I have driven past this place countless times and never went in. Granted, every time I passed it was around 7:30 in the morning as I roll right past and head to my dry cleaner. I went there with my wife for a late (for a Thursday night; 8:25) dinner. We wanted to go somewhere close but new to us and finally my curiosity got the best of me. I thought this was a very solid experience. It is possible my sense of tasted was skewed since I had not had breakfast or lunch during the day. I will have to come back another time when I'm not starving and see if I feel the same. Enough with the qualifiers, on with the review! We ordered: (a) Papaya salad; (b) Pad Thai with beef; (c) Green curry with pork; and (d) Mango curry with chicken. We enjoyed all of the dishes. The Papaya salad was pretty fantastic. Never had it before. Never knew papaya could be had not sweet. Our server said this was green papaya. Served julienned with julienned carrots and over a bed of cabbage. The dressing (runny) was savory with a hint of vinegar and peanut sauce (maybe it was just the peanuts). Overall a very refreshing taste (for savory) and I loved the crunch of the green papaya. This was a great starter for us. We dug the Pad Thai. Whenever I go to a new Thai restaurant, I have to order Pad Thai because: (i) I love the stuff; and (ii) they need to be able to get this dish right in order for me to trust the restaurant. I thought they got it right. Noodles were al dente and none were stuck together in a clump (happened to me a few times before). There was enough sauce to make it saucy but not runny. The sauce was rich and robust. That savory and somewhat sweet tomato based sauce was just the right amount of flavor without being too overpowering. Only complaint was the beef could have been less tough. We also liked both curries. We thought the mango curry was sweet (but not too sweet) and very smooth. It was runny but still flavorful. You could drink it and be a happy camper. The chicken was tender and the bamboo, mango chunks and vegetables complemented it nicely. Nothing was overcooked or too soggy. The green curry was also very good. Again on the runnier side but that didn't bother me too much. Did not feel the flavor was diluted at all by the runny character of the curry sauce. The pork was decent enough and the vegetables (bamboo and red peppers) all worked together very well. There was also a heavy fresh basil presence. All in all, well executed. We had great service. Maybe it was the fact we were the only table this evening. Or maybe they are just that friendly. I will be back and next time will try it again to see if my positive impression is due to the food or because I was Starving' Marvin. TTFN. read more

Good and good. I can't say EXCELLENT because food spice level and taste isn't always consistent. Been here many times and definitely one of the better Thai places around draper and I-15. I usually get the tom ka soup and pad thai. The pad Thai they include less peanuts and sprouts than other places (about half a cup). Tom ka is delicious, though every now and then it will be a little extra sour than other times. Their yellow curry and Penang curry are good, but if you are not tolerant to spicy, they are spicy, so I recommend asking waitress to lower level. Spring rolls are literally a bunch of lettuce wrapped in a veggie skin. Mango with sticky rice I've ordered once, and I was not impressed. Mango came brown, and not as tasty. read more

The food is almost always very nice. We mainly like the different fried rice dishes and the peanut chicken curry. The appetizers are somewhat blend at times and the chicken satays can be quite dry. This is the kind of place I love to take my friends to, especially if they are foodies. The food itself has been excellent. The crunchy noodle curry, pad see ew, pad kee mao, calamari, and egg rolls are absolutely on point. The service has been excellent. One of the guys who works the front of the restaurant, David, is always so kind, and his passion for the food and culture is infectious. The place is family owned, the atmosphere friendly and casual, and the experience well worth the visit. It's a small, nondescript little place, and very easy to miss. I just got chicken Pad Thai and was excited to try it because of all of their good reviews! It was decent, however it tasted bland compared to most other restaurants. My significant other and I visited this restaurant last night around 7:30pm because we have tried most of the Thai restaurants in Salt Lake City and are trying to find the best one. When we arrived it was quite busy but they were able to seat us within just a minute or two. Then our waiter, I believe his name was Kenny, was so kind and funny. He was very attentive and gave us wonderful suggestions and service. We ordered the crunchy noodle curry and the pad thai and we got the thai iced tea and thai iced coffee. I can not wait to go back to this restaurant! I ordered the crunchy noodle curry with chicken and absolutely loved it. The curry was some of the best I've had and the crunchy noodles were perfect with it. I also tired the calamari and I wish I could just order a huge bucket of it! The calamari it's self was perfectly cooked and had a thin crispy breading that was great. My husband got the special