I wouldn't call this Vietnamese food. We ordered multiple dishes and all were just a "no". I am drinking the Vietnamese coffee and it's drinkable --I'm thirsty. I had the combo banh mi -- Gross. My absolute favorite noodle soup in Newport. I get the lemongrass chicken every time. It's gluten free and yummy. I also love that the noodles come separate so if I'm not going to finish the whole bowl I can save them for later and they won't get soggy. read more

Pork Belly Bun Slider ($5.95): Better than the grilled pork slider but was just okay. Grilled Pork Bun Slider ($5.75): The grilled pork was very dry. For both sliders, they gave a lot of carrots which I liked but they were lacking all the Vietnamese flavors. The buns were soft though. 420 Downtowner Special ($10.25): We were both so disappointed when we tried this. The presentation was nice but the taste was mid. I had quite a bit of bahnmi and they weren't as impressively as flavored as this one. I enjoy a good Vietnamese restaurant but when I stopped in I didn't get any food. It was a warm Spring day so I opted for one of their limeades. They have them in the bubbler so I chose the mango passionfruit one. It was delightful albeit a tad sweet. It's a good thing they pack with full with ice so it can mellow out. We used to go here often in 2018-2019, but haven't been back until January. We came in at 3:30 PM, which is a slow time of day. We came in and ordered a pho, chicken wings, green rice, and a couple pork bao. The food came reasonably quickly, and overall was very good. The wings were fantastic, by far my favorite. The only reason this place is getting 2 STARS is because the service sucks and they greedy with chili oil!! We order our food and tell me why did the guest after us received their food before us. This is my second time at the this location and the food hits every time. We got the 420 green rice, chicken pho and the shrimp and avocado spring rolls. The 420 green rice is my favorite dish from this restaurant - which has shredded marinated chicken on a bed of cilantro rice. I like to pair this with sriracha. The chicken pho and avocado spring rolls were also pretty good. Very disappointed! Tried Saigon Beach for the very first time, yesterday and I will never be back here again. As soon as I walked in, no one was at the front and waited about 15 min until someone finally came out. Young lady that came out, greeted and gave me a slight attitude but I paid no mind to it. She was prob not having the best day but showing customers attitude is not very nice. I ordered a Bánh Mi combo sandwich, Nam Nam Wings and Pork Loaded Fries. When the young lady was making my sandwich, it was very unsanitary. She put a pair of gloves on and she placed the bread on the hot stove/flat. As she waited for the bread to heat, she started touching fridge handles, touching surfaces with the same pair of gloves. Grabbing raw wings to place in the fryer. Not once did she change those gloves. So this is very unsanitary. Once she was almost done making my order a young man came out, he started helping her to complete the order. He was wearing AirPods and I saw he removed his AirPods as customers arrived. As soon as customers placed an order he took off his AirPods and didn't even washed his hands. He went straight to the kitchen and started touching food! They honestly don't seem to care here. So if you gonna eat here, be careful. A must try if you're in the area! No wonder this place has won awards multiple years in a row; it's absolutely delicious. This small restaurant is easy to miss with everything that goes on in Newport Beach, but don't overlook it! I was surprised to see this place empty on a Saturday afternoon. The quality of the food was amazing. I loved the steamed buns that I got. My personal favorite was the pork belly bun. It was packed with flavor and such a bargain. I loved the way that the pork belly melted in my mouth and the freshness of the pickled vegetable. It can get a little messy, but it's so worth it. It also lacked the traditional spices you taste in a good pho broth like the star anise and ginger. However, I do know that they are serving a non-Asian population and so the flavors have been adjusted to the audience. There was street parking close by but it cost money , this place does not have outdoor seating areas and the indoor seating is really limited ( less than 10 seats) There were two different groups of people sitting inside when we arrived, the staff didn't even clean the table after those people left, you can tell from the pictures in below, the table was dusty and sticky. This place is a little pricey, the Grilled Pork SpringRolls were really good, I loved the sauce a lot but the Pork Belly Crazy Rich 'Bao' Steamed Bun Slider is really small and the meat was so dry, and the drink was really disappointing too, there was more ice than there was drink, and I couldn't taste any lemon flavor in it...
