    Eggplant Delight
    Juliawati W.

I went there yesterday with my husband. This place is reopening with a different name "Surreal Thai". It was a Saturday night and there was a soft opening with 20% discount so the place was packed. Regardless, we were seated immediately when we arrived around 6:40 pm. The ambiance is nice with unique overhead lighting. It's a cosy place. The menu has staple offerings such as noodles, rice and curries like you would expect a Thai restaurant. I ordered the chef special Khao Soi which was a chicken leg stew in a curry with egg noodle. I also ordered Eggplant delight with tofu. For appetizer we ordered grilled squid. The squid was very rubbery and smelled not fresh. The curry was good but the whole chicken leg was a bit tough and there's no knife to cut it. The most disappointing was the eggplant delight. Couldn't see the egg plant and it was cut too small and way too overcooked, not to mention it was covered in a soup like sauce. Taste wise it was ok. Both my husband and I had diarrhea within 8 hours. Not going back.

Flavor for the food is always on point. Service is nice and friendly. Plenty of seating available for small or large groups. They're usually not busy should definitely do some advertisements then it would be packed! With a full bar if you're thirsty for some drinks.

Located in a shopping plaza, this location has plenty of parking and indoor seating. Food: I ordered the chicken panang curry and drunken noodles with beef. The panang curry was very flavorful and more on the coconut side which I liked. It was paired with broccoli and of course chicken. Interesting enough, there was bits of I believe peanuts inside this dish which was the first time I've seen it like this -- this didn't bother me much and thought it added an uniqueness to the dish. The dunked beef has great flavor but the some of the veggies were not cooked all the way which was a little disappointing. This dish had more packed veggies and less of the middles than other drunken noodles I've gotten where it was more noodles and less on the veggies. The beef was great in this dish! Service was awesome and the food came out quick for dine in. Overall, this is a good location for Thai food.

    Pad see ew (disappointing portion)

It was a disappointing experience for last nights take out. We ordered the pad see ew, asked if they can add additional noodles, they said they weren't able to do so. Most Thai places are able to do so, so not sure why they can't do the same as their competitors. The portion size was very disappointing for the price. We also ordered the Panang curry; this was good, but the amount of rice was half the size of a normal portion restaurants would offer. Had to add our own cooked rice... The fried tofu was good and so was the curry puffs. Overall, we will never go back.

First, we had the best service and they accommodated our speed and style of dining. Tried multiple dishes and desserts. Spicy eggplant stir fried with veggies was delicious and medium spicy was not very spicy. Tom Yum fried rice with shrimp was very seasoned with the right amount of spicy. Pad Thai with beef had the best noodles, perfectly chewy. Slightly on the sweet side, but very addictive. Good portions Papaya salad was very fresh and tasty. Inside was crowded for lunch, but the patio was empty. Patio was lovely today, beautiful weather. Mango with sticky rice and coconut custard was one of the best desserts we had in a long time. Definitely getting this again. The Thai Coffee with crème brûlée was smooth and creamy, very satisfying. Avocado and honey smoothie was creamy and good, maybe more avocado flavor could have improved the taste. Will definitely come back with more friends.

The restaurant is a longer, more compressed layout that has a lot of seating for a smaller space, but it can really fill up. The service is consistent across servers that I've experienced - they are neutrally friendly; the service is a little over the bare minimum, but not disappointing. They won't make you feel like you're special but instead like you're just another customer that they are going to feed and send on your way. No complaints. The food is consistently good, hence we keep coming back when we visit the area. We normally get the summer rolls, thai red curry, and pad thai. It's fresh, delicious, and something I look forward to enjoying when we are in town.

I had the lunch special here on a Friday and it was pretty darn good. Tastes were authentic but the "spicy" dishes could have used more spice. The lunch special offers 2 sides from among 3 choices: fried spring roll, papaya salad, or tom yum chicken soup. Since I had dining companions, I tried all three. The fried spring roll was average. It was not a fried stick of tasteless goo like at some other places. It had decent structure inside and good flavor, but it was rather plain. The sweet chili sauce on it was average and also had somewhat of an artificial pinkish hue to it. The tom yum chicken soup was similarly average but tasty enough to be satisfying. In my opinion, the papaya salad was the best of these three. It was crisp and fresh tasting, and had a good hint of chili spice to it. For entrees, we had the garlic tofu, drunken noodles, and chicken pad krapow. The garlic tofu came in a ring of undercooked broccoli. It could have been steamed longer or integrated with the cooking of the tofu and sauce. The flavor profile was lighter and less intense than at other Thai restaurants. Both the drunken noodles and the pad krapow delivered with familiar flavors, but underperformed on spice level. They were both denoted on the menu with 2 chili symbols but really came out weak (1 or less on the Universal Thai Spice Scale - UTSS). I'd come back here for the lunch special, or just to try anything else off the full menu, but I'd want to ask the kitchen to up their seasoning to match UTSS standards.

The space is very small, maybe 10 tables. There's some parking that might be available in a small lot across the street and a half block away. I ordered Tom Ka Gai soup with Chicken, and Drunken Noodles with beef. Seems simple enough. And yet, there were three issues with these two dishes. I was really hopeful when they brought out my bowl of soup, mostly because it was a BOWL of soup and not the more typical cup-sized serving. The bad news was that the soup was tasteless. It consisted of a watery broth, some chunks of chicken, and a few mushrooms. (Issue #1). The six of us were two or three spoonfuls into our soups when the waiter brought our entrees. I don't know about you, but I like to finish one course before the next one is brought to my table, and I'm faced with having to decide which dish I want to let get cold. (Issue #2) In this case, the choice seemed obvious. I pushed the bowl of soup away and dug into my Drunken Noodles. Like many people, I typically order Drunken Noodles at Thai restaurants. I've had it dozens of times without any problems. I say "Drunken Noodles," they bring it (usually after I've finished my soup or appetizer), and I enjoy it. That's not what happened this time. This time, it was almost too spicy to eat. It was MUCH spicier than any other Drunken Noodles-es I've had. And I wasn't alone; another one of us could only handle a few bites of her food before giving up. (Issue #3) I may give this place another try, and if I do, my visit will include the advice that I just shared with you at the top of this review.
