Thai Country Café on Delmar is the kind of place that sneaks up on you. One minute, you're just looking for a solid Thai spot, and the next, you're in a seafood-induced trance, transported straight to the streets of Bangkok. Seriously, if you're a seafood lover, this place is dangerous in the best way. #stlouispescatarianapproved We kicked things off with the fresh spring rolls and if I had stopped there, I still would've been happy. They were light and fresh. But, of course, we had to keep going. Enter: the seafood fried rice. Fluffy and absolutely LOADED with seafood. Then came the fish curry, rich, creamy, and just the right amount of heat. Portions? Massive. Go hungry or go home. You will be leaving with leftovers, and you will be excited about it.

I'm from the Illinois side of the river and this is my go to Thai spot! The ingredients are always so fresh, large portions, customizable dishes (lots of protein options), and it's all authentic! The service is really great and the owners are the sweetest people! The ambiance is amazing and very eclectic, you never get bored due to the amount of interesting decor!

We were looking to try something different in the Delmar loop and ended up at Thai Country Cafe. The interior is unique. Their menu is extensive. The menus have pictures of some of the dishes which were helpful. We started with the crab rangoon. They were good but a little too sweet. They have several different fried rice options. We went with the Khao pad nam prik pao and Khao pad hoisin sauce. Both were delicious. The portions are large. If you're looking for authentic Thai food check it out.

Long-standing Thai spot in the Loop. Started with the pad see ew, which was a bit disappointing. Major takeout vibes and it had a bitter, almost burnt taste to it. The khao soi, which had a very creamy and flavorful broth, as well as the mango sticky rice are definitely the things to get. Not screaming about the food but still enjoyed it here. Favorite dishes: Khao soi (Chang Mai noodles), mango sticky rice

Very good Thai food, but honestly don't recommend take out. The drunken noodles had too many veggies and not enough noodles. The basil fried rice was very good as well! Overall still highly recommend but mainly for dine in!

I ordered my usual order of Pad Peanut Sen Chen with Tofu and Crab Rangoons last night and I think I'm done ordering takeout from Thai Country. Let me be clear, this is a review SPECIFICALLY for takeout. Every time we eat in, this place is a solid 3.5 or 4 stars with an emphasis on how great the food is! Every time I've ordered out my Pad Peanut it comes put together with what seems like maybe a tablespoon of the sauce. It just tastes like charred tofu and noodles without it. The Crab Rangoon always comes out perfectly. I appreciated that it was still warm when I picked it up and that the pick up process was quick and easy.

Great food, lots of options of Thai, Vietnamese, Chinese food etc. Absolutely loved the duck noodles and soup! One of the best dishes that I've ever had, with mellow soup that was very flavorful and not too salty. The servers were also very attentive the first and second time I went, always there in case we needed anything. Only slight issue I had was the ambiance, when you enter there is a strange smell in the air and there's this church tower clock that always chimes periodically. Happened both times I was there. Additionally, some of the pad see ew's stir fried noodles were clumped together like clumps of dough. Overall great food, perfect for a lunch hangout with a friend! Came here for the first time and immediately came back in 2 days.

The service is excellent, the staff are super friendly and attentive. The restaurant itself is pretty drab and the walls are crowded with art and trinkets that have no apparent theme. I have eaten excellent Asian cuisine, so I may be biased because this food was subpar. I had the chicken with Thai peanut sauce and I didn't want to finish it. The sauce was pretty good, but the chicken appeared to have been boiled and it looked anemic. It's obvious they use the same generic, unsalted protein on all the dishes and just cover it in sauce. My boyfriend got a soup that was better, but still lacking a lot of flavor. If you are used to quality Asian food, I wouldn't recommend.

Came for a weekend lunch and there wasn't many people here. They open at 11:30, which is comparably late for lunch but that's okay because there are a lot of fun things to do on the Loop in the meantime while you wait for the store to open. I ordered Pad See Ew Sen Mee and thought it was okay. The portion sizes are pretty large and definitely would be enough for 2 people. I thought the noodles had a little bit too much soy sauce flavor and the broccoli also became overly salty. I did appreciate the lightness of the tofu to counterbalance all the flavors. Overall, okay experience.

