I think we're done with this place! I've come here for a while and every time it took at least 2 hours from order to finish our meal. The only chef is also the owner's wife so she has her hands full. However, they could hire a helper instead of the husband (the owner) does everything from waiting, busting and clean up. Thai Heart is another one of my favorites in Scotts Valley. The owner is so friendly. Typical Thai food menu but their ingredients are always good and fresh. They have large servings. Their soups are to die for especially the tom yum chicken or tofu. The chicken satay is delicious and juicy. I absolutely love every single thing I have ordered here! I have a handful of regular dishes I keep in the rotation (fresh spring rolls, pineapple red curry duck, cocoanut soup, panang curry) but I always make a point of ordering a 2nd dish I have never tried. I am never ever disappointed! I am the kind of person who usually has to change it up. If I am on the mood for a certain type of cuisine, I don't usually have a "place" and I want to go to all of the restaurants in my area and try something new each time I go. I eat Thai food pretty regularly, so while I haven't been to every Thai restaurant in Santa Cruz County, I've been to most of them a handful of times each. Scotts Valley only has 2 Thai places and the other is owned by the same people who own one is Santa Cruz that I used to frequent. They're all pretty good, but this place has me hooked! I think I found my Thai place. I always have the same man serve me and I believe he is the owner. He is always wonderful and provides great service, even when he is the only person serving the whole restaurant when it's busy. read more

I really wanted to have a great restaurant experience last night. I didn't. My expectations were high. I had eaten here about six months ago and the food was very good. Last night it was disappointing. I'll start with the lighting. One side of the restaurant is lit with bright white (blue) florescent lights. It makes the restaurant far too bright and the food look unappetizing. We started with the spring rolls. They were much too large and mostly lettuce. These was a sporadic mint essence somewhere and a tiny piece of tofu in the middle. We struggled to find the papaya in the papaya salad. It tasted "fishy" and the garlic was over-powering. A day later and I can still taste the garlic. The pad thai was uninspired, more like a glob of noodles with some frozen shrimp tossed in. We also ordered a curried chicken dish. It tasted okay, but the lighting made it look nuclear green. it just looked unappetizing. I usually enjoy Thai food because it is fresh, healthy, and has lots of subtle flavors. I experienced none of that last night. On the positive side, the waiter was very friendly and the prices are quite reasonable. I hope they can get things worked out. It would be nice to have a good Thai restaurant in Scotts Valley. read more

Came here not expecting much, but was blown away! This place opened up recently after remodeling the old Thai restaurant that was here (~May 2012). The staff was very, very friendly and we will definitely be back. Even my two year old enjoyed the food. It was a really hot day, so we started off with some thai ice teas. It was creamy and sweet. Nice strong black tea flavor. Then came the fresh rolls with refreshing fresh mint (they were very fresh). Then we got cashew veggies with tofu and rice noodle with chicken. Sounds weird to get excited about this, but the brown rice served on the side was also really, really good! Somehow different than any other brown rice I've had before. For dessert, the we got coconut ice cream (could use more coconut) AND sweet rice with fresh mango. read more

This is a hidden gem in Scotts Valley. It was hidden in a huge shopping mall plaza. I did not expect much when I got into this restaurant but have to say, I was surprised to see how amazing the food this restaurant serves. I went with a group of 4 and we were seated immediately. The staff was super friendly. We ordered several dishes to share. My favorite dish is the pineapple fried rice. The fried rice was not served in a pineapple shell like many SF Thai restaurants do but the flavor of this dish was SOOOOO incredible! The condiments like chicken, pineapples and cashews were well balanced with the rice. If I visit this place again (I will for sure), I will definitely order this dish again! Another dish we really enjoyed was the Tom-Kha soup with tofu. I personally think the soup was cooked perfectly: not too sour nor thick. We asked for fresh silk tofu and it went super well with this coconut-based soup. I think this is another must-order dish if I come back to Scotts Valley. Overall, I give 4/5 to this restaurant. This is a small establishment. On a Saturday night there appeared only to be 2 people working. A man and a women were taking orders, busing tables and preparing food. The place was so quiet we decided to to order our food to go. Overall, I cannot complain about the quality of food. Not the best or worst Thai food in the world. Kind of what you expect from a hole in the wall type of a place. Late on a Monday evening after a long day, we were looking for a last minute place to get a good meal, but most places were closed at 8:45 PM. The door to Thai Heart was open, so we stepped in to ask if they were still serving. The owners Richie and Sara were clearly in the process of closing up, but invited us in anyway, and provided fantastic meals for us (loved the yellow curry). They also sat and chatted with us for ten minutes after we were done eating, and even sent us home with some extra from the kitchen that would have gone to waste otherwise. We are from out of town and chose this restaurant due to the Yelp reviews. I phoned in a take out order and was told 30 minutes. I arrived to pick up a few minutes early and was told it was not quite ready. I waited another 35 minutes for our food. In the mean time a couple who sat down 35 minutes after I ordered got their food as my name was called. When we opened our order one dish was not what we had ordered. We love Thai and eat it often. We always order it mild the first time at any new place as heat levels vary place to place. Mild it was but also fairly flavorless. The Thai egg rolls were over cooked. The drunken noodles were mediocre, the eggplant was the only saving grace. my rating is based on the knowledge that anyone can have an off night but leave it to you locals to adjust their ratings if the service and quality that we had tonight become the "norm". read more

Just happened on to this little place last weekend, and was pleasantly surprised! I recommend the pineapple fried rice. It's not too sweet, nor over-seasoned with soy sauce. It's fluffy and flavorful with chicken, prawns & pineapple chunks, without any seasoning or flavor overpowering another. We also had the prawn salad, which had your typical delicious salty-sweet-sour-slightly-fishy Thai dressing... cool, crisp & refreshing. Service was attentive & friendly, and the place was clean. They had a special of curry with pumpkin that looked / sounded good however we were not ready to commit to the large special. Their heater was broken and it was pretty cold in the restaurants; the waiter had 1 space heater that he had near us then moved to the other room...
