Thai Boat Noodles By LC arrives on the Milliken dining scene with considerable ambition -- a devoted focus on Thai boat noodles, a broth reportedly simmered for ten hours from bones with no MSG, and a dining room dressed in warm, inviting décor that sets the stage for what promises to be an evocative meal. The presentation is commendable. Dishes arrive looking genuinely appealing, and the tableside arrangement of traditional condiments -- three distinct sauces alongside sugar -- is a thoughtful touch that invites diners to personalize each bowl, much as one would at a canal-side stall in Bangkok. The service, too, deserves recognition: attentive, gracious, and unhurried, lending an ease to the experience that many newer establishments struggle to achieve. Where the kitchen falters, however, is in the final calibration of flavour. As someone who has spent time in Thailand, and whose wife is Thai, I approached the menu with an informed palate and genuine anticipation. The ingredients are clearly fresh, and the effort behind the broth is evident, yet the seasoning lacks the assertive depth and layered complexity that defines authentic boat noodle cookery. The bold interplay of aromatics, the rich umami backbone, the lingering warmth -- these hallmarks remain just out of reach. The food is undeniably pleasant, but it does not yet transport. A promising newcomer with an earnest vision and a welcoming spirit. With more precise tuning of its flavour profiles, Thai Boat Noodles By LC has the potential to become a truly compelling destination. For now, it is a place of good intentions and agreeable company -- one to revisit as the kitchen finds its stride.

It's just opened for 10 days and I want to try Thai noodles. The owner said the soup took him 10 hours to stew with bones. No msg. There is a special on Thai boat noodle. Buy 2 get one free. Only with the soup noodle it is OK. The secret is to add the sauce provided. They are 3 type of sauce and a bit sugar need to add and only need to add a small spoonful. It's increase the different level of flavour . It's excellent. The mango steam rise to end up dessert. Mango is a bit sour due to the season. The place is very family friendly and washroom is accessible. It's pretty busy in the weekend for parking too.

Mom and I checked out this restaurant over the weekend, and honestly... this spot surprised me in the best way. Everything tasted super fresh and flavour-packed, and the highlight of our whole meal was hands down the Signature Lobster Boat Noodles. The lobster bowl was HUGE, very shareable size, and it came with a whole lobster sitting in a rich, tangy Tom Yum lobster broth. The soup base had a nice balance of sour, savoury, and a little sweetness, and the lobster itself was cooked perfectly. If you're a lobster person (like my mom), this dish alone was worth the visit. One thing I really appreciated was that they gave us three different sauces + a bit of sugar to adjust the flavour of the noodles. You only needed a tiny sprinkle of each, but it made such a difference. Once we mixed it in, the broth became even deeper and more complex. Highly recommended if you order any of their boat noodles!! We also tried a few of their appetizers and side dishes: Thai Marinated Prawns - super fresh, sashimi-like texture, lightly seasoned and really clean-tasting. One of my favourites. Fish Balls with Thai Sauce - bouncy, savoury, and the sauce gave it a nice kick without being overwhelming. Thai Pomelo Salad with Shrimp & Squid - refreshing and citrusy, with a good amount of seafood. Loved the sweet-tart dressing. Thai Meatballs Boat Noodles - comforting and rich, with tender meatballs and noodles that soaked up the broth really well. For drinks, we had the Thai milk tea (classic, creamy, not overly sweet) and Longan juice, which was super refreshing and paired nicely with the heavier dishes. Overall, this place was a great new addition to the area. Portions were generous, flavours hit the spot, and the seafood was surprisingly fresh. If you're in Scarborough and love Thai food, especially boat noodles and seafood, definitely add this place to your list. I'd go back just for that lobster bowl alone.

Came here randomly as this plaza has been popping up with new eats. They had a buy 2 get 1 free deal on their then boat noodle. The soup flavour over powered the meats in the bowl. It very satay-like, couldn't put my finger on it but it was giving me beef brisket with satay hk cafe soup vibes. The meat ball and wonton like items within the bowl was very tiny, couldn't tell what type of meat it was. The slice of beef in the noodles were definitely hot pot meat but very tough to chew. They take cash and debit and for the special I wished they would've told us it was a cash deal only. One of us had to leave to get cash at the end when we asked for the bill. Also, trying to figure out why this is considered Thai? I don't think I've had noodles that tasted or looked like this from Thailand. Want to know what why it's called Thai boat noodles? It's more fusion if anything.

Thai Boat Noodles by LC second day of soft opening. All the items I've ordered just hit the spot! The Thai Marinated Prawns has a good kick but so delicious to start off as an appetizer! The Crispy Thai Shrimp Cakes with honey spicy sauce, the minced shrimp inside from scratch. The Signature Lobster Boat Noodle with the whole lobster was fresh. You can taste everything is freshly made with no MSG. My favourite was the Thai crab meat fried rice, the aroma and flavour, once you start the first spoon, you can't stop! The Thai Coconut Pudding was so smooth and tasty. Service was very friendly and attentive. The ambiance is simple, bright and relaxing. So many items I would like to come back to try! Looking forward to my next visit!

