If you've been to more than a handful of Thai restaurants, you know that there's some dependable consistency in the ones that are good enough to return to. They have good flavors, use quality meats and vegetables, and are prompt and courteous -- and they all pretty much have the same menu, with slight variations. Right? We're not talking Michelin stars here. It's a meal for like $12, and you have a craving for pad siew, and all you want is to not be disappointed. If that's what you're looking for, go here. I've had the pad siew with beef and crispy noodles (with an upcharge) and the curry fried rice with chicken. The pad siew sauce was quite sweet (I happen to like that), and the crispy noodles were very delicious and so crispy I couldn't stab them with my fork (also just the way I like it). The curry fried rice was very flavorful, and I enjoyed that too. Negatives? Well, I would have liked more broccoli in the pad siew, and although I asked for "mild" on the curry fried rice, what I got was just shy of spontaneous combustion on the Astrid scale of spicy (I have very very low tolerance for spicy stuff). I've given this place 3 chances. No more. I get charged for food I don't receive (all 3 out of 3 times). They place food that should be hot next to food that should be cold when delivering so everything is room temp upon arrival. They "ran out of chicken." How do you run out of chicken? This is annoying and all, but the food doesn't even taste good. Maki roll was rolled so loosely and was mostly just rice. They tried to skimp us out of the fish, but didn't even bother to compensate by adding extra veg. Idk what's up with the peanut sauce, but it's very wrong. Gross and such a tiny cup for $2.50. Idk where the sauce was on my noodle dish, because it wasn't there. And to top it off, all the items in my last delivery was covered in the miso soup that spilled everywhere inside my house when I opened up the delivery bag. One pro: I've never gotten food poisoning so they've got that going for them, I guess. I need to find some good Thai food nearby because this is not it. Ordered lunch for delivery and while im in the middle of my lunch i bit something hard thought it was some kind of rock when i seen it, it was a huge NAIL on my padsew. I called the restaurant and then ask for a refund but they said they cannot or don't have someone who could deliver the money to me and then told me that I have to drop by to the restaurant and then get the money myself after my work which I think is not fair. That's why I had it deliver in the first place. The way they handle the situation was bery unprofessional. It ended up me not getting my money back. It still scares me to think what if I could've swalled that huge nail.I would never refer anyone and never comeback to this restaurant again. The restaurant itself is beautiful, for a storefront strip mall in Glenview. They remodeled quite a bit from the old Your Choice Thai that previously was located there. Tom yum soup was good. Egg rolls, mediocre. Pad Thai, good taste but gummy clumpy noodles. Basil beef didnt have much beef or flavor. The service is why I give this only two stars. It took them about 10 minutes to give us water after serving us. I specifically asked for the egg rolls and the soup first, and then the entrees after. 10 minutes or so later, they bring the pad thai. No soup, no egg rolls. They took back the pad thai and gave us the egg rolls a few minute later. About 5 minutes later, they brought out the soup, and then about 30 seconds later, brought out the pad thai and basil beef with no apologies. I could maybe understand if the place was slammed, but we were one of maybe two tables who hadn't been served food yet, so there should not have been any rush to get things out of the kitchen. They didn't refill water, and I ordered the food pretty spicy, so I had to get my own pitcher of water from the front desk. Don't get me wrong, the two people working the FOH were nice enough, but they were completely clueless. I have been going to the Skokie location forever! I love their pad thai, pad see ew, lad nar, and tom yum soup. Their food is pretty authentic and delicious. When I was away at school, I craved for their tom yum soup. I love both locations: Skokie and Glenview. The interior of the restaurant is beautiful and simple. Just did a pick up order. The lady at the front desk was taking phone orders and distributing pick up orders. She wasn't wearing a mask when I walked in to get my food. She was taking a phone order. I backed out of the restaurant until she was done talking because there was no way to maintain a six foot distance from her. I the. I took a friend for lunch to Thai Inbox today, as this is a favorite for lunch. However, the service was horrible and could not get served properly. Too make things really bad, the table next to us was served with some kind of a metal container with a fire