Not sure why the reviews are low, but this place was good. Came here after work with some of my coworkers. It was empty, which I was nervous about. I'm glad we stayed and actually ate the food because it ended up being very good. I got the yellow curry and I just ate the curry by itself, I didn't even need rice. My coworkers also enjoyed their food. We got some sampler for an appetizer. Everything was surprisingly good. It was the first time I've tried a lot of those things on there ( can't remember exactly what the names are) but everything was good. Our waiter was so nice and attentive and she gave us great recommendations. The ambience is nice as well. I would definitely recommend this place and come back when I visit Houston again. read more

Food: I've had the pad Thai with chicken. I also have a pot of beef chicken. Both were amazing great flavor. We also bring out a nice soup and egg roll which were equally good. I will definitely come back and try more things up their menu. I will suggest though they should fix out the machine because the sodas are weak. Or offer canned or bottle soda. I have been going to Thai Cottage for years and have thoroughly enjoyed the service here. My sister, her boyfriend, my husband and I are all vegans and love having options. Despite putting "VEGAN" in the special instructions under our favorite dishes, we were recently informed that many contained fish sauce and shrimp paste. (A concern for those who have fish allergies) Our meals were already prepared and they did not offer to remake our items. They pushed the blame on us noting "you should specify that you don't want fish sauce or shrimp paste" despite no note of these ingredients on the site where we ordered from and no option to take it off. We do not like to waste so when she took the other dishes away she ensured us it wasn't going to wasted which admittedly was a relief. Online the term "Vegan" is specifically noted. The staff member made sure to admonish me at the end with a reminder to ask to remove items that we should just know are on the ingredients list. I think the staff should become aware of this for religious reasons at the very least. Again we love the food and will eat here again but will likely frequent Thai restaurants that accommodate us and offer adjustments on items and specify animal-based products on their website. read more

I went there for lunch last week and limited time for lunch so I didn't have a lot of time to waste. I went in there and ordered the pad Thai with chicken and waited and waited and waited. Three people got their food before me and finally when the waitress delivered my food I said was there a problem because it was over 30 minutes. She said well we we had to. We had to cook some more Thai noodles and I almost wanted to say that well. I can cook tattooed noodles myself and it really takes about only 2 minutes to cook the Thai noodles. So it only take you maybe another 5 minutes to mix the ingredients, the peanuts and the the other sauces with it. So I was really kind of upset. Having eaten at 2 other locations and got amazing pad Thai I expected the same from this location. Ordered 2 orders of the lunch special of pad Thai "to go." Didn't think that it could be messed up boy was I surprised. Unfortunately both orders were a huge disappointment. Firstly, even ordering it a medium, the dish was way too spicy for our taste. We couldn't even finish it because the heat was so overpowering. Secondly, there wasn't nearly enough chicken in the dish. It was mostly just noodles and peanuts, with a few small pieces of chicken scattered throughout. Thank goodness for the salad and eggroll. It sort of saved the meal. But the problems didn't start there. When I arrived at the restaurant, even though there were 2 wait staff talking to one another and not serving any customers, I had to stand in front of the restaurant for about 5 minutes before anyone even acknowledged my presence. To add insult to injury one of the wait staff answered the phone in front of me that rang after I arrived. When I finally got someone's attention, they seemed annoyed that I wanted to order to go. Overall, maybe this place was just having a bad day. The pad Thai was a huge letdown and the service was at best a 2. IMHO not worth the trouble, instead order from Greenway or Sugarland where service is always consistently good. read more

I went there a couple of weeks back for lunch, mind you I have limited time. I got seated waitress brought some ice water. I placed my order, Chicken with Thai noodles, one of their regular dishes. Several people came in seated around me, they got their food first, I waited and waited, 30 minutes and I was running low on time to relax and have lunch. One of the wait staff saw I was frustrated and I saw her mention something to the original waitress that had took my order, no one came by to say anything, within the next few minutes maybe five or ten more, the waitress brought my order. it was ok, but I mentioned to her 'Was there a problem?'. He was unprofessional, struggled to get our orders right ( managed to mess up one order at the table), repeated the same questions ( we had family out of town and he asked multiple times what language they spoke even though they had told him the first time), kept insisting he could give my niece cheesecake ( even though her parents had declined the first time). The service is okay but the restaurant was super busy when I visited so take that for what it's worth. I'm rating a 3 because my pad Thai had a weird consistency to it and my to-go salad didn't have a dressing. The pad Thai tasted good but not great and the texture was definitely off today. For lunch, you get a small salad or soup, spring roll (fried) and a generous portion of items such as red curry, green curry, basil chicken, chicken and veggies, or my favorite pad thai. The only drawback of this place is that it fills up very quickly between 11:15 and 1pm. However, the wait is usually short. Because they're so busy, you might get terrible service during that time. Just a FYI. Parking might be a disaster during the lunch hour because the location is located in the popular Carillion shopping center. read more

I've always enjoyed this Thai Cottage. They have been rocking hard for years. The one in Sugarland and the one off Wesleyan and Richmond have been awesome for years. I went to the one on Westheimer near the Beltway last Friday night. Restaurant looks awesome as usual. New staff and they did well. Chicken fried rice with number 3 heatness was inedible for the first time ever in the 10 years I've been going there. This time was different. I was looking for premium white chicken breast meat marinated and cooked to perfection. It tasted like a small, pigeon-like "chicken" from Wal*Mart. The rice was hard and under-cooked. A little egg, cucumber, pepper, and lime improved quite a bit. The food sucked, but I'm hoping it was a bad night. 3 stars because I still love them and know they can do better. That night in particular, deserved 2 stars. I will go back in a month or so and give another review. Hopefully, it will be 5 stars, but they have to earn it. read more

Extremely disappointed in the lunch I just purchased from this place. It's beautiful on the inside nice ambience nice music. Friendly staff clean place especially during COVID-19. I ordered the green dish and I specifically asked the server what comes in the dish, she said the mix vegetables contained broccoli and carrots. She said it also contained mushrooms bean sprouts and cabbage. I ordered a level two spicy. What I received has no carrots in it, no broccoli in it, and it lacks flavor and there is no spice at all.
