Hot and spicy noodle, glass noodle, curry
Rochelle C.

This is a "value" joint and not recommended for "authentic Thai food". 5 stars for being tasty and good value; you get what you pay for! A good place for those who are hungry but not picky like me. I was very impressed with the portions for the price paid. I've never received food as packed as these takeout containers before!! I ordered the "spicy noodles lunch special" which came with with a spring roll. It had lots of veggies and soya sauce base. Just as the name says, it's spicy noodles. Simple and not much else to describe it. "Glass noodles" this was another dish that I ordered only because I didn't know what it was. It's a bit sweet, spicy, and soya sauce based? I feel like it was a "healthy" noodle. It's another simple but addictive dish. The curry is their house recommended dish. It was also tasty... a lot more curry than needed for the rice it came with. Overall, I think this restaurant has a "westernized" style. Simple flavours, not too complex or overly flavourful. Reminds me of quick 20 minute dinners made at home. Especially because it's loaded with different veggies, good portion of meat, and lacks "restaurant style" oil and salt.

ordered it here from ubereats and was happy with the packaging and flavoured. Really happy with the mango salad, it was delicious. The pad thai was a large serving for one but it was yummy! I was happy to have all the left over for two days.

Ordered from Thai Elephant through Uber Eats after our order was cancelled from another Thai place. They were able to fill our order within less than an hour. The run down: Chicken pad thai: -the takeout container was packed -the pad thai was very sweet and had very little in it except noodles, some tofu, sauce and chicken. Chicken penang: - expected there to be more vegetables in addition to sauce and chicken -served purple rice with this dish Spring rolls: -good size -packed with bean sprouts and veggies Overall okay food for decent prices but unfortunately I can't see myself ordering food from here again when the food was just "meh".

The food was absolutely incredible and it worked wonders for my upset stomach! The service was outstanding, and they were incredibly accommodating. I'm so excited to come back and enjoy this hidden gem once more!

Cute quiet place on queen street west. Ordered the massamam curry with chicken. It was so delicious , flavourful and rich w coconut milk. It wasn't spicy at all. I liked how it came with rice noodles (or purple brown rice). I was definitely full after eating 3/4 of it! Portion sizes are pretty good for the price ($16-17). My friend also ordered the massamam curry with beef and he said it was tasty. Even he took some home as leftovers. Another friend ordered the bbq beef with mango salad and sticky rice. She said it was delicious! Portions are big as it comes out on a big plate. Ask for shredded coconut on top of the sticky rice! Makes a big difference. Coconut soup with mushrooms was good. Mango salad was okay. Service was great! Highly recommend the massamam curry :)

Ordered on Uber eats. Came quickly. Ordered the pad Thai-veggie. The pad Thai was so shit. No proper traditional pad Thai ingredients. 2 pieces of tofu. Tasted like a sweet sauce was used. The veggie spring rolls were garbage also. Don't order from here! The food is NOT good at all.

Had a weird surprise in my chicken pad Thai: tofu?! They put tofu in my chicken pad Thai and I didn't see anywhere that they would tofu in it. I thought the pad Thai had lots of sugar and salt in it and tasted pretty heavy. It was a quick delivery and a very average pad Thai. I would give them another chance but if you have allergies, be extremely careful because they might put something you're allergic to (given that I had tofu in my order, who knows what they would put in other orders)

It is more like a 3.5 stars. This place is an OK place to have Thai food. It is not in downtown, but you can walk there in the summer. However, I would suggest that you order food "to go." For dining in, I find the place too small, looking too much as a food court stand. Maybe it is just my impression, the prices are not very high, so maybe we have to balance somehow, but I don't enjoy dining in this place. The food is good. It is not exceptional, not fantastic, but good enough. I would give 4 stars for the food alone so it would average at 3.5 stars. I have tried the curries and the Pad Thai and they are all good. I will order from this place in the future and update my review as I tried other dishes.

