I've been here once before for a takeout order. One thing I noticed last time I was there, it's very hot in inside, but they may have been an issue during the summer. Sunday's visit was a bit stuffy inside. It was warmer than it needed to be, but it was comfortable in a short sleeve top and shorts. Sunday's high was 76. Parking is an issue, it's all street parking and on a Sunday in April it's quite busy. We lucked out and found a space only a couple of blocks away, close to the boxing gym behind Rick's Dessert Diner. Someone was just pulling out when we were cruising around for a parking space. It's all luck of the draw and The parking didn't have a time limit on it as it was a Sunday and there wansn't a meter. if you're willing to walk a few blocks you've got a higher chance of finding a space. There are a couple of parking lots, but they are paid parking and a few many blocks away. When looking at their menu you will notice that everyone is sold in multiples. You can't buy a single Bao, they only come in sets of 8. Potsticker are understandable and come in sets of 12, which splitting between two people is manageable. Right above us and behind glass there was someone making potstickers from scratch. They have a little machine that you place the filling in the skins and the machine stuffs the potstickers and folds them. They can make a lot in a short amount of time. We really liked the potstickers. I love how they pan fried them. They were all a little toasty, just what we had hoped for. They aren't that toasty on their own, but hey gave us two sauces. A soy sauce based sweet sauce, that was my favorite and a oil and red pepper sauce, that was a little spicy, but not too much. I could dunk a whole potsticker in it and my mouth wasn't burning. The dumplings would have been a healthier option as they aren't pan fried with all that oil, but not what I was craving. These were a good snack to tie us over before dinner. We also came back later after hanging out in midtown on our way home we bought 6 BBQ Pork Bao to go. They don't come with the paper on the bottom, which is nice as it's always hard to remove. They are easy to reheat in the microwave. My plans is to make them a good snack. I tried one right after we bought them and they were perfect. Good amount to meat inside and not too doughy. I'd order them again. I would go back, with the knowledge that it's a warm environment. Come with an appetite. They also make noodle dishes and other dishes such as honey walnut shrimp.
Honestly, it hit the spot...I ordered the vegetarian pot stickers and the veggie fried rice. My main complaints were that the pot stickers were a little greasy and my fried rice was on the bland side. I LOVED the sauces it came with including the chili oil and those seemed to save the fried rice for me. The pot stickers actually had great flavor. I attribute the extra grease as a result of ordering delivery, which may not have given them the chance to be nice and crispy. Overall: large portions, very satisfying, packaged well. It was a great choice for a late night bite at work.

I'm not sure why it took so long to try this place but was super happy with my experience! This restaurant is a little small inside but has a decent amount of seating for dining in. The menu is great with lots of options and a ton of vegetarian options which was super nice to see! We ordered spicy edamame, cream cheese wontons, cucumber salad, vegetarian potstickers, and vegetarian bao. Everything was delicious! The food came out pretty quick and the staff were really nice. I've come back afterwards to try other times to-go, and it was just as good and didn't take long to get. Will be back!
This is a cute little place. It was pretty cold inside though. We had the shumai and fried fish and chips. The taste of the shumai was good. However, it's a bit touch and chewing. I am use to shumai being soft. The fish and chips were enough for two people to share, the fish was flaky, but it was very breaded. The fries were good. The service was pretty good. It's self-service. You go up to the counter and place the order and they bring it to your table.

