Really not worth it to go to Thai city. My boyfriend and I both ordered pad Thai which we hadn't had in a while and were really disappointed by what we got at Thai city. We found the portion size was huge which is a plus but the meat to noodle ratio is way off - we mainly had noodles. Sauce for the pad Thai was overly sweet and sticky. Crab Rangoon was thin and over fried as well. Service was slow for takeout and the woman behind the counter was not friendly, borderline rude, and stopped in the middle of helping us to cash out another customer. I suggest trying Thai Basil or Thai Ochoa only a short drive away instead. read more

Wow! This place is absolutely amazing. It's fairly difficult finding a Chinese restaurant that is decent but this place exceeded all of my expectations. I ordered the sweet and sour chicken combo which came with chicken fried rice and an egg roll and my boyfriend ordered the sesame chicken combo. Both were delicious! None of that chewy crap that other restaurants try to serve. You cannot beat these prices especially for the amount of food you get. The second time I visited, my boyfriend and I end up ordering one combo and splitting it and we STILL had leftover food. I would definitely recommend 10/10! read more

Place has been a Westland carryout staple since I was a kid. (though they do offer dine-in). I've come to totally adore their curry - pork is my preference. 'hot' is right on the edge of what I can tolerate but it's so, so good. Generous portion, including meat portion (unless you order seafood, then it's skimp). I have no idea what the other reviewers were thinking here. There are FAR better Thai options within a comfortable driving distance. Lai Thai in Canton anyone? I'm basing this review on two very poor experiences. The first time I ordered here I had the Tom Yum Soup and Pad Prik with beef. Big mistake. The Tom Kah tasted like water mixed with Lemon Grass and a little bit of fish oil. No chili paste was present and there were very few edibles in the soup. No mushrooms, a few measly pieces of chicken and minimal flavor. I was done after about two bites. I ordered the Pad Prik hot. The heat was the only thing about the meal that was correct. They didn't add the bell peppers, and the brown sauce was seriously lacking in the flavor department. No control over the actual flavor of the sauce. It was ALL heat, which as I'm sure you can imagine doesn't make for a pleasant experience. When I have Thai, I want the flavors to do a dance. This was crushed red pepper kicking overcooked beef in the balls. The second experience with Thai City was far worse. My wife had a craving for Pad Thai fast. So, I chanced them again and regretted the decision. Once we got the food home, I found no less than four hairs in my Pad Cashew. Ordered it medium this time and still could taste no flavors. It was among the worst prepared Thai meals I've ever had. I hate to knock a local business, but every time I've been here I've been disappointed. Clearly something is amiss here. read more

This is a great place for takeout. Portions are huge and dishes are good. All around good place if you have a big appetite for Asian food on a budget. They usually take 15-20 minutes and are relatively quick. Their pad Thai or fried rice dishes are a bargain for how much you get. Quality of ingredient are good too. My family has been going to this place for years. The service is wonderful. We've gotten to know most of the workers. Very personable staff. Portion was large, and we always have some to take home with us. Pad Se Ewe has been a staple for years for us, but recently the noodle changed. It's just not the same anymore. Curry Puff is just awesome. Great flavors, and I love the sauce that comes with it. Crab Rangoon are great. Love the flavor. Sesame Chicken is a favorite ... as well as the Thai Fried Rice. Gai Pad Pak Curry is the best dish they have on the menu to me. This is a blend of Chicken, veggies, coconut milk and curry. The flavors is great. It can be a spicy dish to some, but if you like some heat ... it's truly is a great dish to have. This what I we keep coming back for! Overall, a really great place for lunch and dinner. Thai City is located in a strip mall right next to Jet's Pizza. I haven't found a local spot yet, so I thought I'd give it a try. They serve both Thai and Chinese cuisines. I had my favorite dish of Pad Thai noodles with shrimp and a couple of spring rolls. The spring rolls were excellent. Great taste and fried perfectly. The sauce that accompanied the rolls was great too. The portion size of the Pad Thai dish was just as I expected and there was a generous amount of Shrimp. I asked for mild spice and it was perfect and just to my liking. The noodles were not as sweet as I'm accustomed to, but it was a pretty good dish. Overall, I will probably try it again. Service was friendly and it was ready in less than 15 minutes. That's pretty good for lunch time during the week. I'll have to see how their Chinese dishes compare. read more

