This place seems to prepare Thai food differently then the ones downstate. Spicyness was on the cautious side and the yellow curry was overly sweet for my wife's tastes. Potatos were a bit undercooked. My rice seemed to be missing something, maybe some Thai basil. I remind you I'm from downstate so the tastes of the local clientele might be vastly different then mine. The place was busy for 3pm and the noodles dishes looked fantastic. Don't ever have an issue with these guys they r never wrong. Spent $30 on take out got the mango dessert got home mango was green & hard. Called them but they were closed for Xmas. Got take out a few more times that my son picked up. Went in today to pick up order told him about the mango. He asked if I called I said I had & they were closed for several days. Did I leave a message? No I did not. Well it was to long ago to give a credit!! REALLY? Here's a thought-" I'm sorry that happened let me make u a new one". Oh ok but I guess not. Love love love this place. The Pad Si u is my personal favorite but I don't think I have ever gotten something I don't like. During lunch you can choose from lunch or dinner sizes and don't forget to try their Thai iced tea. Sweet with some extra spices and absolutely delicious. I started eating here a little over a year ago when I got a job in the area. It was really good! One week my co-workers and I ate here four days in a row. I don't know what happened, but about four months ago it went downhill fast. The food just isn't as good or consistent. The quality of the ingredients seems to have gone down too. Whereas at first it seemed nice, something seems off now. It's got a bad vibe all around. I want to update this review to five stars when they figure out what's happened and they fix it. First Thai experience in TC. I would say that the proportions are good, they have a nice lunch menu serving until 4. I've been spoiled with exceptional traditional thai and I would say their curry paste was not what I'm used to. Best Thai in Traverse City! The Rice noodles are gluten-free, and they have great spring rolls made with rice noodles which are yummy (not fried). Love the Chicken Satay! Really good duck and tasty egg drop soup!! Great restaurant, great prices, and really nice people. It's our "go-to-restaurant" for yummy, healthy and fast food. My husband brought it home the other night for take out. I was disappointed my husband got me the peanut curry, it was not HOT at all. No heat what so ever, very disappointing. For the dish being 90% noodles I thought it was very over priced. Noodles do not cost anything. There was nothing else added to the dish to account for the price, we went meatless. My dish had 2 pieces of broccoli and I dug around and found 2 pea pods. So it cost us $23 for that. VERY DISAPPOINTED. read more

Called in a carry out at 7pm, they told me 20-25 mins it will be ready. showed up at 7:30pm. when i walked in their was a line of grub hub people, they had cashed me out right away, the cashier said it is on the grill right now as he frantically went to go ask about my order. i waited & waited, as i watched people come in & out with their food, at 7:45 they told me my food was cooking...... still waiting after i already paid, even though they were nice enough to ask me if i wanted something to drink, finally got my food till 7:55pm. mind you we were guests in traverse city staying in a hotel, they gave us no plastic wear & apparently did not have any chopsticks even when i asked for them. it was a 15 minute drive back to my hotel, when we opened our food, i was given white rice when i asked for fried rice, i was even charged $5.00 upgrade. & they gave me regular spring rolls when i had asked purchased chicken spring rolls. i called to complain about my order, and asked for a refund. they told me i could it would be a few days till i get my refund due to the payment has to be posted. & the owner will call me. well i got my refund, for the rice up-charge and sping rolls, which was $10 dollars. i should of gotten more of a refund for waiting so long. & the owner never called. if i didn't pay right away i would of walked out and went somewhere else. the food was dry & not authentic, wasnt good NOR WORTH THE MONEY! read more

My boyfriend and I eat here all the time. By far the best Thai place in TC, and their Chinese dishes are even better than Human and China Fair down the street. The basil fried rice is TO-DIE-FOR! My wife is Thai and she tried the Pad See-Euw (Pad See-you) on a take-away order. She said it was good - and she is picky. I didn't eat anything yet and we will come in for full service soon. For right now, giving it a four star. The owners are Hmong (not Thai) - although the Hmong "hill people" are indigenous to the northern parts of Thailand and Laos and Vietnam. Many Hmong were evacuated as refugees during the later part of the Vietnam War.and in the late 1970s. The staff was friendly. The menu definitely puts in some Chinese-style food - although Chinese food is also Thai - Bangkok has one of the largest Chinatown areas in the world and 10% of Thai citizens are ethnic Chinese. OK, enough of the social studies lesson. Go check it out! You can likely request your dishes to be more Thai and less Chinese-American - Thai food does use a lot of oil, sugar, and lime. read more

I was excited to see this was finally open. I love Thai food and have been eating it for years. I was not impressed. This wasn't like any Thai food I've eaten, the name might have been the same but the flavor and ingredients not so much. I ordered the curry fried rice with chicken, extra spicy. I will say there was a good amount of chicken in the rice but no flavor or at the very most a muddled mess. I tasted no curry, the rice was brown colored and there only way I even know they had added any curry was the yellow residue on the plate. Their idea of extra spicy was in name only, no detectable spice. To say I was disappointed is the best I can do. My dinner date was not happy with his food either. No taste was the comment. The portions were small, rather like a small lunch plate and not a dinner. No soup either. We will not return, very disappointed. I can't understand the great reviews other than they must be from friends or patrons not accustomed to real Thai food. read more

When we visited, the sun was shining through the many windows, revealing a dining area that had nothing to hide. Everything I saw, from the floors to the walls to the ceiling to the furnishings was clean, immaculate, and new. The front of house staff were notably young, hip, and attractive. Based on past experience, I began to anticipate inattentive or narcissistic service and small portions of indifferent food. Not to worry! The hostess was as kind as she was pretty, and our waiter, Tony, was simply awesome, very helpful and with a sparkling personality. He was happy to help us decide what to order, and his advice was spot on, both my husband and myself were really happy with our dinners. For appetizers, we shared an order of pot stickers and an order of crab wonton. Both were just as they should be, well-prepared, and fresh, as was the hot and sour soup. My husband is big on hot and sour soup, and he particularly enjoyed this version, saying it tasted light, clean, and spicy. If you like spicy peanuty-ness, the peanut Thai noodle dish is the way to go. My husband got his with chicken, which turned out to be nicely tender white meat which harmonized perfectly with the rest of the dish. The portion sizes were generous, the food was imaginative and well-prepared. I tend to be a fresh vegetable lover, and Tony told me he would gladly let the kitchen staff know I was fussy about over-done vegetables. Tony also let us know that customizing the level of heat in any dish would not be a problem. Tony is definitely a stand-out waiter, that being said, we got genuine smiles and greetings from the other wait staff, as well. Clean, bright and modern, excellent food, individualized and personal service from smiling faces. For comfort, if you are plus-size, don't be shy to request a chair with no arms.
