I ordered take out and it was the biggest disappointment of the week. They make all of their food as cheaply as possible; their curry was watery, their vegetables come from a bag or a freezer and taste like plastic, they only gave us one serving of rice total for two orders of curry, and they use spinach in their food instead of basil. I ordered take out here and the food was unfortunately disappointing. Tom Kah/kha soup overwhelming smelled and tasted like fish sauce with a hint of lemon grass with just a few veggies floating around. The spring rolls tasted like they are mad quite a bit in advance-- the wrapper was dry and actually split up the side of them before I had even taken a bite. The yellow curry was like watery, runny soup with scarce vegetables added. However, I will say I thought the customer service was good and it looks like a nice atmosphere inside. Pros: Good thai food for NoPo. Good portion size. Pad Khee Mao is tasty. If you order spicy it actually really is spicy! Friendly service. Cons: Wish they would use the really wide, thick rice noodles for dishes like Pad See Ew / Pad Khee Mao but they don't (more like a medium wide/medium thick noodle). It's a decent lunch take out place, with prices under 7 bucks for a number of specials. That said, the noodle dishes are often a bit greasy and the seafood and tofu often chewy and overcooked. I picked up some chicken Tom Kha Gai soup tonight and it was the perfect thing for my rotten head cold. The flavor of the broth was an excellent blend of lemon grass, cilantro, fish sauce, coconut milk and chilies. I felt so much better after eating it! Decent Thai food in NoPo. The restaurant location is nothing to write home about - nondescript strip mall location with poorly disguised fluorescent lights. The food is much more to talk about. I am a Pad See Ew conisseur, and many have been too salty, overly sauced, or too sweet with lifeless broccoli and chicken that tastes like cardboard. However, this place is tied for first with my other favorite Thai spot - Rice Thai Cookery in Milwaukie - for the absolute best Pad See Ew, hands down. The pot stickers, chicken won tons with sweet & sour chili dipping sauce, and sweet sticky rice were also fabulous. Love their Noodle Soup (#32 I think) It's like if yellow curry had a Pho soup baby with noodles instead of rice. Really good. :)

The last time I went to this restaurant was when I was a freshman at UP. Since then, the quality of the food has gone downhill. I ordered pad thai for takeout. As soon as I opened the box, the food was cold and coagulated. The portion size has also decreased. As an alternative, I would recommend Thai Cottage in St John's. read more

I love this place. My kids love this place. My very picky about Thai food, this place rocks! The pad Thai is off the hook. The shrimp was cooked perfectly. I ordered it spicy. Also Tom Kah soup was wonderful my favorite. We all love the salad rolls. Thai ice tea, yes please! Everyone that works there is super friendly. You do have to look for yourself for the specials of the day. That would be my only tip for better service. The severs forget to offer the specials. Oh.. Such a tasty surprise! After picking up my dog whom a friend of mine was dog sitting in the area, I asked for dinner recommendations to get on the way home. My friend recommended Thai Ginger and I ordered the pan friend chow mien and pas Thai for my husband. The restaurant is conveniently located on rosa parks - but looks can deceive. It's situated in a sort of three space strip mall that may seem less than ideal, but once inside - the place is so cute and atmosphere warm and friendly. The restaurant was packed which is always a good sign! They quoted a 15 min wait for pick up but I arrived early and it was already ready. Drove the food home to Beaverton and my husband and I dug in. And I mean dug in! The food was delicious, flavorful, healthy with large portions for the price. I hate to admit I'm rarely in the area - but when I am - I will definitely be returning! read more

Review your order before you leave. I placed a simple order for Golden Shrimp to go. When I got home it was coconut shrimp (and not fresh). This doesn't seem like a big deal but there has been a huge decline in service and food quality for years. The food has become inconsistent in taste and quality and there are way to many issues with wrong orders. We have been going there for probably close to 20 years. We have now crossed Thai Ginger off our list as our go-to Thai place. read more

I get take out from here often and you should too! I would put this somewhere between Americanized bucket of Thai and authentic/trendy places like Pok Pok. Prices and portion sizes are about right for the quality. Some of my favorites are: pad gai, any of the fried rices, pumpkin curry, tom kha with shrimp, and pad see ew. The curries tend to be saucy so order extra rice. You'll have lunch for a day or two. This place is above par and North Portlanders are lucky to have it in the neighborhood. read more

This has been a "go-to" takeout place for us for many years now. Although they can occasionally have a bad night (bland, not fresh) the food is typically fairly solid and flavorful. I have tried a few things on the menu with success, but typically stick with the Pad-Thai with Tofu. Large portions and some of the nicest staff. read more

I got takeout and ordered the Pork Larb and the Tom Kha with chicken. Both were ok, the soup wasn't very thick and creamy and the Larb mostly tasted of fish sauce. Vegan dishes galore! Curry's are perfectly spiced - I'd suggest Massuman or Pineapple red curry. The Pad Thai Woon Sen is amazing as well. My friend just came back from New Zealand, so we decided to have lunch somewhere nearby. Thai Ginger has never failed me in the past, so we decided to go here again. The restaurant itself is pretty tiny, so depending on when you go, you might have to wait a few minutes for a table. The parking lot is also pretty small so you might have to find parking in the neighborhood. The food here is amazing! I had the Pad Kee Mao that day, which had wide size rice noodles with egg, hot basil leaves, tomatoes, broccoli, ground chili, and bell peppers. You can make it vegetarian or choose from tofu, chicken, pork, or beef for the same price. They also have shrimp or squid for a bit more, or a seafood combo if you want both. If you like tofu, I highly recommend it! The texture was soft and squishy, just how I like it, not rubbery like how some places make it. The waiters are quick and friendly and water refills happen more than once. The only thing bad I have to say about my Pad Kee Mao is that it didn't have as many noodles as I would've liked. It instead had a lot of tofu, tomatoes, and bell peppers. Not really complaining though, because it was delicious all the same! If you're not sure about the Pad Kee Mao, I can say from experience that you can never go wrong with the Pad Thai! Some of my other favorites include the Gaeng Pa Nang Curry and the Pineapple Cashew Fried Rice. Grab a Thai iced tea and your meal is complete! I hate to give a poor rating, so I only do when I feel it's not worth going back. The environment is bland, which doesn't matter much to me. The service wasn't too friendly but helpful nonetheless. The food itself was good, nothing better than average thai if you ask me. But the problem was that there was some sort of electrical buzz that was so painfully loud it made it impossible to enjoy myself. The staff didn't say one word about it, nor did it seem to bother them, which indicated to me that it was something common for this place.
