In love with this place!! We lived in Hawaii for three years and had a favorite Thai spot and nothing has lived up to it until now. It's hard to find somewhere where we live the signature dishes as well as their curries. The panang curry was amazing! The pad Thai was super juicy. The owners have been here for years and are from Thailand and try to keep the food as authentic as possible. We will be back for sure. read more

The food is inconsistent. We usually order the Pad Thai. Sometimes it comes good, but not great. Other times, the flavoring is off, and no lime wedges. Not worth $15 a plate for inconsistent food. Customer service is HORRIBLE. I give them a 0/5 for customer service. The workers are always very unfriendly. We dropped $70 on take out one day and one of the dishes was inedible. My friend tried to eat it, because we paid $15 for it, but only got 1/3 way through before he wanted to throw it away. I called the restaurant and politely asked if we could have it remade/order something different at no cost/receive a refund. The middle aged lady I spoke with, the one typically taking the phone orders and standing at the front desk, was so unbelievably rude. She refused to believe that it didn't taste good, was insulted and said to bring the food back and they will see what's wrong with it. I drove back and brought the inedible food. She looked at it and said, "You ate part of it! Why did you eat it if it no taste good? This real Thai food. It is good food!" In between our in-restaurant conversation (they had no customers), all the workers were standing around glaring at me. I respectfully said, "I'm sorry, I think your food tastes good, but my friend said he can't eat this, he doesn't think it's good." She berated me for 5 minutes, very angrily maintaining that there is nothing wrong with it, and accusing me of trying to cheat her and the restaurant. She finally agreed to give me a different dish, after shaking her finger in my face and saying she will NEVER EVER re-do a dish for me at no cost again. Meanwhile, the coworkers spoke to each other in another language while gesturing angrily at me. I got the new food, 20 minutes later, who knows how much spit was in it. Went back a couple times after that for take out, staff is still very haughty and rude. Won't be returning. Food isn't worth the price or dealing with the staff. read more

Finally tried it. Ugh. Ordered spring rolls and pad thai. Spring rolls were nothing new and the pad thai was way off. The pad thai was made with noodles no longer than an inch, like scraps at the bottom of the bag. The shrimp added to it tasted of freezer burn so I moved them off to the side. .. shallots.... I have eaten at Thai Erawan on three occasions: Both times were the carryout of red chicken curry. There was very little chicken, but plenty of bamboo shoots. The third (and final visit) was unbelievable. I ordered spring rolls and panang chicken. Showed an older woman at the register the Yelp coupon and she started smirking, told me she doesn't honor those. I asked her why not, to which she said she never heard of such a coupon. Then she told me she would give me the egg rolls for free, but only if I was dining in (which I obviously wasn't). Probably the best Thai food I have ever had... ever! The service is awesome (if you forget for a second that there are often little kids walking in and out of the kitchen, and sometimes sitting at the cash register). The staff is always really nice, and funny, as I have found most Thai people to be. I love that you get to choose how spicy your food is (though the star system is sometimes inconsistent, so be careful when you are thinking about adding another star). Usually gets super crowded for lunch, but not so much so for dinner. When I lived in the area, I probably came here to eat at least once a week.. it was one of those places that no one ever said no to (except John, which is probably only because he only ordered one thing off the menu). This place is so overrated. Terrible, almost rude service. Tasteless spring rolls. Their chicken pad Thai consisted of noodles, a few bits of shaved chicken, and, three scallion pieces. I counted. This is my favorite Thai restaurant in Hampton Roads. Quiet ambience with friendly staff at this family owned and operated restaurant. My favorite dish here is called dressing noodles. Fresh ginger, chicken, and thin rice noodles served in a flavorful broth with a fresh lemongrass taste. You can't get this fish at almost any other Thai restaurant. I heard that it comes from the Islamic people in Thailand not too far from Ayutthaya. Definitely looking forward to coming back here next time! read more

Good, flavorful Thai food with friendly service and good prices. Nicer decor than a typical storefront Thai restaurant too, so a good date spot. Thai seasoning is a bit toned down for anglo-Virginians, but all those good flavors are still there. My kids love the Pad Thai, my wife and I like the curries. read more

Was on a late night shopping venture and just happened to drive by this spot. Went in and ordered the Chicken Panang. The service was friendly and patient. My friend was having a hard time ordering something and the waiter was nice enough to recommend so dishes to her. The Panang was delicious! I've had other Panang from other Thai restaurants, but I have to admit that apart from the spots in Guam, this is the best I've had in the states so far. The portion was moderate and the price was fair. The Location is in a shopping plaza so it's not secluded.
