    Mango sticky rice...a definite order!
    Janet M.

I have passed by this small restaurant several times in the past but never tried it until one of my girlfriends suggested this place for dinner. The inside area is small but can sit a decent amount of people. They also have outdoor seating but it was cold for us to be outside. We ordered: Tom Yung Gong with shrimp. I prefer the Tom Kha Kai soup but my girlfriend wanted this so why not. The flavor was good and had a lot of shrimp in it. We ordered just 1 entree of Garlic and Pepper Beef which was flavorful. Then we had to have the mango sticky rice which was one of the best that Ive had. You have the option to get the white or purple rice which we opt for the purple rice. The mango was really sweet. The serving here is decent. The price is reasonable and very comparable with other Thai restaurants in the area. Parking is the only issue as they do have a small lot at the back but other than that, its street parking. Luckily, we didnt have any issues finding a parking spot. I will definitely be back here in the future.

Located right on Colorado Bl in Eagle Rock . This really great Thai place looks like a house with an inviting patio. I mention the patio because after you park, that your first impression and it's really cute. Once inside there are 7 tables.. There are plenty of Thai dishes and I always enjoy ordering off the chalk board ( specials) I ordered the Tom ka chicken and it was one of the best I've tried. I did have them bring the heat level to medium. It wasn't hot just a tad spicy , I suppose I could have gotten the hot. Just better to be safe I am sure that it would get crowded so reservations are recommended. There is parking in the rear of the restaurant and some street parking, that's your heads up. Other than that Bon Apitite

It's ok. It has a nice little front patio with a few tables. The inside was simply decored with a few tables. Good place for small groups. I got my food to go though. I got the shrimp pad Thai. The noodles were ok but the shrimp was a little on the dry side. Also got the tom kha soup and I liked that. Very flavorful with lots of chicken and mushrooms. I asked for medium spicy but it seemed mild to my taste. Overall it's ok, I'd be willing to come back and try more. Service was good. Friendly staff. There's a few parking spaces behind the building, otherwise there's street parking but you might have to walk a block or two.

Supreme Pad Thai (w/crispy chicken) so good!
    Jay S.

Don't know why it's taken me so long to eat here. Classic Thai is amazingly delicious and I would consider it to be one of Eagle Rocks best Thai restaurants. It's a cute little homey restaurant tucked within the various businesses on Colorado blvd. Ordered the Supreme Pad Thai which has crispy fried chicken. OMG it's like 2 dishes in one. The pad Thai was so flavorful and the crispy chicken was so good. Also ordered the spicy fish in curry sauce which was also great. Used the curry sauce to dip my crispy chicken in to make it a 3rd dish. This will likely be my new go to spot for Thai food. Highly recommend if you're in the area.

I've lived in Eagle Rock half my life and passed by this place a bazillion times and have yet to try - finally a couple days ago, my fiance and I was not in the mood to cook so we asked Pops, what he wanted for dinner, he said Thai Food - We all agreed, Thai it is! Having tried and enjoyed many Thai places in our area (which often times we stick to one that we know is good and a family favorite), We decided to deviate and try Classic Thai this time, devoiding ourselves of someone's opinion by ignoring reviews here on yelp and eliminating the mystery and wondering of whether the place is good or not - we opted to try it for ourselves. The place is actually quiet charming, nestled right next to a clinic and my favorite French Restaurant in Eagle Rock, their lovely little outdoor setup makes their restaurant look like a quaint cottage, right along Colorado Blvd. Since we're going for an early dinner and the stretch of Colorado is hitting major after work traffic, we opted to sit inside - less road noise, dust and cigarette smoke billowing from the bus stop a few steps outside their patio. We were greeted by a very friendly lady who told us we have whichever table we want since the evening patrons have yet to arrive, found a comfy spot for us three and glanced through the menu book and sure enough, no longer than 5 minutes, we knew what we want. We started with the: SHRIMP WONTON WRAP - Six delicious deep fried cigars of shrimp and ground chicken wrapped in wonton, fried to golden crunchiness, serve with a sweet plum sauce-like dip and a side of sweet pickled onion and cucumber salad. We all enjoyed this crunchy and yummy palate waker-upper! TOM YUM SHRIMP - Lovely broth! a perfect balance of sour, sweet and savory, seasoned beautifully and loaded with mushroom and shrimps! The fresh lemon grass and herbs gives this soup such a fresh take while the heat (spice) level can truly clear out the pores in your face when ordered Thai Spice like we did (We LOVED it!) GREEN CURRY - We all loved their green curry (Thai spice), a rich blend of spice and creaminess, the richness of the coconut cream marries delightfully with sliced eggplants, bamboo shoots and chicken. We ordered it Thai spice (really spicy) it was divine! serve it on top of plain or fried rice - I promise you won't regret it! THAI FRIED RICE - A meal on its own! Deliciously seasoned and goes well with all the dish, it has a generous amount of meat and of generous serving! We all loved it especially with the Green Curry! PAD SEE EW - This delicious noodles sauteed in seasonings and black soy sauce served with scrambled eggs, broccoli and thinly sliced beef was a hit with my fiance, I enjoyed it too and so did Pops, eat it while it's hot, this wide rice noodles will just glide down the food pipe lol and of course the - PAD THAI - I have to say, their Pad Thai is one of the best I had here in Eagle Rock! lord knows there are several Thai Resto's in our area and I have tried most if not all of them - We ordered the combination Pad Thai (chicken, beef & shrimp - Thai spice), needless to say this dish truly hit all the marks off our Thai cravings for the evening! Overall, we were truly satisfied and happy with our first visit at Classic Thai, the food was the star of this experience and absolutely did not disappoint! The service was expedient and friendly with indoor dinning setup that is simple and non-pretentious which helped them avert the tacky dust collectors that some of their counterparts persistently decorate their walls. Great Food, Friendly Service, Clean location - a well deserved 5 stars!

