I don't really get the 5 star reviews, I wasn't blown away by Thai Orchid. Parking is free and the dining area is small but clean. I dined in and there was only one person working. He was friendly but busy - bussing tables, taking orders and bringing out food. The prices were high. I'd have spent $40 if I ordered everything I wanted (Crab Rangoon $12, Drunken Noodles $15 and Mango & Sticky Rice $12). I'm not used to paying so much for lunch but it's worth it if the food is stellar. Everything is cooked to order which means if you want to order Mango Rice you have to call it in 1.5 hours in advance which is fine if you live in Columbus, I don't... My meal was hot and full of fresh veggies & tasty basil. But the sauce was watery like broth. I've never needed a spoon for Drunken Noodles before. The noodles were overcooked and soft, the chicken wasn't seasoned enough and I didn't leave full. Lastly, the restroom floor was sticky and untidy. It may have just been an off day based on the previous reviews and a nearby table raving about their meals. When you're looking at a menu and customers suggest what you should try without asking their opinion; I've learned to listen. The food was great! I've never seen Crab Rangoon done like it's done here; very light, crispy, and tasty. A must try if this is one of your go to items. I was told by the entertaining customer to get their egg rolls and I'm glad I did. Many flavors wrapped in a small package served with an awesome sauce. First thing I'd like to note is how well I was taken care of. The guy assisting me came to my car to give me a sauce that I left behind and that's top tier service, in my opinion. While in town, I found this little gem I've been wanting to try for a while. I started by ordering their homemade egg rolls that came out nice and hot with two different dipping sauces. I also ordered the chicken Pad Kraprow which I believe is the traditional authentic dish what we know to be spicy basil. Here goes, I'm a Thai raised but Thai Chinese Vietnamese born and raised in LA and here for bro in laws turning of green. That being said, I did not come into this with any expectations but knowing 100% it's Thai owned and made. Food: -Pad Kaprow (brother in laws favorite) I'm assuming he really liked it considering it's gone now haha 10/10 -Yum woon sen seafood: I died, they actually do standard Thai spice level and I ordered medium spicy which is like 2 or 2.5 chilies. It's better than the restaurants I've had it at because it's not frequently ordered. They have big portions with lots of shrimp. 9.5/10 -Tom yum seafood: lots of aroma and flavoring in the soup, not stingy with seafood portioning at all. Overall very aromatic and full of flavor 10/10 -pad see ew: the woman said theirs is really good so I ordered for MIL and they said it was really good. They use traditional Chinese broccoli so it really brings out more flavor than regular broccoli. 9.5/10 Service: for ordering takeout they were very welcoming and made conversation with us and turns out the woman was born in Thailand and the guy working was raised in my hometown in LA. Update to previous post. This has become one of our regular spots that we look forward to on a regular basis. The crab ragoons is definitely our favorite appetizer, the fried chicken never disappoints, panang curry continues to be my favorite, my wife love the yellow curry with copious amounts of of vegetables and the environment is still family friendly and accommodating. If I could give it more than 5 stars, I would, and if I had a dollar for every time I said "this is so good," I'd be a trillionaire. My partner and I were in Georgia for a quick trip, and he heard from his friends that this place was really good so we gave it a shot on our last day, disappointed we didn't go sooner (note: we are from NYC and have tried a numerous amount of thai restaurants, including Michelin star ones, but this one just beats every single one of them. Everything we ordered was so different from the ones we eat in the city; shrimp used in the shrimp wrap was jumbo/fresh, drinks were delicious/not powdery (and they use the tiny ice cubes), entrees were so flavorful and (hate it when they're stingy with pineapples but there were so many!!), and OMG the mango sticky rice was such a delight, warm rice and cold mango, just perfection. We have heard so many wonderful things from friends about Thai Orchid and after reading the reviews we decided to give it a try. Delicious! We ordered the green curry, pad Thai, and Tom yum noodle soup. The green curry was perfect. The spice was medium and the flavor was outstanding. The pad Thai was as expected with the added garnishes and also great flavor. I'm a huge fan of Tom yum and wanted to try the twist of adding noodles. It was alright. Not my favorite with the noodles in it, but the Tom yum by itself was fantastic. Perfect balance of flavors. We are looking forward to trying more dishes at Thai Orchid in the future. We have tried so many places since our favorite local spot closed and I'm bummed we waited this long on Thai Orchid. The best description for this location is your favorite mom and pop shop. It is recommended that you make reservations before arriving, and large parties probably won't be the best option. The owners of Thai Orchid really make you feel as though you are dining in their home. They have your table ready for your arrival and make adjustments to your order if any allergens or food preferences arise. I ordered the Pad See Ew beef and my Aunt ordered the Basil Fried Rice. Our server could tell we were indecisive and suggested family style plating which was a win/win for the both of us. I am biased of the Pad See Ew because it is my favorite thai dish, but this one is hard to beat. Plenty of veggies and sauce which is the best way to have it. This was our first time visiting this Thai Orchard! We have lived in Columbus, GA for about 4 years now and never thought to try this place!