We went to try these noodles yesterday and they were having a buy 2 get 1 free offer. As we were just a party of 2, they kindly said that we could take the extra bowl to go. I have never tried Thai boat noodles before and had no expectations. We ordered the fried shrimp cakes, which were fine. We them ordered the Thai boat noodles, one with beef and one with Pork. I am not a fan of the soup base, it's very rich and sweet. I found it's too heavy for a noodle broth. It is just my preference as I prefer a lighter less intense broth. For the toppings, you get slices of the meat ordered, meat balls and 2 wonton. My pork bowl did not have the 2 wontons but the beef bowl had them and do did the take out pork bowl. You also have beansprouts and chopped gai Lan for the veg. You can choose between 3 noodle options Vermicelli, thin rice noodle and won ton noodles.

The menu had several vegetarian/vegan options plus all other options. I ordered online and it was ready when we got there. I asked for some bowls and cutlery and got some. Everything was packed well and still warm when we got back to our room.

Yummy Thai food with fresh ingredients…read more For two people we got the papaya salad w/dried shrimp, Khao Soi w/shrimp, and pad gra prow w/crispy pork. We ordered medium spicy for the papaya salad and it only had a slight kick. I wished the salad portion was more as it was gone pretty quickly. It comes with shrimp chips, pork rinds, and 2 small bundles of rice noodles. The dried shrimp in the salad was very chewy though, which made it a bit less enjoyable. I ended up picking them all out. We ordered spicy for the pad gra prow but it wasn't spicy at all. I think you can ask for the Thai chilis/ Thai chili fish sauce thing on the side but we decided we were fine with no spicy. Unfortunately the crispy pork was not crispy at all and was also very chewy. Overall it was still delicious! The Khao soi mightve honestly been the least favorite, but it was still good. It is on the sweeter side. The egg noodles were cooked al dente and had a nice chew. Sometimes when I get Khao soi it ends up being too heavy or creamy, but the curry for this one was thinner and easy to eat. The shrimp was the best part - super fresh and bouncy. In the end I thought the portions and quality were good. The service was also super nice, and it was impressive to see our waitress cover so many tables. The restrooms were also clean.

I'm definitely coming back here!…read more We ordered the Tapioca dumplings, the beef messemen curry, and the mango and purple sticky rice. Wow! It was all so tasty. The tapioca dumplings are unlike anything I've tasted before. They serve it with a side of lettuce, mint and peanuts. I liked the dumplings better without the sides they served! The lettuce and other add ons dim the flavors of the dumplings. So I prefer just eating the dumplings straight on. The Messemen curry was so flavorful and the beef was so tender! I'm a big fan. If you're a fan of Thai curries then you'll definitely like this! The Mango purple sticky rice dessert was also really tasty! It had a tasty coconut sorbet and it all went really well together. Service was good, food came out quickly, vibes were good. No complaints here!

Unfortunately, the day took an unexpected turn when I had to go to the hospital, and for a while I thought I wouldn't make it at all. As a testament to both the kindness of my friends and the exceptional staff at Lao Lao, they were able to accommodate us even though I arrived nearly two hours late on a busy Saturday evening. Originally, our table was only reserved until 8:00 p.m.--the exact time I finally arrived. Thankfully, with the help of our incredible server, Savanna N., everything worked out. Her professionalism, warmth, and willingness to help truly made the evening possible. More than anything, I hoped the wait would be worthwhile for my friends, who were visiting for the first time. I'm happy to say they absolutely loved it--especially the outstanding hospitality and customer service. A huge thank you to Savanna and the entire team for making us feel so welcome. As for the food, every dish was delicious. Nothing disappointed. The papaya salad was such a hit that we ordered it twice. The Beef Massaman Curry, Crispy Lao Spiced Chips, Banana Leaf Steamed Fish, and the seasonal Vermicelli Noodle in Chicken Coconut Red Curry were all exceptional. Although it had been about a year since my last visit, I was delighted to see that Lao Lao remains consistently excellent in its food, quality, and service. Bravo!

The service was amazing, we were greeted by the host with a warm welcome, and the waiter was also very kind. It is a true authentic Thai restaurant and the food and flavors are expected and reflect from the culture. Ambience is just like the islands of why the title of the name is there and the decorations are amazing. Let's talk about dessert, the pandan toast was out of this world. I eat pad Thai in every city I visit and this may be the best yet since I first had pad Thai in college many many years ago. Been chasing that epic pad Thai for years and think I finally found it. Amazing depth of flavor. Partner got the Islamic noodles, which he thought were excellent as well, rich flavor and very well made. Would happily eat again. The only issue I had which made me knock off a star is that the glass and silverware had an odd scent, like the smell your glasses have if there's food stuck in your dishwasher filter -- if you know that scent you know what I mean. Just smelled funky and honestly the smell was ruining the taste (smell and taste are so closely linked) so I drank out of my own water bottle I had brought and grabbed a plastic fork to eat with which did solve the issue but still...less than ideal