The older building used to house a great breakfast restaurant that relocated to a bigger space downtown. However it's a perfect space for a dim sum restaurant. The bao were good although a little light on the inside goodness, the beef and chicken dumplings were good and the soy sauce base dipping sauce made them even better, the chicken and Chinese sausage chow mein was really good. I always judge Chinese restaurants by the quality of their chicken and beef they use and Dumpling House did good. Service was friendly and quick. Definitely will return to try other things on their menu.
My friend and I checked out Dumpling House for dinner last night. It is a little hole in the wall on the corner of 24th and J Street in Midtown - across from Rick's Dessert Diner. The inside was very small with seats on both sides of the restaurant. We ordered the Crushed Cucumber, Edamame, Pork and Chive Dumplings and Dan Dan Noodles. I really liked the Pork and Chive Dumplings - they were super fresh and I liked watching the lady make them at the table next to us. I also really liked the Dan Dan Noodles - they were fresh and had the right amount of spiciness from the peanut sauce. I didn't really care for the Edamame or Cucumber - I thought they were both a bit underwhelming and I've had them better at other restaurants. Staff were very friendly and kept checking on us and filling our water glasses. The food was brought out quickly too. My only other negative was that it was very hot inside - I'm not sure if the A/C was broken or just not very strong, but my friend and I both left feeling like it was over 100 degrees inside. Overall, we enjoyed our meal and I left feeling overly full with plenty of leftovers to take home still. I would definitely come back again for some of those dumplings - some of the freshest in town! Check them out!
A former Fish & Chips restaurant that turned into a dumpling restaurant, and for the price, the dumplings can't be best. Recommend their chicken (which comes with corn) or their pork and chives dumplings ($13 for 12). What makes them unique is that the dumpling skin is a little thicker, so they taste delicious fried. They still have fish and chips, which is surprisingly good. The fish is lightly battered and less fried than the typical fish and chips, so it tastes a little different, but healthier. Only downsides is that they serve all the food in plastic tray takeout containers (even when you're dining in) and their outdoor tables are all plastic picnic tables. You order inside and they'll bring the food out to you!
First time here with our friends recommendation & did not disappoint. Its a smaller mom & pop spot but service was quick. We were greeted right when entering and the staff arranged our seating right away as there was 6 of us. Water served right away. Atmosphere is casual, nothing fancy, just more like going to your mom's place to eat. Its a dumpling spot, so we order shrimp and chicken dumpling, pork & chive dumplings, pork & veggies potstickers, walnut shrimp and their general chicken! The dumplings appeared to be steamed and were ok as it tasted plain but dipping into their sauce and chili oil makes a difference. On the other hand, the walnut shrimp and general chicken were well seasoned, flavors were there and crunchy to my taste. Also, the portions were bigger than I thought with 12 pieces for each and very shareble. Definitely will come back when in the area to try their other dumplings & dishes!
I love it!! This was a lovely place, small but spacious and filled with so much warmth and deliciousness. We were immediately greeted and welcomed in with smiles. Seated quickly with a server that asked what we'd like to drink and if we had any questions. Service was beyond any of my wildest expectations! They were so polite, attentive, and friendly. They had so many different options, so I asked for recommendations. And they asked follow up questions to make sure I got something I would definitely enjoyed. We were checked up on frequently. Our waters were refilled without being asked, never lower than halfway. The food was phenomenal! It was so fresh, piping hot! The portions were amazing for the price point. We were stuffed and had some to take home too. The crispy chicken was definitely one of my favorites ever! It was so crispy, bite sized, and well seasoned!! Not too salty not too bland, and has a nice kick to it. The dumplings were filled! And the sauce- MY GOSH UNBELIEVABLE. I honestly, could drink it! Especially their chili oil, drenched every bite in it. And I dream of it even now. I was able to talk to a server about the dumplings, she told me she's been making them for over 20 years! And that they are all made fresh every day. Definitely worth stopping by! They feel like family. You'll be well taken care of and leave with a smile and a stomach full of dumplings!
The aesthetics are basic but I don't care. It's not about the tables and chairs and decor. This is about dumplings. And I Love this place! As a Party of two today we HAD to get the four seater because we wanted to order A LOT to have leftovers. Our favorite kim chi dumplings plus regular steamed dumplings and first time getting the bao buns and garlic broccoli. Wow!!!! Lots of garlic- good thing we both ate it. And it was steamed to l perfection - still a little crunchy and the toppings were fantastic. But YES lots of garlic! The bao buns were soft and the dough is magical. The service was great as usual'
This place is good for its price! However this place didn't hit the spot for me. The dumplings were served on a plate, which is different from traditional steamed dumplings being served on a bamboo steamer. For me, this made much of a difference because the dumplings got cold a lot faster and the dumpling wrapper got hard. Some people might not mind these factors so take my review with a grain of salt! There was plenty of room to sit on a Friday afternoon. We ordered quite a bit of food for just two of us, so the food was fairly cold by the middle of our meal. By the time we were done with our dumplings, they brought out our appetizers. Besides this, service was okay. One of our orders was a chili wonton and usually at other dumpling spots, they use chili oil. But they used chili powder. Interesting choice but just not what I'm used to! It was still pretty good. Overall, I give this place a 3/5 for its food. About average. Perfect for if you just want to get a quick dumpling craving out the way but not if you want out of this world delicious dumplings.
I've eaten at this place a few times and it never fails to knock my socks off!! This spot radiates authenticity. You can tell a lot of love and care goes into the food. Watching them make everything is a real treat, and you can taste the fresh ingredients in all of their dishes. I'm a big fan of the vegetable dumplings. The vegetable chow mein is really good, and the barbecue pork buns are always a favorite. I've tried a few other things in the past, and I can honestly say every single time I've been thoroughly impressed and left curious to try more of the menu. Highly recommend this place. Very tasty. Whenever I'm in Midtown Sac, I definitely make an effort to stop by.

