Just tried this today, 8/15. What a disappointment. Thai spring rolls, ehhh, nothing special. The Tom Gah soup was not good, way too sweet. Pad see eew did not really have much flavor. We took out from this restaurant a couple of times. I was excited to see a Thai restaurant in Melrose, but disappointed with the Pad Thai and the crunchy Pad Thai. The Pad Thai was way too greasy and too little chicken/shrimp. The crunchy pad thai wasn't even the authentic Thai noodle. They used Cantonese fried noodle to substitute it and it was again way too greasy. Although this place is 2 minutes from my house, I don't think we'll be ordering from it again. read more

When anything that is not a pizza place moves into Melrose, I am excited. There are no Thai places around that I'm aware of, takeout or otherwise, so this is a big deal. The place is tiny, definitely takeout (I think there was one table). Staff is super friendly, both on the phone and in person. My order was ready and piping hot when I picked it up. I tried the Tofu Pad Thai, since it's my favorite and I wanted to stick with something safe for a first outing. I thought prices were a bit high, but then the portions of food turned out to be quite large, so I think it's justified. My Pad Thai took 3 meals to finish, and husband got 2 meals out of his Salmon Choo Chee. My Pad Thai was delicious, it had a strong peanut flavor and crushed peanuts in it, which I liked. I kind of wish that veggie Pad Thai and Tofu Pad Thai weren't separate options because I would have liked some veggies in there, but it was tasty anyway. Husband's Salmon Choo Chee was actually spicy, as indicated on the menu. Usually he doesn't find things too spicy, so he was pleasantly surprised. We will definitely be back! They also have delivery, which I'm sure I will be abusing when it starts getting cold/snowy. read more

Although not a substitute for an exceptional sit down Thai restaurant, Spice Thai Kitchen is an extremely welcome addition to the take out scene in Melrose. The chicken satay is as good as any I've had. It comes with both peanut and cucumber sauces, which is good; I've had Thai imitators serve "satay" without the cucumber sauce and it's not the same. The mango curry was also delicious. It's a little hot for my taste and hotter than most mango curries I've had, but the flavor is very nice and they do warn you on the menu that it is spicy. I'm certainly very excited that Melrose now has some Thai takeout to changeup the 20 mediocre pizza places and one good Chinese routine. read more

I love this place! If only it were less expensive. The edamame shumai are awesome, especially with the ginger soy dipping sauce. The crispy chicken was good, but a little heavy since the chicken is deep fried. I'm not a fan of pad thai period but here it's as good as I've had it. My favorite thing was the EGGPLANT MAGIC which was so delicious! It was all very fresh seeming and had the right amount of flavor and kick. I would recommend you get a side of rice with it, but the lady usually suggests that. read more

Was looking for a quick place to grab a bite to eat and found this place. At first glance place doesn't look like much but place looked clean and had a table to sit at so I gave it a try. I ordered the bi bam bap, my date ordered the chicken pad Thai and his cousin (who was visiting from Gary, IN) ordered the drunken noodles. We were all impressed with how DELICIOUS the food was. Went there tonight. I ordered my food at 6:41 we ordered three dishes and a side of rice. I informed the person that picked up the phone no shrimp (I have an allergy). They said 15 minutes. The place was extremely busy. I didn't get my food till almost 7:40. You can not see what they are doing in the back. I looked in the back no ventilation, No gloves, raw food all over the place. I get home and sure enough there was shrimp in the dish. I will be informing the Melrose Board of Health of the conditions. read more

Tom yum soup (w/ shrimp or chicken) is my reason for going here. Pint of spicy red broth with a couple of shrimp or slices or white chicken. But it always includes scallions and mushroom slices. Last night, just shrimp in the broth, no other solids. read more

The food is really good, but customer service is really lacking. My wife went to pu order was given wrong order . Meanwhile they call me up wondering when i was going to pu order. Long story short the food was cold and when i called up to complain they were not apologetic about the whole screw up that they caused. I was not looking for a free meal like I pointed out but could not get a sincere we are sorry from the manager on duty.Sunday 3/4. I doubt very much i will be going back for a while. read more

Disappointing experience. Ordered drunken noodles, sesame chicken, and appetizer combo - all were mediocre at best. And the kicker - they didn't honor the free crab rangoon coupon despite those 3 items costing over $30. That's just poor customer service so I'll be doing business elsewhere and encouraging my neighbors to do the same. read more

Got the menu for Spice Thai Kitchen in the mail recently and tried it last night. My husband and I were pleasantly pleased,. The food was delicious with excellent flavor and very fresh ingredients. If you live in Melrose and know at lunch time that you want delicious Thai food delivered for dinner, this is the place for you! I order from here all the time but I have to make a conscious effort to order in advance because it takes at least an hour to deliver within a 2 mile radius. The Ga Pao Gai is worth the wait if you plan accordingly. read more

Called in an order for delivery. 90 minutes later the delivery person shows up and says "sorry,sorry". The food is cool and mushy and I've wasted $33 when $10 worth of frozen food from the supermarket would have been a better choice. Please do yourself a favor and don't order from this place; all the dishes had no flavor at all. We have ordered from Spice for years and never had this problem. Pad Thai was bland didn't have much flavor. Mango fried rice was overcooked and tasted like salt. The crab rangoon had no crab or flavor. Very disappointed. read more

Excellent dishes, prices keep me from going here more than once every few months. The staff is always very friendly and polite. My favorite dishes include Drunken Noodles, Lemongrass Madness and the Pad Thai is among the best I've ever had. However, the portions are somewhat small for the prices and I've yet to pay less than $25 here. read more

Spice Thai Kitchen just opened a new location on Main Street in Melrose, and it's great! We went there for dinner this evening -- the food was delicious, the service was wonderful (even when I found a bit of plastic in my roasted duck noodle soup, oops... they replaced the dish for me and were very apologetic). My only little quibble is that they need a better spot for people to wait to be seated. It was really busy tonight, and there wasn't a good place to wait that wasn't in the way of the servers. Never again will I order from Thai Chili Basil. When I first started ordering from here, I really liked it. Delivery was speedy and you could even order online as an option no problem. The past several times I've ordered from here, the delivery has taken a very long time--roughly an hour plus easily--and when the food comes it is cold and soggy. The meat in my pad Thai was way overdone and dry. I tried to give them one more shot today because I was craving pad Thai and they're close to my house. I ordered online as usual and got my confirmation via email saying my order was processed. I've never had a problem with this before. Cut to an hour and a half later and there's still no food at my house, so I decided to call them up and see what was going on. I got a lady on the phone who explained to me that sometimes the order doesn't go through via online ordering. I let her know that this has never been a problem for me before and she had no other explanation. She just said in a rude tone, "well, I don't know, can I take your order now?!" Nope, I don't think so. Not worth the time or aggravation from ordering here and their food is certainly not good enough to wait an hour and a half for. read more
