The new management of Young Chow has no sense for quality of the food. Nothing tastes the same as it did during the previous management. Egg rolls are not freshly made. The spring rolls had no flavor, rice was not sticky, the wonton soup lacked flavor, the sesame chicken pieces were huge and under flavored. Dinner Takeout review: we ordered 4 dishes. General tsos chicken, beef chow fun, Mongolian pork (small), and beef and broccoli (small). Food was ready for pickup in 15 minutes. Every dish was hot, flavorful, fresh, and a good texture. The meats were tender and moist. The veggies weren't mushy- they were well cooked. Everything was very well seasoned although the Chow fun was a little oily. Honestly this was pretty much the ideal Chinese takeout experience. Pretty good! My only issue with this local Chinese restaurant is that they don't deliver, but after speaking with the owner, I totally understand why. The delivery services out there are way too costly and will run a small, family owned business into the ground. I get that. The food here is amazing. I haven't eaten there in about to years since moving from Centreville but I will be going back this week because it's so hard to compete with their quality of food, attention to detail and freshness. This is my favorite takeout place. I lived in the area for over 5 years and been ordering from here every time. I would call and the same incredibly nice lady picked up the phone and would know my family's order. I would recommend this restaurant to every neighbor I knew. I called today and maybe they have new owners or the restaurant is under new management. The food was a total disappointment. Dumpling sauce is tasteless now, the lo mein is colorless and tastes incredibly bland, sweet and sour chicken tastes different now, the sauce for it is also incredibly runny, used to be a nice sweet thick sauce. It breaks my heart that the quality has gone down this bad. I can no longer recommend this place. STAY AWAY till the quality comes back to what it used to be. I thought my last experience was on outlier, but after reading the other recent reviews, I guess not. My last experience, I ordered the combo fried rice and a beef and broccoli. They said 20min, ok cool. I get there they run my card, and then I wait..and wait... Got to a point where I just wanted to leave and asked they just cancel my order and charge. The young guy behind the counter refused and told me to wait. We kinda got into it, him saying they were busy and I needed to be patient, me saying there's no one else waiting and 45min for a combo fried rice and one dish at any chinese takeout is ridiculous. But maybe they had an off night, new staff... also the food was really good. And I was still hungry, so I waited some more. And more. And I got my order. The guy did apologize for the wait and offered me some duck sauce and utensils to make up for it. No lie. And the reveal, barely combo fried rice (I added an egg at home) and watery broccoli and some beef. I still ate it and didn't get sick. I guess that's sorta a win? I think what caught me off guard was that I had last ordered from there just before the change in ownership, and man, it used to be so good. Friendly staff, fast and terrific food. Anyways, if you're reading this and still want to give this place a go...DO NOT PAY UNTIL YOUR ORDER IS DONE AND READY FOR PICKUP. Or just wait for the disappointment. The veggies looked like they were of the frozen cubed variety. +The General Tso's Chicken had a nice sweet brown sauce and a slight crisp to the deep fried dark meat. -The egg roll left a lot to be desired. -The steamed dumplings looked old and dry. -The Chicken Lo Mein was okay; not salty or too greasy. I have come here for 20 years even after I moved to Chantilly. it was that good and consistent. Sadly, no more. I called tonight and the nice lady didn't answer. the guy on the phone didn't know what twice cooked pork was. I had to hang up and look at the menu and called back saying it was double cooked pork. Went in to pick up our order and sadly they clearly have changed ownership. The twice cooked pork tasted off and hardly any cabbage in it. the lo mein was meh and the crab ragoons are clearly a different frozen brand. So sad that this once great restaurant is gone. New people may not notice as much but your main stay customers who were here for years know the food is not the same quality or taste. I've tried most of their menu at this point and although some dishes might not be extraordinary, they still meet the standards. And the staples ones, out do themselves. Since I have returned to the area, I have been looking for a good Chinese restaurant that is more authentic than westernized. This is a family friendly restaurant, that is welcoming. The service is fast and welcoming! The