Super cute little place. I'm so happy we found it. This place is clearly family run. You can see momma in the kitchen chopping, sauteeing, and doing it all. She had help, but it's so impressive and obviously from the heart. I was so excited to see Khao Soi, it's so rare to find northern thai food in So Cal. It was soooooo good! It had all the accoutrements. If you know, you know. The other winner was the pad catfish. Wow! So flavorful and delicate. We also got the crying tiger, and for those steak eaters, it's super good. We got a couple different curries, the egg rolls, and the potstickers. Not a bad plate. The meat was good quality. The flavor was full. They don't skimp on anything. The space is small but well decorated. Very modern. The service was cute. It was a young teenage boy. He was a bit shy, and didn't clear our plates. We had to ask him to come over when we wanted to order. I can't tell if that's on purpose (like he didn't want to bother) or if he is just really shy. They have no alcohol. It's BYO. We will definitely come back. It's the best Thai I've had around here in a long time. read more

This place is so yummy. I am from Long Beach and have not found a good Thai spot in LB, a lot of those places lack flavor. However, The people here at Del Mar are so kind and go out of their way to make sure you have everything you need. The Pad See Ew and Edamame came out to 29 dollars so for me, a little pricey but definitely worth it. The Pad See Ew was very flavorful and such a good portion of Chicken! Even when I was nearly done with my plate, I still had chicken left! I wanted to lick my plate clean. My only critique is that the chicken was slightly dry but I believe it was chicken breast and breast typically is. Pairing the chicken with a bite of noodles is the way to go. I got the medium spice level and as someone who has a good tolerance for spice, it wasn't very spicy so if you're like me, definitely go for spicy! I definitely will come back read more

Thai Del Mar used to be a hole in the wall take out place but it is now renovated under new management. We ordered several dishes that were good eg chicken wings, basil fried rice, and chicken pad sea ewe (rice noodles). They have a separate menu for Kha soi which is a northern dish of curry noodles. Came here on a Sunday night and the restaurant is very small but very intimate and so beautifully decorated that you feel welcomed. The colors are bright not distracting. The staff, very attentive and kind. They don't hover but they do take care of their guests. Now, the food. The prices are fair and the portions are big but what's even better? The taste. So many different flavors that are so beautifully crafted. The pad Thai and yellow curry, fawkin awesome. 20/10 would recommend. read more

Thai Del Mar has always been a consistent option for yummy Thai food in the CdM Newport Beach area. I used to order here all the time with the previous owners when they offered delivery before covid. Anyhow, it's still delicious with the new owner. Food is still good and consistent. Not the best I've had, but I've never had a bad meal here either. Prices definitely went up, but that's expected as all prices have gone up. I will say that with the new owner, the inside of the restaurant is much more dine-in friendly in my opinion. My husband read a comment on Nextdoor that this restaurant has new ownership and the food is great. I was a little suspicious but what the heck, let's give it a try. We ordered 4 things on the menu 1) pad see ew () tastes authentic and delicious 2) chicken satay () horrible, flavorless, threw it away 3) yellow curry () told them mild and gave us spicy watery curry mess, threw it out) AND they forgot the rice 4) Thai fried rice () not even sure what it was, threw it out When my husband went to pick up the food and wanted to check to make sure everything was there, the person was so offended and said it's all there. So my husband didn't check. Well not everything was there. If you're thinking about coming here, goto Thai Station in Irvine and Hanuman in Costa Mesa; they are authentic and excellent. We were really hoping this restaurant was authentic because it's so close to our house. Unfortunately, this was a big disappointment. We will never go back again. read more

My absolute favorite is their Yellow Chicken I always mean to take pictures but it's so tasty that I gobble it up before I remember! Not at all surprised to see they were nominated this year as a best restaurant in the LA Times Best of OC. Just noticed too on my last visit that they offer delivery in the immediate vicinity. First came to Thai Del Mar a few week weeks ago after being disappointed with other Thai spots in the area. Wasn't expecting much, but was very pleasantly surprised. The chicken khao soi was to die for with fall off the bone chicken and delicious flavors. The roti reminded me exactly of my favorite dish I used to get growing up in Asia. I've been going to Thai Del Mar since I was very little. It's a small restaurant that's easily overshadowed by the pizza place next door and Summer House. It's easily my favorite thai place, nothing else compares. I recommend the Spicy Mint Chicken and any of their curries. As a picky child, I survived off of their Chicken Satay. It's a small restaurant that's usually does take out so I reccomend take out but they usually have plenty of space to sit since they're so under appreciated. Wait time is pretty short, I think it's a family buisness because I always see the same guy at the counter. Only downside is they're closed on Mondays. read more

Stopped by with a group of 6, got 6 entrees + dumplings. There were some locals in there who told us that its their favorite dig and we quickly found out why. All the food came out hot, fast, fresh and the owner (he was a sweetheart) gave us a huge tray of dumplings for free. Levels of spiciness (1-5) were actually accurate which can be hard with Thai (for reference I usually do 3-4) and the flavor was delicious.
