I've always been a fan of Thai food. In fact, over the years my taste buds have changed where I actually enjoy it more spicy than not. So I was super excited when my friend recommended me go there for dinner. Now I had seen this place for a million years when I lived in Orange county and it had changed hands a while back. But I was so excited as it's probably one of the more beautiful restaurants that I've seen right off of Pacific Coast highway. They have valet parking in the front, and because Newport Beach is severely limited in their parking choices, it's best to take advantage of that. Walking into the place, it has a wonderful, warm inviting atmosphere. The people and servers are really helpful and very warm in the front. They definitely make good suggestions, so take advantage of their expertise. We ate a bunch of stuff. From the spring rolls, to the chicken set hey, too to Coconut milk soup to crying tiger, I was absolutely stuffed by the time dessert came around. My friend told me I had to try the Coconut ice cream, but I was leaning more towards to the Thai tea creme brulee. I said what the heck? Let's order both. Everything was absolutely delicious and perfectly cooked. I would give this place 10 Stars if I could but you will only allow five so let me say it here. This is definitely a 5 plus place. Bottom line? I will definitely be coming back here again. If you live anywhere near Newport Beach, you owe it to yourself to go to this place. We had Zabb Thai for lunch at our office this week. There was: Papaya salad, spicy & good but missing the crunch of fresh papaya. Chicken pad see ew, I think. Also good but the noodles were mushy and not chewy. Beef and vegetables stir fried: Was good. Vegetarian pad thai, I think. I loved this dish. The noodles were still chewy and tofu was not hard. Good flavor. Veggies spring rolls. This was okay. I'd prefer the regular spring rolls with meat. Wow!! Fiiiiiinally made it to this not-so-hidden gem!!! Drove by a million times but never stopped. Soooo glad I did!! There is literally no parking...so they offer complimentary valet parking!! Amazing!! We got seated right away..it was 6 on a Thursday and there was a steady flow of people. The dining area was nice and cozy with a large fireplace as the central focal point. You weren't overhearing other conversations and the lighting was nice and soft. Cloth napkins and table cloths were a really nice touch. Especially when the prices averaged 20-30 per plate. Depends on what protein you get ...our squid pad Thai was $20 (5/2026) and it was a huuuuuge portion. Sooo worth it!! The tom kha soup pot was also a huuuuge portion for $18. A real value!!the vegan in our group was beyond happy with the selection-pretty much the entire menu...plus the vegan dessert options were more than expected. Decent Thai food in Newport Beach - we did takeout from here earlier this evening instead of braving the Valentine's Day crowds. We paid a little over $150 for: Thai chicken wings, Rice, Veg Pot stickers, Mee krob with tofu, Yellow curry with tofu, Satay chicken, Kapow chicken, and Drunken noodles with vegetables. All the food was enjoyed, but my favorites were the apps: pot stickers, satay chicken and Thai chicken wings. I still love Zabb so much! It has become my fiancé & my go to spot...so much so that my fiancé planned a surprise engagement dinner party with friends and family after he proposed to me! A large long dining table was put together near the fireplace for all of our people to share dinner & a celebration together. An out of town friend had sent a cake and Zabb was kind enough to let us serve it after dinner. There were a lot of us and the staff at Zabb handled it so well. Zabb remains a favorite & our families and friends love it too! Zabb has countless vegan options for me and my family and friends & non-vegan options for my fiancé and his family! I looked for thr best Thai food and the area and I think we struck gold! We had 5 dishes and we could have gone down to 2 or 3 the portions are so large! We started with Cream cheese fried wontons, shrimp spring rolls, and steamed potstickers. I would say the potstickers were mynleast favorite. They were Thai style so a little different then I expected but still good. Also had a delicious Tom kha soup which is delicious! Creamy and filled with shrimp in every bite. The 5 dishes we went with were Red Curry, Singapore Mai Fun, Young Ginger with Duck, BBQ pork with chow fun noodles. and finally the combo fried rice. I have to say, that the meal was one of the best I had in a Thai restaurant in some time. Fireplace lit in the back area tables of all sizes with a wonderful relaxing ambiance. Thanksgiving at Zabb Thai Cuisine (Minus the Turkey, Plus Way More Flavor) If Thanksgiving dinner packed its bags, ditched the turkey, and ran off to Thailand for a flavor