Might have to save room for Mango Sticky Rice-Purple!
    Renee D.

Tis the season for pumpkin curry! Lots of flavor and plenty to share with 3 people when ordering multiple dishes. We also had the standard Pad Thai. The Angel wings were just OK. I like the crispy deep fried texture, but the flavor was missing something to make it WOW. We did save room for the mango sticky rice with purple rice. It was very good, but I was full and probably didn't need any more to eat. The mango was fresh and ripe and the presentation was lovely. We sat inside by the window, there were a few other tables of guests. One party opted for the patio dining, but with the current end of summer mosquitos, the staff recommended sitting inside. But if you have a dog, and want to dine al fresco, it's a nice outdoor space.

I love this place! clean and great service, most of the time is quiet so its amazing for lunch and enjoy your alone time I love the tom kah kai i come every time im close by yeah maybe once or twice food has not been the best but theres no point on leaving a bad review for it, instead I will let people know the great place Classic thai is!!!

    Pad Thai
    Amber Y.

It's a nice selection of food here. However, the choice I ending up getting was the Pad Thai with chicken. It was my second choice after my first choice of garlic paper wasn't great. However, my second choice was on the super sweet side. But if that's what you'll like then this is a safe choice to have. But my first choice was the garlic & pepper chicken special and it wasn't that great and the host changed my order to pad Thai. The service was 5/10. I sat outside in the patio area and it was a nice day to sit outside and they have a small pond with fish which is kinda cute. The host was nice and changed my meal since the first option wasn't great and I thank her for that. My thoughts on the food is average and that's why I gave a 3/5 stars maybe I should've tried something else outside of the two items I had but overall thank you all for your service & kindness.

    Ross W.

The interior is small with 5 or 6 tables while the patio seems larger. We ordered Fresh Spring Rolls (not fried). The taste was fine, but they needed to be wrapped more tightly. You can't even pick it up without it falling apart. Pad Woon Sen was good. I liked the Omelette even though it did not come with rice. You have to order rice separately. There are so many Thai restaurants, so this one does not stand out. However, if you are in the area, it is a decent choice. Service was pleasant.

    Receipt

We have been here many times, and pretty much every time we went here, we were getting green curry, and this time, we did not enjoy them. We both felt that there were less spices (that are naturally derived from the bell peppers and herbs), and curry was in general watery. Curry was very flavorless. We were fine with the price change. It would have been fine if the place kept the quality of food. Price went up, but the quality dropped.