One of my favourite little whole in the wall place to come have lunch. It's quality food with amazing service and it doesn't create a dent in your wallet. Their lunch menu it's yummy. For $10 +tax, you get a spring roll and a filling dish to accompany it from their menu. Or just pick whatever you want. Spicy means spicy which is a bonus.

The restaurant has a lot of smaller tables, making it feel cozy, and the service was super friendly. I ordered the dry boat noodles with egg noodles and they were so good. The side of broth was absolutely amazing and honestly one of the best parts of the meal. Rich, flavorful, and so comforting. I kept alternating between bites of noodles and sips of broth. There was chili oil on the table, and I definitely got a little carried away. It was seriously spicy, but somehow I couldn't stop eating. My mouth was on fire, but every bite made me want another. Even after leaving, I kept thinking about those noodles. I also liked that there are several noodle options to choose from depending on what texture you're craving. Between the delicious food, great broth, and kind service, this is definitely a spot I'd come back to again.

I went during the summer, and there was no air conditioning so it was pretty hot inside. However, the food was amazing. For the beef noodles, the meat was tender. The soup is rich and authentic, with the perfect balance of spice; however the portion was a bit small. I also tried the fried dumplings, it's flavorful, but the skin was a bit thick. The Thai tea was average, a little bit too sweet for me. Overall, I still like this restaurant, and will definitely come back again.

I'm definitely coming back here!…read more We ordered the Tapioca dumplings, the beef messemen curry, and the mango and purple sticky rice. Wow! It was all so tasty. The tapioca dumplings are unlike anything I've tasted before. They serve it with a side of lettuce, mint and peanuts. I liked the dumplings better without the sides they served! The lettuce and other add ons dim the flavors of the dumplings. So I prefer just eating the dumplings straight on. The Messemen curry was so flavorful and the beef was so tender! I'm a big fan. If you're a fan of Thai curries then you'll definitely like this! The Mango purple sticky rice dessert was also really tasty! It had a tasty coconut sorbet and it all went really well together. Service was good, food came out quickly, vibes were good. No complaints here!

Unfortunately, the day took an unexpected turn when I had to go to the hospital, and for a while I thought I wouldn't make it at all. As a testament to both the kindness of my friends and the exceptional staff at Lao Lao, they were able to accommodate us even though I arrived nearly two hours late on a busy Saturday evening. Originally, our table was only reserved until 8:00 p.m.--the exact time I finally arrived. Thankfully, with the help of our incredible server, Savanna N., everything worked out. Her professionalism, warmth, and willingness to help truly made the evening possible. More than anything, I hoped the wait would be worthwhile for my friends, who were visiting for the first time. I'm happy to say they absolutely loved it--especially the outstanding hospitality and customer service. A huge thank you to Savanna and the entire team for making us feel so welcome. As for the food, every dish was delicious. Nothing disappointed. The papaya salad was such a hit that we ordered it twice. The Beef Massaman Curry, Crispy Lao Spiced Chips, Banana Leaf Steamed Fish, and the seasonal Vermicelli Noodle in Chicken Coconut Red Curry were all exceptional. Although it had been about a year since my last visit, I was delighted to see that Lao Lao remains consistently excellent in its food, quality, and service. Bravo!

I eat pad Thai in every city I visit and this may be the best yet since I first had pad Thai in college many many years ago. Been chasing that epic pad Thai for years and think I finally found it. Amazing depth of flavor. Partner got the Islamic noodles, which he thought were excellent as well, rich flavor and very well made. Would happily eat again. The only issue I had which made me knock off a star is that the glass and silverware had an odd scent, like the smell your glasses have if there's food stuck in your dishwasher filter -- if you know that scent you know what I mean. Just smelled funky and honestly the smell was ruining the taste (smell and taste are so closely linked) so I drank out of my own water bottle I had brought and grabbed a plastic fork to eat with which did solve the issue but still...less than ideal