upgrade, it would taste exactly like our night at Zabb Thai Cuisine. We kicked things off with the beef skewers, a solid start--basically the appetizer version of that one dependable cousin who always brings the good mac 'n' cheese to the family potluck. My picky eater ordered a kids' toy-Rogers situation (truly a Thanksgiving miracle) which he enjoyed... but then he met the lemon chicken. True to form, he looked at it the same way he looks at Aunt Jasmin's mystery casserole: absolutely not. A tradition is a tradition. I ordered the mango burst, which was delicious but sweet enough to qualify as its own dessert. Thankfully, the tom kha soup with shrimp brought balance back to my universe. Creamy, cozy, and loaded with shrimp--like wrapping yourself in a warm blanket after your third plate of food at Thanksgiving dinner. My handsome BF stayed classic with a Thai iced tea and the garlic pepper shrimp with white rice--a combo so good even the Thanksgiving turkey would retire early. And dessert? Mango fritters with mango ice cream. Perfect. Shareable. The kind of dessert you pretend you'll split evenly but definitely end up negotiating like it's the last slice of holiday pie. I was with a party of 12, which I know can make service a bit trickier to manage. Not here! The service was attentive, friendly, and checked in with us throughout the night, but weren't hovering. Our party was split with vegans and non-vegans and the servers were very explicit when they brought the dishes what items were/were not vegan. Love that there is a separate menu for vegans and that all of the employees were knowledgeable about the variety of vegan dishes. The food was delicious! Flavorful, colorful, and fresh! The variety of textures added to the deliciousness. The noodles were SO good. The yellow curry, yum! All of the vegans loved the vegan duck. None of us had tried vegan duck before. Who knew it would be a hit?! I guess Zabb did. :) The restaurant is lovely. The bar is at the entrance, and the bartender was making some fun looking drinks (I saw a lychee mojito and an old-fashioned getting made). I enjoyed my Brut, but next time I will opt for a tropical drink! Lots of lighting, but not overwhelmingly bright (if that makes sense). We were seated by a fireplace (great aesthetic)! Everything we ate was pretty good, would definitely get the curry noodle dish again. Would probably not get the pumpkin custard desert again, though. My friend recommended this Thai restaurant and she picked a winner! They have a small bar area near the main doors if you are dining alone otherwise the sitting portion is beautiful. Great for a romantic dinner, business meal, friends get together--everyone. Food here was excellent--I got my usual spicy eggplant with chicken and it was the best. Also had a salad with peanut dressing that was very good. Portion size was above average which this large eating guy needs. The folks that work here were nice and service was efficient. The Tom Kha was so hot that we had to let it cool off for 20 minutes. Speaking of hot... we got Level 4 spice in the Pad Thai and Tom Kha and it was SPICY! I was rushing to put some mango sticky rice in my mouth just for some relief. We got the Pad Thai with chicken (there were some surprise tofu pieces in there so beware if you have a soy allergy) and everything was great. Every bite was delicious, noodles, peanuts, beans sprouts, a spray of lime juice- you can't go wrong with Pad Thai. The Tom Kha was comforting, umami forward and still very spicy. They loaded it with cabbage, mushrooms and other veggies. The mango sticky rice had mango that was incredibly soft. Like scrape a fork and leave an indent soft. We went to Zabb Thai for an early Father's Day lunch before a boat ride in the afternoon and it ended up being a great choice. The restaurant is right on the 1, so it's on a pretty busy street. Parking is valet only, but it's complimentary which made things convenient. The space is pretty big and can easily accommodate both small and large groups. Service was excellent. Our server was super friendly, made great recommendations, and everything came out quickly. We started with the mango salad, which our server recommended over the papaya salad, and she was absolutely right. It was delicious. The mix of carrots, cabbage, and red onions gave it a great crunch, and the dressing had just the right amount of acidity. It also came with large shrimp that were cooked perfectly. We also got the appetizer platter, which was perfect for sharing. It came with a nice variety of bites so everyone had something they enjoyed. The spring rolls, egg rolls, crab rangoons, and satay were all solid. For entrees, we had the crying tiger, panang curry, and chicken pad Thai. The crying tiger had super tender beef with a nice grilled flavor. The panang curry was rich and creamy with a really