Decided to try a new Chinese restaurant. I have to start out by saying the place was clean and looked nice, staff was friendly. We ordered the crab ragoons which I will say were very good and delicious you get 10 of them so there was plenty one of the best I've had in a minute. I also ordered the sesame chicken combination meal, personally I was not a fan of the flavor of sesame chicken and also the taste of the chicken was not good to me I can't describe it. Unfortunately I only ate two pieces of chicken and decided not to eat anymore. Won't be back for the chicken but definitely for the crab ragoons. Holy terrible. Everything was extremely bland! We got three meals with some sides and "soup". The soup was just mushy rice and the what was probably chicken cut into little square pieces. I mean, it didn't make anyone sick but it was the worst Chinese food I have ever had. All four of us felt the same way. read more

Ordered sweet and sour chicken lunch. Lady at the counter was angry like most Chinese places around. Rice was tiny brown rice, not fried rice, very chewy, chicken was somewhat moist to dry breading was very... tasteless. Do not patronize this restaurant unless you love verbal abuse and mediocre food. I would give this place ZERO stars if that was possible. I just picked up an order of almond chicken, egg fu young, and SHRIMP lo mein, only to bring it home to see that I was given CHICKEN lo mein. When I called to rectify this issue, a man answered the phone and when I let him know of this mistake, he began to yell and get belligerent, gaslighting me saying that I ordered chicken lo mein, which I definitely did NOT. I ordered shrimp lo mein. He just continued to yell, repeatedly accusing me of ordering the wrong item, without offering any solutions. So incredibly rude and disrespectful. They did not give me an itemized receipt when I paid for my order. I've been going to this hidden gem for a few months now. The owners always greet me with a smile whenever I walk inside to pick up my order. Orders usually take about 15 minutes to make which is fine by me because I usually go here after I'm done with my classes at OU which is a 20-minute drive for me anyways. I often order the combination plates just for myself. Sometimes other food from the menu if my whole family is in the mood for Chinese. So far I've ordered the Almond Boneless Chicken (#8 on the menu), Sweet and Sour Chicken (#10), General Tso's Chicken (#24, my personal favorite btw. I usually order it mild), and Teriyaki Chicken (#42) combination plates. The combination plates are single-serving entrees that come with fried rice and an egg roll. They all tasted great. What's even better is when you order these combination plates between their lunch hours (11 AM-4 PM) because they have a special lunch discount price which is about $2-3 cheaper than the anytime dinner price. All in all, Wing On Chinese has good food, good prices, and good customer service. I think I'll be coming here for a long time, and I recommend you do so too or at least order here at least once. The prices have increased by over 30% in the past year or so. One lunch special has increased to $9.45 from $6.99. Also, lunch prices now stop at 3pm rather than 4pm. My purchase from the other day was not very good and had a particularly strong oil taste. I have gone many times in the past, but now will stop. I got pieces of battered fried chicken, with the sour sauce in a cup and no carrots or pineapple. This was not what I expected. I stopped in for lunch on recommendation from my neighbor. This place is mainly carry out, they do have some tables, setup nicely and clean. The menu is large, I took a seat to view the menu for a bit, no pressure to order. For myself I ordered a small Hot and Sour soup to eat in-house and a wonton to go. For my neighbor, I picked up a combo of Peking Chicken and Lemon Chicken, which came with fried rice and egg roll. I usually judge a place by their Hot and Sour soup, the flavor was spot on, it had a little tofu and bamboo shoots, I prefer a little more "guts" to my soup. Like I said, the Flavor was spot on. The Wonton soup was delish but missing greens. The broth was fresh and clean, wontons wonderful. The combo meal, my neighbor loved it. I'm not much for fried foods, but, I did taste her lunch and can say it was good. The Lemon Chicken tasted more like sweet and sour chicken. The Peking Chicken (battered fried breast) had veggies and brown Sauce underneath the fried breast. While I was there, 2 people were enjoying their lunch, one left shortly after I got there, the other had Beef and Broccoli which looked delish, I asked him how it was, he gave me two thumbs up. They have lunch specials served until 4pm. I had a lovely conversation with Jade (pronou Jay-dee) behind the counter. The owner, Kin Tam, has been in business since 1973, took specialty courses through MSU, certificates and practices in food allergies and a host of other practices. I have been going to this restaurant for nearly 35 years, even when it was located in Troy, MI. After it moved to Shelby Twp the dinners haven't tasted as good. Although, the dinners are good, they are not as great as when the restaurant was in Troy. It's the same owners, but I don't know if they changed chefs. The taste of the food is also inconsistent; some days the same dinners are better one day and not so good on other days. About 2 weeks ago I ordered 2 dinners. They tasted okay, but one of the dinners had a different smell than usual and the taste wasn't as good either. In addition to the food not tasting as good as before, their prices have gone up quite a bit. They even have a sign on the counter apologizing to their loyal customers that their prices have increased because the cost of food has gone up. I took home one of their carry-out menus and compared their prices with 7 other Chinese restaurants. With the exception of one Chinese restaurant in Rochester Hills, their prices in general were on the high side. Several of their dinners were $2-$4 higher than six of the other restaurants; example, a quart of steamed white rice is $6.50; others were charging between $3-$4. I'll go back to the restaurant just out of loyalty, but not as often. They're 9 miles away and not as convenient to get to. This mom and pop Chinese restaurant recently open in February. The owner is Kin and wife Jade been in the Chinese Restaurant business for over 25 years. I ordered the Almond Boneless Chicken dinner and the Sweet and Sour Chicken dinner. Both dinner platter were delicious. They both had white chicken Breast meat and vegetable fried rice with egg roll. Kin the owner takes pride in his craft I remember ordering orange chicken platter and the chicken wasn't crispy. I went back to Wing On and Kin replaced the meal free of charge.
