Service : Took awhile for us to get an order going and the restaurant was not busy. Water came really late into dining on the appetizers and only one waiter/maybe owner?. Other than that, the place is really great and can see many great art on the wall which connects back to the homeland. Ambiance : Music is okay and not that loud inside in general. FOOD: Nam Khao: Not a big fan of the way how it was made. Very sweet and wet. Slightly salty. Less crunchiness from the rice ball. For sure this is their own style of making a newly Nam Kao and I'll probably give it 5/10. Sticky Wings: If you really like sweet & sour sauce I think it goes great with wings and the sauce they had made was really salty along with the sauce. Probably added fish sauce along with it? But the chicken is very crispy and on point. Probably can improve on the sauce. 5.5/10 Pad Kee Mao: The noodles were amazingly pan fried and you can see it has great textures from the sauces they use. Other than that, it mainly tasted like pad see ew and I noticed they added black pepper and salt and it made it really salty. No basil taste, but overall needs to improve on the basil and herb for the dish. 4/10 Khao Soy: Less meat, the soup base tastes more like tomatoes than actual meat broth that they use. Probably can improve on that. 5/10 Khao Piak: Can improve on the soup/broth base and portioning. Barely meat, the chicken was very dry, and probably needs slightly more seasoning on the base. My review is mainly just for the food. We came On a weeknight, and it wasn't busy at all. We were seated right away. It's not super spacious inside. The service was good. Food came out fast. We ordered 5 different things, and yes it's a lot for 2 people. We always tend to order with ours eyes lol. But my favorite out everything we ordered is the ka soy! It's super flavorful! We ordered the papaya salad spicy, and it was actually spicy! This is one of Hercules' new additions, and I'm happy to say that I enjoyed their food very much. Though, let's go through some pros and cons. PROS: I loved everything we ordered the Pla Rad Prik (deep fried fish), Pad Thai (Thai version), Tom Kha, Papaya Salad, and Mango Sticky Rice. The fried fish was boneless and a very nice item to balance out the "meat dish" which was our Pad Thai. They offer the Pad Thai as a Thai style or Lao style, and we ordered the Thai style which was my favorite Pad Thais I've had so far. Papaya Salad was refreshing; We ordered the seafood Tom Kha, which I love the hint of sourness; And the mango sticky rice was the perfect texture (though it may be inconsistent because the last time we had this, the rice was extremely hard). CONS: I know this is a new restaurant, so I'll give the staff the benefit of the doubt that over time, they will get into the groove of things better such as remembering orders and checking on tables. We ordered rice with our meal, so when the staff brought out a majority of our meal, she said the rice is on the way. I assumed that our Pad Thai would be on the way as well. After a while, we raised our hand to let the waitress know that we didn't get our rice yet & that we're still waiting on our Pad Thai. Turns out, the first staff didn't put in the order for the Pad Thai. We finally got our Pad Thai, but they forgot that we still didn't get the rice. Finally we have all of our items-everything was good-but as for the Tom Kha, which has an extra cost for seafood, it didn't come with a lot of seafood. There were 2 shrimps, 2 mussels, and a few pieces of squid. No one came by to check on our table, so we got up to ask for the check and boxes. Also, while someone was cleaning a table, the rag dropped on the carpet, and they continued to use it to clean the table. I would get their food again, but only for takeout. read more

