Our car had some issues to start and we were stuck at the Allen Event Center. Thats when we decided to go have lunch at Thai Box. We were very hungry and tired. I'm FAR from an expert on Thai cuisine, but from what I can tell Thai Box has a pretty good thing going. Ordering is easy (via the laminated cards and highly descriptive menus), and the staff is very accommodating in tailoring your order as you want it. They have a decent kids' menu, and the prices are very fair. The restaurant feels very clean, and they have plenty of tables as well as a nice shared patio. Overall I think Thai Box is a winner and I will definitely be back. If you're looking for "authentic" Thai food I'd probably look elsewhere, but if you don't know any better or just want a good meal then this is definitely the place for you. read more

When you walk in you get a nice whiff of what kind of food you are going to sink your teeth into. They have nice service and a very colorful place. They do have gluten free and vegetarian choices, so is perfect for most people. This is a family friendly place so you can bring over the whole fam. They have a wide variety of food so it doesn't really matter what kind of food your into if it's meat or noodles or rice. I have never been so disappointed in a restaurant. When I first moved to the area, I genuinely liked Thai Box, but over time the food and the service has greatly declined. My visit today was the icing on the cake and I will never go to Thai Box again. My husband and I ordered food at 7pm but didn't get all of our food till 7:45pm. When we complained to one of the employees she gave us a stupid look like she didn't care. The food was poor quality. Our papaya salad was shredded papaya with lime juice and fish sauce. My pad Thai was plain and way too saucy. And my husband's fried rice lacked flavor. I don't expect too much from Thai Box, but for $9 an entree, my money and time is better spent at an authentic Thai restaurant. Shoot, even Panda Express would've been better. Try it if you must, but don't say I didn't tell you so. read more

I wont be back. It was fine, when I waited more than 20 min for my Thai Basil, and I was only a little agitated that it took 5-6 additional minutes to get my green salad and veggie roll. But apparently once my food came out, it was 10 min until 8pm (closing time on Sunday). The staff turned off TV, turned off soda dispenser and locked the doors. The staff did not care there were 10 customers inside who couldn't refill their drinks or even leave when they wanted... their mediocre food isn't worth the wait, $12.50, or crap from the staff. I called in a pickup order for 3 meals. When my boyfriend got there 15 minutes later it was not ready, nor had it been started. They went ahead and started it but when he got home i pulled out the food, and the 3 containers were only about half full. We had ordered these at a spicy level of 4, and they were barely level 2. I'm so disappointed in this place. We will definitely be taking our business elsewhere. If you're going to charge $30 for 3 meals, atleast fill up the containers like you used to. Nice little Thai place hidden in Allen. I try to get something different each time and have not been disappointed thus far. They serve quit a bit and serve it in a to go container even if you dine in so it makes things a lot easier when you can eat it all. We came here for the first time and ordered a coconut "bubble tea" . The price on the menu stated it was $3.55. When we got the bill, they had charged $4.05 plus tax. When I asked why the discrepancy, the lady at the front stated that they charged us .50 extra bc we added boba. I told her that the "bubble tea" I ordered is assumed that there is "boba" and therefore we should not be charged extra. She stated that they have it written that it's extra for tapioca . It's straight up false advertising and scamming customers. We also ordered a fried rice that was barely enough for one person. Not worth $10. I would never come back here. read more

We haven't ever had a bad meal here. This is the Thai version of quick and easy Chinese storefront/takeout. Spartan accomodations, place your order at the counter and pick it up when you're called/buzzed, but delicious food. I make a point to stop here any time I'm passing through Allen. The curries are yummy, Pad Thai and other noodle dishes are way better than the many and varied places we order from at work in Plano, and the food is consistent and tasty. Sometimes there's a young guy working the counter that seems pretty dense and you have to repeat yourself several times if phoning in an order, but the food is good enough that we just power through that to get the prize - really good Thai food, on the cheap! read more

For fast Thai (or Asian fusion), this is a little gem in the shopping center. If the owners (Nina or Vincent) are working, then ask them for recommendations as they are Thai. If neither of them are there, then the chalk board usually has seasonal or Thai dishes that you may not find at other Thai restaurants. My favorites: Pad Prik King w/ pork Garlic Pork over rice w/ a fried egg Heaven Pork - if I'm not getting the Pad Prik King or Garlic Pork Fried dumplings - I like the sweet soy sauce that comes w/ it Won-ton soup Pho - it's actually pretty decent Thai-style fried chicken wings (not the sweet & spicy style) My g/f's favorites: Panang curry w/ beef Green curry Fried calamari Tom Yum soup Papaya salad Given the layout of the restaurant, voices and sounds echo so it can get mildly loud at times. Also, they seem to have limited staff so if there are a few customers and a few deliveries, then patience is a great virtue. read more

We've been eating here for years, and there have been changes. The competition for Thai food has increased, but Thai Box has remained about the same. That said, my kids love this place. The kids meal portions are big. And I appreciate that the gluten free items are marked. Extremely disappointed in the meal ordered. Ordered Pepper Steak (dinner) to go. Upon arriving home, saw that the meal was less than 1/2 the amount at other places, and even less than an average lunch size portion. Unfortunately, I have to update my review, and it makes me sad. This place used to be amazing when it was under different ownership. Since the new owners took over after that, it started to go downhill for us, and we've stopped going and found a new Thai restaurant in Allen. I will explain: 1. The portion sizes got smaller, almost immediately after the new ownership, which is how I noticed (and why I asked) where the old owner was. (He also used to deliver food personally, so it was noticed when he was no longer the owner.) :( 2. The last few times we ordered, the food was not consistent and sometimes not good at all. Sometimes the veggies were undercooked, sometimes overcooked and mushy. Sometimes the cashews burned. Sometimes the sauce was watered down. We kept thinking, maybe it was just a bad night for the chef, or really busy. But after a while, you can't keep giving excuses and hoping for a better dish next time. 3. The last time we ordered, the order was completely messed up. It was laughable. It's as if the chef didn't know how to make the soup - just a few pieces of tofu, and they forgot the noodles, and just a handful of veggies. It was insulting. Our other order was completely incorrect - they forgot to add the tofu completely. So we called and they apologized and offered to deliver new orders to the house, free of charge. Which was nice and we appreciated it - although when the second orders arrived, one of them was STILL wrong. No cashews on this one at all. But we let it be, and we ate the food - which was just ok, not like the Thai Box we used to know. (In their defense, this was the first night of using a new takeout service, and I think they said the chef was fairly new also, which added to the problems they had that night. This update to my review is not due to this one experience, but also from other disappointing experiences and ended with this last one.) So that was our last attempt. After a few strikes, you just give up, which is what happened here. Maybe the new owners can read this and try to improve things. I sure hope so. read more

The menu had great selections, they also had the popular asian drink "bubble tea", my boyfriend and I ordered a fried calamari, the tom yum noodle soup, hibachi shrimp fried rice, a thai tea with bubbles and a green tea. Food overall was pretty bad, the noodle soup did not taste like the other Thai restaurants we've been to in the past, my Hibachi fried rice was extremely oily that it made me a little sick, also found a good sized piece of egg shell in my food, and I guess we can't be expecting much from a place like this to have good calamari but it tasted like it was fried straight from a frozen bag of calamari, definitely wasn't impressed and didn't finish my food. The teas were alright but bubbles were hard and tasted like they were old. I gave this place 2 stars because it's a great set up and the workers are quite nice, place was kept clean and the menu selection, but food quality is the worst i've had in DFW area as for thai food, would not recommend it. read more