underneath. The couple looked worried, got up. I thought there was going to be some kind of a fire. But to our horror, a roach/bug came walking out of their food on the table. The server captured the critter and took away in cloth napkin. That couple left without eating. Others who could not get service were leaving. That was a horrible experience. I then asked if they had mango smoothies and before I could finish my sentence they replied with a no. On a different occasion when I dined here, it seemed as if preferential treatment was given to the Caucasian customers. On a different note, their food was okay. Cute little restaurant in a strip mall. Food was great. Service was prompt since it was a Sunday night. There was another couple there when my party of 3 arrived. Our waiter asked if we wanted a booth or a table. I was expecting something more, like, "Hello, is this your first time here" or "Our specials today are.." We started with the sampler platter as our appetizer. There was crab Rangoon, fried tofu, fried gyoza, and what looked like fried wonton wrappers but it had some kind of filling. What the filling was, I don't know. Whatever it was, that app needed more of it. I n ordered the pad see ewe, and the house fried rice with beef. My husband ordered the pad thai seafood platter, and my kiddo order the tom Khao ( I think ). All our dishes were mildly spiced. We weren't asked if we wanted it spicy or not. The mildness request was assumed. The portions were not overly large. We had leftoves. The beef was seasoned well. Not dry at all. The rice was cooked the way my family liked, not mushy and not al dente. The heat of my daughter's soup was just right for her. The seafood was not rubbery. Overall, great quality cooking of the ingredients. Our tab was pretty low for 3, with drinks and an app. Downside, we weren't asked if we wanted dessert. Our check was brought just as we were almost finished eating. The hubby ordered the mango and sticky rice not noticing the check was on the table. Our waiter covertly removed the check and placed our dessert order. Plus side, the mango and sticky rice was great. They do have lunch specials and deliver too. Our go-to Thai place, and certainly needs support now (COVID-19 times). These guys are still open for take out, so I'm not sure what you're waiting for! My kids are addicted to their pad see ew and pad woon sen. Don't know how they do it, but my family can eat these by the bucket. We get both with tofu (always perfectly deep fried :). Rarely with chicken (hit or miss, sometimes chewy, but may be I didn't pick up on time). Also, the mussaman curry is freaking awesome. Note, the panang curry is a tad spicy, and they can't "edit" that. So don't order it, if you're not a fan of spicy food. I absolutely adore their fish cakes. Rarely see these at other restaurants, and the Thai Inbox gets them done perfectly!! (Lemongrass? Lime leaves? No clue, they're awesome). All the other classics on the menu are also good. So go out there, and get some Thai food to get you thru the quarantine. Wine is right next door at Trader Joe's. You'll be set for the night! read more

Really great Thai food served here. I stopped in for lunch and had the basil fried rice with squid. After waiting some time for my food, paying for it, and watching the patrons sitting at the table next to me who arrived about 5 minutes after I arrived were served there food first, I asked a server if there was a problem with my food. They forgot to serve me my food but they addressed the problem immediately, and efficiently. This is the first time something like this happened, but the staff was very friendly and addressed the issue immediately. The kindness of the staff and the excellent tasting food definitely made up for the mistake. I'll definitely be eating here again. read more

This Thai food is MSG heavy and very salty and unhealthy. I still go there because I'm addicted to salty MSG stuff (who isn't) and it is close to my house. The servers always act like they don't understand your English. I've seen an entire table stand up and leave after tasting their food saying that the "food is terrible" and that they were not paying for it. I have felt like doing that as well. Many of their dishes are totally inedible because it is so salty or MSG laden. The wait is sometimes terribly long. One time I called at 11:30 a.m. for take out and was told the chef hadn't arrived yet. I always get the beef stew noodle soup. That's my favorite, but I always balk at first and want to dilute it because of how salty it is. My tastebuds adjust after a few mouthfuls but that first one is a shocker. Do yourself a favor and go to Northpoint Chopsticks down the road if you are in the mood for asian cuisine. read more

