(Dined 06/07/25 SA @ 8:00pm): Some rocking Thai food in Eagle Rock! A longtime dear friend and I caught up with each other at Thai Eagle Rox. Neither of us have eaten here, so we were both excited to try it since we loved Thai food, and it was near her church. I could eat this cuisine every day because it was so varied depending on the region of the country, it was fairly healthy, and usually quite affordable. Would their Thai food rock us in a good way!? PURCHASE Boon Raid Brewery Singha Pale Lager Beer 5.0% ABV 11.2floz Bottle ($6.00): Amber honey color, honey malt aroma, low body, light malty flavor, clean effervescent finish, and a light malty sweet aftertaste. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&select=eTEFt9hmGGjmCNT7okvcFw Thai Beverage PLC Chang Classic Pale Lager Beer 5.0% ABV 11.2floz Bottle ($6.00): Amber honey color, honey malt aroma, low body, light malty flavor, clean smooth finish, and a light malty sweet aftertaste. Probably my favorite Thai beer! https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&select=0A6sweoxFTHJzdmjV0a37w Grupo Modelo Modelo Especial Lager Beer 4.5% ABV 12floz Bottle ($6.00): A favorite Mexican beer of mine, my friend was throwing this one back! Tom Yum Soup w/Chicken Pot ($14.95): A spicy lemongrass soup filled with mushrooms and cilantro and your choice of chicken, tofu, or vegetables, we opted for chicken which was a first for me (I've always had it with shrimp which would've been $2.00 extra). The portion size was good, there was a ton of chicken strips and bobbing mushrooms with noticeable spiciness but not enough to clear my nasal cavity. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&select=dnFAWKS7ZaXQID21J0lDMw Pad Se Ew w/Vegetables ($14.95): Made with flat rice noodles, pad se ew sauce, egg, and broccoli, we opted for a mixed vegetable version of this which was another first for me. The portion size was good; however, there wasn't much flavor nor spiciness, so it kind of fell "flat". https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&select=Rf1zuIfi4_lxjMqWLkHM4g Pineapple Shrimp And Chicken Fried Rice ($16.95): Made along with curry spices, onions, raisins, cashews, egg, and green bell peppers, there were plenty of sweet pineapple chunks, a decent amount of shrimp, and minimal but big chicken pieces. The portion size was decent, but again, there wasn't enough distinct flavor or spiciness. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&select=qkVTnKenNRI-tzjgKa-xPw 3pc BBQ Pork Ribs ($15.95): Marinated pork ribs smothered in a slightly tangy BBQ sauce on a bed of broccoli, each rib was equally fatty and meaty which I loved. Although the meat fell off the bone, it was a tad dry while the broccoli soaked up the sauce. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&select=iDF8YnOgcNbu1tVvHsMakQ SERVICE I was greeted by a man and woman behind the counter as I approached them. The woman allowed me to pick an open table (I took one next to a front window so I could watch for my friend) and handed me menus and two glasses of water while I waited. Once my friend arrived, our female server waited patiently until we finally placed our order nearly twenty minutes later - sorry! Soon enough, everything came out in procession within ten minutes. She checked in on us periodically, boxed our leftovers, and never made us feel rushed. Thank you for your patience! PARKING (FREE) I found parking on a nearby residential side street. Otherwise, it was either along the main drag of York Blvd. or other side streets (please read all posted signs) - 'nuff said. ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE A simple layout with a comfortable interior filled with several tables, a counter that looked into the kitchen, plenty of cultural decorations https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=0&select=Ux6bnbPlK9LJGDo4EPB93g throughout, and a side outdoor patio area. Plenty of natural lighting came through the front door and windows while ample electric ceiling lights filled in the rest. I didn't notice any TVs while pop music played in the background. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=0&select=C9iy3XHGlkwD37j_jV_qKQ ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. OVERALL Thai Eagle Rox was good, and I would probably try them again. However, they needed to increase the flavor and spiciness of their dishes. The menu was varied enough, the prices comparable, and the service was kind. Plus, whenever possible, I loved to support a local small business. I found very good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $89.00 BEFORE any discounts/tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice... The kid wanted a friend egg.

The jolly Italian giant (aka my nephew) came over the other day and surprise, surprise...he was hungry! He knows his aunt doesn't cook, so it was Grubhub to the rescue. The kid wanted Thai, so we decided to give this place a try. I let him pick what he wanted, and he ordered: Pad Thai, Pad Se Ew, & the Rox Sampler, which consisted of Fried Shrimp, Shrimp Rolls, Veggie Egg Rolls, and Crab & Cream Cheese Rangoons. He was considerate and requested both noodle dishes without meat. It was my first time having Pad Se Ew. The sauce gave it a nice flavor, and I liked the flat rice noodles. They were soft but not mushy. I haven't had Pad Thai in years, and this hit the spot. Everything in the Rox Sampler was perfectly fried, crispy, and not greasy. We both enjoyed our meal and would order from here again.