I get that this is a Thai restaurant, not Chinese (though it's more Chinese than I am), but Meyou might consider such a policy. I would have benefited from it yesterday. I visited on a Wednesday evening with members of a running group. There were umpteen of us. If we'd been given a single egg roll appetizer, we would have been forced to cut it in tiny pieces and share. I would have been willing to do that, because I'm a confirmed, avowed savage. My reputation precedes me. Arguably, they should give you one free appetizer for every six members of your party. But I digress. Now, where was I? Ah yes, Meyou. I'd describe this place as a somewhat Americanized version of Thai food, based on what little I know from having recently visited Bangkok and eaten in roughly 40 or 50 restaurants, food stalls and what have you over the course of a few days, i.e. not a whole lot. You can get pad thai and various other soups, noodles and curries, along with fried rice, egg rolls, crab rangoon and chicken wings. It's got a little something for everyone. Do they charge you $0.25 for extra soy sauce? Can you call up and try to harangue them into giving you a free order of crab rangoon by claiming that they shorted you the last time you were there, knowing good and well they can count better than you? I'm not sure. I might try that on my next visit and report back. This time, I went with something called Pad See Ew, which wasn't nearly as gross as its name suggests. In fact, it was good. Its description on the menu, with broccoli, eggs and soy sauce, called to mind various things I might order from a Chinese takeout--which is what I tend to look for in a menu item. As a noodle dish, I figured the overall flavor profile might not be different from a lo mein lunch special I used to get decades ago, that I still fondly reminisce about on a weekly basis. I wasn't that far off from the mark. They let you choose the spice level, ranging from mild to hot. I usually get hot in most places, but I'm hesitant to do that at Asian restaurants, because they might have access to peppers that are technically considered research chemicals, like Temu Ozempic, and therefore not subject to FDA approval. There were a few girls there, and I didn't want to run the risk of my throat starting to close up. I'd have to find a new run group. Medium turned out to be just right for me, but maybe too spicy if you're expecting something along the lines of a buffalo wing. Even the mild, apparently, has a bit of a kick to it. The noodles were nice and slippery and cooked a touch beyond al dente, right in that Goldilocks zone between undercooked and mush. The heat, and the complexity provided by whatever they use to season this, helped offset the underlying sweetness. You get your choice of meat. No Diddy. I went with pork, natch, with apologies to the Honorable Minister. The amount they give you is surprisingly generous, except that this dish will run you. I'm talking modern-day Chipotle prices. Maybe a dollar or two more. Yikes! But I'd argue that the quality justifies it. If I lived nearby, and I had the means, I'd stop by on occasion.

Came in on a Wednesday night and we were able to grab a seat pretty quickly. Service was fast and our waitress was very friendly and helpful with menu suggestions. Upon entering, there is a sandwich board advertising drinks and seasonal specials, such as mango sticky rice. It seemed to be a two-person operation on the weeknight we went. You check in with the host, who appeared to be taking turns serving guests with one other woman. I believe they have happy hour from 4 pm-6 pm on weekdays. We had waters, and I ordered a piña colada while my beau ordered a strawberry lemonade margarita. My friend ordered some appetizers for our table: spring rolls and Thai wings. The spring rolls arrived neatly plated atop green lettuce with a very loose dipping sauce, while the wings arrived perfectly crispy and hot with a thicker sauce that was slightly spicy. On the table, they had plenty of red chili flakes as well as a spicy sauce that we added to our wing sauce for more spice. I would say the chicken wings needed a pinch of sea salt. I ordered the Thai Fried Rice with chicken, my friend ordered Thai Fried Rice with shrimp (a pro--they remove the shells from the tails), and my beau ordered Spicy Kee Mao Noodles with beef. Every dish was hot, fragrant, colorful, and delicious. The meat was tender in every dish, with pops of color from bell peppers. However, service was very slow. At first, there was hardly anyone there, and then tables filled up quickly. Even before then, we had to flag a server down for various things: napkins, etc. My friend ordered some food to go for her son, and it did not come with utensils or napkins, so she had to ask for some. We also had to flag a server down just to get our bill. Once paid, on the way out, I saw the biggest roach I have ever seen. It was lying on its back, dead but still. I'm so glad I saw it after and not before dinner because otherwise, I would not have dined there. Based on parts of my experience, I am doubtful about returning.