Curious to find another good Thai place, me and my sister found ourselves at this restaurant. Apparently the Mango with sweeted sticky rice was back so we had to try that! As for the other dishes we decided to default to our usual Beef pad thai(It was good but for same price another place has tofu included), Pork pad siew(It was also good), and chicken panang curry(it was good but didnt have enough chicken and default spicy level was just right). The crab rangoon was one of the best ive had but was very small for a dollar per piece! The Free chicken fried rice with order of over 40 dollars was delicious too! Came in here for lunch the other day, server handed me the menu and immediately asked what I wanted to order, I told her I had never been there before and I would like a minute to read over the menu (it's like 10 pages). Service was just ok, she didn't ask if we wanted anything to drink besides water but it seemed like nobody else at other tables had the option as well so maybe they don't offer anything else. The food was tasty and well seasoned, I had the lunch special pad thai which came with a soup or salad and an appetizer. I also ordered crab rangoons to split with my table. Excellent food but the service is not good. To give you some idea, I came in and they told me the place wasn't open yet. They open at 11 am. I look at my watch, it's 10:59. I mean... ok? I waited on the street a few minutes and went in after. Many people wouldn't have. Stuff like that happens here a lot. Not that it's so bad that it's a deal-breaker, (at least for me) but definitely not that great. The reason I keep coming here is the food is really good. The spicy basil is probably the best I've had in the area, and their chicken noodle soup is much better than at Panera or something. Considering how good the food is, the shit service becomes tolerable. The other reason I keep coming back is the hours here are good. Most of its competitors are closed on Monday or closed after lunch until dinner, etc. These guys are open on Monday, and it's simple, they're open till closing. The worst customer experience ever! My wife and I went in for lunch and we ordered 2 noodle dishes along with 2 extra bowls of rice because the noodle dishes don't include rice. After eating our soup and salad we got our noodle dishes and about 3 bites in, my wife finds a LONG STRAND OF HAIR in the sprouts. We call over the waitress and she immediately calls over the "manager". Without a word, the "manager" takes away the plate and goes back into the kitchen. After a few minutes, we realize that she might be just be making a new dish, but because we no longer have an appetite and don't want another dish I go back up to her and tell her that we don't want another dish. She confirms and I go sit back down. About a minute later the waitress comes back with the check. One noodle dish is taken off but we are still charged for 2 bowls of rice. I politely ask why we are charged for the rice and the waitress gets the "manager" again. The "manager" immediately starts giving us attitude. We explain that we can't just eat plain rice and she fires back "well there was no hair in the rice". I calmly explain that we ordered the rice with the noodle dish because it doesn't come with rice and had we actually gotten a dish to eat the rice with, we would pay for it. She still refuses to take off the $2 rice bowl. I ask her if she just expects us to take home a plain bowl of rice and she says "well I told you that you could order whatever you wanted". I remind her that she never told us that but just silently took away the hairy dish without asking us anything. She then starts yelling at us that she doesn't know where the hair came from because she doesn't have blonde hair and no on in the kitchen has blonde hair. My wife and I also do not have blonde hair so then I ask if she is accusing us of planting a blonde hair in the food. She screams that it is not their fault and that the rice didn't have hair in it so we have to pay for it. I then ask for the owner and she yells, "they aren't here, they are in Thailand!". I ask for whoever is in charge and she yells, "she is in the kitchen and she can't come out!". Then I ask who is in charge that I can actually talk to? She stutters a bit, looks around and yells, "I'm in charge here! I'm the manager! I'm not taking off the rice and if you don't want to pay then I'm calling the police!" At this point my wife and I are bewildered and confused. We have been calmly responding to her at this point even though she was yelling and screaming at us, we never got up from our booth, we never said we wouldn't pay, we simply asked her to remove the $2 charge for the rice. After a minute a Glenview police officer shows up and we waive him in from the window. The officer is very friendly and explain to him the situation, apologize that we are wasting his time with such a trivial matter, and tell him that the "manager" called the police. He is rather stunned and confused and asks again, "Wait, so SHE called the police and not you?" Because this is a civil matter, there is nothing that he can do so he then suggests that we just pay for it with a credit card then dispute the charge so we ended up doing that. As we walk out with the police officer (who did an amazing job of not laughing out loud), he says with a big smile, "wow, they must really be struggling if they won't take off a $2 rice". So that really happened. It is a shame, but I guess we will be going to Thai Inbox in Wilmette which is run by a different owner and not affiliated at all with the one in Glenview. read more