for the day which was a lot of food. I've ordered the pad Thai with chicken twice for take out during lunch, since it's about 5 min from the office. It's $12 and you get a LOT of food. The lunch size is plenty of food for me, sometimes I'll even have leftovers. Parking is a pain during lunch hour. I was recommended this place by a cousin who lived in Thailand for a few years. After spending a month in Thailand none of my usual Thai places were cutting it. Every time I come in here not only is it the food that is top notch but the service too. The owner is so great and personable and I always feel like we are the only customers in the restaurant. This restaurant has been consistently great ever since the current owner, Billy, purchased it from the owner of Thai House in Lehi. We've been going here for over 10 years and the food and service have been perfect every time. When we first started going, Billy would go out of his way to make our kids feel welcome. This is my go-to Thai place in my area. Every experience I've had has been either a 4-Star or 5-Star one, where the management is upbeat and happy to help me with my to-go order and they're accommodating to my requests for mild or all vegetarian curry (yes, the curry sauce, not vegetarian, right? Lol I mean no meat! Or tofu. Just tons of vegetables). They've even renovated in the past year and the place is looking great. Their curries always satisfy my curry-cravings and their mango sticky rice is great. I love, love Thai Land. My one wish is that they'd get a liquor license. When I go out for a date or whatever, I want to have an adult beverage. So my experience here is limited to take-out. I'd love to jump in the car after the sitter arrives and say, let's hit Thai Land and know that I can unwind with my husband over delicious curries, a bottle of import beer (thai beer!) or a glass of white wine. We were out late running errands the other night when the craving for Thai food hit. We just wanted to grab some take-out from some place on the way home, so I found this place on yelp and we decided to try it. The owner was very friendly and took our order. The server who brought us our order was also friendly. The ambience was nice - a smallish, clean place with a peaceful and relaxing music. We ordered Gyoza, Papaya Salad spicy level 2, Chicken Pad Thai spicy level 2, and Volcano Chicken spicy level 3. Everything was AMAZING!! And everything was spicier than I thought it would be - delicious spicy, but if you're a wimp or not in a spicy mood, then don't be afraid to wimp out on the spicy level :) The gyoza were crispy [not mushy or crunchy] and soooo flavorful. Seriously the best I've ever had. Normally potstickers are kind of bland on the inside, but I wanted to eat like 17 more of these. The papaya salad was excellent and among the best I've had. My husband, who turned up his nose at the idea of "papaya" and "salad", also loved it ;) The chicken pad thai was fantastic and definitely among the best I've had. It didn't have a whole bunch of extra dry stringy vegetables like some places have in theirs. My husband got the volcano chicken - I'd never had it before, but it was really tasty and I would order it myself. And...we live about 15 minutes away from this place. I always worry about getting takeout, then driving home, then you usually have to microwave your food to heat it back up, which makes it meh. We didn't need to reheat our food at all, it was still nice and warm. And they had cut the corner of the styrofoam gyoza box in order to vent it so that they wouldn't get mushy - genius, and totally worked because did I mention how I want to eat like 17 more??? Everything listed came to $39 w/o tip. It's not inexpensive, but it's not terrible considering we way over-ordered and had leftovers and everything was so tasty. If we hadn't gotten 2 appetizers and had just gotten 2 entrees, it would have been maybe $22 or so, which is very reasonable. I saw on their website that you can get a frequent flier -type card for $20, then get 10% off for a year using that card, so we'll probably sign up for that next time. I have to first apologize to Thai Land for taking so long to write them a review! They deserve all the attention they can get, I'm in love with this place. Please accept my apology!!! I would rank Thai Land in the top 5 Thai places I've been. I wouldn't typically give them 5 stars based solely on their food since they're not technically #1 but with their service on top of great food is why I give them the 5th star. In my humble honest opinion I have to say that Draper/Sandy is very lucky to have this gem snuggled away in a strip mall. They offer a great menu, at great prices, including a full lunch menu with specials and smaller portions. The menu is extensive, and the selections are plentiful. The staff are more than happy to help navigate you through the menu, and offer advice, and give suggestions. Every time I ask for level 5 on the spicy chart the server checks to make sure I'm ready for it. ...and although I have to wipe my brow, and clean the steam from my yelp sunglasses, it's so worth it! I've been here a couple of times for work lunches, and they hit my trifecta of priorities in that situation: easy group seating, quick-ish service, and seamless bill settling.
