Saigon Beach Ground Pork Crispy Egg Roll
    Tim W.

I was greeted early when I came in. I then asked if they had Banh Xeo there but she didn't know what that was which was weird. But oh well. I got the 3 fried egg rolls and the combo Banh Mi. The fried egg rolls were amazing! I recommend everyone get that. The Banh Mi was not tasty nor authentic at all. Was that mayo in there?? I was still so hungry after I went to another place and ordered an entree. I regret tipping 18% on my Togo ordered. Do note they do take a while to make your food. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They had a lot of corny Pho sayings on the wall. Read some and just stopped after 2. One read "may the pho be with you.." like wtf. Doesn't even rhyme with Force. At least make it plural to kinda sound similar.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

My friends and were craving pho near the beach and stumbled upon this place. It was definitely warm that day and there were not a lot of people inside. Service was fast though with the food. I ordered the eggrolls as an appetizer and then had their pho. The eggrolls were crunchy but would have liked a bit more flavor and portion for the price. As for the pho, there were good portions of meat, but the broth did not taste as flavorful and was bland.

This place is seriously a letdown not even close to the taste of Vietnamese food.. you're better off spending the money on gas going to Westminster to get good authentic Vietnamese food. Seriously overpriced!!! Not going there again Super salty Pho

I LOVE their shrimp spring rolls. It's $11.50 and little bit pricey in compare to other places but it's worth it. Shrimp spring rolls with Avocado yum yum yum!!!! Great combination! Fresh and tasty! The service always great here! The workers always welcoming. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance is cute! Lots of writings and pictures all over the wall and make you busy while you are waiting.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]..Try it and you'll love it! Wherever we go for eating pho this place is our stop for shrimp roll. It's hard to order from somewhere else when you try this location. Saigon Beach you are forever on my heart.

Pork Belly & Grilled Pork Bun Sliders, 420 Downtowner Special, and Nam Nam Wings

Overall: 3.6/5 (dine in) This is a small storefront that's street facing so it might be hard to find parking right in front. I was surprised when I got there because I thought it was a sit down restaurant but the set up is really for take out/delivery. They have bars & stools along the side of the walls but at max, the restaurant can only seat 8-10 people. Customer service is good here though. Pork Belly Bun Slider ($5.95): Better than the grilled pork slider but was just okay. Grilled Pork Bun Slider ($5.75): The grilled pork was very dry. For both sliders, they gave a lot of carrots which I liked but they were lacking all the Vietnamese flavors. The buns were soft though. 420 Downtowner Special ($10.25): We were both so disappointed when we tried this. The presentation was nice but the taste was mid. The green colored rice and the shredded chicken were bland. The pork on top was a bit less dry than the one in the bun and was the only thing with flavor. Nam Nam Wings (5 Wings For $7.95): The wings were the best item of the night. They were crispy and tasty.

Bit pricey but damn is that food good. Never had veg banh mi so tasty mmmm. And they were accommodating of the large (6 person) group

The pork bahnmi :: forgive spelling:: was actually pretty great. I loved the smoky aroma within the pork and it had a lot of flavor. It was my favorite. I had quite a bit of bahnmi and they weren't as impressively as flavored as this one. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I really liked how casual the atmosphere was, I got a kick out of the wall decoration with a play on words.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The server was very flattered by my compliment. She did exactly what was needed. I was there around noon, 4/17/25 so i hope the manager knows who she is and did a good job. Again that was the best sandwich.

I enjoy a good Vietnamese restaurant but when I stopped in I didn't get any food. It was a warm Spring day so I opted for one of their limeades. They have them in the bubbler so I chose the mango passionfruit one. It was delightful albeit a tad sweet. It's a good thing they pack with full with ice so it can mellow out. I took my drink and walked along the boardwalk taking in the ocean views and the cool breeze. Do yourself a favor and don't sleep on supporting a neighborhood Asian restaurant. Cheers!

Yum! Thst grilled pork vermicelli was excellent. Grilled just right with thst jusicy, tender pork on the vermicelli made just right . Not too soft or mushy. Nice and firm noodles. The vegetables in it were fresh and crispy too. Highly recommended!

Great Vietnamese food in Newport! [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a nice little spot in the popular area of Newport Beach.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]There isn't much seating but it's the perfect grab n go.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service was good and quick. The food was even better. Grilled Turmeric Chicken Vermicelli Noodle was a 10/10! The chicken was seasoned and perfectly cooked. The noodles were great. It was filling and the sauce was perfect. The shrimp spring rolls 10/10. They taste like authentic spring rolls. The peanut sauce was untraditional, but still good peanut sauce.