Very disappointed. I ordered the chive dumpling, which is described as "delicate" and "lightly pan-fried." It was very oily, dense, and heavy. Without the dipping sauce, it was basically flavorless. I ordered the cashew dish with tofu for an entrée. I didn't get rice with my pickup order. It was also very bland. Neither of these dishes tasted like Thai food to me. As far as Thai food in the suburbs, Thai inbox has not disappointed me. My favorite thing there is the Tom Yom Noodle Soup with the glass noodles. I like their marinated pork appetizer as well. Both are always flavorful. I like my soup spicy, but they will adjust it to the customer's liking. The pad thai is also flavorful. The service is usually good. The restaurant is small with a intimate feel. They offer take out. Prices are reasonable. There are also a few Cantonese dishes if there is someone in your party who doesn't enjoy Thai cuisine. read more

The quality of the food here is amazing. Their lunch special includes a soup, app, and main dish. Unlike other asian places, the shrimp doesn't appear to be frozen. In addition, their spicy dishes are hot, however they cook it in a way that the spiciness adds flavor to the dish. The only reason I didn't give this place a 5 stars is because they can be inconsistent with their ticket times during peak hours at lunch which is somewhat understandable, however can be slightly frustrating at times if you are coming during business lunch hours and have a 1 pm meeting. To be safe, give yourself an hour and half during business lunch hours and you won't be disappointed. read more

Awesome. A little background of the location of this Thai cuisine restaurant. There have been at least 3 Thai restaurants in this same spot for at least 20 years, and the last one that was there was, eh, at best. When I saw Thai Inbox there I thought 'Another Thai restaurant in the same store front, *yawn* yay' Well, then me and a buddy went in there at 2 on a Sunday for lunch. The ambiance is appropriate, it's clean and modern looking, with those little plants and little water falls you find in all the good Asian cuisine restaurants so naturally, I knew it was going to be good food. I was wrong. The food is O U T S T A N D I N G . I ordered a Thai Iced Tea, and what came looked like coffee and had cream at the top in the ice cubes with the light amber tea below, I was pleasantly surprised when I found the cream was condensed milk and the tea was delicious. I didn't plan on ordering an appetizer for lunch but my homing device installed behind my thermothrottle next to the base of my medulla zeroed in on potstickers, because I love potstickers. I ordered the pork potstickers and when they came I was a little taken back that they were so small, but what they lacked in size they made up for in flavor. The pork filling was seasoned nicely and the bread pocket was pan-seared and had a crispy fried outside, it was the perfect combination of textures. Moving on, I looked at the entrée options (choose chicken, pork, beef or squid as the protein for several different prepared noodles and veggies) I saw the basil entrée and new I had to have it. For the protein I thought 'What doesn't kill me makes me stronger' and ordered the squid. When our entrees came the first thing I noticed were the veggies! My basil entrée had brilliant-colored, firm-but-cooked, perfectly-sliced onions, peppers (red and green) and basil. I was so impressed by how good it all looked prepared with the strips of squid, I actually paused before I ate it. Thankfully I snapped out of my gaze and took a first bite of onion pepper basil and squid, and I couldn't believe that the vegetables tasted as good as they looked and were prepared! Bite after bite, squid and peppers and onion and a light, flavorful sauce, it was truly and experience to be had. I cannot raise both my thumbs high enough for this place. I recommend this place to anyone who likes Thai, wants to try Thai, has heard about Thai, or can't Thai their shoes, it will knock their socks off. Beautiful restaurant, wonderful service - fake chicken. I've ordered from there twice. Both dishes contained chicken. Both times the color and texture was off. They must purchase some type of 'chicken' like ingredient that is simply heat and serve - it simply doesn't taste right. More like the quality of a McDonald's nugget.