The waitress was taking our orders and what surprised me was with my co-worker ordered the pad see ew and the waitress asked her how spicy she wants it. I was aw shocked. I'm not a Thai food expert but I do know pad see ew is a noodles dish that's offers a sweet soy sauce flavor. Never served spicy. I didn't get to try the dish but when I asked my co worker how it taste she said it was spicy and not sweet at all. I'm not sure that was an authentic pad see ew. I ordered from the lunch menu and got the tumeric chicken, with steamed vegetables and paid extra $7 to substitute for a papaya salad. I asked for #2 spice level but it was not spicy at all. Other co workers said they asked for medium but it was way too spicy. So it looks like their spicy levels are inconsistent. I'm not sure how this restaurant can justify the prices with the quality they are serving. Probably won't be back. Service was mediocre. Didn't offer to refill our waters. At the end I apologized and she was like "it's ok, next time." And she was genuinely fine with it. She reassured me not to worry about it. I ordered Pad Thai with tofu- I like to order peanut sauce on the side and the woman found it interesting and struck a non judgmental conversion about it. I could really tell she was genuinely curious. This was my favorite dish. It was good. I also ordered spicy fried rice with tofu and spicy panang curry with vegetables. I chose 4 out of a 6 for spicy and it was not spicy at all for me. The rice was fine, nothing extraordinary and nothing bad. The panang curry was yummy. I don't know if it's regional but it was very light in taste and light in thickness. BUT I enjoyed it for what it was. Felt like I had gotten home made chicken soup or something like that comforting and not overly processed. Maybe it's because I ordered it with no protein and just vegetables. I ordered a lot of food so I explained to her that I was going to eat some and take the rest to go. When she brought the food she brought it nicely packed without a bag. She also made sure to say "take your time, no need to rush. We close at 8" and it was 5pm. Again, it felt genuinely nurturing, she wanted to make sure I felt taken care of and welcomed. It meant a lot because I was frazzled from forgetting my wallet and from having a hard day at work. This was my first time here and it won't be my last. There is a small lot on site. This place is by far my favorite Thai restaurant and that's why it's so disheartening to write this…read morereview. I have written at least 2 glowing reviews of the restaurant in the past and wish this could be one of them, but it's not. Over the last 4-5 days I have tried no less than 2 dozen times to call the restaurant during proper business hours to order food for pick-up as I often do. The phone rang and rang to no avail. I live too far from the restaurant to just pop up and place an order so I rely on calling ahead. I have been a customer of this restaurant for at least the last 9 years and have almost never had the aforementioned experience. Though I do recall not being able to get a call through several times on one or two occasions in the relatively distant past. Today I was finally able to get a call through and began placing my order which includes shrimp. I ALWAYS request the tail (with shells) to be removed from the shrimp as I find it quite difficult to enjoy my meal if I'm constantly having to pick off shells with my hands. It's unsanitary and messy. Removing the tails from 15-20 shrimp prior to adding to an entree or soup should take no more than 60 seconds and that's if one is moving at a glacial pace. However, today I was told that the kitchen was too busy to honor my request. I assured the lady taking my order than I was a loyal customer and make this request will every order I place and it is always honored. She repeated her claim that the kitchen was too busy and refused to do it. I cancelled my order and ended the call. Now I usually order food from the restaurant 4-5 times a month and usually spend about $65 each time not including tip. That is approximately $325 per month of my hard earned money that I give to this restaurant in exchange for great food and service. I am appalled and quite upset that having been a loyal customer for almost a decade and spending as much money there as I do per month that they could at least honor my patronage by simply taking an additional 60 seconds in the kitchen to make my meal more enjoyable. Her refusal to do such a minuscule task has deeply soured my experience with Hoy-Ka not to mention the fact that I could not reach the restaurant for almost a week by phone for no apparent reason. I will not be going back to this restaurant until they rectify this situation.

My friends and I came here right after watching a show at the Pantages Theater. We were so…read morefortunate to walk into a good number of empty tables so we didn't have to wait. However, as we were wrapping our dinner, all the tables were filled and we felt a bit of a push to hurry up to pay and leave. The waiter didn't say anything to push us to leave, but when you see them giving you the bill before you could finish your food or ask for it, you feel a bit pressured to eat faster. The three of us opted for family style and ordered four entrees and a side of white rice to share. We ordered the stir fried crispy catfish, the sautéed morning glory, the shrimp salad, and the pad kee mao with chicken. The total came out to be about $33.28 per person including tax and 20% tip. The parking situation in that plaza was a nightmare. There were cars honking and almost hitting the cars in the front or in the back. I don't live anywhere near Hollywood, but if I do come to see a show at the Pantages Theater in the future, I'll make sure to swing by again.

They did have a shorter special menu for the festival time (likely to make it easier for the kitchen) and it made ordering super fast and easy. Service was polite and quick!
