While on vacation in California this spring I went to Thai Original BBQ in Carson and fell in love. The best as it gets. I was impressed with the quality of the food I received and at a great price. Awful, awful, awful. This was my first time trying this restaurant and believe me, I will NEVER go back. The food was disgusting. I ordered shrimp fried rice, and what we got was definitely not shrimp fried rice. I called the restaurant and was told to call back in the morning to address it. First let me say, I have been coming to this place for almost 10 yrs now and their food is always good. But today, I decided to order over the phone and I tried to connect for almost 45 minutes to no avail, so I decided to drive to their place to order. There were only two people inside the restaurant. Upon opening the door to go in, I could smell the strong odor of clorox. The lady named Cheryll who works on the counter said " Don't come near the counter because it has clorox. " They are cleaning the counter with clorox during business hours...in a food place? I politely asked if their phone is not working. She very rudely responded, "NO! Need to call AT&T." and took the order afterwards. She did not even apologize for the inconvenience. She said it would take 15 - 20 min. When the order was ready, she called my name and handed me the food harshly, without even saying thank you or anything of the sort, and proceeded to smile at the next couple being seated on the table. read more

I would give this place 0 stars if this allowed me to. I ordered a Tom yum shrimp soup and Thai tea to go. The soup was flavorless, watery and overpriced. I usually pay $3-4 dollars less at other places and it actually tastes good. The soup also had like 3 pieces of shrimp. I ended up throwing it away because it was so bad. The other reason I give this place such a low rating is because they did not give me the Thai tea I ordered. I assumed they put it in the bag and when I got home I realized they never gave it to me. I should of checked before I left, but I also think they should of made sure they handed it to me. I called them to ask for a refund but they would not give it to me as they said the check was closed already. Went here with a group of nine for a birthday lunch. This place want built for large groups. There was only one waiter so the service was super slow. It took at least thirty minutes after we ordered to get food. I ordered the ribs. It came with five pretty good size ribs on top of what was supposed to be shrimp fried rice. There were two shrimp in the rice. The ribs were a little dry. The only saving grace was the sauce it came with which was sweet and a little spicy. my favorite place to get thai fried rice & bbq chicken. after trying thai fried rice elsewhere... it's just not the same. i was re-introduced to this place on my 19th birthday where my grandparents, siblings & i had dinner. something about thai food, that always sounds yummy to me. if you're looking for spicy thai food, this may not be the place for you. but if you're not into spicy, like myself, then in your stomach will be happy (: i recommend coming for lunch (11a-3p, i think) and getting the bbq chicken lunch special. it's also their most popular dish. lunch specials are around $7-$8. the interior is pretty plain. the bigger room has a train that circles the room, it's cute when its on. as for service, they're generally really nice. no complaints here. read more

Honestly. This place has neither the decor or the service to back it up. Choo choo trains, anyone? But despite this, I can truly say this is the only Thai place I've been to so far where I felt like I was getting a good value of food for the price. The best things IMO and the ones you can't go wrong with are the pad thai and spare ribs. Their bbq chicken and satay is pretty good as well but if you are more picky I would stick with the pad thai and spare ribs. I think the main reason why I really like this place is that 1. they ALWAYS take like 10 mins the cook the food [it's seemingly suspicious how fast they bring out the food but when you're hungry and it tastes good you don't care] and 2. I absolutely get my $$ worth with the amount of pad thai they give me. Every other place I've been has charged me the same or even more but for the half the amount. Suggestion: Order the pad thai and spare ribs to go. Drop by 10 mins later and then go home and enjoy some dinner. read more

The Pad Thai was good and the other dishes around me look good as well. This place is good, just had really slow service. Took forever to get to us and our food came separately. My Pad Thai came out pretty fast but had to wait for everyone else dishes to come out. There was 3 of us and the food came out 5-10 minutes between each. Other than that the food was good. read more

How much I love this place can't be described through words. Not too fond of the staff or their services but the food is wonderful. I usually stick with the beef satay or beef pad Thai but have occasionally venture out to other dishes like the gulf of Siam and drunken noodles. This is my husband and our kids favorite Thai spot. The S8 with Beef sticks is always what they order. I am not a fan of Thai cuisine whoever, in my household, the majority wins..lol. The decor in here needs some serious help. I always try to talk my family into just picking it up because, I'd much rather stare at my own walls. We've been coming here for years. The customer service is getting worse lately. I know this restaurant is popular among asians in this city but that's not a reason to be complacent. The waitress should be required to write down orders. They keep forgetting orders. Empty soup bowls in the table should indicate we're waiting for the soup but we are kept waiting. I had to remind them at least 2 times for our soup. Since we're almost done with our food, I just cancelled it. My daughter and I have lived in Carson for over 10 years. We decided to eat here because we have passed this place many times. I ordered the shrimp fried rice an ribs and my daughter ordered the sate with shrimp fried rice. My ribs were tough and had very little flavor. Both me and my daughter's shrimp fried rice only came with two shrimp a piece and my daughter beef sate had little seasoning and was very greasy. So much so she threw all her food back up.
