OMGosh!!!! What a great choice for a birthday lunch. This was my first time here (as well as my nephews first time) and we enjoyed every bit of the experience. This small restaurant on Portranco Road was a bit of a surprise on the West Side. Although it has no booths (for those who desire that accommodation) the wide choice of fare, both Thai and Chinese, was unexpected. The service was attentive, friendly and helpful. I highly recommend starting with their Jasmine tea. The spring roll appetizer was wonderful. I and my guests found the portions of choices they ordered to be large and fresh. It was easy to tell the veggies were not left over in a fridge for days like some places. The overall ambiance, even close to the roadway, was quiet and peaceful. It's a great Friday lunch well spent with relatives and friends especially today, both the best servers of Thai Hut here in Potranco are taking care of us--Rabiab and Pawn. Both young ladies are just very attentive and really know what we want and even anticipate what we need. The lunch special selections here are always worth the price we pay, they increase the price but it's still unbeatable. Free refills of freshly brewed thirst quenching iced tea squeezed with lemon wedges, a fried veggie egg roll, soup of the day and the best fish dish with sauce on the side...just yum! Haven't had this place in years! I will sum it up as ok/to good. I just don't have much to say negative, but doesn't mean it's good either. Let me explain. It's like one thing was really really good and the next thing was just ok! Let's start with the appetizers we ordered. We had the spring rolls and squid. The spring rolls were very good and the dipping sauce, yes! The squid was not very good. It just wants executed properly. The story here is that they really rely way to much on sauce to carry the dish. Honesty, the best thing was the soup they bring you before your meal. That was a wonderful touch, and actually delicious! The misses had what I thought was sweet and sour chicken. Now hear me out...why are restaurants now serving sauce on the side? That genuinely confuses me? It's never enough to cover, and just no! The chicken was BLAND! My panang curry was very delicious! But....yet again it's not as spicy as I think it should've been. So ordered from here for the first time to try something new with the family. The chicken was cooked well and very good. The lemon sauce and sweet and sour sauce was decent as well. Only issue I had really is with the sweet and sour chicken felt they overdid it with the sauce drowning the food. Next time for sure order sauce on the side for me. The pat thai chicken was also pretty good and the spice to it was nice. I think just a little bit of sauce would been good as it was a bit dry but otherwise a good recommendation. We ordered to go and luckily we did! The place was a cute and fully packed. They ended up having a waitlist which to me is always a good sign. This is the second Thai place I've tried since moving to SA and it was pretty good. The flavors were good and my bf loved his fried rice. Their curry was flavorful but thinner than I like it however it came with some crunchy noodles which fit perfectly to thicken it. At first I wasn't a fan but it grew on me! Personally, I don't like peanuts, so I always ask for no peanuts. You have the option on any plate to request the level of spice! I normally go with medium because it is a safe place if you like spicy however, if you dare to try hot be prepared for your mouth to be on fire. Each lunch meal comes with the soup of the day. My favorite soup is a chicken broth that has small pieces of chicken in the. We know MOST waiters personally and each one is kind. I have only experienced one rude waitress who rushes you to order and doesn't let you finish your sentence. This place has always been one of my favorite Thai restaurants. I was surprised today the customer service was not what it used to be. The food was still very good but they didn't have several of the items we wanted. We finally said tell us what you've got available. We stayed picked other options and their food was as delicious as always but when restaurants allow shortages in their menu listed items it's a sure sign of problems. Every Thai restaurant you go too seems different so trying to find one where you really like can be hard! The place is clean and the servers were incredibly professional and helpful. One guy was so incredibly polite and respectful! It's rare to get such good service like this even if your getting things to go! They were accommodating because I kept adding to my order! My assessment of the food: 1. Cheese rolls: crispy and Full of cream Cheese with a little hint of sweetness! Perfection! 2. Thai Hut Fried Rice: the rice was perfectly done and the flavors were spot on! Every Thai fried rice is different and for me this was exceptional! I enjoyed it immensely and would recommend this! 3. Pad Kee Moa (aka drunken noodles): this is my all time favorite Thai dish and like with Thai fried rice is made differently everywhere you go! However, this place made it exactly the way I'm used too! It was perfectly Seasoned and flavorful, the right amount of heat and this plate was phenomenal! It had green bell peppers, tomatoes and Chinese broccoli and I opted for The beef which is thinly sliced and tender. I can't wait to go back and get more!!! There is a lot of food which can be eaten over the course of several days!! 4. Thai Beef Salad: my husband liked it but said he has had better. It seemed a bit oily to him and overly sweet. First time dining in! I had visited this place once before when it was the "take out orders only covid era". I don't recall the food much so I wanted to refresh my opinion of this place and what better way to do it than to dine in?? THE SPACE: It is a Friday and a busy lunch hour! The place is buzzing with social energy as groups (mostly 3+ per party), the TV (1 of 2) that happens to be right over my head is on playing a daytime law tv series, the tv at back