Pretty good and lots of options both Thai and Lao style as they are similar. Pick your spice level but just FYI, Thai/Laotian food can get hot! My advice... start slow with the spice if you're a newbie. Anyway, we came during weekday lunch so it was pretty empty but they must not be fully staffed because service was a tad slow. They were very apologetic though. We shared the Thai-style papaya salad and salmon red curry which both were very tasty. Then we finished it off with my mom's fave, mango, and sticky rice! Very good! The rice wasn't drenched in coconut milk but had the perfect flavor. The mango was also very yellow and perfectly riped. I love Laotian/Thai food and so happy that Hercules has gained a new gem. Looks like their grand opening was on 6/3 so I made a note to check it out. Randomly came for dinner on a weekday and immediately noticed the beautiful art of Thailand and Laos on the walls. I sat at a small table at the front and ordered the following: -Sticky Wings: $12.55- 5 pieces of fried wings in a sweet and sour chili sauce topped with fried basil. Very flavorful and tasty. -Nam Khao: $14.55- must order!! A Laotian signature dish made of fried crumbled rice balls, ground and cured pork, and lots of herbs, which you can eat as a lettuce wrap. It was so flavorful and fresh! I fell in love with this dish in Champa Garden in Oakland and I think they also add mint and some of the pungent dipping sauce (jeow som) on the side, which I enjoyed, so I recommend that the restaurant add those to this dish. Thoroughly enjoyed my first experience here and the service was fantastic - the ladies who were running things juggled all of their customers so well as the place started filling up. New restaurant in Hercules serving Thai/Laotian food. I came here with my husband and daughter for lunch. They just recently opened. Inside dining with about maybe seven tables. They also have two infant/toddler chair for the young kiddos. We ordered a few things. 1) Yum Nua - a charbroiled beef salad. Good flavors. Like a papaya salad but with meat. 2) Yellow Curry with chicken - also good curry flavor. 3) Pad thai - very tasty, would get again. 4) sticky rice - good with satay meats. We came on a Friday night. Service was slow, but at least the food was worth the wait. The dishes we ordered were very flavorful. My husband said the red curry was one of the better curries he's ever tried. I'm still trying to get used to the higher prices of everything. A couple of years ago, we would have paid less than $50(including tip) for a meal like this...but now it's almost $60 without tip! We look forward to trying their other dishes...but we'll probably wait a couple more weeks or so to give them time to iron out their kinks in customer service. read more

I came here with my brother, not too long ago for lunch, and was pleasantly surprised by this place. It is a smaller place but the service is excellent. I ordered the yellow curry lunch special which came with rice. I asked for medium spice and it came out perfect. I also tried the chicken satay which was seasoned really well. It came with peanut sauce. The prices are really reasonable. I think the whole entire bill for two people only came to about $45. This place was wonderful in terms of service, the waitress checked on us often, but not too often, and make sure our water was filled always. I will definitely try this place again! My first time trying Thai Lao and I'm really glad this restaurant exists in Hercules because I really like Thai food! I did a phone order for in person pickup. The gentleman who answered the phone was extremely polite and took my order quickly and efficiently, understanding any customizations I wanted to make. I ordered the egg roll appetizer, a Thai iced tea, and chicken pad Thai. Upon arriving to Thai Lao, I was greeted by a gentleman at the front who was again, very polite. He offered utensils for me to take home with me, and rang me up while presenting the food which was nice and hot. I enjoyed my meal and will be happy to try additional dishes in the future. My Pad Kee Mao was missing the basil. I requested for it to be spicy and I don't know if you could even consider this mild. Disappointing.