This place gets two stars ONLY because they serve Thai as well as Chinese, which is how I coerced my boyfriend to go here. I had an emergency craving for Pad Thai so we went an I ordered just that. Generous portions and chicken that wasn't questionable. Yay! At first glance, I was impressed and eager to dig in. First bite...wtf? It had no flavor whatsoever. I assumed something horrible must have happened in the kitchen and they forgot to add something to the sauce, nope. It was like that the second time we went there, as well. Wanted to find a Chinese takeout place when I moved to Garden City and a friend suggested this place. Did not disappoint! I usually order sweet and sour chicken and chicken fried rice, but I branched out to try new items in General Tso's Chicken and Sesame Chicken. They are now my favorites. I usually order for a large group, so I would get the pints of chicken, but I have also ordered the meals and they provide great portions. The dinners for Sweet and Sour Chicken, Sesame Chicken and General Tso's Chicken come with overflowing amounts of chicken and chicken fried rice, as well as an egg roll. Great portions for the price. I have not tried much of the Thai portion of the menu, but what I have tried has been great. I liked this place enough that even when I moved to Farmington Hills, I made the 30 minute drive back to Westland to pick up my orders. Unfortunately, I have now moved to Rochester Hills, so I am going to have to find a new Chinese takeout place. I'll miss the good food, great portions, fast service and the friendly staff. Best gang gai ever! Good sized serving, always lots of shrimp or protein. Love that they still serve complimentary shrimp chips! I've tried the pad Thai and some of the Chinese dishes- all good, all huge portions. Price is very reasonable. I used to work around here and ordered take out often. The food is not bad, however I doesnt taste like Authentic Thai food. I got the fried rice with chicken, and it just tasted like regular chinese rice with chicken breast cut up in it. The food at this restaurant is always delicious!!! I haven't been there for a while and got a carry out today. I live about 15 minutes drive from the restaurant. When I got home my food was still so hot I had to wait for it to cool down so I could eat it. The portions are large so we can share meals. The people that work there are always friendly. Thai city has wonderful reviews , I must say I didn't feel the same I guess I'm only being harsh because it's a little pricey which I don't mind paying for it the quality is there , I wanted Thai style chicken and veggies and I let her know ( the lady at the counter ) that my son was allergic to peanuts so I only ordered the one without peanuts or so I thought , I got a take out and by the time I got home I realized the whole order ( not the rice ) had peanuts in it , I was really confused because I know I ordered the one without so I chucked it up as my mistake not theirs even though I should have called , although it wasn't much they could do and I live about 15 minutes away so the chances of my coming back was slim ..... I guess I would try it again just maybe check my order before paying for it ‍overall it was tasty I liked the fact that I had left overs for a couple of days and despite the peanut mess up the chicken and veggies was pretty good. read more

I haven't been to this restaurant for a good 15-yrs. My mother wanted some Thai food and suggested coming here. The restaurant had been expanded since I was last there and it was clean. We both ordered Won Ton soup and the Bangkok chicken. The soup was hot and had a tasty broth. The Bangkok chicken used to be my favorite entree. The serving was large and there was enough to take home. To be honest it was not as good as I remembered. The chicken was kind of dry and not as crispy and the sauce was heavier. I still plan on returning as they have a huge menu and I'm sure they have other tasty dishes. I left with a big bag of shrimp chips. They are so good and not greasy. read more

They purchased the space next door (they are in a strip mall) and this allowed them to expand and create a much more pleasant dining experience. (before it was cramped). The food is AWESOME, the portions are MASSIVE, and price is at parity. Staff is knowledgeable and friendly. Speed of Service; with 1 being insanely slow and 10 being incredibly fast is about 8 Definitely one of my favs to the point I think I might go there tonight for dinner! Honestly, I don't understand why this place doesn't get better reviews. While I don't usually order from the Chinese side of the menu, the Thai selections have been excellent and the portions (especially the dinner portions) are huge. I always end up with at least two more meals to take home. I also appreciate that they use lime wedges with their Pad Thai, not lemon like some Thai restaurants do. My wife and I love coming here, and we usually order Pad Thai spiced hot. The staff is very friendly, and they love looking and talking to our 4 month old. When my mother comes to visit, she asks to go there because she loves the Chinese food. The fact that Thai and Chinese foods are offered is perfect since my wife and I love spicy food, but my mother does not. Portions are great, since we usually have left overs to eat later. Thai iced tea is a favorite of mine, and the hot jasmine tea is also wonderful. Crab Rangoon and egg drop soup are also staples of our meal. Many moons ago, my cousin and his wife came to town to visit my wife and I. We decided to take them to dinner and then to the Windsor Casino. We decided to find a place to eat once we got into Canada. This of course, was pre-9/11. So you didn't need a rectal exam to get across the border. Anyway, the Thai place we stopped at for dinner was amazing. I have never found another Thai place that even came close to the quality that I had in Canada. Until today! I ordered the Cashew Chicken, hot. It was delicious. Absolutely spot on compared to what I had years ago. The portion was very generous. And they didn't skimp on the cashews like most joints do. The amount of food you get here is quite worth the price. The wonton soup was very flavorful; I love how they added vegetables and pork slices in the soup. The chicken and broccoli dish was really good too. The chicken egg rolls were a good appetizer dish, crispy and delicious!