Found this cute dumpling house on yelp! Great reviews and walkable distance from the Ft Sutter Hotel. We sat outside and enjoyed people watching in a wonderful weather evening. Server gave us good recommendations. The food was yummy & we enjoyed ourselves. read more

Spoons and bowls were dirty. I ordered a tea with our food and it came in a To Go cup... and it was burnt. Food was good though it needed salt. Our server cleared our empty plates as our new food came out. Was disappointed as the reviews are so high. Receiving burnt Jasmine tea was pretty heartbreaking. Oh well. read more

The food was amazing, huge portions, a lot of seating, and great pricing. My husband and I went and we just got dumplings and noodles and we had leftovers. Also the food came out so fast. Great food, service, and cute place! We will be back! read more

We came here because of the 4-star reviews and were hoping for a solid dumpling experience, but unfortunately, it didn't live up to the hype for us. The dumplings themselves lacked flavor and tasted like they were premade and simply boiled--not fresh or house-made as we had hoped. We tried the kimchi dumplings, expecting something bold or unique (maybe a kimchi powder on top?), but instead they just had a bit of paprika or chili flakes sprinkled over them. It was underwhelming. The space is small and wasn't busy at all when we visited, but we still had to ask for a water refill and waited around 10-15 minutes for our food. Oddly, our appetizer showed up at the end of the meal, which made no sense. Appetizers are supposed to come first, right? To be fair, the appetizer was the highlight, and if we were to return, it would probably be just for that. But honestly, if you're craving dim sum or flavorful dumplings, you might want to look elsewhere. We came here because of the high ratings, but it didn't quite satisfy our dumpling hunger. read more
The location is great. It's right on J street by many other restaurants and businesses. The area is super walkable and seems to always be full of life. The parking here might be a tad difficult since it's only street parking nearby. I don't know if there is a parking structure that is close by. The service is incredibly fast. When I went, we were seated right away and they took our order within the first 5 minutes. We ordered a lot of food and it came out in less than 10 minutes. It was all was piping hot and very fresh. The flavor of the food was immaculate. I was impressed with their bao, very fluffy but also firm and packed with flavor. Their soup wontons were a new flavor to my palate, I never imagined something liquid inside of a solid like that. The chow mein was alright, I wish it was more crunchy than flimsy. The fried wontons blew me away. They were crispy and very savory. The prices were also decent for 2025. I'd say you can walk out here for about $50 for a meal for two making this a ($$$) for me. The flavor, service, and location more than make up for the price. Bottom line/TLDR: amazing food! read more
I've only tried the BBQ pork bao (buns) from this spot, but wow -- they are *super* delicious! The flavor and texture are on point, and they really hit the spot, especially before a tattoo appointment (which is how I first stumbled upon this place since the shop I go to is nearby). I'm not the biggest fan of navigating downtown because of the parking situation, but whenever I find myself in this area, I can't resist stopping by for these buns. I've only done takeout and probably won't be dining in anytime soon -- the space feels a bit cramped, and the front door doesn't fully close, which feels like it could be a safety issue. That said, service is decent: staff are prompt and polite, and takeout orders are usually ready pretty quickly. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here just because of the parking hassle, but if you're in the area, I definitely recommend grabbing a bite. Plus, there's a fun retro game store across the street and Rick's Diner on the corner if you want to end your visit with dessert! read more