I am a big fan of lao sausage and this is the only place in the bay I've tried so far that tastes exactly like my favorite lao sausage in Fresno. Sauce is amazing and traditional, comes with sticky rice and my only negative is I wish it came with cucumber instead of broccoli; However, they were very accommodating when I asked for cucumber instead of broccoli! On one occasion they forgot the sauce and cucumber and when I came back to have them fix it they provided me with a free Thai tea. Very nice people and great food although i've only tried the sausage. I'm sure if the sausage is great, authentic, and flavorful, the other food is too because good lao sausage is hard to come across. read more

I was so excited for this spot to open up in my neighborhood. I've been here a couple times and both times I left with mixed feelings. The location and decor inside is great, and the staff is friendly. However I have to knock off a couple stars for food quality. During my first visit, I ordered a few items from the menu. I enjoyed most of the things I tried except the lao style papaya salad, which was lacking in flavor and not spicy, but this wasn't a deal breaker for me, so I went back a second time feeling hopeful. I ordered a few new dishes but this time everything I ordered came out overly salty (Tom yum soup and chicken satay with peanut sauce). They forgot one of my order items and were out of a couple things I hoped to try as well. They did give me an order of egg rolls on the house to compensate. As someone who loves Thai food, I couldn't wait for them to open. I finally had a chance to try them and they didn't disappoint. We decided to grab lunch here on a Thursday afternoon. It is a smaller restaurant but they were not busy at the time. We were immediately seated and got to looking at the menu. We decided on Red Thai curry with chicken, pork pad Thai, their beef fried rice and the sticky rice and mango dessert. Our favorite dish was the red Thai curry. It has a delicious flavor with a little basil and just a tad bit heat. Their pad Thai had a good amount of sweetness with pieces of tofu. The food at this place is good! My family and I "go to" place for Thai when we are in the neighborhood. The food is spicy and we are not too crazy for spicy food so when we order we have to tell them "no spicy" because even when we say mild it is still spicy! But so far everything we have ordered has been delicious! Their Thai Tea drink is very good and I don't think it is made with powder like other places because I can tell how creamy it is so that's a plus for us. Ordered the KaoSoy, Yum Woon Sen, Beef Larb & Lao Sausage. The KaoSoy was a little disappointing due to the lack of meat, but the taste was decent. The Yum Woon Sen was a bit on the dry side. Taste was not up to par. Beef Larb had taste, but could have been better. I understand the crowd around the area and they have to apply the taste to a certain group of people. The Lao Sausage was good, again could have been slightly better. Surprisingly they had broccoli and cabbage with the Sausages. The green curry was a mistake by the person who took the phone order. We don't like Thai curry and the mistake order still reminded us that we still don't like Thai curries. In any event, the restaurant has potential, but two visits and I think we're done. This little place is casually quaint. I've dined here only twice. The 1st time, we chose the curry, which was delicious! Remembering that experience, we returned for an impromptu lunch. We tried the nam khao (my usual go to) and chicken rad nah. Both had generous portions and were a great price for the amount! The nam khao was refreshing with the lettuce, cilantro, and mint. The one here had a lot of lime flavor and was really tasty. I'd never had rad nah before so I have no prior experience to compare it to but it has gravy with noodles which was the perfect balance to the lighter nam khao dish. We were so excited to eat it that I forgot to take pictures... The paintings on the wall were super cute and I like how they teach a little bit about Laos and Thailand. Don't get me wrong but I felt I got ripped off from the food I ordered and not best for the prices you can get from our money. I ordered 2 sets of the sticky wings and I got 3 tiny pieces and one drum sticks each. The Nam kaw rice for almost $20 it's 3/4 size amount of my regular bowl of soup. They cover it with lots of lettuce and cilantro so you won't the actual amount until you get home. The only I got that is decent is the Pad Thai. I like the food the corruption for the small portion for that amount is not worthy. The Terraces Dragon Chinese food are more honest and food portion is to the truth serving. Holy. This place has been here for awhile and I finally decided to check it out based on the many reviews. I ordered for takeout the fried fish, with sauce on the side and my favorite- tom kha gai, medium spicy. By the time I got home, I unpacked my order and was pleased with how the fried fish held up after being covered in plastic. I asked for the sauce to be separated, and instructions were definitely followed. As I took my first bite of the fish dipped in sauce, my tastebuds were dancing, and I was proud of myself for ordering takeout for lunch, although I had food at home. I was also happy that this place is nearby and not far from me. I tore that fish up along with the vegetables. The sauce just made it even better. I'm sure that if I had it fresh from the restaurant itself, meaning eating it onsite, it would've been more excellent. It was too hot for me to try the tom kha gai, but from what I was able to sip with a spoon, the flavor was OK, not the best, I've had better. Then again, I was already full from eating the fish so maybe I should have started off with the soup first. I'm definitely a fan and I'm definitely returning. Absolutely worth the trip. It was incredible. All of the plating was super beautiful. The food tasted even better. I recommend anything on the menu. I guarantee you you're gonna love it. It is almost vegetarian which is very surprising because they know how to work with veggies really well to make them taste like a complete dish! The mango sticky rice is phenomenal.
