BEST THAI FOOD!!!! Thai food is my favorite food I could prob eat it every week, and when I moved to modesto from the Bay Area I left my fav Thai spot too :/ . So I tried a place in town hoping to find my new place well what the hell!! The place had nice decor but the food was terrible!! Seriously it makes me mad that such a place could be in business lol and I'm a fool for trying them 3x but I needed my Thai fix . Then a co worker mentioned Thai House !!!!!!!!!!!!!! And not only did I fall in love with their delicious food but even after going to my old fav spot in SJ, Thai House is better :) it's the best Thai I've ate and the service is great the girls are sweet and it's clean. I love Thai food, and this is from a guy who's actually been to Thailand so I'm kind of picky about what I consider good Thai Food. I went to this place last night and I hadn't been there in years and once I sat down and saw how clean it was I really appreciated this in a Asian food restaurant and the lighting was just right it wasn't bright like a cafeteria, it was just ...nice. the staff was friendly and and patient and it was definitely a family environment in my opinion. The food was delicious I had the Pad Thai, and Red Curry over rice, the fresh spring rolls are beautifully done and prepared I could eat them all day long. very happy with The Thai House. This is a very overdue review but I might be bored... I haven't eaten here in a couple years but the last time I did it wasn't all that great. My buddy and I ate here during lunch on a friday afternoon so it was pretty dead. We were practically the only patrons at the time, the food was pretty standard to much of the other thai restaurants in the area, although i prefer tasty thai. One unpleasant moment when we ate here was when the girl who was our waiter, who seemed a bit concerned for whatever reason warned us that there was a minimum purchase if we paid with card when we ordered. I honestly don't really understand how this restaurant has 4 out of 5 stars... Tonight was the second time we've given this place a try--my personal favorite Thai restaurant is Thai Jasmine in Tracy, but a friend took us here a couple of weeks ago. I wasn't too impressed with it the first go around. It took almost 30 minutes to get our food, my pad Thai was swimming in sauce and very salty, and my husband's bbq pork was brought out 15 minutes before the rest of our food. We decided to try it again tonight because my husband thought the slow service was due to our friends complicated order; this was not the case. Same situation, different visit. My husband's pork came out in 15 minutes, and 15 minutes later the rest of our food arrived. My pad Thai and his drunken noodles were so salty, it would have been inedible if we weren't starving at that point. The only good thing about this establishment are the waitresses. Our waters were always full and they were very friendly and attentive, but with the poor quality of food and excessive wait time for our meal to come out (both times) I don't think we'll be back. read more

Looks like a cheap buffet from the outside, inside it looks like a very lovely restaurant with great service go with it. There's so many good dishes here it is very difficult to pick one, its nice to go with friends cause you can all share dishes. I eat here all the time and have tried a variety of their dishes. I have never got a meal that I did not like. I've been to many Thai restaurants in the modesto area as well as some out of town and the Thai House is still one of my favorites! Oh, also the people who run the place are super cool. Just ok, not wonderful, been here 2 times, the first time my friend and I were the only ones there, about an hour before closing and ordered a curry. This is how I imagine the conversation between the server and the cook went down: "I need a yellow curry with chicken" "We're all out....it's ok I'll just add water to the pot and scrape the residue to make it look like curry" Blah.... Second time, I ordered pad thai with chicken and shrimp, there were about 3 shrimp a few pieces of chicken and lots of chunks of tofu. my favorite thai place in modesto for sure! they are extremely accomdating in making stuff vegan, and also knowledgable about what actually is put in their food! some places just don't give enough of a shit to say "oh, that one has fish sauce in it." but here they let a homie know. they have tofu, eggplant and general veggie dishes as well as several curries to choose from that are vegan. i like how calm this place feels even when it's busy. it's dimly lit and i like to get a window seat. nom! read more

I was so disappointed I went with my husband to try a new restaurant and it backfired so bad. We got there and there was only one person there working the floor, seating people and taking orders and taking orders out. It wasn't organized but we thought we will try it out. We got our seats 15 minutes after waiting...long story short we waited 1 hour for wrong food we didn't eat and we had to pay for the wrong food since the food was already made I had asked for a shrimp and chicken dish and there was only 3 shrimp in the dish I was so disappointed I will not go back there are other places that I can go to and will be seated and served with less than 30 minutes on a busy night. read more

With the guidance of the wait staff, I selected #81 curry with seafood replacing the standard steamed rice with steamed veggies to keep down carbs. The wait staff was very accommodating to make this swap. The curry broth was silky smooth, slightly spicy and flavorful, a perfect accent to the accompanying seafood. Not the best when compared to Bay Area and Los Angeles, but for Modesto it's pretty darn good and I will return. The owner was very kind and gave me suggestions on her most popular dishes. I tried the Yellow Curry, Pad Thai, house fried rice, sweet & sour pork, and cashew chicken. My favorite items were the Yellow Curry and Pad Thai. My daughter really liked the sweet & sour pork. They do add chunks of tofu to the Pad Thai which was over cooked and chewy. I will ask them to exclude tofu next time. They were quick to prepare the food and friendly. I will be back. read more

Food was great however they charge $2 per person for rice. I've never been to a Thai place that charges for rice. The portions were very small. They are very over priced. $7-8 for appetizers, the $10 chicken curry came in a cup, it could barely feed a person. I had to keep getting up to ask for service. The waitresses sat in the corner with their laptop. Actually one of the employee's who helped us is one of the yelpers, they shouldn't put their face on their profile pic. I went here based on the yelp reviews but now I have to think twice about where I go because it seems like the employee's are the ones who wrote some of the 5 Star reviews for this place. In a sentence, Thai House is about as good as a strip mall restaurant can be. They've made an effort at dressing up the place, but the food makes up for any poor first impression the decor may give you. The service is incredible. I've been about 6 times in as many months. And the young man who works there REMEMBERS my family's orders. And this is a relatively busy restaurant. It's uncanny. I highly recommend the fried rice with pineapple. You'll fight over those pineapple chunks. The yellow curry is divine and the chicken satay appetizer (5 skewers) is fabulous. Pad Thai was just okay in my opinion. It's a great place to branch out and explore the Thai palate. And your waiter will give great recommendations. There's not a lot of Thai food in Modesto, so I hope fellow yelpers can go and support Thai House to ensure the longevity it deserves! My experience here, as a visitor to the area and looking for a Thai take out place nearby, was good. Not amazing, but nothing was wrong either. The egg rolls are more like spring rolls, which is odd because they also offer spring rolls as a separate item. They were ok, nothing to write home about. The Pad Se Ew with shrimp was great - I'd get it again. My favorites are the Pad Thai, Green Curry--with extra veggies, no meat--, Egg Rolls, Coconut Chicken Soup, and Fried Banana with Coconut Ice Cream. Service is also good, and the only reason this doesn't get five stars because it had been about six months since I last went and when I went recently, the Pad Thai tasted a little too salty, the hot tea was steeped to strongly for once, and I didn't see the usual waitresses there that night.