Delicious dumplings [Sacramento CA] Located kitty corner from Rick's Dessert Diner on J and 24th Streets, daughter and I had lunch here for the first time. We ordered (D3) Kimchi Pork Pot Stickers and (C2) Pork And Chive Dumplings. The dumplings were delicious with so much flavor. We were given sauces which brought the flavors to another level. The servings were generous for the amount we paid, 12-pieces for $12.50. The Kimchi Pot Stickers was just a $1 more. Food came fast. Great customer service. I can't tell how big the interior was since we were given the table right next to the entrance door on the left side, in front of the cash register. I'm not sure if this location is affiliated with the Dumpling House in Davis. We've dined there too and their dumplings were amazing. Street parking only (if you can find one). Some of the best dumplings I have ever had. The crushed cucumber was so good and the sauce was amazing. The service was amazing and very friendly. The owner acknowledged my enjoyment with the food and talked to my friend and I for a bit. I love the rustic feel for the place and the food. Definitely not commercially made food and then prepared. Food: 4/5 Service: 3/5 Ambiance: 3/5 Seating: 4/5 Parking: 2/5 Located in Midtown so have to find street parking, and most of it is going to be limited and have to pay. Inside, the cleanliness is questionable but lots of seating. The chairs are wide and cushioned, pretty comfortable. We ordered the BBQ pork bao and pork & chive pot stickers. The food was freshly made and delicious and service was fast. The only reason I rate Dumpling House four stars is because the one bathroom they had was unfortunately out of service plus the reliance of single use plastics and plates. Dumpling house is a family owned restaurant. There's about 9 to 10 tables for people dine in which is perfect size. Many people eat and go. Service was great. They greeted you when you walk in the restaurant and the come check in on you after food is served. We ordered potstickers, dumplings and a honey walnut shrimp. The favors is just enough favor. Not overwhelming which is great and it is fresh when you order. Definitely recommend the pork and vegetables pot stickers. It was good because it's just the right crispness! The honey walnut shrimp is the crispy and not overly sweet. Definitely will visit again. read more

I came here on a cold March Sunday looking for dim sum / dumplings. The place is a bit of a hole in the wall on the older side but clean inside. I ordered at the cashier's desk and sat down. The food can out pretty quickly and I was impressed with the hefty portions. The food tasted very good. I will definitely come back solo but not likely with my family. read more

Got discriminated against for giving them business. I came in 20 minutes before closing and was helped by a woman with very long grown-out roots and dirty mustard-blonde hair. I ordered 6 cream cheese wontons, and while waiting, I overheard her talking really loudly saying something in Cantonese about "speaking English instead of Chinese." Didn't think it was about me at first, until her coworker basically retaliated the entire time I was waiting for 10 minutes and said to her it didn't matter if they spoke either or. Then she told him to hand me my food quieting down her tone, mean mugged me, and didn't say a word. 0/10 cream cheese wontons, service, and experience for $9 and some change. That woman with the mono lids and tattoo eyeliner is beyond disgraceful. Look elsewhere. read more

The service was good enough for this small corner shop restaurant. The location is old and worn and I would have rather gotten the food to go eat in a nicer Environment. We ordered: shrimp & chicken dumplings, veggie chow mein, cream cheese ragoons, & bbq pork buns. My husband enjoyed the dumplings. I liked the pork buns. Unfortunately, all the food arrived lukewarm which is a pet peeve of mines. The ragoons literally only had cream cheese in them, no seasoning/flavoring or green onion as usual. The sauces for the dumplings were better than the dumplings themselves. We had heard such great things about this place but it was so underwhelming. A little disappointing for a V-day lunch... 2.5 stars read more

Is there a descriptive menu available? We have food allergies so it would be nice to know what is in each dish before ordering. The menu here has the names of items but I don't know what is in Dan Dan noodles or some of the other items.
No, there is not. Your best bet is to go to the restaurant and ask about the ingredients.
Is this the dumpling house that used to be in downtown Davis? There was one that burned down that was amazing just wondering if they mived