Cool inside! We were cracking up at the puns

A pho baguette? It's like Bahn Mi and Pho had a baby and it was the best of both! It was so so so good! Think French dip with pho flavors dipped in pho broth! The pork and vermicelli was so fresh and so delicious! The buns were incredible! This will always be on our list when we come visit! Can't wait to try more food options! Everything was so so good!

The only reason this place is getting 2 STARS is because the service sucks and they greedy with chili oil!! We order our food and tell me why did the guest after us received their food before us. Also, when we requested for chili oil it went from grands to mini tall size (Starbucks). The staff weren't not attentive and were very slow!! The food wasn't too bad. I give the pho (3/5) the eggs roll (3/5). The decor was very artistic with hand written tags on the wall and a few pictures on the wall. The small is very small. I would have thought this place would have better service since it's in NEWPORT BEACH!! Definitely not OC MATERIAL!!

This past Sunday, I came in with my daughter, who was really craving a steak. She ordered it medium, but it came out a little more well-done than expected. What impressed me most wasn't the mistake, but how it was handled. Our server, Jenny, was attentive, thoughtful, and genuinely cared about our experience. We never asked for the steak to be removed from the bill, but Jenny and the manager took the initiative to make it right and comped it because it didn't meet their standards. That level of customer service is becoming rare, and it really stood out. My burger was absolutely delicious, the rest of the food was excellent, and Jenny even brought my tea in a to-go cup without me having to ask. It's not always the big things that make a difference it's the little details that show a restaurant truly cares about its guests. Thank you, Jenny, and the entire team, for another wonderful experience. Great food, outstanding service, and a team that goes above and beyond. The waitress serving our section seemed slightly disinterested in everything that was going on. Not necessarily a bad thing but she didn't do much to set herself apart. We tried the burger and the steak sandwich and the truffle fries. The burger was perfectly cooked, and it lasted like over charcoal or charbroiled. It was almost a perfect burger except that by the end the garlic flavor (tasted real and fresh - not powdered) was a bit overwhelming for my palette. The combo with the red onions (also potent) made for an intense experience, and the first bite was sublime. The steak sandwich was seasoned similarly and presented like a close cousin of the burger, with similar toppings and flavor profile. The fries were unremarkable both straight and Parmesan truffled. For the price I want blown away. I have had burgers and sandwiches of similar quality for 60% of the mid $20s we paid for these two dishes. Overall, this is an excellent spot for a small group with diverse tastes, there will be something for everyone, and it's just upscale enough (matching its Fashion Island surroundings) to be worthy of a date night or professional meetup over lunch if you work in Newport Center as well.

The shrimp fried rice was a generous portion (all entrées here seem to be), and the packaged sauces are worth liberally spreading out. Fresh and cooked perfectly, the shrimp elevated the old standby. Also exceptional is the Crying Tiger beef, which is perfectly cooked medium rare, and sliced on the bias for a nice presentation, even in the to-go packaging, which is top-notch as well. The Pad Sey Ew noodles with chicken was also outstanding, and collectively, it was enough for two meals. It was expensive, the wait was long, and the portions were surprisingly small. The Crying Tiger was nearly flavorless and looked more like a one-bite appetizer than a full dish. The mango sticky rice came with extremely sour mango, while the coconut sauce seemed to have forgotten it was supposed to taste like coconut. The Tom Yum pot was so tiny that I almost expected it to come with a magnifying glass. Other Thai restaurants usually serve at least twice as much. The service did not improve the experience. After we had already been seated for about five minutes, the servers asked us to move to another table because the seating had not been managed properly. Overall, Hanuman Thai Eatery was overhyped, overpriced, and not worth the long wait. I would give it negative five stars if Yelp allowed it.

So I was super excited when my friend recommended me go there for dinner. Now I had seen this place for a million years when I lived in Orange county and it had changed hands a while back. They have valet parking in the front, and because Newport Beach is severely limited in their parking choices, it's best to take advantage of that. Walking into the place, it has a wonderful, warm inviting atmosphere. The people and servers are really helpful and very warm in the front. They definitely make good suggestions, so take advantage of their expertise. We ate a bunch of stuff. From the spring rolls, to the chicken set hey, too to Coconut milk soup to crying tiger, I was absolutely stuffed by the time dessert came around. I wish they came with more than just four pieces. They are almost like pot pie wontons. We also ordered the three dips. Only one was edible. The hummus was so salty that we couldn't even eat that. Then there was a plain yogurt, which was boring. Lastly, there was the tzatziki, which was good. It came with flatbread and carrots and was beautifully presented. We also ordered the garlic meatballs. The meatballs had no flavor. They were covered in cheese and sauce and then there was a head of garlic on top. The garlic was cooked down too much so you couldn't get any garlic flavor. I would not order this again. We also got the chicken nuggets because they were popular, but honestly, they just tasted like deep fried overly cooked chicken nuggets. I would not order this again. Lastly, we got the wedge salad.
