This place has been through like 3 different stages. When it first opened up, it was gross. The fried rice tasted like it had ketchup in it, the curry never had enough actual curry in it. Then a few years after, I discovered the pepper chicken and tiger tears salad and this began the second stage of OK Thai food. We are here every once in awhile and it wasn't bad. Nice change from other Thai food spots and had a couple of different options. Then it was hit by a tornado and closed for a while. Well, it just reopened and we are now entering the 3rd stage of Thai Express: Expensive and Slow as Fuck Era. We went in and were advised that we should just get apps, curry, soups, and salad if we wanted to not spend an hour waiting on food. With that, we ordered an app sampler, a cup of Tom yum and Tom ka, a tiger tears salad and a bowl of curry. Even though this was supposed to be faster, we still waited around 40 minutes to get the food. It was fine, don't get me wrong. Everything tasted like I remembered, but they definitely used frozen vegetable medley in their curry. We ate a bit and then got the check so we could leave. After tip, we spent over $100 for some standard, and in some instances sub par, Thai food. The tiger tears salad alone was $30! Go here if that's your thing, but for my taste there are too many reasonably priced and better quality Thai spots in town. read more

I like the food, but it's an expensive place to eat. My biggest issue is that they have been closed several times when I tried to eat there. I get kind of a "Who cares is you're our customer?" vibe, but maybe it's a cultural thing? They must be making a lot of money on their expensive food, because they're only open weekdays for 40 hours. read more

Today I had the red curry with chicken (green beans, peas, bamboo shoots, peppers, carrots). I ordered the extra hot, which was one level below the hottest "native hot." Very pleasant and not overpowering. I also had crispy veggie egg rolls. My husband had stir-fried mixed vegetables, chocked full of vegetables: bell peppers, Chinese greens, bean shoots, mushrooms, green beans, broccoli, onions, and more. One of the best Thai restaurant I ever tried. Noddles are well season, not watery like many other places. Not too salty or load with msg. Very impressed that this place exist in a little college town. Try their dessert too, I don't know if they are real authentic dessert but it is good. We wanted to eat well for lunch and literally hunted down this place in our visit to Kentucky and boy we were treated to a feast. This place will not impress you from its exterior looks. Keep in mind, Don't judge a book by its cover. The time we got into this place, there wasn't much of a crowd and that was good in a way as we were being checked and also served on time. There was this one girl who was going around like a whirlwind, taking orders, serving and also checking out the guests who had come for takeouts. The menu is pretty vast and spoils you with choice. We ordered dumplings, sriracha fried rice, red curry, ice tea and sweet rice with custard for a dessert. The taste was exemplary as much as the service of the staff. The main menu portion was sizable for three of us and the dessert was outstanding. Great to see a decent thai place in bowling green. Was driving through the town and found this gem separated from the rush and hustle of the town. The entrance can confuse you, use the one that doesnt face the road. Although i didnt dine in the place seemed neat and quiet. Well maintained for a small town! I have tried the basil fried rice which was quiet good and the spring roll was delicious! The prices aren't bad at all. I love Thai Express. A great establishment with affordable delicious food. The staff are all very friendly and helpful.

It's a neat place, with a tasteful decor. Though the seating does give away the fact that it was formerly a fast food joint. We had fried tofu and chive dumplings for starters, and washed it down with a tall glass of chilled Thai tea. Though we were almost full, we couldn't resist ordering the drunken noodles and pad mee noodles for the main course. We were surprised that they had a whole page dedicated to vegetarian dishes. For a vegetarian/vegan, this is definitely a good find in Bowling Green. read more

I am giving three stars cause the food was sadly underwhelming. But I love the fact that they have vegan options. Service was great. Location was a little odd, they sell cars in the parking lot too. We had the chive dumpling which I really loved. I could have ate like 20 of them but they only give you two for like $6 which I thought was not a good deal. At least three would have been better for the price? I ordered Penang curry and my mom ordered some coconut chicken soup. The Penang curry sauce was tasty and spicy but the vegetables we frozen previously and the mushrooms in my moms soup we from a can. Also the bean sprouts were from a can. Which I found to all be a bit gross. I would much rather prefer fresh veggies so that's why I give the food 3 stars total mostly because the dumplings were really tasty along with their house made soy sauce. We ordered Thai express for my daughters 17th birthday. We ordered over 100.00 worth of food, all different varieties and dishes. Every one was watery and not flavorful. In the past we have always loved Thai express and have recommended it to many people. We didn't even save our leftovers because they were so bad. Also, we had requested fried rice with our meals and got steamed rice instead. So disappointed I felt guilty that my daughter didn't get a better birthday meal. read more

The vegetables, rice and sauce was so very good. However the quality of the shrimp left some to be desired. I will eat there again but not try the shrimp again. Who on earth thought it was a good idea to turn Thai "Express" into a full service restaurant? I used to love eating here but ever since the students in the WKU Ad department got involved to make "improvements", it has just become more complicated. It was fine how it was. They do not need wait staff. I do not need some inexperienced college student to hand me a menu and bring me chop sticks. I have been eating at Thai express for years and have always been able to manage without a waiter just fine. Despite the place being taken over by a bunch of 19 year old ad students, the food is still the same and just as delicious; so I guess I'll just have to get takeout from now on.