airs Disney's The Jungle Book and Bruno Mars wails over the stereo speakers. There is a good amount of noise, but nothing over the top. If your sleeping infant is sensitive to noise, lunch hour would probably not be a good time to visit. Pretty large dining room has approximately 16-22 tables from my guestimation. THE SERVICE: I am greeted at the front door and seated very quickly by the hostess/cashier who stands behind the register in the back. She must get good exercise during her shift! I am dining solo (don't cry for me, I LOVE it!) and she seats me at a 2-seater table. A server comes quickly to ask what is like to drink and mentions that an iced tea (regular or sweet) comes with all lunch specials. Sweet! And I mean the deal AND the tea of choice. Haha! THE MENU: is just the right size. I don't know about you, but a large menu is overwhelming. Chef Gordon Ramsay agrees, btw! So I love that all items are on a two-sided laminated menu that features all lunch specials on one side and appetizers, desserts and beverages on the other. I'm certain they'll have a separate dinner menu for that hour. Lunch specials are all $9.70 each, includes a slew of dining choices from Thai to Chinese entrees to choose from. All specials include the tea, rice (unless otherwise mentioned), egg roll and soup of the day. Please note that per the menu, soup and tea are not part of the special if ordering to-go. I choose: Pad Prig (aka Hot Pepper) dish with chicken as my protein. "Hot" as in they make it as spicy as you like and "pepper@ because they add green bell peppers to the dish. My server asks "how spicy?" And I go with medium. Easiest way to gauge a kitchen if you aren't fully sure what their definition of spicy is. Lol. THE FOOD: My tea comes quick and the soup is quick to follow. Today's soup is a light broth with pieces of ground chicken, rice, fresh chopped celery and carrot. The saltiness is perfect, and I find this soup to be very comforting. Totally something I'd make for myself at home. Unfortunately, my entree comes super fast, too. I've barely touched my soup! This crew does not mess around. A few minutes later I get to my entree, it is almost entirely cold. Food was cooked in a flash and some ingredients are still refrigerator cold and partially cooked. They're veggies, so I don't mind but would have loved an opportunity to enjoy my soup at my leisure. Oops! One tomato slice shows the fruit was not de-cored during prepping. May not be necessary step for the Asian community, but most Americans would balk at that. I am both Asian and American, so I quickly remove the top and eat it on one swift motion. The entree is tasty, so is my egg roll. No dipping sauce is offered for the fried appetizer, so I just ate it and was fine as is. My server stops briefly to scoop up empty dishes and straw and disposable chop stick trash. HUGE PLUS in my book. I love a pre-busser! She returns to refill my tea and I ask if they have fresh mangoes available. A valid question as the season may not allow for access to fresh mangoes. She is sweet to say that she will go check in the kitchen to be sure there is a "good" mango for me. Haha! She may not trust her cooks to make that determination. 6 minutes later I have a sticky rice with mango dessert and it is perfect! If you haven't tried this sweet delicacy, you must! Pretty much a hit at every Thai restaurant. Basic traditional recipe that doesn't deviate, in my opinion. OVERALL: I am quite happy with my meal today. The staff here are here to WORK and maintain a happy and well-fed clientele. Don't expect a chatty server, staff members on their phones or congregating in a corner. They are fast on their feet and ever-moving, so if you need something as they're swooping by, you'd best hope your chopsticks aren't in your mouth! Enjoy! read more

The service at this restaurant was great, everyone serving us was very attentive. Our favorite dish was the Panang curry, it was so flavorful and spicy. If you like spicy food this is definitely your go to dish. My second favorite dish was the chicken Thai fried rice. It was cooked perfectly, and the chicken was extremely flavorful. We ordered all of our food with a medium spice level, which was a lot spicier than I expected. In my opinion the shrimp pad see ew was just okay. It wasn't bad, but I have had better pad see ew at other Thai restaurants. Lastly, the Thai iced tea was like dessert, the ratio was perfect and it wasn't too sweet. Ugh! Called in an order for pickup. I specifically asked for "steamed" tofu on our two orders of Pad See Ew. On our Yellow Curry, I skipped the tofu, since we thought we'd have plenty from our entrees and asked for extra veggies instead. Not only did they give us "fried" tofu on both entrees, but they also didn't give us extra veggies on the curry. When I got home, I called to complain and was told the kitchen only had fried tofu so they substituted it. Huh? Like without calling me? We don't eat meat, so this is a big deal for us. I think they were trying to get rid of their extra fried cubes and loaded us up on it. Look at that picture...hardly any noodles or veggies. Plus the only flavor is soy sauce. Came here for lunch with my family on a Sunday. I'm vegan and they are not. I ended up getting a super tasty tofu pad see ew. The menu we were handed was sort of tiny with not many options and I didn't even realize they only had lunch specials going at the time. (The waitress failed to explain this to us) So when she brought us all soup before the actual food came out we were confused. She then explained it's part of the lunch special, tea, soup and a spring roll. I had to clarify I was vegan and she explained the soup had chicken in it. She hadn't made that connection before when I ordered a tofu dish no meat but no worries. I did confirm with her the spring roll was veggie only and no meat. I had also ordered a ramune soda not realizing tea came with the meal for free. Again, she hadn't specified but no biggie. I'm definitely down to come here again as the food was good.
