OMGosh!!!! What a great choice for a birthday lunch. This was my first time here (as well as my nephews first time) and we enjoyed every bit of the experience. The staff was great and welcomed me with a big HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I felt welcomed. And to top it off, my meal was free. Happy birthday to ME! The ambiance was beautiful. The vibe was peaceful. The food was delicious. I will definitely be returning. Thank you to the amazing staff for a great experience. Thank you, Abby

Welp....they did it yet again! Whenever I have those moments where I cant figure out what I want to eat, I find myself at Thai Hut! It's something about their food that gives me the warm and fuzzies! One of these days I'm going to figure out what it is, but until then, I will continue to indulge. If you're reading this review, I think it's safe to say you're considering this place right? Well stop considering and get over there ASAP.

It's a great Friday lunch well spent with relatives and friends especially today, both the best servers of Thai Hut here in Potranco are taking care of us--Rabiab and Pawn. Both young ladies are just very attentive and really know what we want and even anticipate what we need. The lunch special selections here are always worth the price we pay, they increase the price but it's still unbeatable. Free refills of freshly brewed thirst quenching iced tea squeezed with lemon wedges, a fried veggie egg roll, soup of the day and the best fish dish with sauce on the side...just yum! Friday lunch time today seemed to be busier than usual but the place is still clean and generally well-kept. It's always a great dining experience here with affordably-priced delicious lunch special selections and great customer service from Rabiab and Pawn. Very personal and warm reception and consistent!

Tasty but not the kick I wanted!

Haven't had this place in years! I will sum it up as ok/to good. I just don't have much to say negative, but doesn't mean it's good either. Let me explain. It's like one thing was really really good and the next thing was just ok! Let's start with the appetizers we ordered. We had the spring rolls and squid. The spring rolls were very good and the dipping sauce, yes! The squid was not very good. It just wants executed properly. The story here is that they really rely way to much on sauce to carry the dish. Honesty, the best thing was the soup they bring you before your meal. That was a wonderful touch, and actually delicious! The misses had what I thought was sweet and sour chicken. Now hear me out...why are restaurants now serving sauce on the side? That genuinely confuses me? It's never enough to cover, and just no! The chicken was BLAND! My panang curry was very delicious! But....yet again it's not as spicy as I think it should've been. I ordered the hottest...it had a slight kick to it. We both agreed it's just ok, but for the price and the portion size not worth for us to come back again. It's a three because that's exactly what it is.

I had triple hot joy . The shrimp red curry was delicious It was hot but I made it through until the last bite. The service was great .They explain in detail how each dish was made.

Lemon chicken (sauce on the side)

So ordered from here for the first time to try something new with the family. The chicken was cooked well and very good. The lemon sauce and sweet and sour sauce was decent as well. Only issue I had really is with the sweet and sour chicken felt they overdid it with the sauce drowning the food. Next time for sure order sauce on the side for me. The pat thai chicken was also pretty good and the spice to it was nice. I think just a little bit of sauce would been good as it was a bit dry but otherwise a good recommendation. The sweet rice with coconut sauce was also interesting it wasn't overbearingly sweet. Overall good experience and would definitely come back to eat here in the future

am not sure why I have taken this long to review this place considering I go about once a week. Hands down the Phai Thai is where it's at! Personally, I don't like peanuts, so I always ask for no peanuts. You have the option on any plate to request the level of spice! I normally go with medium because it is a safe place if you like spicy however, if you dare to try hot be prepared for your mouth to be on fire. Each lunch meal comes with the soup of the day. My favorite soup is a chicken broth that has small pieces of chicken in the. We know MOST waiters personally and each one is kind. I have only experienced one rude waitress who rushes you to order and doesn't let you finish your sentence. They do tend to get packed during lunch and the reviews are true if you try calling in an order you probably will be waiting a little longer than you want so plan ahead. Just a bonus - they sometimes offer a lollipop for my daughter

She was attentive and friendly while we were eating, BUT I did have to go find her when it was time to go. And the ambiance, it wasn't anything special. Just suitable for any size group, like me and my daughter. Or the family group of 10+ just across the room. Everyone had plenty of room. All was good and well, so here's my beef... Cleanliness!! We were escorted to a not so clean table that the hostess brushed food off the table then laid down own menus. But that wasn't the worse of it. These was noodles in the cracks of the seat. And not just one or two. Kind of creeped me out. Love the food but cleanliness matters...or I may not be back.

Personally, I'd skip the fried rice option. Noodles definitely tastes better. The medium create your own comes with two choice sides and sticking to noodles, white rice, or cabbage is going to be our way to go in the future. Brown rice was another option, but I'd rather choose cabbage than subject myself to deconstructed fake rice. There were tons of great proteins and a dozen different sauce options at the end. One of the kids chose to go with a bbq theme with chicken, pork, and steak. Another went middle of the road with some standard Asian flavors and a tiny bit of heat. I went full surf & turf with tons of delicious toppings and the spiciest sauces on the bar. Solid heat level, akin to a medium heat in a Thai restaurant. In summary, we downloaded the rewards app and plan to go back. The elementary school kid will definitely do a kids meal size next time. The middle schooler will stick with the small size CYO. As for me, I'll keep going medium CYO because leftovers for lunch are definitely worth it!

It's a little expensive, even for a weekend. You would expect more and better choices for the prices we paid. About $80 for two adults and a midget. They had your typical fare. The least favs-ribs(tough/dry and no flavor), steak(tough and under seasoned), steam buns(the filling just no), bourbon chicken(dry chicken and not enough sauce), and the consensus least fav were all the desserts. There was flying bugs, and everything was super dry and tasted old. I get it, what do expect for a Chinese buffet in San Antonio? Well I expect no flying insects in the desserts for the price I paid. Also, 75 % of the fruit we got was as tough as the steak. Oh, and the cold shrimp, either overcooked or thawed the wrong way. The shell was practically glued on. The positives-all the rice and noodle dishes were good to ok. The hot and sour soup was really good! The teriyaki chicken was actually good. The bigger sauced rib was good. The kimchi was some of the better we've had recently. The spring rolls with peanut were good. The two fish dishes we had(fried and not fried) were actually quite nice. All the breads were good. The waitress was very nice and attentive. Almost forgot, the bathrooms were kinda gross. They need to be kept clean. Will not come back again.

The buffet options are good, but their general tso's chicken is not the best (and I judge how good overall Chinese buffets on this lol). A surprise hit is the sautéed green beans, which are perfectly cooked and garlicky--just like how you'd find it traditionally cooked in Chinese cuisine. I also think they're deep fried (salt and pepper?) shrimp (next to the crawfish) is very delicious. Plates are cleared pretty quickly and the buffet space is kept orderly and decently clean.
