have changed but there is a slight difference in taste even though the menu is the same. Usually I always order Pad Thai and S1(Grilled Chicken with fried rice). Their rice plate come with their honey sauce that is super good. It definitely compliments the whole savory/sweet vibe. I was a little disappointed because the food seemed dry... and no one likes DRY. The pad thai looked bland in color and in taste. I remember their pad thai was more orange in color because of the sauce. Mine did not look like it. The S1 chicken plate was also dry. It just didn't taste the same as 2013-2015 Thai BBQ. I did order ahead for pick up and my order was ready in 15mins. The place was pretty busy for a Tuesday night so it took awhile for them to give me my food. Overall the service was great. I put in an order for pick up, 2 Pad See Ew orders. One beef and one chicken. They picked up the phone right away and the ordering was easy as this is my go to order for every Thai place. We were able to pay right away and they take credit cards. I believe the minimum was $8 to charge. When I brought the food home the food was still very hot so that was great! The flavor was good, I asked for it to be a mild spicy and there was a small kick. The only thing that was a bit disappointing, the noodles were stuck together in big chunks and the beef was pretty tough to chew on but I would give this place a second try later based on the flavor and price. read more

I've only experienced the food from take out my mom bought for me. TurboKick kicked my rear that night but once I got home I devoured the salmon teriyaki waiting on the kitchen counter. Sauce on the side! Tastes like a mix of teriyaki and Hawaiian BBQ katsu sauce. The meal was simple but delicious: smaller than average grilled salmon filet, steamed broccoli with the crunchy texture of Korean Sorabol's veggies, freshly chopped lettuce, and a huge serving of what I presume is Thai "Java/orange rice" with eggs that tasted of corn bits (slight sweet side). Not sure how much this cost but I loved every single bite. Lunch the next day was a chicken satay meal with four skewers, heaping scoop of orange rice, chopped lettuce, and some peanut sauce I used for both the greens & chicken. Good stuff.