ambiance is the standard Chinese restaurant feel as you walk in. It is clean and inviting. I may have found the place, Ms. Van is so nice and she offered things not on the menu when I asked and they cooked a spicy crispy chicken with peppers for me, it was great. I should have got it without the sauce. Don't get me wrong the sauce is good, I just prefer it without the sauce. The combination rice is very good. They cook it all fresh and to order. I really enjoyed this dish. I tried the fried dumplings and the verdict is that the dumplings are very full and the dough is fresh also. Now, the hot and sour soup is excellent. We miss Ms Van and Steve! They knew us personally and their quality of food was something to shout from the roof tops. They told us 20 min and meant it (or sooner!) This place has gone so downhill and I wish they changed the name or shut down completely as the new people are dragging their good name and wonderful business through the mud. The old owners stayed a little bit to help the transition so make sure the quality was the same (and I know any new owners are going to have some growing pains) but this is sadly not a place we will visit or talk proudly about any more. The egg rolls were the same frozen ones you got from the store, the sauces were not the same on any of the multitude of dishes we ordered and my beef tasted like seafood and was chewy. (Plus I think the prices even increased!) To the post on May 6, 2025. I thought something was different when i ordered my Wonton soup. They were the only ones that made wonton soup just like back home NYC. It was not bad. But a bit too salty and the wontons were not homemade like before. Also, the broth was brown. Like all the other Chinese restaurants in the area. It's just water and soy sauce. Not real Wonton soup. Today my order included Hunan Pork (excellent as usual) and sweet & sour chicken. The chicken was basically chicken nuggets with a sweet sauce which had a couple pieces of pineapple floating in it. No carrots. No onions. No peppers. The few pieces of pineapple were drenched in sauce and too sickening sweet to consume. Fit for a toddler but NOT this adult. I called the restaurant in frustration. I came here because I saw the good reviews this place had. I ordered the orange beef to-go, which came out to a whopping $23 and change with tax. This is a comparable price to higher-end chinese places in northern VA, like Mama Chang, Peter Chang, and Cheng's Asian House. First off, the beef was in huge chunks. I was expecting it to be shredded or thinly sliced, but no, they were just large chunks of beef. The beef itself was flavorless and tough. It seems like the beef was sliced with the grain instead of against the grain-leading to a very chewy and unpleasant texture. Additionally, the beef was practically swimming in the "orange" sauce. It was completely drenched it it and contributed to a soggy mess with absolutely no crispiness in the beef. I like extra sauce in my chinese takeout but even this was overkill. The orange sauce was incredibly, sickly sweet. I'm aware that americanized chinese food is supposed to be sweet but my goodness. I'm talking sweeter than Panda Express. The flavor is predominately just sugariness with no orange flavor or spice. For $23, this dish fell extremely short of my expectations. However, the employees are friendly. read more

Today I tried their food for the second time, and for the first time in 4 years. I liked it more this time. I had the same dish - Home Style Tofu - but to go this time. When I received the bag of food, I had a good feeling. It had a nice weight for $8.75 including tax. :) It had fried tofu (but compared to 4 years ago, it was soft and absorbed the good flavor from the sauce), carrots, water chestnuts, cabbage, broccoli and fresh mushroom. I noticed the interior has changed. The booth tables got replaced with high tables and chairs. Nice. The fortune cookie was fresh and crisp. It is always a good sign for a good restaurant. read more

I used to get the egg foo young but it was taken off the menu. Now you have to special order it. I, normally get the wonton soup on a Friday after work. I love their chicken wings, beef & broccoli, tripple delight, moo goo gai pan, among other dishes. I have never had a bad meal from this place. Their spring rolls are pretty good too. Really great, everything you look for in a Chinese (-American) takeout place. The food tasted and great and the portions were huge. We drive over from Chantilly past numerous other places to get the food here. The Orange Chicken was huge pieces of perfectly breaded (ratio) dark meat. The wonton soup was flavored just right (not too salty). The eggrolls were exactly what you would expect and want them to be. The service was super friendly and welcoming as well. read more