Thai Eagle Rox is a neighborhood favorite that never disappoints. The food is consistently delicious, portions are generous, and the service is always warm and friendly. I ordered the Pad See Ew and it was spot on--perfectly chewy noodles with a rich, smoky flavor. The green curry is another must-try: creamy, spicy, and loaded with fresh veggies and tender meat. You can really taste the care that goes into every dish. The restaurant has a relaxed, cozy vibe and is great for both dine-in and takeout. It's also one of the few places that's open a bit later, which is super convenient. If you're in the Eagle Rock area and craving Thai, Thai Eagle Rox should be at the top of your list. Great flavors, fair prices, and a welcoming atmosphere--can't ask for more!

I liked it. Nice little neighborhood Thai spot. Inside is simple with tasteful Thai decorations. A few tables but also a small side patio with additional seating. My friends and I came in for dinner and got the spicy garlic wings. They have a nice crunch. The spicy comes from the chili sauce. Was craving fried rice and got the combination fried rice and that really hit the spot. Also got the yellow curry, a good reliable choice. Will definitely be coming back to try more. Service was good. Friendly staff. There's street parking but you might have to walk a block or two.

I've been coming here for probably twenty years or more. The food is amazingly delicious as always. Everyone has been very nice since day one. I will forever come here to eat with my family and friends.

Food was good but bummed there was a piece of plastic in my food. When i called they wouldn't give me a refund unless i drove the 5 miles back to return the food?? Like why would i lie. I've come here for years and am very disappointed with their response to my phone call / over all situation

    Orange Chicken Entree

Hair in our food. Unfortunately in the orange chicken. Spent $102 on DoorDash. We stopped eating the food. The orange chicken is fried too crispy and the orange sauce given on the side. Not tasty at all. Small crunchy pieces of chicken. Along with hair

I paid an extra $2.00 for mushrooms. Her response was, they have it already portioned. This is not $2.00 worth of mushrooms. I'm glad the Thai place up the street is opening up soon. Did I mention this was $21.85 WITHOUT steam rice. OVER PRICED FOR NO REASON. It's not worth it.

The food is great and very authentic. I highly recommend coming in this place. Also the staff is very friendly and what can I say? The ambience is traditional from Thailand. If you're an Eagle rock, give it a go. My girlfriend love the coconut soup. She raved about it and is taking it home for lunch tomorrow also, they're dumplings are great and the fried rice with chicken was amazing.

    Orange Chicken Entree

Im not the one to write a review but I feel like I was being punked when I saw the orange chicken. It was 99% fried breaded batter and 1% chicken. What a shame because I was excited to try this new place out. The only thing I enjoyed was the Thai iced tea.

We had two orders of slippery shrimp, kung pao chicken, eggplants with hot and spicy garlic sauce, juicy steamed dumplings, and pork fried rice. Overall, both restaurants in Chinatown and Pasadena provide great food quality. The ambience was cozy with dim lighting. Our round table had a wooden rotating tray. They have pictures of celebrities and politicians who've visited their restaurant. Service was relatively quick, but there was a 20-minute wait for the dumplings. Valet parking can get difficult when the lot gets full. A few cars entering the narrow driveway had to reverse out of the way to let others leave. The kung pao chicken was very tasty with a good amount of spice. I noticed that the slippery shrimp didn't taste as spicy as the portion from Pasadena. Reviews say that the spice is adjustable. Regardless. it tasted great as it came right off the pan. The pork fried rice was delicious with a savory flavor that didn't seem overpowering. I thought the juicy steamed dumplings were the weakest dish out of our whole order. There wasn't enough flavor and heat from the broth. I didn't try much of the eggplants, but they tasted adequate for me.

The menu is New American with Chinese influences served as a four-course prix fixe set, with each course having three choices, and optional additions are available. (There is an à la carte menu available in the bar area.) I went very carnivorous on my selections, choosing the beef tongue carpaccio, duck sausage, and beef short rib. There was not a bad dish among these: The tongue was tender, soft, and delicate. The duck sausage was fantastically good as well; served with an apple jam atop Swiss chard, it was a sort of Chinese-Alpine fusion cuisine of which I never envisioned but instantly wanted more. While delicious, the short rib was overshadowed by its cabbage accompaniment. My server told me it takes four days to make that dish, and I would have happily ordered a full dish of just that. The kaffir lime curd dessert was light and balanced, perfect after the heavier meat courses and like a small vacation to Thailand on a plate. The one dish I did not love was the Chongqing fried chicken course I added. The chicken itself ― a boneless leg quarter ― was a large portion and well-prepared, but the sauce covering it was a thick layer of chilis (which, thankfully, were not inedibly hot) and straight oil, lots of oil. Eating so much oil like that made for gastrointestinal discomfort the rest of the night. The soy pickles helped cut the greasiness a bit, but they weren't vinegary enough to get that level of oiliness off the palate. The duck fat rice, though quite good, also did not help much given its fattiness. Given the chance, I definitely would have requested the oil-sauce on the side. I did appreciate the crunchiness of the batter, which never went soggy despite being soaked in that oily puddle for a long time. I did not find any wines by the glass that bowled me over, so I stuck to cocktails, which were good. Service was warm, personable but not intrusive, and brisk, while the room has the comfortable feel of a mid-century modern den complete with well-worn cookbooks on the shelves lining the walls. I would happily return to try the bar menu with cocktails or when the prix fixe options change.