good balance of spice and sweetness. The pad Thai was flavorful, not too oily or sweet, and the noodles were cooked just right. We finished everything. To end the meal, we had mango sticky rice which was creamy, comforting, and not too sweet. I also tried the lychee ice cream which had real lychee pieces in it and a light, refreshing flavor. We came here on Valentine's Day and it was so cute! They had a little area with balloons you could take pictures at & had little hearts hanging from the windows. I started off with the mango green tea and it was SO good. It tastes like the tea when you go to a boba place & they had free refills on it. That's a huuuuge plus for me. It was more of a puffy airy fry than a true crispy type of fry. I wouldn't order this one again. I did like the sarong shrimp. The portions here are HUGE - it's definitely family style for the entrees. I got the pad Thai & ate it across 3 different meals, that's how big it is. I got it with shrimp but I didn't feel like the shrimp soaked up the sauce well. I'll try it with chicken next time. I thought the noodles were cooked well - I liked this dish. We got the Thai tea creme brûlée and were disappointed. I had to send it back. The top wasn't really crispy and when you took a bite - you saw the creme brûlée was watery underneath. As a Thai food lover and a vegetarian, I would definitely recommend this place! I came with my family last weekend not knowing it was included in restaurant week so understanding the parking was definitely an experience. They have free valet parking but because it appeared as only two people were working the valet, we had a difficult time understanding what to do, so more clarity on that for people with reservations would be great! Still, even with the large crowd I think their customer service was great and the workers (valet and waiters) were very nice. We got the vegan sampler which was perfect to share and try a variety of their appetizers. I personally loved the vegan chicken satay and would love to come back just for that! Of course, I also got a thai tea which was refreshing and on the sweeter side. For my meal I got Drunken Noodles, medium spice which I probably shouldn't have done as it was too spicy for me (never underestimate Thai spice) :( It was still delicious regardless though. We were sat in a booth and after the staff noticed that a booth was probably not the ideal table to sit two big guys. It was a cool, winter morning when I got a craving for some Thai curry and hot chrysanthemum tea. I headed north on pch in Newport where I found my new favorite Thai place- Zabb! Zabb Thai boasts authentic cuisine, great service, and upscale white-linen ambience. Their signature alcoholic Thai tea looks amazing. The pumpkin curry, the pra ram with peanut sauce, and pad see ew were all delicious, but my favorite was the bbq pork pineapple fried rice. Zabb is simply incredible and they really deliver if you want a nice date spot for you and your girlfriend or wife. Spice up your date with the fish sauce and chili oil served in the most beautifully presented arrangement. Zabb has my vote for best Thai food of 2025! Came here for dinner and ordered the Drunken Noodles with tenderloin steak ($24) and Pad Thai with chicken ($19). The portions were generous, and prices were equitable for the great location. Service was great we were seated right away, food was out in a timely matter, and our drinks remained filled. The atmosphere was very welcoming. There were Thai decorations and a large window to watch the sunset through. Parking is extremely tight and our only issue we had was the parking attendant. My coworker had visited prior that month and warned me about an Indian guy with glasses in his late 20s. The attendant had given him attitude as soon as he pulled up. I came here with an open mind but experienced a similar interaction. A truly unique Thai dining experience-- What makes Zabb so special is how they provide such an exciting array of exciting side dishes. By paying attention to the smallest detail within this wide offering of complementary garnishes at lunch, what ensues is a truly diverse set of quality tastes. Everything, from the egg roll, to its sauce, to the salad, to the salad dressing, to the soup, to the rice to the (Massaman curry) chicken itself, is perfect. Nothing gets dropped. Most Thai restaurants-even at lunch--settle on a mountain of rice with low quality chicken and--if you're fortunate --a quality saturated sauce, here, while the chicken and sauce were outstanding, whether it be the pungency of the Massaman curry sauce, or its consistency, it's only part of the overall food experience. When taken as a whole, their lunch offering is a genuinely special experience. Pricing, service, location, parking are all good as well. There was a strong mildew odor within the restaurant today.
